Reports :: Print Selected Record From Subform In Switchboard

Apr 1, 2015

Now the fundamental point of my Database is to take bookings, calculate the costs and print out the bills.

It all works jim dandy...BUT I havent done it in a elegant way.

So I just want to streamline the database and make it more user friendly so my Dad could also use it.

I have a Switchboard with Buttons which functions as Navigation and below that I have a subform which is based on query from my Bookings table to show my current, future bookings etc.

I want to be able to click on a record in the subform and press a button to open the report in print preview mode without having to input the booking nr.

Funnily enough I have actually found an example database which has this function but its more complex (it does it in 2 stages, so the user can still input more data in the report if required) rather than going directly to the print preview. I looked through the settings but its difficult when you dont really know what to look out for.

I have tried 2 things so far:

-Creating a macro with the OpenReport command but when I ran the macro it still wanted the Booking Nr manually inputted.
- I tried a VBA code but that gave me errors and I wasnt able to debug it.

I read some things regarding the "Link Child/Master Field" but I dont know if I even need that...I *think* that is more for pulling info from the Master form to show the related data in the subform.

Reports :: Print Or Preview Reports Based On Selected Value In List Or Combobox

Jul 11, 2013

I am still trying to get a hang of development in access 2010.

I would like to design a form with a listbox or a combobox which holds all 8 of my reports (a table has all the reports), with a Print and a Preview view buttons. In addition, the user must be able to select if they want to view the report by month, quarter and the year in question.

How do i have a specific report print or previewed based on the value selected in the listbox or combobox and the date criteria.

Reports :: Print Only Report Matching Current Record In Form Among Multiple Reports

Oct 2, 2013

I have been an MS Excel man all along my career and I am a novice in MS Access.I have created a table, [Initial Customer Approval] which records data from a Form, [Initial Customer Approval]. Once the data is entered in the Form, I need to do some calculations based on the data entered in some of the fields in the form.I created 6 different queries for the six possible values in those fields. now for each of those queries I created respective reports.I placed a Print command button in the Form.

1. When I press the Print button it should open the report for the current record in the Form. (Currently It Opens all the reports simulatneously, with only one relevant report containing the current record; other opened reports being blank.)

2. If user presses the Print button before pressing Save button then system should prompt user.

Here is the code (Please note [reference number] is the unique ID generated for each record entered in the tabe through form):

Private bSaveClicked As Boolean
Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If Not bSaveClicked Then
MsgBox "You are trying to navigate away from the active record. Please either save your changes, or press ESC to cancel your changes.", vbOKOnly + vbInformation
Cancel = True

[code]...

Reports :: SubForm Not Growing In Print Preview

Jun 2, 2014

I have a report with several forms, these are all graphs.

In order to fit them all on one report, I need them to be able to grow.

This works fine in Report View, they grow as expected, however when exporting to PDF, printing or print preview, they do not grow. I set them all to Yes for Can Grow and it displays correctly in Report View.

Reports :: Subform Good In PrintPreview But Doesn't Print?

May 28, 2013

I have a report with 2 subforms. The Main report is Client info. Sub1 has ContactNotes for each client. It is in the detail section of Main, is in continuous mode, and is related to Main thru key ClientID. This prints good. Sub2 is a signature block for the report. It is unrelated. It looks at the "Initials" field in ContactNotes, uses the date range and ClientID that Sub1 uses, and develops a list of the Clinicians that had contact with the client. their names and cert's are in a list form with a line for their signatures. This is working correctly and shows in print preview but will not print. I have put it in the reportfooter on Main, in the reportfooter of Sub1, it calculates properly and shows in print preview but will not print!!!

strReportName = "Badge"

Reports :: Filter Records After Selected Record Combo Box

Sep 2, 2013

i have a combo box, which looks up a list of school names from my main table. The user selects the desired school, then clicks the button underneath, which opens a report. What i want the report to show is the next 31 (that is how many fit on one page) schools AFTER the school that the user selects - the underlying query for the report has them in alphabetical order. There are ~250 schools in the list.Even if i can get it just to display the records after the selected one on the form, that would be fine.

Forms :: Sourcing Data From Subform Selected Record

Apr 24, 2013

I have a main form (frmMain) and a sub form (frmChild), set as datasheet. The first field in the datasheet is set as a hyperlink and opens another form correctly. What I would like is if the user selects a record on frmChild, then a textbox on frmMain is populated by the corresponding value in the second column of the datasheet. Is it possible to do this via vba, and if so, how? I've read about solutions by using continous forms, but I'd like to stay with datasheet format if possible.

Forms :: Subform Datasheet Record Selected Display

Dec 2, 2014

In Access 2010, if you have a form with a subform in datasheet view, and you move the focus away from the subform, how can you tell which record(s) on the subform are selected?

When the subform has the focus, the selected row is shown with a blue/grey tint. But as soon as the subform loses the focus, this disappears and all rows look identical.

Its an issue as I have 2 datasheet subforms on my main form, with the 2nd showing records related to the record selected in the 1st. But as soon as the 2nd subform receives the focus, it is impossible to see which record in subform 1 was selected.

I have tried conditional formatting, but that does not work.

Moving From A Subform Within Multi-Page Tab To Selected Record And Tab?

Mar 30, 2015

I have a Form named Clients with a multi-page tab named TabCtl0.

The record source tables - primary key is [ID] , TabCtl0 has 7 tabs, the 1st named General.

The 1st 6 tabs show information from the same record.

The 7th tab contains a subform named Focus displaying continuous forms with 3 fields in each record including [ID].

What I am trying (for hours and hours without success) to do is to create a Macro that fires when I double click on a control within subform Focus that takes me to the page named General and selects the record where ID = the ID within the selected record of subform focus.

Modules & VBA :: Print Preview Report Based On Subform Record

Jan 26, 2015

I have a form created from a table that contains item information.

I have a sub form linked to a different table that contains records.

Each item has multiple records associated with it, so for example 1 record on the main form could have 10 records displayed in the sub form.

Example: Main Form :

Item | Units | Serial Number
Thermometer1 | DegC | 123456

Sub Form:

Item | Date | Actual Measurement | Unit Reading

Thermometer1 | 01/01/15 | 25 DegC | 24 DegC
Thermometer1 | 01/01/14 | 25 DegC | 23 DegC
Thermometer1 | 01/01/13 | 25 DegC | 24 DegC
Thermometer1 | 01/01/12 | 25 DegC | 26 DegC
Thermometer1 | 01/01/11 | 25 DegC | 25 DegC

I want to be able to print preview a report based on 1 record record selected in the subform. So using the example above i'd like to print the record on say 01/01/13 as a report that contains all the information from the item table and only the information on the 01/01/13 from the record table.

Remember The Selected Record - Requery - Then Go Back To Selected Record...

Jun 28, 2005

Hi guys,

Bit of a problem I'm hoping someone can help with. I have a telephone call logging system. The system is a tabbed form with each tab representing a person's Telephone Call Inbox. As new calls are entered into the database, they appear in each person's inbox until they are marked as dealt with.

This all works fine and there are no problems with the basics of it, but the problem I do have is that after I have split the database into a Back end and a Front end and distributed the Front ends to each user, when a new call is entered it doesn't appear in the persons inbox until they do a requery.

At first I sent the form to requery using the ontimer event, but the problem I have is that after every reqery the form goes back to the first record. A user on the office forum suggested I use the following code:

vCurrent = Me.Bookmark
Me.Requery
Me.Bookmark = vCurrent

But this gives me invalid bookmark errors, so I was then told to add

On Error Resume Next

But this stops the bookmark function working and instead the first record is loaded every 1 minute (as set by my timer).

Can anyone recommend a better way that actually works without invalid bookmark errors?

I have been asked by our admin person if I can make it possible to be able to print labels from it. I know it is possible via the wizard but very limited.

What we really need is to be able to select the people from the table that we want labels for.

I have added a true/false check box to the table called 'label?'

Modules & VBA :: Determine Which Printer Was Selected From The Print Dialog

Feb 10, 2015

This for an app being used in Access 2003. I'm trying to (sort of) automate naming a PDF report. After the user selects a printer from the print dialog, if the printer name is like "*PDF*" then I want to put the PDF file name in the clipboard so it can be quickly pasted in the file name of the PDF printer's save dialog.

Something like this:

Code:
Dim strSelectedPrinter as string
DoCmd.OpenReport "rpt1", acViewPreview
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdPrint

[Code]....

but that returns the name of the default printer, not the selected printer.

Reports :: Unbound Report - Print Preview OK But None Of Fields Print When Report Directly Send To Printer

May 25, 2013

I have an unbound form with an associated report. When the user hits the 'print' button on the form/screen, the report is launched in the background. In the On Load event of the report I populate the report fields from the forms field as so:

Code:
Me.txtAddrMainLine2 = "NAME " & UCase([Forms]![frm_OrderRx].[txtPatientName])

This works like a charm as long as I call the report in Print Preview mode (i.e. with acViewPreview). But if I send the report directly to the printer, none of the fields print.

I've read about using other report events to populate the fields (e.g., On Format and On Print) and also something about using TempVars to pass the data. But I haven't read anything that's clear and definitive about the full answer.

I have a DB with 1000+Records. Each record has a "History" field showing the date I last visited (about 20+Visits each). When I re-visit I print Report (A4 size) which gives me the address and previous visits, however I only want my report to show the last 6 visits.

I have tried both a Query & Subform and changed the "Top Values" from ALL to 6, but this only gives the last 6 visits from all records. I need to see the last 6 visits for each record.
