Reports :: Print To PDF Error - Cannot Open Any More Databases
Feb 9, 2015
This is the second database where this has happened to me. I have code to print a report (with several sub-reports) to PDF. When it prints, only the first couple reports appear. The rest of the pages on the PDF are blank. If I try manually saving to PDF (Save As > PDF or XPS), I get the error "Cannot open any more databases."
In the other case, my "solution" was to copy all the queries into temporary tables and use the temp tables as the datasources for the reports.
I am using an Access 2007 front end linked to an Access 2007 back end. I have a Report that the user operates by selecting the information he/she wants to see on a pop-up form and clicking a button. The Report works perfectly unless another form, called Shows Form, in the database is opened. When Shows Form is open the Report/button on the pop up form generates Error 3048: Cannot Open Any More Databases. Also when Shows Form in open, the Query that the Report calls on also won't run. The Query gives gives the same error - Cannot Open Any More Databases.
I have been through my code with a fine tooth comb to make sure all DAO.Recordsets and DAO.Databases are closed after they are used. The troublemaker Shows Form is quite complex and has many sub-forms (11), on a tab control (9 tabs). The Shows Form is the work horse of the database and the User needs to have this form open all of the time. It is inconvenient to have to close the Shows Form in order to use the Report. I am suspecting, through my internet reading, that the multiple sub-forms in the Show Form are using up resources and causing Error 3048.
I thought maybe I could look at coding the sub-forms to open only when needed - when the user clicks on the tab containing the sub-form. Would that conserve resources?
I am using Access 2010...I am suddenly getting the error 3048: Cannot open any more databases...The error occurs on the line of code: Set db = CurrentDb()
Code:
Private Sub SetInUseFalse(TelesalesId As Long) Dim db As DAO.Database Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Set db = CurrentDb() Set rst = db.OpenRecordset("Select InUseBy from tblTelesales where Telesalesid = " & TelesalesId) Run Some Code
[code]....
Why should I suddenly get this error? The error appears to be in a loop. If I close the error message, it pops up again. I have to close the database using Windows Task Manager. Is there a maximum number of connections? But I religiously close connections as indicated above!.I am only connecting to the current database (backend form frontend)Am I opening / closing connections & recordsets correctly?
I have a db that runs call stats (Master) this exports to several Department (Slave) Databses. The Slave db's can be accessed by any of number of Managers.
My problems (Amongst others!) is that I run the master every 15 mins and the slaves are linked to the master tables. How can I set this up so that these slaves can be updated whilst they are logged into?
I'm having a problem on a workstation that I've always used to create databases in Access. When I open any of my saved .mdb's I get a the error "end query expression" with the table name. The message gives me the option to click OK or Help and Help refers to "<Message> in query expression <expression>. (Error 3075)".
I've copied the .mdb's to another PC with Access installed and they open with no problem and I've removed and reinstalled Access on the problematic PC but still the same problem.
Also, I have a UPS Worldship shipping application that uses an Access database and when it opens it gives me a Micrsoft Visual C++ runtime error then closes, which may or may not be related.
I get the sense that something is corrupted in either Access or Windows XP but I'm not sure where else to look.
I have an unbound form with an associated report. When the user hits the 'print' button on the form/screen, the report is launched in the background. In the On Load event of the report I populate the report fields from the forms field as so:
This works like a charm as long as I call the report in Print Preview mode (i.e. with acViewPreview). But if I send the report directly to the printer, none of the fields print.
I've read about using other report events to populate the fields (e.g., On Format and On Print) and also something about using TempVars to pass the data. But I haven't read anything that's clear and definitive about the full answer.
Any way to list all currently opened Access databases? It feels like this must be possible by referring to the databases collection, but I just don't know how.
Also, is it possible to refer to controls on a form in one open database from code in another database? (and obviously if so, how?)
I have been an MS Excel man all along my career and I am a novice in MS Access.I have created a table, [Initial Customer Approval] which records data from a Form, [Initial Customer Approval]. Once the data is entered in the Form, I need to do some calculations based on the data entered in some of the fields in the form.I created 6 different queries for the six possible values in those fields. now for each of those queries I created respective reports.I placed a Print command button in the Form.
1. When I press the Print button it should open the report for the current record in the Form. (Currently It Opens all the reports simulatneously, with only one relevant report containing the current record; other opened reports being blank.)
2. If user presses the Print button before pressing Save button then system should prompt user.
Here is the code (Please note [reference number] is the unique ID generated for each record entered in the tabe through form):
Private bSaveClicked As Boolean Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) If Not bSaveClicked Then MsgBox "You are trying to navigate away from the active record. Please either save your changes, or press ESC to cancel your changes.", vbOKOnly + vbInformation Cancel = True
I am still trying to get a hang of development in access 2010.
I would like to design a form with a listbox or a combobox which holds all 8 of my reports (a table has all the reports), with a Print and a Preview view buttons. In addition, the user must be able to select if they want to view the report by month, quarter and the year in question.
How do i have a specific report print or previewed based on the value selected in the listbox or combobox and the date criteria.
I have a database of high-school football players, and I am looking to print out single page reports (or forms) that will show detail from several tables and queries. This will act as their resume when they visit schools on recruiting visits. The reason for needing query items, is that I have developed queries that return the most up to date height, weight, 40 time etc., and that single most up to date number is what should print, not the entire table. When I try to build a report it will let me bring in multiple tables, but not queries.
I'm scanning bar codes into the record search box, most of the time it works as it should but occasionally I get multiple "cannot open any more databases" errors. It still finds the product record but the error messages are super annoying. I am sure to clear the memory on the scanner each time before I scan in a new barcode but it doesn't seem to matter. Also sure to only have one or 2 forms open at a time, that doesn't seem to matter either. Most of the time I don't get the errors but when I have to click through like 10+ error messages (all identical). I only have one database open so I'm not sure what it even means. Also I have tried this in 2 different forms and it's the same for both forms. Seems like I get the errors in my initial scan and then after clearing them it seems to work without errors.
Every month, I create 15 individual reports with each report filtered by two fields, let's say Dept and Exec. You change Dept and Exec via a combo box drop down based on a table, and this information is passed to the query behind the report. Now, I repeat this process for every report. I use an unbound form that gathers the "Title", which is the Dept Name +"Special Report"; report Date using "as of" [DATE], and an updated through [Second Date].
Each monthly set of reports is sent to a new directory and folder (i.e. M:MOR Reports2005January. This changes each month. Somehow, I'd like to automate this where each report prints with its name to a newly created folder in pdf format.
I have been reading prior posts and am coming up with some ideas like adding a "selected" field to the Dept/Exec table and then step through those selected records to determine which report you are running. It takes a long time to print these to pdf in a new directory every month.
I have a report based on a query that has data for many dates. At the moment I have put a specific date in the criteria of the query so that I could build the report format. So it now displays all the data for the date i have in the criteria section. I will need to run this report several times per week so the specified date (and corresponding data in the report) will need to be changed to a new date when I open the report i.e. when I open my report I want to show data in the report only for a specified date.
Can I create a date parameter box open up when I open the report? Can I create a form with a button that when I click will open the report displaying data for that date? What would be the best way?I also need to display the specified date on the report.
how to print mutiple "invoice-records"..I want to print multiple times the same report but with different values ex. invoices (based on a query). I have the report and the queries ready but how can I automate this task?
I have a form where a user can press a button, which then prints a report. The report is basically the same as the form but laid out neater and in a format that fits it to 1 A4 page. For one of these reports, I would like it to run a different query depending upon which form is used. I know with the forms you can use an open args property but is there a similar way to pass this to a report and have it print immediately?
I want to put a print button on my data entry form that prints the current record in a report that is laid out all nice and pretty. I found this code that works, but it goes straight to the printer - it does not bring up the printer dialog so you can select a printer.
Code: Private Sub RecordPrint_Click() Dim strWhere As String If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False End If
I have a continuous form that displays a list of invoices (frmInvoiceList) based on an adjustable filter contained within the form. I have the filters working the way that I want them through VBa and I have a button on each record to open a report (rptInvoice). Inside that report, I have some controls to "print", "email", and "export to PDF". Again all that works just the way I want. The Form and the Report are based on a different query and each has an InvoiceID field to link.
What I am trying to do is put the Print, Email, and Export buttons on the main form which would perform the appropriate action for all the records that are displayed on the form. I've been able to get the Print function to work to a degree. It will print all the records, but it changes the background colors based on the alternating records. When I go to Email or Export, it creates a single file with multiple pages and each page is a new record, again with the alternating background colors.
Ideally, I would like to have a separate file exported for each record that can be renamed and archived separately. I'm not so concerned with the email function but if it would be possible to generate a separate report for each invoice, then pull the appropriate email address for the record, that would be really nice.
I've tried some "for" and "do" loops that I found through some Googling but none of the samples ended up working like I wanted.
I have four forms named [Information Form], [Evidence Form], [Subject Form], and [Vehicle Form]. The Final Form is a Tabbed Form named [New Incident]. The tabbed form has four tabs, with each tab displaying one of the forms above. I also have a Print Command Button named [Print All] underneath the tabbed portion of the [New Incident] form.
Also, All of the four forms are set to data entry - yes, so that on open they will be clean and read for new record entry. I need the [Print All] button to do, just that, print everything that has or has not just been entered into the four forms, even if some are printed blank because they were not necessary for this particular report. One thin of note is that each form on the tab has a field for the "Incident Number" which will be the same for all four forms.
Hi. I have a problem but not sure if I can do what I want to. I have 7 daily reports that are based on different queries but want to be able to print all 7 at the same time using only one command button, but I also want to be able to have all seven run using a week commencing date entered into a parameter or something similar when the print button is pressed.
I have a little print problem I have a student database with student code, addresses, names etc. Because there are so many records i nedd to print them in batches of 100 i did select top 100 but i have duplicates Is there a way where before a reports gets printed to check to see if its a duplicate to print only one. thanks
Hello, I have a table (named EFORMS) with one field which stores the names of reports.
I have cretaed a form (named FORM1) on which I have placed a listbox which has its source to the table EFORMS so that I can see the list of forms available in my database.
Each form has its source to a different query that get's its criteria from a txtbox placed on my FORM1.
I was thinking of placing some code to the double click event of my listbox so that once selected, users can automatically print the report.
I have used a report wizard to create invoice format.Currently, when I run the report, it will generate all the other invoices continously (a bit like a continuous long roll of of toilet paper). However, I only need to print a particular invoice at a time.
1. How do I only print a particular invoice number, without having all the rest to be generated?
2. Is there a way to format the report settings into the print button on the form to print this particular invoice, where the form is showing the record?
