Reports :: Remove Restore Window Icon On Report Menu Bar

May 2, 2013

I have created a custom menu used on my reports which contains all the icons I need and anchored them to the right side of the report. I have been able to remove the min, max and the close icons from the default report menu bar at the top right hand side as well as the "Ask A Question" dropdown. But I am not able to remove the "Restore window" button that comes with the report print preview.

How do I remove the "Restore Window" icon from the report's menu bar?

I'm using Access 2003...

Reports :: Print Report / Disable Restore Button - Inconsistencies

Dec 3, 2014

I have a database with several reports that get constantly printed, however I am having an issue with their display properties that sometimes cause errors.I need the report to come up on top of everything, maximized and with the menu bar available to allow for it to be printed or close it. The report window cannot have "minimize" or "restore" available to make sure nobody access any form behind it.

To achieve this in a form I generally use the modal property, however if I do this in a report I cannot get to the menu bar to print or close the print preview.Thinking that modal was out of the question, I went ahead and maximized the report on load and set its properties to the image attached. The db is then compiled (accde) and then distributed.

On my computer (it is being developed on my machine) the report loads fine (maximized) with no min, max or restore buttons and the print preview menu bar is shown with the print and close buttons available. See "My PC" image attached. On any other computer, the report opens up maximized but the report's restore and close buttons are enabled, however the print and close buttons on the print preview menu bar are greyed out. See "Other PC" image attached. Why the inconsistent behaviour when using the same front end?

Restore Window Problem

Oct 27, 2006

Hi there, i have looked into this but can't find a real solution. I have decided to keep certain of my forms maximised. I have tried pop up, or just have it ordinary sized but this doesn't work for my purposes.

So, the problem is that when the form is maximised, no matter what you do, you can't get rid of the "Restore Window" button in the menu bar. I have tried to make a workaround by putting "DoCmd.Maximize" in the Resize event of the form. The strange thing is that the event does fire but the form doesn't get maximised. Any idea why this is happening and what I could do to solve this issue?

Restore Window Size On Close

Jan 12, 2006

Hey guys,

I figured out to maximize a window when a report is opened, but now I want to restore the window sizes when this report is closed.

I think I kind of know what to do with the DoCmd.Restore and something about OnClose, but I'm lost in the syntax. If someone could help me out by giving me the syntax and where to put this code that would be fantastic :)

Cannot Hide DB Window With Custom Icon

Jun 27, 2005

In Access, Tools->Start... I uncheck the "Show Database Window" checkbox to hide the database window when the database opens.

When I enter an icon to be used for the program, the hide DB window utility cease to work on Windows 2000, but not on Windows XP, e.g. the DB window is shown when opening the database on a Window 2000 system.

Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Reports :: Remove Prompt While Running Report

Apr 8, 2015

I have a report that is created from the following query (qryTotalProjectHours). What I am trying to do is get the total hours spent on Tasks within a given time period.

Code:

SELECT TasksEntries.Project, TasksEntries.Task, Sum(TimeTracker.WorkHours) AS TotalHours
FROM TasksEntries INNER JOIN TimeTracker
ON (TasksEntries.EmployeeId = TimeTracker.EmployeeId) AND (TasksEntries.TaskID = TimeTracker.TaskId)
GROUP BY TasksEntries.Project, TasksEntries.Task;

I accept the start and end dates in a form and pass it like shown below. WorkDate is a column in the TimeTracker table and is not present in any other table.

Code:

strWhere = "WorkDate BETWEEN #" & txtMgrRptStartDate & "# AND #" & txtMgrRptEndDate & "#"
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptTotalProjectHours", acViewPreview, "qryTotalProjectHours", strWhere, acWindowNormal

When the report is invoked, I get a box where it says
"Enter parameter value" for Workdate..

Is there anyway I can get rid of the prompt? I never thought you needed the column name in the SELECT statement to be able to run this.I should add the I tried the query with the WorkDate hardcoded in there and it worked fine and returned the correct results

Reports :: Possible To Open A Report With Access Main Window Hidden?

Jul 18, 2014

I'm working on a database that produces employee contracts. To make it look as professional as possible I hide the Access main window when the splash screen loads using the ShowWindow function. The various forms to check and enter details all pop up without any problem, but when I get to the last stage where I use a report to produce the contract and then open it in PrintPreview mode, it won't display (unless I show the main window again , which looks very untidy!). Is it actually possible to display a report with the main Access window hidden?

Reports :: Column Heading On Report To Pull From Main Menu?

Nov 20, 2014

I have fields on the main menu where folks put in a start and end date prior to running a report. I'm doing a monthly report that pulls current month, and two prior months of data. For example, the user selects a date range of 10/1/14 to 10/31/14 the report will show August, September and October results.

I need the column headings to change each month depending on the date range they select to run the report so in November they will pull 11/1/14 to 11/30/14 and get September, October and November.

The headings for the columns would then adjust.

I put an unbound text box with the formula as follows in the control source of the report page header to pull the month that is equal to the current month minus two (I'm just showing one of the column headings formula):

=Format([Forms]![Main Menu]![EndDate]-2,"mmmm yyyy")

This is not working. It's pulling the current month which I have set to run for October so it should show August 2014.

Reports :: Display Report In Popup Window And Maximize In Print Preview Layout

Dec 22, 2013

I have created a report with a subreport for my database. The user selects the project for which he/she wants to see a report. Once the project is selected, the report is displayed in a popup window and maximized in the print preview layout. This allows the user to view and read the report. Once this is done, there are no buttons or menus on the screen that allows the user to send the report to a printer or file.

Other than the report, there are minimize / maximize and close buttons at the top right of the window and page selection buttons at the bottom left of the window. If the user wants to print the report, they must either hit ctrl-P or right click the mouse on the screen to display a menu from which the user can select print to open a print dialog box. Is there any way to add a button or menu to the print preview that appears on the screen to make printing easier?

Database Window Not Closing With Startup Menu!!!

May 10, 2006

MS Access 2000

Hello everybody,

I am having a strange problem and despite trying out all the suggestions already discussed in this forum, the problem still persists.

My DB is already complete and I have done the following
1) Startup menu/uncheck all the option boxes
2) Tools menu/options/unchecked "windows in taskbar"
3) converted the DB into mde. file
4) Disabled the shift key
However, despite doing all the above, the "Database windows" shows up behind all the forms.

As per suggestions given by many here, I have also used

DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWindowHide

This also does not work.

Also tried running the following in a macro from this link
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0019.htm

All the above have not worked and if anyone has any ideas or another way of doing this, I would really appreciate it.

Hide Access Window Task Bar And Reports

Nov 15, 2005

All,

I've been using Dev Avish's excellent code shown within the sample database section to hide access windows. I've taken his call fsetAccessWindow function and set it to 1 or normal in two separate databases. Both databases seem to work slightly differently. The idea is that opening the database produces one Visible instance of access on the taskbar which is the purple standard graphic (Access 2000 / Windows 2000). With the first database I have set up reports through the active x control as required when using dev's code and even when I hit the report button the user is only aware of one visible instance of access as the purple colour graphic.

I am trying to implement the same code in a second database and have copied the code from the previous database into this database. It works great for the forms however there is a slight glitch when report forms are accessed. Rather than remaining with the purple access part on the task bar the task bar section is split into two between the form and the report. In the previous database users would not notice that the report had been opened at all. (although technically it was still running in the backrground)

I have checked most of the properties between the two database forms and they would appear to be the same..

Has anyone got any ideas why the taskbar is behaving differently between these two databases there must be some difference between my set up but as yet cannot find it??

Thanks Mark

Thanks in advance!
