Reports :: Report Field Not Growing Correctly With Transparent Border
Jul 17, 2013
I have a report, and the "reason" field is one that can grow as needed. The following string is in the field: "MISSING IMPLEMENTATION PLAN, MISSING SERVICE LOGS FOR DATE OF SERVICE". I bolded MISSING, where the space hits the border. My standard setting for the border style is Transparent, and the space is causing the growing to not work properly. TransparentBorder.pdf shows the incorrect growing. When I change the border style to Solid, the growing works correctly, as shown in the SolidBorder.pdf file.why the growing is not working properly with the Transparent border, but does work correctly with the Solid border?

I have seven (sub) reports put on to a large report. How can I get the reports to shrink or grow according to how much info they have in them. I have tried Detail - Can Shrink, Can grow - but this doesn't seem to work. At the moment I have them all lined up but they are all overlapping each other.

in my report I have table made from 25 fields (5x5) and they all have the Can Grow Option turned on.
However the lines and boxes separating the fields do not grow with my fields and I get plenty of intersections and over lapping.
Is there a way to make boxes and lines grow with the text box?

My report generates base on 2 date inputs(from textboxes) namely, ProcStartDate & ProcEndDate & a combobox(cmbRptSupplier) to select the supplier:
Code:
Private Sub btnReport_Click()
Dim strDocName, strWHERECondition As String
strWHERECondition = ""
If Me.cmbRptSupplier = "" Or IsNull(Me.cmbRptSupplier) = True Then
[Code].....
When I leave my cmbRptSupplier blank (so that I can leave supplier out of my criteria), & fill in 1/2/2013 for ProcStartDate, 14/3/2013 for ProcEndDate, I get ALL the invoices displayed in return for my report. Even with those before 1/2/2013.

I have been trying to figure out why my subreport is only showing sales price for only one of the records on my subform. Everything else works as it should, but it only displays the sales price for the record which is active on the subform.Attached is the database with the subreport called rptProposalItems with the field 'Sales Price' which is experiencing the issue.

I have a report with several forms, these are all graphs.
In order to fit them all on one report, I need them to be able to grow.
This works fine in Report View, they grow as expected, however when exporting to PDF, printing or print preview, they do not grow. I set them all to Yes for Can Grow and it displays correctly in Report View.

This is re-statement for clarity of earlier thread deleted.
In Access 2010 I have a Report with a Detail Section that shows a record and a Sub-report that shows the many records of a one-to-many relationship.
The Report Detail Section Property Sheet specifies a Back Color and a different Alternate Back Color.
Report View alternates the Detail Section background colors correctly.
Print View and Printing DO NOT correctly alternate the background colors. Back color and Alternate Back Color appear in irregular sequences.
how to fix it?

I've developed and used over the past 20 years to handle my home finances. It includes several charts that were probably created back in Access 2003, which I used up until a couple of weeks ago when I subscribed to Office 365 Home and set up Office 2013, including Access.Most things worked without a hitch. In fact, all my old VBA code seems to run just fine.
However, the charts don't work. The right side of chart gets cut off way short of the margin both in print preview and report view. Everything else looks fine and the data is correct.
I've fiddled and fussed and fangled with zoom, clip and stretch. I've tried to resize the chart area - it just snaps back. I've tried everything I can think of based on 20 years of fussing with Access charts - which has always been a major pain - without success.

I know there are numerous threads regarding dsum() on the forum, but I wasn't able to find the exact answer to my problem.
The root of my problem is that I'm trying to update a field on a table using dsum, which references another query to update the table. Although I have all of the correct keys from the physical table joined to the query in the dsum function, the code/ms access seems to ignore the joins. As a result, all payees are having their "vol" field set instead of a select subset.
Query (GetTxnVolAmtTR"):
SELECT p.payee_id, sum(txn_volume) AS vol, t.market, t.period_id
FROM ft_payees AS p, ft_txn_summary AS t
WHERE p.payee_id=t.payee_id And p.market=t.market
GROUP BY t.payee_id, t.period_id, t.market, p.payee_id;
Update statement (references the query above):
UPDATE tmp_ft_component AS rc
SET rc.volume = Dsum("vol","GetTxnVolAmtTR","GetTxnVolAmtTR.payee_id= " & [rc.payee_id] And "GetTxnVolAmtTR.market= " & [rc.market] And "GetTxnVolAmtTR.period_id= " & [rc.period_id] & "")
WHERE rc.component_name='Total Revenue';
as you can see, I have all of the fields I want joined, but the code seems to ignore this. I've tried looking at this site: http://www.mvps.org/access/general/gen0018.htm , but haven't found my answer. Any help would be much appreciated!

I made a report that have 'txtRemarks' field, I just want to get remarks automatically in 'txtRemarks' field based on the other field in report. that is why I used a function like below:
Code:
Private Function Estd_Remarks(Estd_Point As Long) As String
If Me.Estd_Point < 20 Or Me.Estd_Point = 0 Then
Estd_Point = "Earlier Established"
Esle
Estd_Point = "OK"
End If
Estd_Remarks = Estd_Point
End Function
And I wrote in properties 'On Format' event this code below:
Code:
Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)
If Estd_Remarks = "Ok" Then
Me.txtRemarks = "Ranked & Sortlisted"
Else
Me.txtRemarks = "Estd_Remarks"
End If
End Sub
When preview the report then it shows
Compile error
Argument optional

I have a report that is looking up min and max quality specifications for a product. The table with the specifications has a Yes/No check box field for when the specs are defined as "Internal". So the table looks like Product/MinValue/MaxValue/Internal
I want the report to display "TEST AND RECORD" when the Internal box is checked where the MinValue and MaxValue (that are stored in the table) would be displayed otherwise.

Customers who are using Acess 2003 seem to have what I call a goofy display of Tab Controls on forms. At a specific PC you can create a tab control on a form and set the properties to Transparent but the tab stays white while the form is another color. When I take control of the application through a VPN connection and view this specific form over the internet the tab appears transparent and the form color is visible in the tab control.
When I use my own PC running Win XP to create a form in Access 2003, the tab control on the form is transparent. When I then copy the mdb that stores this form onto my customer's machine, or import the form to an mdb on the customer machine the tab control is white even though the property is set to transparent. When I copy the mdb from my customer's PC with the misbehaving form and tab control to my PC and view the form, the tab control appears transparent. :confused:
Is there a setting on the actual screen display that is causing this problem or am I missing another property on the form and/or tab control? This working on some but not all PC's is annoying. :mad:
Thanks in advance!

I have created a report but discovered that I need to add a couple more fields.
I created a query for the one field and the other field I added to the existing queries.
Neither field is listed in the "add existing fields" drop down list. The fields have been added to the corresponding forms and tables.
How can I add these two fields without creating a whole new report?

I have a database with a bunch of related tables. One holds information on (let's say) types of food. A field in that table tells whether the food is HOT or COLD. Foods are grouped by MEALS in a related table - the PK of the foods table is stored as an field in the MEALS table. What people here are looking for is a report that lists all the foods in each MEAL, the temperature of the food, and whether the meal is HOT, COLD, or MIXED - foods are both HOT and COLD. I've got a report that lists all the FOODs, grouped by MEALs - it's just the overall temperature of the MEAL that I am missing right now.

I have two numeric fields which make up what looks like a full decimalised number ie 20.22 - only I am unable to put the decimal point in between the two numbers.
I thought about putting in an unbound object such as a picture of a full-stop but cant get it anchored at the correct angle to make it look convincing in the report.As this is such a huge database I have tried to amend the tables, but it loses vital data ?

I have a report where I added text then a date field based on a Table. In the table I have specified the "Co_ContractEndDate" for input mask as dd/mm/yyyy, however the format to display as dd mmmm yyyy. This works in the Form and in the report as it's own control text box, however when I merge the field with some text the formating changes.
My report text box is as follows:
="The Program Period for this Program will finish on " & Co_ContractEndDate] &"."
The output in Print Preview is:
The Program Period for this Program will finish on 30/06/2013.
I would like to show it as:
The Program Period for this Program will finish on 30 June 2013.
As a work around I have aligned the date field with the label field to get the outcome but as it is a sentence I would like to add a full stop at the end. how to show this text box in design view?

I'm currently creating an invoicing report for a company, and for record purposes they need a dynamic field on the report for the specific Invoice Number of each client they invoice. I have the field set up currently as a text box =[Invoice#] so they have to enter an invoice number when they generate the report. However, when I generate the report and put in a number, I'm getting some whacky outputs.
For example, I've tested it with a test client, and when I give the client an invoice number of 1, the report somehow changes it to 49.

I have a report that has four fields: Item, Qty, Price and TotalPrice for each line in the detail section. Total Price is calculated by multiplying Qty x Price. The text box name that holds the Total Price for each line is txt_TotalPrice. I want to have a Grand Total in the report footer. I placed a text box in the footer with the following expression: =sum([txt_TotalPrice]). When I run the report Access prompts me for the parameter value of txt_TotalPrice. I've been trying to solve this for quite a while now - but I'm totally baffled.

I have a form with attached subform from which I can choose which records to send to a report. All records in the base table have a comment text field for the user to enter additional data (comments). Typically, there are none, but when there is, if it is only a single record sent to the report, the comment is printed in the page footer. However, if there are multiple records being sent to the report and only one record has text in the comment field, unless it's the last record it the subform, it will not print in the report. There isn't enough room in the detail section to include the comment field (like I said, it's typically not used and when it is, they can be lengthy). Is there a way to get the comment field to print in the report page footer when it is not either the only record selected, or the last record?
