Reports :: Setting Object To Visible When Using OutputTo Method
Jul 28, 2014
I have a series of reports that are built to replicate the order forms of our suppliers. On each I have a text box for Air Freight that I only want visible when the airfreight ID is ticked.
I have this working fine using an if statement on the Load Event of the reports. However when I use the OutputTo command in VBA it seems to bypass the Load Event. Any event that is triggered using OutputTo.
I have also tried setting the .visible in VBA but can't get the coding to work as I am using a variable report name depending on the SupplierName and when I try to use the Reports! nomenclature it will not accept the Report name being a variable (ie. Reports!ReportName![Airfreight].Visible where ReportName is a variable).
I’m working on a report that I want to show on the web as a Snapshot file. I created a Macro using OutputTo method to export the report. If I type the file name and location on the Output File it works perfectly, but the problem is that I want Macros to read the file name from a combo box since the file name will change every day. Here is the code I got so far.
C:Test””&FORMS!frm_FORM2!cbo_Name&”.snp”
Every time I run this Macro I got the following message:
“The report snapshot was not created because you don’t have enough free disk space for temporary work files.”
Now!, when I type the file name to that specific location Macro does the job perfectly.
Is there any way I can get the File name from a combo box located in FORM2.
Thank you so very much in advanced. Your help is always a blessing.
I am trying to join a number of reports into one report. I have a generic report which displays a different dataset given the user's choice on a form. I created a collection where I can store multiple instances of this report (called mcolReportInstances) - this works just fine.
I was looking to combine all the reports in the collection into one report. To that end, I have created a report with a number of subreport controls but with no sourceobject. In the On_Open event of this blank report, I am trying to set the source object of the subreport to one of reports in my collection:
I want to disable a button right after click it. Because I could not disable a control that has got the focus, i tried to shift the focus to another control; however, all controls that I tried to shift the focus to don't support the method (SetFocus = true).
I want to do this on a subform's control, but I keep getting this error: Object does not support this property or method.
Method 'Collect' of object'_Recordset' failed is the error I am getting when I try to set a record field to a form text field that has the system date set to it.
Specifically.
yrst is the recordset
I set a number of recordset fields to values on a form with no problem.
Included on the form is a field "txtNewUpdtDt". The control source is =Date()
The statement that is failing is yrst!SysUpdtDt = Me.txtNewUpdtDt
This had been working until today. I googled the error message and found a lot of hits, but none that specifically addressed my situation.
I am attempting to pull data from an XML file via VBA without doing the import on external data. I created a blank table called "tblHolding". In theory, my code works the way i want which is: User clicks button, file explorer opens for them to select the file, imports data to "tblHolding", and msg box saying complete.
It runs through the code but doesn't import. It errors at the below code. Also, where do i reference the table so I can append the data.Fails saying method importxml of object application failed
Code: Private Sub Command234_Click() Dim strFile As String 'Filename Dim strFileList() As String 'File Array Dim intFile As Integer 'File Number Dim strPath As String ' Path to file folder Dim f As Object
I have a strange behaviour on a module which reference to Microsoft Outlook Object Library 14.0. The below code got an error 461 on the folderoutlook.display code,i.e. the method is not found. The funny thing is that the same code gives no problem in another accdb file, exactly same code with same reference on same machine.
Set appOutlook = GetObject(, "Outlook.Application") Set appOutlook = New Outlook.Application Set namespaceOutlook = appOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI") Dim folderOutlook As Folder Set folderOutlook = namespaceOutlook.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox) FolderOutlook.Display
I am trying to format an excel spreadsheet through access, specifically trying to convert a column from text to dates (I receive the data in text format and need to translate it to dates).
Code: Dim excelApp As Object Set excelApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application") excelApp.screenupdating = False excelApp.Visible = False Set excelWB = excelApp.workbooks.Open("Z:DataBasicSMData.xlsx")
[Code] ....
I'm no longer getting an error, but it isn't actually modifying the spreadsheet...
I know there have been a good number of questions about visibility in forms already but I couldn't find a solution to my problem (or maybe I just didn't get it).
Basically, I have a tabular form (more than one record displayed at once) and one the field is of the Yes/No type. For each record, I'd like to have a text box that displays 'pending', set as visible if the field value is 'Yes' and set as invisible if the field value is 'No'. The table is as follows: id : auto-number Flag: Yes/No [Yes]
If I use the following code on the Flag button: Private Sub Flag_AfterUpdate() Me.pending2.Visible = Me.Flag.Value End Sub
all the 'pending' text boxes appear and disappear together (instead of just the relevant one). I thought of using another text box, with the same data source ('Flag') but which would set itself to visible or invisible wrt to its own value but I couldn't find a way to do it.
Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance ! and many thanks already for the forum and the contributions - it's been extremely helpful, esp. for a beginner.
I have a form "WorksheetList" that has a list of records upon which when one selects a record a new form opens "Worksheet" with the data from "WorksheetList" everything seemed to be working fine then suddenly I get the error "Method 'item' of object 'forms' failed"... Here's my code:
I have created a report which contains within it multiple sub-reports, which I use to generate a document for management meetings on a bi-weekly basis.
For each of these I have the subreports filtered to a unique number for consideration that period e.g. LIKE "88/00039" which relates to my data.
In order to change this I have to manually update each of the filter commands within the subreports but I assume there must be an easier 'catch-all' method of achieving this?
Ideally I'd be looking for a command prompt so I could enter just the number sequence e.g. "88/00040" and then enter this (via a corresponding macro or similar) to update the filter commands.
I am working on my DB for work and would like to display all of the report names that are listed in the Reports-Objects of my DB.
I would like to display a Form with two boxes. The left box would display the names of the reports as listed in the Objects-Reports. When a report is highlighted in the left box it would give a description of the report in the right box. When you double click on the report name it would open the report.
Since I am fairly new to Access could you give me an example of what I would like to accomplish? Your assistance is appreciated.
If it possible to change if a group is visible based on what page a different group is printed on.
The report I'm working on is a Invoice and it has subtotals in one group and totals in another group.
If the totals are going to print on page 1 then there is no need to print the subtotals. Is there a way to know what page the totals will print on so I can set visible for subtotal group to true or false?
I'm running Access 2003 and my question relates to delivery notes that are produced for drivers as reports. These delivery notes have a blank payment box for the driver to complete if the customer pays upon delivery.
As more and more customers are prepaying by credit cards, I'd like this payment box to be automatically filled with a "PAID" text which will let the driver know the order has already been paid for.
The delivery note is produced from an "Orders" table which has a "Paid" field whose value is automatically set to "Yes" when the order has been paid for.
I was hoping to be able to place a "PAID" label on the report which is only visible when the Paid field of the underlying query is Yes.
As things are at the moment I cannot see any way to put any conditional statement onto this Text/Label. The only options for the "Is Visible" property of the text are Yes or No.
Imagine that you see a column of values and then a total at the bottom. The only issue is that the total value does not appear until you click on it.
Any setting that would cause a total value in a footer section to not appear automatically?
Behavior is noticed on reports as well as subreports. An image is attached.. Imagine the $37,000,000 simply not appearing until it is clicked with the mouse.
I have a form with a Yes/No checkbox. Sometimes a data entry person will use this, sometimes an associated report is printed and a technician in the field will be required to fill check the box by hand and return the report for data entry. what I have tried to format the check box, if the box isn't already checked, I can't get it to show up clearly on the printed report. It's set to Visible, width 6pt, solid, black, always display, yet it still is barely visible. Ive tried increasing the grid line thicknesses, making it shadowed, nothing seems to work. Is there anything I can do?
I have a report that displays on a continuous style report. What courses the employee have been on and when they expire
right I have field call expirydate and another call dayover showing the number of days till that course has expired also I have made a label called Expired1
now what I'm trying to do.....
if the expirydate has passed I want the expired1 label to be visible and dayover field to become invisible
I have tried
Code: Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer) If Me.Expirydate < Date Then Me.expired1.Visible = True Me.DaysOver.Visible = False End If If Me.Expirydate > Date Then Me.expired1.Value = False Me.DaysOver.Value = True End If
I have also tried the code on current event on the report
now my problem if one of the course has expired it will show the label called Expired1 but on all the records but I only want it to display on the record that has expired and leave the daysover text box visible if course has not expired
I've accomplished some simpler things like hiding fields based on the data in another field but nothing very complex. To the point: I have a report that shows data in both rows and columns, the report has a 7 columns, 3 of which could or could not contain data other than zero, in which case the column is not displayed. The problem I have is that it could be any of those three at any given time depending on what data is available for that report and what the user wants to see. Basically, if a given company has no data regarding column "A", then column A is hidden, but the main grouping is done through rows so all companies contain at least 0 for all columns (what I did is that, if a field sums the whole column returns 0, then the column is not visible). What I need to get working is the second part of this, have the columns rearrange themselves depending on which column is hidden (it could be that all 3 are hidden). How could I make this work? (btw, autoshrink is not usefull for this since it only shrinks vertically, not horizontally).
I have 2 tables on one report, 1 is visible, the other visible = no, Is there a way to make that visible = yes when you reach a certain count (60days)...
My student is doing a project on question paper generation in which he selects questions from each lesson needed and also some of these questions have images associated with them. So, if these questions are selected, the image control in the report displays it.
If there is no image, the space for the control is left in tact. I tried changing the visible property for the image control in the Detail_Format event procedure. But this code is not reached at all and the space is still left. I am not storing the image directly in the field but its path in a text field.
I want that the space occupied by the image control removed. I tried the suppression thing but obviously it did not work.
I have stumbled across an issue in my report involving the Report.SourceObject property. The section of the report contains a subreport that needs to change dynamically to display the report that relates to the corresponding test. When trying to change the subreports.Sourceobject property I get the error Run-time error 2191: You cant set the Source Object Property in the print preview or after printing has started. This is very clear to me what the limitation is, however I was wondering if there was some way around this.
I have currently tried creating multiple subreports that are stacked on each other with visible property set to false. Then I change the specific subreport visible property base of a select. This worked, but was extremely hard on the machine and printer as there is about 15 different possible subreports.
Secondly I have tried exporting it to RTF and just manually copying and pasting the tables. The down side with this is all the formatting and work I have put into the report as a whole goes out the window so if possible would like to avoid this situation as well.
I have a database that I use for keeping track of clients and printing invoices using a form/sub-form and report/sub-report. I want an image to be visible on my sub-report when I choose Received Payment in my sub-form. Right now I have my image set to visible = no.
