Reports :: Sub-reports With Pictures - Images Failing To Load

Dec 11, 2013

I have a Report containing a sub-report which holds the pictures. Typically there are 3-4 pictures per A4 page and 2-3 pages, so not millions, but for some reason whenever I load I get between 1-3 pictures a page and the rest show as blank. I can repeatedly reload time after time and get a seemingly random number of successful images.

The original images are on a network drive (but connectivity is good). They are high quality images but the load time isn't that bad (Is there a 'normal' load time for these things?) I wonder if it's just timing out after the first X pictures..

Reports :: Output Access Reports As JPG To Display In Pictures Screen Saver

Sep 2, 2013

I have been tasked with creating a database to log employee suggestions and then automatically present reports around the site. I have developed the database and it works OK and can output *.PDF reports, but I'm having problems with how to display these reports. My idea was to output the reports automatically as *.TIFF or *.JPG files and have them stored in a folder that the My Pictures screensaver uses. The reports (in fact, any site report stored in this folder) can then be shown on any screen dotted around the site when it goes into screensaver mode. However I can't find any way to output/convert to a picture file.

The other option is to create a webpage that rotates through the saved PDFs, but this isn't ideal as the PC users will have to load the webpage to display the reports.

Reports :: Insert Pictures In Reports From Links

Jan 13, 2014

I am creating a database that people can upload links to pictures within the database. (I do not want them to upload the pictures themselves because I am afraid the data will get to large - or am I misunderstanding how pictures are added to a database in access?) Now I want to be able to put those pictures in some reports.

Questions:
1) is it possible to insert a picture from a link (instead of an attached picture)?
2) If not would it work if I uploaded the picture to the database?
3) Am I incorrect about the way access deals with uploaded pictures? Does it just save a link or does it actually upload a picture into the database making it that much larger?

Reports :: Displaying Linked Images In Reports

Jul 9, 2013

Access 2007
Windows Vista
GOAL: Display linked images in image control, and to ultimately to export reports to pdf to share with family by email or to print
ERROR: There isnt enough free memory to update the display. Close unneeded programs and try again.

Ive created a DB for family heirlooms and as part of this Ive included images. Ive done this by storing the filename of the picture as text in the table tblPicture with a one to many relationship to the tblItem. This allows for many pictures of the item itself. I wanted to be able to show the most represent able photo of each item and added a checkbox titled primary picture to the tblPicture. I use this value in the querys to filter out all but one image per record.

I've added around 450 items to date, many of which have multiple pictures. I have started to run into some memory trouble now when running a few query driven reports.

I have stored only the file name in a text field in a table of the DB. I store all of my images in an images folder that is relative and constant to the DB location. I use code to display the images on the form with no problems (yet).

For displaying images on my reports,
1. I check to see if the record has an image path stored
2. If not I set the image control on the report to nothing
3. If there is a relative path stored I collect the DB path, and add the relative path and set the image control to that concatenated path

Code:
Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)
Dim strDBPath As String
Dim strRelativePath As String
Dim strPath As String

[code]...

Lastly, I have a few different pre-built reports that generate any number of records. I can select by the original owner of the item. If that person has only a few items to their name I have no problems.how can I set up my report to display my reports with images to avoid the lack of memory. Is using the image control and setting the picture property in code wrong?

Reports :: Unbound Object Frame Failing To Display Linked Image At Correct Resolution

May 18, 2013

I am using an unbound object frame to display an .png image file which is set in vba.

The image is an excel chart saved as a .png

The problem I have however is that the image I save from Excel is great quality, and is pretty tack sharp, but when I display the same file in the unbound object frame in access, it is not nearly as sharp.

I am setting the picture property of the control as:

ubImageUserChart = "c: empmyChart.png"

It displays alright, but is just a bit fuzzy - still quite legible, but it is a complex graph with a lot going on - has regressions and formulas etc on the graph, and they need to be very clear.

BTW - the unbound frame is the same size as the Excel chart which gets saved as a .png file. If I tile the images (Access unbound frame and original file in picassa preview) side by side - they are identical - size, orientation etc.

It is not practical for me to try and do the chart natively in access as it is way to complex. I am using access vba to drive an excel session to do all the statistical yack work and chart rendering, then displaying a png image of the resulting chart in an unbound object frame in access.

Network FE/BE Issue? - Complex Form/Subform Failing To Load

Dec 7, 2006

Hello all,

I have created a FE/BE database which is operating on a network. There is one FE for each person (approx 150) all accessing 1 BE. There are at most, maybe 10 people using it at once. The database has been working well for about 2 months.

My problem is not with data corruption (touch-wood!), but with a complex form.

The Form is split into a Header/Footer, with a Detail section containing a subform. The main form filters records that appear on the subform. The subform is continous, with several conditional formatting cells per record.

Most of the time it works fine, but occasionally, the main form opens, but the subform fails to load/open. All I see is a white page with the main form header displaying correctly along the top 1/3rd of the screen. No error message is displayed. If I print the page using a Report (The subform and Report use the same query) the page prints perfectly with all records showing.

I have seen this problem on several different workstations, only to try again later to see it working (having closed the db, logging off then back on again)

I am at a loss with this one. Is it a problem with Access or the network? I am unable to find anything similar to this problem on the forum. Can anyone shed any light on it?

Reports And Images

Apr 17, 2008

I have a field in my table that has a path to an image.

I was wondering if there was a way to get the image to show up on a report...

I have all the other fields formated with some text...would be nice to put the image on the bottom of the form.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Images Ok In Forms But Not In Reports

Apr 11, 2015

I have an INVENTORY database for work that I created. It got up to about 1 GB in file size and it stopped letting me add images (about 5000 so far; 10000 more need to be added). I was loading them (attachments) directly into the database. Obviously that was the wrong thing to do.

So I went back into the database to delete the images / attachments columns in my tables as well as change my many forms and tons of reports to reflect the table's text field for the link on my hard drive to each image (using the control source via property sheet to view each image in both forms and reports). After about 800 links, the images do show up on the forms okay, but now only sporadically show up in reports; in any view mode and with printing. This is very frustrating.

Is this a MS glitch? A memory issue? How can this be fixed? I really do not want to break my database into many smaller databases; it's just not not logical.Image type makes no difference whether it shows up or not; 99% jpg though.

PS - the other downfall I seem to be having is that the image quality = very poor viewing on screen and very bad printing; though when I used the attachments for the images = crystal clear viewing and printing.

Adding Pictures To Forms And Reports (Access 2000 Vs 2003)

Apr 8, 2006

I have successfully used the recommended way to display images from a folder in a form as posted on the microsoft website.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/210100/

These instructions were for Access 2000. I noticed that there are seperate instructions for doing this using Access 2003.:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/285820/

My questions are:
1. If multiple users access this database using different versions of Access (2000 and 2003) will it not work for some?
2. do i have to modify code if i update to 2003?

Thanks for youir feedback!

General :: Datatype And Viewing Images In Reports

Jul 20, 2015

I am building a database in Access 2007 that needs currently includes images and excel files as embedded OLEs. I am aware this is not ideal, but I can't change my employer's mind.

I've been looking in to the Attachment data type but am having trouble deciding if it will work as a substitute for my purposes. I know a variety of image file types can be displayed inside Access on forms and reports, but I can't find anything about displaying the contents of an excel sheet. I read something about using Active X controls to display .pdf images - is there anything similar for Excel?

Using Images In Reports And Forms - Access 2013

Having trouble using .JPG images in Access 2013 reports? I inserted some images (of arrows) onto a label report. Since then, I've had problems with my DB becoming corrupted or "unstable". I can give more detail if wanted, but my main question is do y'all recommend using images in reports and forms. If so, what format?

Reports :: Pass Parameter To Report On Load

Apr 16, 2014

I have a report that pulls data from a crosstab query. The report works perfectly and prompts for a "StartDate" when it is run.I need a form with a date field that can be selected. Then a command button which when pressed opens the report with the selected date passed as the parameter.the code I have so far is in the on click event of the button:

DoCmd.OpenReport "rpt_12MonthlyInvoices", acViewPreview, , "StartDate=" & Me.txtStartDate

I was hoping that this would pass the txt.startDate field on the form to the report's "StartDate" when it is opened, but it is still prompting for the parameter when the report loads.Should I be using openArgs rather than the where clause? Or do I need to configure something in the "on load" event of the report also?

Reports :: Conditional Formatting Display On Load?

Mar 7, 2014

I'm using Access 2010. I set up conditional formatting in some areas of my report. They're very simple like if a cell is between 0 and .4, then the background color of the field is red. They work just fine...when I click on the field. I don't remember ever running into this issue in the past. I've been reading potential solutions on the web, but haven't found a way to make the conditional formatting rules kick in when the report is loaded.

Reports :: Varying Images And Logos In Report Header

Aug 2, 2015

I create several reports for several different companies. Report data is the same but the report header data changes based on the company selected. All works well until I attempted to add their individual logos. I have tried many of the suggested methods both here and elsewhere to set the image path in Image.picture and image.control source. But I get "windows can't open file". Access 2010 on Windows10 insists on using the insert picture window when i select an image control. There is a drop down in the property sheet. I've gotten it to work a couple times but then its gone after restart.

The header data comes from a table [Company] which has the fields - name, addr, phone, path to image, and active(yes/no)

Reports :: Conditionally Show Images On Report Header

Oct 30, 2013

I'm producing PDF reports in a VBA routine in Access through the DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport.

The routine works great, however i have now a new requirement and i need to change the report header so to if Country X is selected in a drop-down menu, then only image X is shown on the report header; if country Y is selected then only image Y is shown on report header.

I was simply thinking to make this through the "visible" option of the image, however it doesn't work because i get error "report must be open".

Reports :: DLookup With Auto Date - On Load Sequence

Dec 17, 2014

Ok, so I have this table (tblPayPeriod) with the fields Start Date, Stop Date, Pay Period & Percent FY. The Percent FY field is a Number field that gives off the percent of the fiscal year (FY) that we are in.

Then I have a report (rptDistrictMgr) that in the header I want it to display what percent of the fiscal year we are in based on the Auto_Date that is in the header.

So, if the Auto_Date is December 17, 2014, we are (according to tblPayPeriod) 24.1% into the fiscal year and I want the 24.1% to display in the text box which called Text99.

I would just like a simple dlookup that I can use as the control source of the text box or an expression to put into the On Load sequence.

Reports :: Print Only Report Matching Current Record In Form Among Multiple Reports

Oct 2, 2013

I have been an MS Excel man all along my career and I am a novice in MS Access.I have created a table, [Initial Customer Approval] which records data from a Form, [Initial Customer Approval]. Once the data is entered in the Form, I need to do some calculations based on the data entered in some of the fields in the form.I created 6 different queries for the six possible values in those fields. now for each of those queries I created respective reports.I placed a Print command button in the Form.

1. When I press the Print button it should open the report for the current record in the Form. (Currently It Opens all the reports simulatneously, with only one relevant report containing the current record; other opened reports being blank.)

2. If user presses the Print button before pressing Save button then system should prompt user.

Here is the code (Please note [reference number] is the unique ID generated for each record entered in the tabe through form):

Private bSaveClicked As Boolean
Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If Not bSaveClicked Then
MsgBox "You are trying to navigate away from the active record. Please either save your changes, or press ESC to cancel your changes.", vbOKOnly + vbInformation
Cancel = True

Reports :: Custom Reports Creating Chart Based On Month Not Calendar Year

Jun 15, 2015

I am editing a database that provides the option of creating custom reports, where the user can input a date range of their choice and receive aggregate data for that time frame. Although all of the numbers in the report are correct, I am having trouble with a chart that I inserted into the report.

Specifically, if the date range requested spans 2 calendar years (i.e. April 2014 through January 2015), the data for January 2015 appears at the beginning of the year (so the chart x-axis is for Jan through Dec, and the Jan 2015 data is showing up in Jan (as if it was 2014, not the end of the given range in 2015). When I try with smaller time frames within a calendar year, it adjusts just fine (i.e. shrinking the window so just March-May is displayed on the graph).

How to adjust the axis so that it properly records the data range- so that it would start the axis with April and end in January, for example?

Reports :: Summing Calculated Fields On Reports And Tables To Include Cents?

Feb 18, 2014

In my tables i have used calculated fields. one of the fields is to "total expenses." In a report, i need to show the sum of all the "total expenses", the filed populates in the report but the cents are missing. for example if the amount is 6080.40 it shows as 6080. how can i get around this? I have tried changing the decimal point value to 2 at which point the value turns to 6080.00 when it should be 6080.40 (i am a beginner at this i am assuming the answer will probably involve c++ or visual basic's, two concepts i am not familiar with.)
