I have created a report to display a bill of materials (boms). The report works as I have designed. I have also figured out how to filter the report using the docmd.openreport vbasic call with filters. This works fine. I use a form to select the filtering I need in the form of 2 Listboxes populated from tables. The form opens, the report generates and displays in preview mode. What I cannot do is the change the title text (Text Label on the report Header). I would like to use the selected items in the listboxes as sources of text for these controls on the report so I can use the report over and over for different boms. ANy help would be greatly appreciated! Vbasic I hope!
I have built queries based on tables. The field names are the technical field names of an application. For example pernr is actually Personnel Number etc.
My queries are set up as follows:
Field = pernr Table = etc
I would like to rename pernr to Personnel Number so that the column heading in the datasheet view is Personnel Number.
I know I can do this manually for each query by using the following as the field: Personnel Number: pernr
Is there any way of getting this be done dynamically using a lookup table etc. I have lots of queries and I don't want to manually change them all. Furthermore, if I wanted to rename Personnel Number to Personnel No. then I could do it in the mapping table rather than in all the queries.
I have a system that has a growing number of forms. On each form they are a variable number of labels/text boxes/command buttons etc. The captions for all of these are in english.
The database is to be deployed to a non english speaking country so I want to be able to dynamically change all the captions on the forms (not n the data) to the local language.I know how to do this. For each control on load I decide the local language and change the caption accordingly ie (and code is for illustration only and not necessarily syntactically correct)
if locallanguage = 1 me.control1.caption = "save in english" me.control2.caption = "heading1 in english" else me.control1.caption = "save in local language" me.control2.caption = "heading1 in local language" end if
What I want to know is there and easy way to do this. Rather than wade through each control on each form and find out what the name is can I generate anything that will give me all the control names and captions for each form (and report)?
When the user clicks on say; the customer ID dropdown menu, i want the label text on the right of it to get darker (make it more visible). How can i do this?
I have a report that prints labels (similar to avery labels) which pulls data from a query. These labels are all unique and vary in length. Due to the length variance, I want the font size to get smaller for labels with more characters. I want the text to go down to another line when necessary.
In my report under the OnPage Event Procedure I wrote this:
Private Sub Report_Page() If Len(Text2) > 20 Then Text2.FontSize = 8 If Len(Text2) > 10 And Len(Text2) < 21 Then Text2.FontSize = 10 If Len(Text2) < 11 Then Text2.FontSize = 14 End Sub
This works to some degree but the problem is that once there is a longer label, all of the proceeding labels are resized & the longer label that should have been resized was not.
Is there another place I should be writing this code? I looked under events for the textbox but there doesn't seem to be anything that would work since none of them would trigger when printing labels
Hi. Is there a way to set the record source of a textbox control from an access report to something else then a field from a table or query ? I didn't found one. I wanna to display in a report some processed and parsed data from a memo field (the processing and parsing is done in a function from a module). In the report, I wan't to display this data, BUT can't, because the only dinamically value that can be changed to a textbox is record source (I cannot change it's value when the reports opens), and the data processed isn't stored anywhere in a table ... so ... I'm stuck. I've also tried to display the data in report in a label (not in a textbox) and dynamically resize the label, but at some point, I riched the maximum label height :((
I am creating a database and need to produce a report that will form an itemised quotation. There can be up to 8 items on the quotation along with their associated costs to the customer. I am trying to make the "item" field dynamically expand if necessary when longer text is entered into it and then expand the corresponding "Totals" fields to match the new size.I have tried using the "Can Grow" property however for some reason the formatting does not cascade down to the fields below and the "Totals" fields remain the same size.
To try and explain better I have included a screen shot of the relevant part of the report and how it looks when printed. I should point out that the "QuotesQuote" box at the top of the screen is set to "Can Grow" and when that expands the boxes below automatically move to accommodate this.
I have a command button that opens a report. The report has many subforms in it. I am sending open args which existingstewardship. I want one of the labels of the labels to be visible if the me.openargs = "existingstewardship". the code is not working. I have tried to debug when I do this I have found the open args are null and I am wondering if the open args are null is this because they were sent to the main report from the command button and the subforms in the main report do not get passed the open args.
Does anyone have any idea ? how I could make the box visible or not visible in subreport from the command button. The other option I have would be two different reports. Thanks PWF
1Create a report called rptCustomersByGender. The report should:
a.Print your company's name at the top of the first page only b.Print your data labels at the top of each page c.Group your data by gender d.Display all the customer information in the detail section e.The customers should display in ascending numerical order by Last Name f.Below the list of Female customers, it should say: "Total number of Female Customers:" and then the total number of female customers should display. Do the same for the male customers g.The page number should display at the bottom of every page h.The list of Female and Male customers should each print starting on a separate page. i.Make sure the report runs without producing any errors and looks professional.
I created a report and grouped it by gender but I can't do step F. creating two different labels for each group..
I want a user to click the report, and an input box appears asking for a product number. This product number is used in a recordset (VBA code in the report) to fill the text boxes in the Detail section.
Code:Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)Dim rst As DAO.RecordsetDim db As DAO.DatabaseDim itemCode As StringSet db = CurrentDb()itemCode = InputBox("Enter the Item Number", "Complete Catlog Prices")Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM [Catalog Prices Complete] WHERE Prefixprodno = '" & itemCode & "'", dbOpenDynaset)Do Until rst.EOF Me!txtCat = rst("Volume") 'error 02448 cannot assign to this 'Me!txtPrice = rst("Price") rst.MoveNextLooprst.CloseEnd Sub
I'm sure my text box is called txtCat though. Is it an array I should try to fill? If so, any suggestions :S
I have a report with many columns in the detail listing data, and their associated titles above in the page header. What I would like to accomplish is the ability for the user to check boxes off on a form which will remove/add specific columns to the report. The form will essentially be a "build your report" style, with a button on it opening the print preview of the custom report.
Im assuming this is accomplished by the "on load" part of the form through VBA. How is the sizing handled? If the user un-check's a box to remove a column of data, how is the header and detail data "moved over" or re-arranged to accomplish a relatively decent looking layout? Any example or example code to deal with one column/setup (which I can copy and modified)??
I've created labels in my database and when I print them on a label printer, I get a blank label in between my printed labels. I've checked the printer settings and properties and can't find anything. I've also checked the database properties and can't find anything. Is there something in the database that I'm missing?
I currently have a set of labels that works flawlessly - it has 2 columns and 20 rows. I have a form that I can select which label to start printing on so I use up a full sheet with no waste. [working labels attachment]
The labels I'm trying to print on now are 1.25" x 10", as seen HERE. Since I cannot rotate the whole report 90 degrees, I set up the labels to have one column with six rows instead of 6 columns with one row (landscape instead of portrait).
I copied the entire label printing process from the known working report. For my new set of labels, the label prints great if I have just one record, and/or I start at label #1. If I want to start at label #6, it just prints slightly lower on the page instead of at label #6 position (which is the bottom of the page). [label at #6 position attachment].
I am having a problem setting the margins to print labels in access. I go to page setup and change the margin size click ok and nothing happens to the label and when I go back to page setup the margins have returned to their original values. I have already selected the label printer and labels that im using. So im baffled as to why it wont accept margin values that don't cause the label to be printed over 3 labels.
I have a small receiving inspection database that prints lables for each item received. However when they use the program on a different computer the lables do not print on the lable printer at that location.
I must use XP/Access 2003 to solve this problem for reasons I won't get into.
I have a report with a Group by on City.
The users need to be able to sort by Coordinator within that OR by Client Name based on a selection they make on the form that opens the report.
-- I have tried to set .OrderBy
-- I have tried to set .RecordSource to different queries with order by hardcoded in them (I only have 2 sort options fortunately)
Is there a way to dynamically change the "Sorting and Grouping" defined in the report? This seems to be the only sorting that the report is responding to.
I am trying to add a feature in my database dashboard that shows a list of hyperlinks that are the most frequently used forms and reports based upon the user. I can figure out how to capture the event each time the form or report is opened and update a record to increase the count, and build a recordset that will query the table filtering by user and order by frequency...
However, I am stuck on building the hyperlinks that will point to the correct form or reports dynamically.
Specifically, I am not able to update the subaddress using VBA. I get an error that the hyperlink cannot follow to the new form...
Here is my code:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() Dim strUser As String Dim strApp As String strUser = Environ("username") strApp = "frmTest1" Me.txtUser = strUser Me.txtLink3 = strApp Me.txtLink1 = strApp Me.hypTest.Hyperlink.SubAddress = strApp End Sub
I am making labels to stick on containers that we're shipping out. Some shipments will have only 1 container and some will have more than 1.Can I have it repeat a label if there are more than 1 container for an order?
For example: Shipment 1 has 3 containers. The label says "3 x DM" and it will make one label.
Can I set it somehow to print that label three times? What about adding incremental text, e.g. 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3?
I have a report that should print on labels ready to be stick on a book, but how can I tell the report to start from 3th row 2nd column so I do not waste any labels?
I have developed a database using Access 2010. This is split into a Front End and a Back End.
In the same folder as the Back End I store a number of user modifiable files in either bitmap (.bmp) or MS Word (.doc to retain compatibility with older versions).
Unfortunately, the drive letter where the back end resides will change from location to location and I can't do anything about that.
I have set up a function that returns the location of the folder where the docs reside irrespective of the back end drive location, and this works perfectly with OLE linked pictures but not with OLE linked Word documents. User changes show correctly in Word document changes at locations with the original drive assignment but other locations show only the original doc contents even though they have been changed on the local back end location. - even if I delete the Source Item info on the report!!
An example of the code I am using for the Source Item is <GetBackEndPath() & "Footer.doc"> without the angled brackets of course, where GetBackEndPath() is a global variable storing the location of the documents folder ending with a back slash.
I have tried the above in the reports Source Doc property but Access won't accept this and says it isn't valid for this property.
I have a non standard size report (for printing labels)
The report is just over 10cm wide and just over 15cm deep.
I have solved the blank pages caused by exceeding the width but I'm still getting a blank page when I move some data down. I am still within 15 cm but it's throwing me a blank page. Even if I extend the in design mode depth to say 20cm (ie the height in Detail) it's throwing a blank page (I can see this in print preview).
I initially set up the report (it's a long time ago so memory fades) using the label wizard setting up a label 4*6 inches (10.16 * 15.24 cms) and it is this i'm trying to tweak. Is there a property I'm missing somewhere?
