Reports :: Build Report That Only Displays Specific Data?
May 17, 2013
I have an excel spread sheet that is linked into access 2003 via a table. This spread sheet is updated by personnel in another location and I have to run a weekly report on engines stored in that table that are below a certain performance level. The column heading is MGT Margin and I have to list all of the engines that are below 20 degrees. Can I run a query that looks at this table and produces a report of all the engines that are only below 20 degrees? I currently have to cut and paste each engine from the updated spread sheet every week onto a separate spread sheet and import that into access to run the report. Can a query be used to run the required report? I have attached a screen shot of the query that I am putting together to try and run this report.
how to build a weekly report to count the number of computers that have entered a defined process. I have four processes and I need the report to show counts for each process even if it's zero. The report is supposed to show the history of each process and not just the current week. Is this possible to do in a single query? Or do I have to make multiple queries?
I have a table that holds the history of each workstation including the workstationName, date of the record, the phase of the workstation, and the status of the phase. Another table holds the phase codes and phase statuses for lookup purposes.
Does anyone know how you might build sliding bar displays as an input device for scores into an Access database? I am building an application that could really use something like this.
Here is an example. First go to the 'Chelsea tab', slide the bars, submit the results, and see the results on the "Results" tab
I have a report that displays 3 different columns of numbers.. and when I try to do a total for any one of the columns the sum option is greyed out and I cannot total any of the columns at the bottom of the report. Everything I have read says I should be able to do that.
I want a Text Box Query on my form to display the Status, Workshop, Time, Enrolled and Limit. The problem is these values come from two different tables and the Enrolled value comes from a single field that contains the different workshops.
What I mean is: In Table[Attendees] a row contains a customer's Number, First Name, Last Name, Workshop and Phone Number. The workshops vary for each customer so one row on the table could have John Doe attending Cover Letter Writing and the next row could have John Smith attending Resume Writing. What I want is to be able to count the different workshops within the Field[Workshop] and total them and then display the total in a Text Box Query. I have a Text Box Query set up displaying Status, Workshop, Time and Limit as these values all come from Table[Workshops].
So basically I need to Query to also display a result that is the Total for each workshop from Table[Attendees] and display the total for each workshop in a Query with data from Table[Workshops].
Here is a link to an Example Database [URL] ....
I'm trying to avoid putting things on different reports and the like because the people using this are basically computer illiterate and if they have to click a button (no matter how well labeled) they won't do it and the information might as well not exist.
And if there's a better way to do it, I'm all ears. The only thing is, I have to update these workshops month by month. Since they are dynamic, I want to avoid creating separate tables for each workshop.
Each Product can be in the table mulitiple times depending on how many Build ID's it has. So if Product 123456 has Build ID's G004, E818, N005, F813, D024, C879 it will show up one time each for each Build ID. What I want to query is unique Products that are for Build ID's D024 & C879 only and not for G004, E818, N005, & F813.
How can I accomplish this with a query. I am sure I am making this harder than it is but I sure need help.
I have report which record source is a Union Query, The query contain Order Details and a single row for "Freight Charges", I just want to set Freight Charges show in Report at last row.
I work in psychological testing and I have created a database to store some data for our patients' test scores. I have a main form with demographics and then 5 buttons on the main form that open into 5 other forms (one form for each test). I also have created a button on the main form to run a Report; however, I would like to filter the report to only show the current record (e.g., Patient ID #1 only).
(Can this be done?) How should I go about filtering the report to show only the open record? Expression is preferred - I'm not very good with code.
I'm also assuming that since each form is linked by the primary key of Patient ID, I should be able to see all data from each form (main + 5 others) in the report for that specified Patient ID... (?)
I am trying to print a report for a specific Client. There are several routing records with dates. What I want to do is print the report for a specific Client that is in the primary table and a Date within the routing table. Each routing record has a Date field.
One client can have many routing records. Example: John Smith in client Routing record in the Routing table. I want to report on one Routing record with a specific date.
I have one table with some info about my clients, I have a form, where I must choose this clients from combobox and then after clicking button Print must open report with info about specific (chosen from combobox) client and some another texts that doesn't change. Final result must be printed report as invoice.
I can't create report with only specific record information.
I was thinking today if it is possible to fill Access reports based on a specific Word template? I don't want to populate a Word file with Access data as users of my app might not all have Word. Or is there another solution using a WYSIWYG editor where users can format everything according to their needs? That would be fantastic.
In Access 2003 I have a form, at the footer of which I want to put some summary information. One of which is a count of the number of purchases over £500. I have tried many variations after searching the posts on this site but the only one which does not return me an error of some kind with the expression is
=IIf([Bought For]>"500",Count([Bought For]),0)
where 'Bought For is the reports listing of the purchase prices in a given date range when opening the report, but the value returned in my test is '0' when it should be '2' as the test file has two purchases of over £500.
I am using Access 2007. I recently converted my table field from text to memo. When I run a query and report linked to the qry the memo text is displayed as Chinese character or square box (if field is empty). In some forum posts this is shown as a font bug e.g. with Calibri. I changed from Calibri to Arial as this was reported to correct the bug. It did not work.
My field is set to Grow and Shrink, and table font is Rich Text also as mentioned in other posts. Still not working out.
I have a report that displays the results of a query. The query and the report are both run from a submit button on a form. I use DoCmd.OpenQuery "name", followed by DoCmd.OpenReport "name". Due to slow network connection the query shows up before the form is displayed. I would like the query to be hidden or minimised. In other words, I do not want the user to see the results of the query, only the report.
I have a table that is linked into access 2003. This table is updated by personnel in another location and I have to run a weekly report on engines that are below a certain performance level.

I currently have to cut and paste each engine from the updated spread sheet every week onto a separate spread sheet and import that into access. If a query can be used to do what I am after I can use similar principles in other reports I have to run.
We have an older system that generates txt reports. I take these txt reports, then using Excel, I append the report headers to each record... creating a datatable. I then import this table to Access. I have not been able to figure out how to have Access perform this. In Excel, I use an "if" statement.
I have a form that contains 4 sub-forms. In two of the Sub-Forms "Users" and "Computers" the form displays the PK on the second row when there is NO Data? (See attached).
Does anybody know how I can stop this from displaying?
So I have a text box in a report that I want to pull in data from a field in another report, so the 'control' for my text box looks something like this...
=[Reports]![rptSalesReceiptSub]![Text141] (i.e Text141 is the data I want to pull into my report)
...the path is completely correct but when I run my report I get.#Name? If I run the report that has the data I want, it's fine (in other words Text141 has valid data in it)
I have created a combo box on a form using the combo box wizard. The combo box is linked to a table, and the combo box user's selection is supposed to be entered into a table so I can use it in reports, etc. The form works great. However, when I go to the table field that is supposed to have the newly entered combo-box selection, it contains only the record number, not the field contents chosen (by-the-way ... the record number and the record ID are the same ... maybe it is showing the ID??) Either way, why won't the table show the correct user choice from the form?
I have data from a survey with qualitative responses. For a single qualitative question, I moved the ID & responses into a new table and categorized the response according to a bucket/theme, where each column is a new bucket. I now have 10 columns. Each response is represented in 1 or more columns. I used an excel formula to copy the response data into the column itself.
Example:
A1 // B1// C1 // D1// E1//... L1 ID // Response // Cats // Dogs // Elephants //.... Column 10 1 // I like cats // I like cats //(null)//(null)// ... (null)// 2 // I like cats and dogs // I like cats and dogs // I like cats and dogs //(null)//..// 3 // etc.
However, now I'm realizing that Access always wants to show data for all records, or at most I can limit using a WHERE clause in my query.I want to use Access to generate this report:
1. Section 1: Show all responses from the Cats bucket where there is data 2. Section 2: Show all responses from the Dogs bucket where there is data 3. and so on
I know how to do summary values, and I know how to do filtering that apply across the whole report, but this seems like more advanced filtering, where I want to see selective details differently for each field.
Haya all, I’m new to access and I’m trying to create a database for my boss, but am a bit stuck, it’s a Bundy clock system in access, I have the tables set up (I think), and what I’m stuck on is building a form where, when I put in the employs ID and press enter there name appears underneath, can anyone point me in the right direction of a tute that would show me how to do this?
Thanks so much
The way I have the table set up is 3 fields, staff ID, first name, last name. All within one table
I think I’m in over my head… but you have to learn somehow
Hey guys, I was wondering... is there a way to have a listbox display values associated with a parent form ID? in other words... say I have a customer with invoices associated with their name, I want to display a form for that customer with a listbox (or maybe even subform) containing the invoice IDs associated with their name. Right now, I've got: SELECT qryClientData.InvoiceID, qryClientData.InvoiceDate FROM qryClientData ORDER BY [InvoiceDate]; to display information in the listbox. How do I modify this to display ONLY Invoices associated with the Clientname on the parent form?
I hope this makes sense. I can clarify if need be, I am just completely stumped. thanks and happy holidays!
My employer is using Windows XP Pro and Office 2003 (a few machines have Office 2010, but not mine). Furthermore, the machines are running the Japanese language OS, which has caused some comparability issues with my English XP/Office 2003 at home.
I have a form containing an unbound textbox, with the name MIS. The form's Current event has the following code:
If IsNull([[ResignationDate]) Then MIS = DateDiff("m", [NichiiGakkanStart], Date) + Int(Format(Date, "mmdd") < Format([NichiiGakkanStart], "mmdd")) ElseIf [ResignationDate] > Date Then MIS = DateDiff("m", [NichiiGakkanStart], Date) + Int(Format(Date, "mmdd") < Format([NichiiGakkanStart], "mmdd"))

The calculates (correctly) the Months in Service of the employee who's information is being viewed.
Now, I am trying to create a report which lists the employees by work locations. The above , and other calculated information, is to be displayed in the report.
I used the wizard to create the report, using data from two different tables (employee & location).
I need to display the calculated information above for every employee at every location.
I posted the following code on a button (report to a first sergeant). I can't pull e-mail addresses from the report (rptLateByUnit).
