I have this command which copies the contents of a field in a report to a field in a form which is acting as a filter and to requery. (from within the report)how to apply the call command from within my report
Call txtfilter_change
When I try: call [forms]![shop touch screen].txtfilter_change I get errors
I'm developing an application where I want to call the keyboard up on the screen when a user enters a field. This is my setup:
Windows 8.1 32 Bit, Access Runtime 2010. Exact lines of code are:
Dim RetVal RetVal = Shell("C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedinkTabTip.exe")
These lines of code work perfectly fine on my development PC which is running Windows 7 64 bit, Access/Office 32 bit.
I know the path to the exe is good. I can navigate and double click it and it works great. but the shell command is resulting in the invalid procedure.
I'm having to recode some old MS Access DBs so they will run in the following environments:
Office 2000 on WinXP Office 2003 on WinXP Office 2010 on WinXP Office 2000 on Win7 Office 2003 on Win7 Office 2010 on Win7
When I wrote my code for Office 2000 on WinXP things were simple because directory paths were the same across all computers and I could hard code pathing when using a shell command to launch other files.
My new approach is to make a function call to the Windows registry to determine the default executable and path for opening a file based upon its extension (see apicFindExecutable in basWindows API module).
I'm able to use code to create a shell call and debug print it to the immediate window. If I put my cursor in the immediate window at the end of the shell call and hit [enter] the external file will open as desired. If I try to open the external file directly through code, I get a file not found error.
To recreate the error take the following steps:
(1) browse to files that are accessible from your computer (2) click the PREPARE DATA AND OPEN MAIL MERGE DOCUMENTS command button
Shell function call is made by the fnOpenFile function located in the basOpenFile module. There has to be a trick here that I'm missing.
The database is to track and evaluate call center associate phone calls. I created yes/no fields for multiple common errors (accurate/complete, Security, and client experience. and under each are @ 20 common errors)
(the problem is that I did not create a seperate table for each main category which I think might have made things easier)
Now what I am trying to do is create a report that allows me to show (or select) an error and have it show all the associates that had that error in a given time frame.
I already have a report to show all associates and all the errors that each had in a certain time frame. (so vertically I have associate detail and horizontal I have error detail).
is there a way, without creating 25 separate reports, to show all associates under an error type?
What to do, I have a form that will reset online user of my system the field is yes or no type boolean and i using combo box that will show only online people but my problem is how to reset the yes to no when i choose from the combo box a username I want to logout. I use command button also.
I have a routine than has been working perfectly up to now. My save routine was called by clicking a Command Button called cmdAdd.
I tried to change this Command Button to a toggle button by deleting it then creating the toggle button, naming it cmdAdd and clicking on the event property to link it to the existing procedure. PS It is an UnboundForm
BTW, I've done this for several other commands without a problem but with this particular case I get the following error
Run Time Error 2115.
The macro or function set to the Before Update or Validation Rule is preventing Access from saving etc."
It seems likely that I need to do something to the toggle properties.
It allows the docmd.save but still says "You must save the current field before you run the Requery action"
The system is looking to save/update and something is stopping it. Funny though that this doesn't occur with Command Button
I have tried decompiling, compact and repair, commenting out every line that involved updating a field or variable (Except for a recordset operation that does correctly do the updates required)
BTW the Toggle button has no Before or After Update events - Only the On_Click
I have a dashboard-style form that has a list box with tasks connected to a query with line items of those tasks.
I have another query that will only show the line item selected from the list box. This means the query will only have one line item.
I want to have a command button below the list box that, when clicked, will modify the solo item in the second query to change a yes/no field from no to yes.
How can I accomplish this? Also, how can I make a button that deletes the selected line item?
I have a tabbed form in a navigation form with a chart on it. The records source of the chart is a query. The query runs when you click the tab and takes a long time. I changed the Row Source of chart to "" and that eliminates the query running on form load. I've read many posts on changing that row source when a command button is clicked. I tried
in the onclick event of the command button. This doesn't work. I've tried many variations of the syntax. I don't know if I have to tell the query to run after the row source is changed.
On a side note, the query criteria is based on beginning and end dates entered into text boxes on the form. This all works if the query loads when the form is opened.
Is it possible to put a command button on a report? I can't do any kind of programming so only use the command button wizards. I'd like to have a button to click on in order to print or close the report, rather than use the menu bar. Is this possible, easily? Thanks very much.
I have a form with several command buttons to run reports. When I open the form I used the docmd.maximize and when I use the button to run the report it runs but when I close the report it returns to the form which is now sized not maximized. I want to have the form as it was before I opened the report.
I have a typical Access 2007 database with a main form that has combo boxes that are populated by other tables. To edit or add to the combo boxes I have separate forms. When I make the changes I want the combo boxes to be refreshed. I would imagine I can do it with a FormName.Refresh command. However, I am curious if there is a command to refresh all forms and reports in case I have more than one form open with combo boxes that link to the changed data.
What I want to be able to do is have a button next to every client entry which the user can click. Once the button is clicked, I want the "person name" box in the report to be formatted to have a yellow background. The purpose of doing this is so after a couple of days when we come back to the report, we can easily see by the yellow background which people we have to follow up with.
I don't think conditional formatting will work because I have so many different "person names" in the report that it would go above the 3 rule limit, only solution in VBA.The button I created is called "Format", and this is the VBA code I have tried:
Private Sub Format_Click () Me.Person_Name.BackColor = vbYellow End Sub
Like the title says I need a command button to print preview and email two reports. I tried using macros but the problem I have is that it'll send out two emails instead of one email with two attachments. The other problem is that it won't recognize current pages information so it'll show two blank reports. But If I go to next record and come back in form view, it reognizes the changes and the reports look fine. Any help would be appreciated.
I am trying to add a barcode to a report of mine that I can then scan in order to escape/close that report. The reason for this is my work station will not have a keyboard. The user will simply scan a work order number, this will bring up a report on screen with work order detail. Then to get back to main screen to scan next work order I need to be able to escape/close the current report without using a keyboard.
I'm trying to use a command button in a form to filter and open a report. I am able to get it to open the report, but I cannot get it to filter the report based on a combobox in the form. I've tried every combination of code I could think of and find. Here is what I currently have:
Code: Private Sub FilterReport_Click() DoCmd.OpenReport "Report", acViewReport, "First Name='" & Me.FName & "'" End Sub
Code: Option Compare Database Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer) Me.RecordSource = Me.FName End Sub
"FilterReport" = Form Button "Report" = Report "First Name" = Report Field "FName" = Form Combo Box
I have a report that can be used for 3 different queries. I've been trying for the last hour or so to get three different buttons on a form to open this report but give it an appropriate record source. I figured there's got to be a way that's easier than three queries, and three reports...? I was trying to use the same format as with forms : [Reports]![rptReportName].recordsource = "qryQueryName"
or variations of that. Am I way off? It keeps saying that I've misspelled the name or it doesn't exist.
Is it possible to conditionally change a font name? Report field is set for Wingdings 2 so I can print a check mark if underlying value is true. Wanting to change back to calibri to print "X" if not true. Haven't been able change it in an if statement. A macro setvalue fieldname.fontname to "calibri" throws type mismatch error. Setproperty choices don't include fontname.
How can I automate different printers for different reports on the same MS Access 2007 database, without having to select the printer each time?
There are two reports that are printed on the same database. Previously, I had automated form buttons to print the reports, without having to select the printer each time. This was about 8 years ago, but I don't remember how I did this. Also, I don't know SQL. Nothing against code, but I did not know how to program, and just MS Access 2007 access itself.
