Reports :: How To Have Subreports Automatically Resize And Push Down
Mar 13, 2014
I have created a report that includes 4 subreports. The subreports are displaying survey results from 4 different survey channels. New survey data is added to the tables monthly so the subreports will grow in size. Is there a way to have the subreports automatically resize and push down the subreport below? Currently what is happening is a subreport will grow and the additional data disappears underneath the next subreport. Is there a better way to create a report that displays information from multiple reports that will change in size?
I have a report with several subreports that occassionally grow. I also have several fields that don't grow. If my subreport grows, it moves any other fields down as well. These are fields that are below the subreport, but not beneath it (e.g. on a lower line, but to the left).
Is there any way to keep the other fields stationary?
I'am working with tables of loan associates, customers, companies and States versus numbers and amounts in my report and I want to create a main report with a subreport within it which shows the number of customers and their respective state that a loan associate has either written a new loan or serviced that customer and a total for each loan associate? Is there a report template out there that could address this for a complete report?
I can't seem to size any of my charts to 100% of their object's size. I've attached screen shots of a chart in Design View, the chart properties, Chart Design View, and Print Preview. I've tried all of the Size Mode options.
I have a production report with 4 one to many sub reports (material reworked, reclassified, rejected, and issued). Each of those sub reports has a sum field totaling up the material reworked, rejected, etc for that lot.
I need a calculated field that subtracts the totals in each sub report from the reported amount produced in the main report.
Should I do this with a calculated field on the report. If so how would I reference the summed fields in the sub reports?
Or should I put a summed field of the amount reworked, rejected, etc in the query the report is based on and make a calculated field off that.?
I am trying to create a two-page report. I used a document entitled "Sophisticated Reports: Multiple Columns and Subreports" by Rich Gorvin to get where I am now. I created two (2) separate tabular subreports representing each page then placed them into a master report using a common group header as suggested in the paper. While the two (2) separate subreports print out in the desired tabular format, they do not do so in the master report document. The first page prints out just fine but the second page prints out each line of the table separately.
I am attaching a word document of the form I'm trying to re-create in Access.
I am creating a database and need to produce a report that will form an itemised quotation. There can be up to 8 items on the quotation along with their associated costs to the customer. I am trying to make the "item" field dynamically expand if necessary when longer text is entered into it and then expand the corresponding "Totals" fields to match the new size.I have tried using the "Can Grow" property however for some reason the formatting does not cascade down to the fields below and the "Totals" fields remain the same size.
To try and explain better I have included a screen shot of the relevant part of the report and how it looks when printed. I should point out that the "QuotesQuote" box at the top of the screen is set to "Can Grow" and when that expands the boxes below automatically move to accommodate this.
So I created a master report (in design time) and added subreports using VBA and now I get the components in the correct sequence, but how do I get the data to show up correctly because at run time the same query runs for each subreport component and I end up with the above sequence.
Defining the subreport query at design time won't work because then the subreport for a particular component will show the same data.
I need each subreport to recognize which data to show at run time - but I am not sure how to accomplish this.
I'm trying to stay away from duplicating subreports in the case where the same components are selected.
In my database, I have a report called "rptEventsbyEmployee" and in that a subreport called "sbrptEventsbyEmployee". The master/child link is the employee name. Everything is fine until you get to page 3 where the subreport shows twice.
I have a database (Access 2007) that handles a large number of consultants. Each consultant has a number of skills, has worked in a number of countries, and speak several languages. As contracts come in, I wish to generate a report based on the skill set, language and country/countries that best suits the contract; thereby identifying a group of most suitable consultants. I have designed a report with three sub reports for skills, languages and countries. Each sub report is linked to the main report through Link Master/Child fields using the ConsultantID. That's all fine; I get a report showing all consultants listing all their qualities.
Now, I want to be able to filter the sub reports on the three aspects: Skills; Countries; and Languages.
In the past, for other applications, and with the unfiltered form in preview I have used a popup form with unbound Combo Boxes to generate a string to use in the reports filter. I think I got that technique from Allen Browne, and it has really served me well.
Now, however, I can't use this technique since I can't set the filter for the sub reports. I thought that I might be able to use the Link Master Field with text boxes on the main report, but haven't managed to figure that out.
I've narrowed my problem to a subreport that prints multiple copies of the report based on the number of items generated in the subreport.
i.e. If I have an instructor registered to teach three classes in the subreport, the main report will print three time (identical). An instructor with two classes will print twice (identical).
No button...just good old "print" how? why? where?
I have a report, in which i have a unbound text box i want to control the size of the text box as actual characters means,
if the word is in box is elephant so in report it show complete word then next and if the word is small like cat then it resize then the other word next to cat comes automatically at normal space by auto resizing of text box ..
I am relatively new to Access. I am having difficulty summing up totals and bringing them into the main report. To be more specific I have two sup reports called WOExpenseTotalSubreport and WOServiceTotalsubreport. These two subreports are based off of queries that gather the description, price and qty of either services or expenses and then produces a "total" for me on the query.
When I bring these two queries into a report as sub reports I am able to Sum the "total" field in the subreport footer which works fine. What I would like to do is add those two totals together for a grand total on the main report. The two summed fields are called ExpensesSum and ServicesSum. It seems most things I have tried do not produce an expression error but the result is either #error or #name? Here are a few different scenarios I have tried both on the main report details section as well as the footer section.
I have three reports that I have used as the subreports for one master report. The master report shows the three subreports on a page.
When one or more of the subreports contains no data the master report still shows the empty subreport. I would like subreports with no data to be left off the master report if this is possible.
For each of the individual subreports I have used the On No Data event to display a message and then not open the report if there is no data. This works fine for the individual subreports but when I open the master report the "empty" subreport is still displayed.
Is there a way to leave the subreport off the master report when there is no data in the subreport?
I have a report with an embedded subreport. It's set up in two columns, ordered across then down.
My problem is when column 1, row 1 section is taller than column 2, row 1 section. It creates a lot of extra white space as I fill in the rest of the report. Is there a way to eliminate that space or am I stuck?
Hey Everyone. I'm a Novice so don't know if what I'm asking is either easy or hard to do. I have a DB for our record label. One table is Incoming Materials, the other is Assigned Materials.
I need a button that when pressed takes all the data from one table and put into the other. Both tables contain the same fields although Assigned Materials has alot more obviously.
Anyone done anything like this before or have any clue how I can do this. Keep in mind that I'm an annoying Novice. Thanks for any help. I promise I won't be a Novice for long
Have I pushed Access to the limit? Everything runs great, although I do have some hecups, once in awhile but nothing major.
I'm at 100 megs. I have 40 users with read/write. I have maybe 300 users with read only.
The IT people told me that Access is not design to do this kind of work. I mention that it been running for over 7 years, with very few problems. Those problems I created myself.
I guess I need some feed back from what you think.
I have 3 text files, I receive daily, that I need to import into my database. Until we upsized to SQL, we were manipulating the data in Access, and everything was fine.
These three files do not come with a primary key, and we have to insert one row of information into one of the tables. Once we get the flat files, we use our import specifications to set the field types, etc.
Our process works like this: 1. Get the files and import them by spec. 2. Compare one of the import tables (importTable_new) to the current table and write the differences to a third table. 3. Delete out the data from the old tables and copy the new information into them.
This process cannot change due to the way our system is setup. Our data gets filtered prior to us receiving the file, so we have to make sure we always use the most current data from the extracts. We have saved previous data in other tables, so I am not worried about that part.
My problem is this: I am using a DSN-less connection (ODBC) to the SQL server and if I try to run a query that updates the SQL-tables, using a local table, it errors out. There are a myriad of errors that came out of this, I have tried to hunt down what I could and solved a fair amount. However, I continually get:
MS Jet OLEDB 4.0 cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is used to run in apartment mode.
I have done the steps on the SQL server to remedy this error to no avail (turning on ad hoc reporting, etc).
I have tried OpenRowSet, but that did not work out all due to the continual error from the server.
I tried to use an SSIS and it drops the import specifications on import to SQL from Access.
All I want to do is take three local tables and paste the results in the matching 3 SQL tables in the backend, without deleting the tables (or if I have to delete the tables, to be able to re-create them with the right field types and settings). The tables are identical in field type, name, size, etc.
Using the code below I am able to open an explorer window from access and select most of a file path. The part I am not able to get is "LN" which is a field in my forms. I need to be able to pull the current LN number into my Modules file path. How do I do this? Is it easier to go by ID or the actual field I am looking for?
Code: Function Loan_Folder_Search3() Dim rs As Recordset Dim LN As String Dim Client_Name As String Dim RetVal As String Dim LFPath As String
[Code] ....
Currently, it keeps pulling the first record, no matter what record I'm on.
I am trying to generate standard Avery 2160 address labels. Fonts are small enough to allow for up to 4 print lines none of which quite touch. Players have entered their own names and addresses via a website form, so I we never quite know what is in the fields. If the player has a foreign address, it will all be entered in the address field, whereas US addresses have 1 or 2 lines in the address field, and city, state and zip in their respective fields. Line 1 is set as name, no shrink or grow. Line 2 is set as address, shrink and grow set to yes, and line 3 (text4) is set for city & state & zip, concatenated and trimmed in the query, shrink and grow no. The detail OnPrint event is the following:
Code: Private Sub Detail_Print(Cancel As Integer, PrintCount As Integer) Me.Text4.Visible = False If Len(Text4 & vbNullString) > 1 Then Me.Text4.Visible = True End If End Sub
The problem: Any row containing at least one label with 4 print lines pushes the next entire row of three labels down one line, throwing off the spacing of the labels. If I set line 3's can shrink to yes, then the label following the four-line label never has its text4.visible turned to yes, and the other problem (pushing next row down one line) persists. These labels were originally set up via the labels wizard (Access 2010).
How can I keep it from overflowing from one label to push down the next line? This just shouldn't be this hard!
Is there a way via code in a module to automatically create a snapshot of a report, save it in a specifed folder location in the code and save it as the current date as the file name when a button is clicked.
I'm looking on how to do this as I have many reports to create, move to an intranet folder and then name it to the current date. It will save me lots of time if this can be done automatically.
I am using MS Access 2000 and the folder location will be on my hard drive.
Relatively speaking, I've got a pretty simple database. The presenters at our community radio station fill out a form of what song they play and this (along with the system time) is stored in a table.
I have a wildcard query to bring up all entries from a certain date and at present, I export a report of this by hand on a Saturday for everyday of the previous week - but I want to automate this?!
I can change the query to be a standard one to just bring up entries for today. I then, somehow, need to automatically export a report of this query as a PDF at midnight every night into a certain folder with the file name being today's date.
I have a report that prints lab tests. One section has 4 columns that are framed. Only the first control (STest) expands to more than one line. The Can Grow works on this control and subsequently the section expands. I need a code that expands the height of the other three controls to match that of STest. I am using office 2010.
I have a multi-field search form with a tickbox that is tied to 2 queries that is tied to 2 reports. The form works great and I get all the results I want, but my report doesn't display on my monitor, it simply prints up! How can I get it to stop doing this and show only on my screen?
My code on the "run search" button is:
If Me.[OptionalCheckBox]=True Then DoCmd.OpenReport "rptReport1" acViewNormal, acWindowNormal Else DoCmd.OpenReport "rptReport2" acViewNormal, acWindowNormal
I have put together some Access 2010 Databases and I am about to embark on another soon. I have been given a request that I can't seem to solve yet so I am goint to ask it here as a good starting point. The goal is to build a database for a magazine. They want to be able to run a report to generate slips for subscribers whose subscriptions have expired. I would like to, if possible, generate reports and send them to the respective clients via email, all with the push of 1 button. I don't want to have to find each subscriber and do one off reports.
