Reports :: Unable To Print Landscape Oriented Report A4 Size
Mar 11, 2013
I have a landscape oriented report which is A4 size. When I select Landscape in print preview the result is cut off on the right. In the form's design mode I get a little green triangle on the top-left which tells me that the form is wider than the page size. Is this because I am using a default printer with a portrait setting?
I want to avoid having to change the default printer for each different form orientation. I am printing to a pdf printer (pdfCreator which doesn't appear to have a landscape output setting) while testing my design so as not to waste ink & paper.
I am using Windows XP SP3 with Access 2007.

I have always noticed that when creating a report, when you make a paragraph using a label, the alignment and size of the text/paragraph is always different when you preview the report than when you design it.
This makes alignment of paragraphs tricky, especially when you are trying to insert a bold faced word into the middle of a block of text by using a separate label.
I am using Access 2000

I have an existing report generated in Access 2007 that is currently in Portrait mode and I want to reformat the data so that it fits into Landscape mode.
The report consists of a main report and 2 subrports.
I have managed to do the majority of the reformatting to both the main and subreports except that I can't figure out how to change the layout of the actual data that is displayed.
What I'm talking about is the "slider" control (if this is what you call it) that is displayed on on the main report.
I have attached a few screen shots ....

Is it possible to have part of a report set to portrait, but another part set to landscape? Like you can in Word by adding section breaks and setting the page layout separately for each section?
I have a "MainReport" comprised of 5 sub reports which are all portrait. Now I've been asked to add a 6th section and it will need to be landscape. I tried and tried to get it all on a portrait page but it's just too cramped.
I could keep them as two reports and have the command button simply run the second one at the same time. The thing is, that button "prints" the main report to a PDF file and emails it. And I don't want the new report to be in a separate PDF.
If you can't have separate sections, then is there any way to print separate Access reports into a single PDF? I'm using CutePDF but would be open to trying a different PDF printer if appropriate.

I have an unbound form with an associated report. When the user hits the 'print' button on the form/screen, the report is launched in the background. In the On Load event of the report I populate the report fields from the forms field as so:
Code:
Me.txtAddrMainLine2 = "NAME " & UCase([Forms]![frm_OrderRx].[txtPatientName])
This works like a charm as long as I call the report in Print Preview mode (i.e. with acViewPreview). But if I send the report directly to the printer, none of the fields print.
I've read about using other report events to populate the fields (e.g., On Format and On Print) and also something about using TempVars to pass the data. But I haven't read anything that's clear and definitive about the full answer.

Why I cannot print a report using a single record in a form using Access 2007.
I have added the button, I am using the following code:
Private Sub cmdPrintRecord_Click()
Dim strReportName As String
Dim strCriteria As String
strReportName = "Receipt"
strCriteria = "[ID]='" & Me![ID] & "'"
DoCmd.OpenReport strReportName, acViewPreview, , strCriteria
End Sub
However when I click the button nothing happens. I have attached the database ...
I am using the Contacts Entry form, and when I am on a record that someone has paid I want to be able to print from the Receipt report that has a simple formed up letter.

I have been an MS Excel man all along my career and I am a novice in MS Access.I have created a table, [Initial Customer Approval] which records data from a Form, [Initial Customer Approval]. Once the data is entered in the Form, I need to do some calculations based on the data entered in some of the fields in the form.I created 6 different queries for the six possible values in those fields. now for each of those queries I created respective reports.I placed a Print command button in the Form.
1. When I press the Print button it should open the report for the current record in the Form. (Currently It Opens all the reports simulatneously, with only one relevant report containing the current record; other opened reports being blank.)
2. If user presses the Print button before pressing Save button then system should prompt user.
Here is the code (Please note [reference number] is the unique ID generated for each record entered in the tabe through form):
Private bSaveClicked As Boolean
Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If Not bSaveClicked Then
MsgBox "You are trying to navigate away from the active record. Please either save your changes, or press ESC to cancel your changes.", vbOKOnly + vbInformation
Cancel = True
[code]...

I created a database to set-up contracts, record receipt and issue of drawings and generate procurement schedules for construction projects. The database has been in use for over a year and I have only now encountered an unforeseen problem, the fix for which is beyond my skillset. I am unable to generate the reports as I have done for the other projects in the database.
The problem is in the Drawing Registers section. When the drawings are issued, I have to log the date they were received, the drawing number, drawing title, revision letter/number and note any changes on the current drawing. The drawing number is the Primary Key and is linked to several other tables, forms, reports, etc. The problem I have now encountered is that Architects arent that creative when numbering their drawings and tend to use the same numbering sequence for each job. So I can have several jobs with the drawing number A01. I have managed to still keep this field unique by adding a prefix (either a job number or an abbreviation for the job name). This way I am not changing the actual drawing number. However, on this current job the Architect is using the numbering sequence A1, A2, A3A25. Because he is using A1 and not A01, the drawing register reports are not sorting the drawings in the correct order and drawings A10 is listed after drawing A1 and A20 after drawing A2.
I found a round-about way of getting the drawings sorted by adding a second field. The primary key would be my version of the drawing number where I can enter it in a manner that the drawings will sort; the new field would be the actual drawing number as seen on the drawings. The reports would be sorted by my field but this field will not be visible on the reports.Is there another way to sort these records?

I am creating a large report and I have reached the limit of the report page height at 55cm. Is there a way to change this value to 100cm or more.
It seems rather silly to put a limit on the size of a report.

I want to save my report as excel file on the user computer with a click of a button. I have tried this code:
Private Sub Cmd_ReporttoExcel_Click()
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "Gastrolog Report", acFormatXLS, "C:UsersXXDocuments" & Format(Date, "yyyymmdd") & ".xls"
End Sub
But it is giving error 2282 - The format in which you are attempting to output the current object is not available.
The other part of this question is :
This is something similar when I didn't have "PDF add in " in access 2007, when I added PDF add in then option to save file in PDF was available in "output to" action of macro. There is nothing like excel add in. However when I can export the data in excel sheet by Export function in access why don't I have option to save file as excel in "output to " action in macro? I want to have this option so that user can click a button in the form rather than in the top ribbon try to find out how to transfer and save the excel sheet.

I'm trying to produce a report which uses a static deisgn and does not change. For example,I require in the detail of the report a table say 3 * 8 ....and in the report I need the data to fill each one of these cells. However I may not have 8 records , therefore I need the remaing columns/cells empty - the design of 3 * 8 must not change... at the moment I have a dynamic design so if i have 3 records I have 3 *3 table leaving a massive gap on the report.

I have now a report that span around 2 pages. It has subreports in the report that depening how many rows there are they can grow or shrink.I have the problem that the second page the top margin is to close to the top of the pager. The paper has a logo on the right top side. I can make the first page look nice under the logo, but the second page prints to close to the edge that prints over the logo. I did add a page break, but when the page 1 has more data, it flushes this to the next page. The page 2 is now page 3. How can I avoid that, or make it so that the margin of the second page/next page is on the correct lenght of the top. I tried it with the page setup, but it does not work.

I have a form which gets information from the user and upon pressing a button I produce address labels for the user. The form calls a report which does the job. This works. Now the user would like to have parameters like fonttype, fontsize and fontcolour together with margins, row and column space so that the output can be better tailored to his needs. I have inserted combo boxes on the form to get these parameters from the user, but how am I going to insert these parameters in the report layout through programming. What should be the approach?

We are creating a report and for some reason we can no longer extend the detail section of the report. It has stopped at 2 A4 pages length and won't let us extend it further. We have about 7 pages of the report, I didn't think this was too much?

I am trying to print from a form to a report. The problem I am running into is I am getting a long report and I have discovered I have basically the same number of pages in my report as I have entries in my subform. If I have one entry in my subform I get a 1 page report. If I have 2 entries in my subform, I get 2 pages in my report and they look exactly the same. What am I doing wrong?

I have a form with a list box, which lists all those registered for a student orientation. I then have a button to an unbound report which prints a registration worksheet. This report looks up the student's name, test scores, suggested courses based on those scores, and various other information from multiple tables, assigns them to variables, then to controls on the report. This is done in the On Open event of the report.
But it was designed to work for record highlighted. Which was fine until now. Now I'd like to take it one step further and have it go through the list from beginning to end, printing the report for each record in the list.
Maybe I am missing something simple, but I can't seem to pull it off. The closest I can get is getting it to print the first record n times.

I have built a new DB in Access 2010 to manage computer inventory for multiple 'agencies'. I built a report that pulls table info based on which agency is selected. I created a popup form that has a lookup combo box for all agencies, once the agency is selected, hit a button and the report opens up in print preview mode from a macro embedded into the form (I'm not very familiar with VBA anymore, but I am willing to learn), only problem is it opens up behind three other forms within the database (my switchboards for various forms and reports).
I have popup set to yes for all forms (so I can hide the ribbon), modal is set to no. The only way I can get the report to have focus on top is to set the popup to yes, but then I don't have the print preview buttons to print the darn thing.

One client can have many routing records.
