I want to save my report as excel file on the user computer with a click of a button. I have tried this code:
Private Sub Cmd_ReporttoExcel_Click()
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "Gastrolog Report", acFormatXLS, "C:UsersXXDocuments" & Format(Date, "yyyymmdd") & ".xls"
End Sub
But it is giving error 2282 - The format in which you are attempting to output the current object is not available.
The other part of this question is :
This is something similar when I didn't have "PDF add in " in access 2007, when I added PDF add in then option to save file in PDF was available in "output to" action of macro. There is nothing like excel add in. However when I can export the data in excel sheet by Export function in access why don't I have option to save file as excel in "output to " action in macro? I want to have this option so that user can click a button in the form rather than in the top ribbon try to find out how to transfer and save the excel sheet.
My reports are saved as a PDF at the moment I click the print report button, select cutePDF Writer then manually add the Quote number stored in Field from the Table or form into the file name, then select the location to store the PDF file
Can I make this process automated when I click the print report button to auto select PDF Print, then auto populate the file name with the quote/Inv Number and then save to nominated directory.
I have an excel file that I need to prepare to create a report. It would be great if I could do this with Access 2003. This would mean that I need to import the excel file and create a table to handle this.Is there by any chance that I don't need to create a table and I can process the excel file? Or maybe automate the import of the excel file into table and only use a few of the columns so later I can create the report in access. Also what I need to do is add some columns with text in it (a standard text) that needs to add a day taken form the column to the right.
I simply would like to avoid to create a table from the import as this would make me end with a lot of tables (or mabye option to delete the table after finishing producing the report.
My report (rptBilling_STS_Summary) has three subreports (rptBilling_STS_Summary_Install, rptBilling_STS_Summary_Rental, rptBilling_STS_Summary_LDRate) that return values that are grouped by customer and calculates a total for each customer.
I need the report to export to excel for our client but every attempt has produced a blank XLS file. I have tried every export method I can think of. This is what I have tried:
Export button from external data ribbon Export from print preview Export via macro Export via VBA (DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "rptBilling_STS_Summary", acFormatXLS, , False, , , acExportQualityPrint)
All this has produced the same blank excel file... Very frustrating...
I have searched and found a lot of information on 2007 and it requiring sp2 but all I can find on 2010 is instructional information.
Update: I copied the database to my local PC and when I export the XLS file it opens in protected view.
I need code for save dialog file ,and select the file from textbox and save it to the selected location.i have only this code and i dont know what else i can do with this because it just opens the save file dialog !
I created a database to set-up contracts, record receipt and issue of drawings and generate procurement schedules for construction projects. The database has been in use for over a year and I have only now encountered an unforeseen problem, the fix for which is beyond my skillset. I am unable to generate the reports as I have done for the other projects in the database.
The problem is in the Drawing Registers section. When the drawings are issued, I have to log the date they were received, the drawing number, drawing title, revision letter/number and note any changes on the current drawing. The drawing number is the Primary Key and is linked to several other tables, forms, reports, etc. The problem I have now encountered is that Architects arent that creative when numbering their drawings and tend to use the same numbering sequence for each job. So I can have several jobs with the drawing number A01. I have managed to still keep this field unique by adding a prefix (either a job number or an abbreviation for the job name). This way I am not changing the actual drawing number. However, on this current job the Architect is using the numbering sequence A1, A2, A3A25. Because he is using A1 and not A01, the drawing register reports are not sorting the drawings in the correct order and drawings A10 is listed after drawing A1 and A20 after drawing A2.
I found a round-about way of getting the drawings sorted by adding a second field. The primary key would be my version of the drawing number where I can enter it in a manner that the drawings will sort; the new field would be the actual drawing number as seen on the drawings. The reports would be sorted by my field but this field will not be visible on the reports. Is there another way to sort these records?
I'm trying to produce a report which uses a static deisgn and does not change. For example,I require in the detail of the report a table say 3 * 8 ....and in the report I need the data to fill each one of these cells. However I may not have 8 records , therefore I need the remaing columns/cells empty - the design of 3 * 8 must not change... at the moment I have a dynamic design so if i have 3 records I have 3 *3 table leaving a massive gap on the report.
I have a landscape oriented report which is A4 size. When I select Landscape in print preview the result is cut off on the right. In the form's design mode I get a little green triangle on the top-left which tells me that the form is wider than the page size. Is this because I am using a default printer with a portrait setting?
I want to avoid having to change the default printer for each different form orientation. I am printing to a pdf printer (pdfCreator which doesn't appear to have a landscape output setting) while testing my design so as not to waste ink & paper.
Is it possible to save a report as a pdf but give it a specific name on the click of a button? example if user presses a button the report will be saved as a pdf but the name of the pdf will be made up of two of the text boxes on the report. txtbx1 = "hello" txtbx2 = "123" name of pdf will be hello123...
I have a database with which I use to generate reports as pdfs to load to a website.
However when I go to save the file as a pdf it is always as the report name.I am trying to automate this by using a macro as I need to run a report 50 times for ships with a different parameter each time (name of the ship) Another report needs to be run about 30 times, this time the parameter being a date And finally two other reports, but I can live with those being the name of the reports.
Firstly can this be done?
Secondly which would be the best way?
I've tried using the macro route by I run my Report "Main_Ship" with a where clause of [ship]="wiltshire". This produces the report with the relevant ship, but I am then unsure what to use next to save it as a pdf with the name "wiltshire" using the macro route.
or
Create a VBA routine that runs the report as many times as required each with a different parameter for the name of ship or date.?
I want to create a Macro saves the report in a specific location, and uses two fields within the report to generate the name of the file. For example, "[Sales Rep Name] + [PayPeriod].pdf" and it should be saved in a predetermined folder.
Trying to make this code work, don't know how to filter as it prints identical all reports.
Private Sub cmdExportPDF_Click() Dim db As DAO.Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim MyPath As String MyPath = "C:Reports" If Len(Dir(MyPath, vbDirectory)) < 1 Then MkDir (MyPath)
I have a form where user can chose his own criteria for the report, like time period, ppl involved and other parameters. i open report filtered with these conditions. I also create a nice text (as public variable) bout what where the search criteria and put it in the header/footer. Then I export the report as xls file. it's nicely saved as column names and data, just what i need.how to add a field that would store the criteria, ie that string public variable that has it all neatly explained?
This error occurs at the OutputTo line. This code is part of an user form with a button “save as PDF”. When this code is run, the report is visible as an example (as meant to be) on the screen. The code stops at the OutputTo line.
When I use DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, acFormatPDF, StrDocumentName,, False the problem still exists.
I tried to save the report manually by Preview > Export > PDF. The preview is OK, saving as PDF results in the same error 2501. This may lead to the conclusion that this problem is not caused by the VBA code.
I verified whether user write rights are OK, and whether a default printer is available. Both are OK. The report consists of 1 page. When this very same application is used with Access 2010, everything functions as expected.
The Word attachment describes recent problems I have encountered, most significantly, the inability to save changes on certain forms. the questions, listed at the end of the document, are:
a) How can I identify which objects are corrupt other than assuming it is only those that wont save changes?
b) What is the best way to overcome the inability to make form changes on certain forms and reports?
c) How or can I continue to use the Students Extended query with different criteria for different forms, other queries or reports. Can I create (advanced) filter queries and use as a record source for each as needed?
d) Do the messages about the PC making changes or placing the database in states have any bearing and why is that happening?
e) What causes and how can I prevent messages that fields could refer to more than table (see 2, D, vi)?
Hi, I was wondering if there was a way for a report to be automatically saved as an excel file. Also, the Access database is stored on the company's server so would you be able to choose the path where the excel file would be stored?
How much formatting can be done to a report from Access into Excel? I am trying to (or will be in the next day or so) to create a report to export data and I would like it presented in a specific format. This is hopefully to replace a spreadsheet where someone currently has to collate and re-type a load of info that has already been typed into various other spreadsheets.
Access is going to happily cope with all of those users entering their data to a table, and I would like to be able to output that data to something similar to the end result now? Is there a way to have an Excel template file and simply direct Access what to put in which cell?
Hi, I have two possibly related things that have recently begun happening in nearly all of my databases. (Access 2002, Windows XP)
1. For years I have been using shortcut command lines like the following to open my databases: "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10MSACCESS.EXE" /wrkgrp d:databasesPCAMain97sys.mdw m:pcamainpublicaccess2002frontendsvikchamaster setupwheel.mdb /excl
All of my databases use the same mdw file. Up until recently this command line has always prompted me for my login and password. Now, it doesn't. Not only that, but once I'm in the database, if I go to tools-security-workgroup adminstrator, the indication is that I am NOT joined to the PCAMain97sys.mdw workgroup that I requested.INstead I remain joined to whichever workgroup I was in before; it's like hte /wkrgrp command line option now has no effect.
2. From file-database properties, I try to change the title of the database. But I get error "..unable to save the database properties". Web search shows this is probably db corruption, but... on every one of my databases???
OK, upon reading what I just wrote, it seems likely that my mdw file is corrupted....? Any other ideas?
I have a problem where a user (with what I believe are the proper security settings) cannot save a new record in a form. I have set the securities on the form and the related table and query to allow this user to create new records (Add/Run).
This user is able to access the form and enter the data, but it will not save. I have added a "Save" button to no avail.
When I log on as the administrator, it works fine.
in Access i have made a report with data and now my goal is that if i click on a button the data will be exported to a existing Excel file under the other existing data so in row A6. Is this possible true a VBA code?
Iam new to access need some help to solve this, iam unable to save filtered condition as a query in access. when i click on file > save as option i have only three list i can choose from Form,Report and data access page . I want to save the condition as a query which iam unable to do. Any help in this would be appreciated
