Required Field Error Message

Feb 26, 2005

I have form "Project Log" for my table "Orders". One field "OrderTakenBy" ( text field) is a required field in the table.

In the field properities of OrderTakenBy in the Before Update event I have used the following code:

Private Sub OrderTakenBy_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)

Dim strMsg As String, strTitle As String
Dim intStyle As Integer

If IsNull(Me!OrderTakenBy) Or Me!OrderTakenBy = "" Then
strMsg = "You must enter your name."
strTitle = "Field Required"
intStyle = vbOKOnly
MsgBox strMsg, intStyle, strTitle
Cancel = True
End If
End Sub

When I first tested it, after trying to leave the field without making an entry-it worked great. Now it seems to have stopped working, I get no message when I leave the field empty.

Can someone help me through this one? Thanks

Detecting A Field Which Cause An Error Message

Jan 21, 2006

I am learning how to create custom error messages.

I know about the "OnError" event of the form, and knows how to replace the standard error message.

I wish access will produce an error message saying something like "You must put a value in field X" (custom made msgbox)

How can I identify this 'field X' which caused the error message to be displayed?

Hope I made myself clear.

Thanks for your comments.

Tables :: Adding Description To A Field - Property Value Is Too Large Error Message

Oct 18, 2012

I keep getting the "Property Value is too large" when I add a description to a field in an existing table.

The same error was resolved on another table by cutting four fields then saving then pasting them back into the table and saving again.

I tried importing the entire DB into a new file, this I still get the error message "Property Value is too large" ...

Object Required Error

Nov 8, 2005

I was wondering if anyone can help with this code. I am sure it is something simple. It works fine until the last line the (x1down) line. I am not sure what I am missing there. I got that code by recording a macro in excel. It simulates the shift/end/down keystroke which will select all fields that are in the same condition (blank or containing data) as the cell you start at.

The error I get is runtime error '424' - object required

Anyway...hope you can help. Thanks.

Dim opensheet As Object

Set opensheet = GetObject("\Netstore rainingdocsRobDataopen.xls")

With opensheet
.Application.Visible = True
.Parent.Windows(1).Visible = True
.Application.sheets("sheet1").Select
.Application.range("g2").Select
.Application.activecell.NumberFormat = "0"
.Application.activecell = 1
.Application.activecell.Copy
.Application.range("A2").Select

Object Required Error

Apr 29, 2005

Hello,
I am relatively new to Access and I am trying to update someone else's work so here goes. I have to revise a form to incorporate the new fiscal year. I have gotten variables named and feel comfortable that is correct. However, when I click on the "Run Query" button, I am getting the error "Object Required". I know this probably an easy fix but I can't seem to find it. I have attached the code for the form in a Word document. If anyone else needs additional information, please let me know.

Thanks

Error Message - "field Too Small"

Jun 12, 2006

i have a combo box on a main form.

The name is cboFormulaStatus and control source is FormulaStatus.
the control source is a Text field with 20 possible characters.

The Row Source seems simple with:
SELECT [tblFormulaStatus].[FormulaStatus] FROM tblFormulaStatus ORDER BY [tblFormulaStatus].[FormulaStatus];

I only have 3 possible answers in this field. for this purpose, pretend the answers are black, blue and red. my real answers are less than 12 char.

when i am in the form, i pick one answer. i get an error message:

"the field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. try inserting or pasting less data."

what am i doing wrong? Thanks

Run-time Error '424': Object Required.

Sep 7, 2006

I had this error occasionally popup whilst testing my code.

I thought it was strange, because it was in a Microsoft message box, with a Microsoft message, not one of my own messages from my own error routines. This made it very difficult to isolate, I didn't have a clue what was causing it.

However I decided to track it down and to cut a long story short this is what I found:

Err_EditDetail_Click:
MsgBox "Error!"
MsgBox " Error From >>> EditDetail_Click() Error Number: " & Error.Number & " Error Description: " & Err.Description
Resume Exit_EditDetail_Click
End Sub ' EditDetail_Click()

Notice "& Error.Number" I don't know how this got changed from "& Err.Number" to "& Error.Number" but that was what was causing the Run-time error '424': Object required.

Error 80040e10 - No Value Given For One Or More Required Parameters In SQL String

Sep 29, 2015

Reserved Error (-1517); There Is No Message For This Error.

Mar 31, 2006

Does anybody know what this error message refers to?

"Reserved Error (-1517); there is no message for this error."

It just started happening today, and I haven't even made any changes to the database. It occurs when I hit a button I have to run a macro.

the macro does the following:
1) Shows all records
2) Requery
3) ApplyFilter.
The Where Condition for the filter is:
Right([tblContracts].[JobNum],4)=Right([Forms]![FrmContProc].[txtFindJobNum],4)

The weird thing is that it only occurs if the Form window is taller than 1/2 of my viewable area. If the Form window is 1/2 the viewable area or shorter, it works OK. This was running fine earlier today, but about 4:00 pm (03/31/06) this started happening.

If anybody knows what this error means, or how to get rid of it (I really need to use this window in full-screen) then please let me know.

-Thanks, Sean

"Object Required" Message

Jan 10, 2006

I have a form developed with Access 2000.with command buttons I built using the standard command button wizard for navigation, new record, copy record, save record etc. I have a few small VB scripts associated with these buttons- mostly message boxes.
I had to upgrade from Win 2000 Pro to Win XP Pro and Office 2003.
Now whenever any of the buttons are selected, I get a message box stating "Object required"...even if all I want to do is navigate from one record to another. Another person uses this DB too. They have not had any updates and are still running 2000 Pro and Office 2002. I can still add records etc, but this message is annoying and doesn't exactly instill confidence in the application

I ran the ToolsDB UtilitiesCompact & Repair utility with no positive results.
I couldn't find anything in the archives. Does anyone out there want to guess why this just started to happen, what caused it and most of all, how I resolve the problem?

Message Error

Mar 6, 2006

I am trying to Right Join two queries which are basically from the same exact table, but when I do that I get the following error.

ODBC--called failed.

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The column prefix 'MS1' does not match with a table name or alias name used in the query. (#107).

The following is a copy of my SQL

SELECT PqryExpiredPolicy.Policy_Number, PqryExpiredPolicy.Orig_Exp_Date, PqryExpiredPolicy.Insured_Key, PqryNewPolicy.Policy_Number, PqryExpiredPolicy.Name
FROM PqryNewPolicy RIGHT JOIN PqryExpiredPolicy ON PqryNewPolicy.Insured_Key = PqryExpiredPolicy.Insured_Key;

I have looked for this MS1 and cannot find it. Any ideas where I should be looking or what this means?
