Restore Menu When Removed Using ACCESS OPTIONS
Aug 9, 2011
Is there any way to restore menus/editibility when they have been removed using ACCESS OPTIONS > CURRENT DATABASE then uncheck 'allow full menus'? Database was created in Access 2007. I always keep a back up of the pre-menu-disable state of my databases, but this is someone elses for which I can't find a backup.

I have created a custom menu used on my reports which contains all the icons I need and anchored them to the right side of the report. I have been able to remove the min, max and the close icons from the default report menu bar at the top right hand side as well as the "Ask A Question" dropdown. But I am not able to remove the "Restore window" button that comes with the report print preview.
How do I remove the "Restore Window" icon from the report's menu bar?
I'm using Access 2003...

I'd like to disable the options to see the table or query design - and control other thing the user can or can't see.
How can I do that?

Hi.
I lost a bunch of menu option sin my MS Access. In the Tools menu, almost everything is disabled (including Options) and in Add-Ins, all I have is the Add-In manager -and it doesn't seem to work as I readded all the add-ins and there ain't there.
I tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling Access from MS Office 2003 but I still have the same issue...
Is there a way to reset to orginial config?
Thanks,
Ben

Can someone point me in the right direction?
I have added a popup menu to my form to reduce the number of buttons needed. I would some of the options only available in the add or edit mode. Because its not a traditional button i dont think conditional formatting applies. Can someone give me a hint where I should be heading?

How to create custom menus in Forms in MS ACcess 2010. For example, I have a form fmrMainMenu. At the top of the form I want to create a menu labelled "Reports" that when clicked or hovered it displays a list of sub-menu options of all the Reports available in the database. Once the user makes a selection the report is generated. The functionality that I am looking for is similar to the old menu options like File, Edit, etc., in MS Office.

I have created a front end and put into production for my users but I want to reduce the amount of menu bar options they see so someone cant click on a button wondering what it does and mess something up. What is the best way to reduce the amount of options a user sees on the menu bars when they open the front end of the db?

I need to create a frontend for my database that enables average users to edit the tables. So far, I got as far as creating a tabbed form for this function, but now I would like to know if it is possible to "externalize" this form, so that the users wouldn't need to start Access to use it.
If so, how can it be done?

I'm working on a login form and *not thinking* I removed access to the submenu. I had already set the form up so that you either login correctly or exit the program. I'm working in code for the form and I know it's possible to reactivate the menu in code, I just don't know how. And I can't switch to design mode. The form is set up to not allow anything to happen until the correct login has been entered, and I either had a typo when I set up my test login or the program is bugged and only says it's incorrect....

Hi all - I have my DB on a large network with many pc's and I need to set it so it when users open the program, the DB window will automatically "Restore Down" to a height and width I specify. Is there a way to code this in the DB itself? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Ok well I find myself in a bit of a pickle here... I created a database and allowed a friend to check it out. Well after he was finished and I try to open it I get a yellow exlamation point warning.
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the database (It gives the whole path for the object). Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you."
Now since I am the owner and creator how can this be removed? I am a bit miffed at my friend for whatever he did. Please tell me I can access this database again.

Hi
i have a query that shows 190000 records made up from related fields spread over many tables.
now i add in a new field to the query. It is related in the same way the others are, and indeed the information now appears in the query matched up correctly.
But for some reason the query now shows 670 less records?????
why is Access removing some records because of this new field??
can anyone help?
thanks

Hi All
This is my first post so hope I get everything right :-)
Right i have three tables which are laid out as such
ID Number PK
Capacity_Band Number
Product Number
Price Number
previously the ID was a autonumber but this has been removed recently. When I try to change the ID back to Autonumber Access throws up an error. Some of the ID's occasionally get deleted which results in non consectutive numbers, normally I would strip the Id field and start again , but unfortunatly the id's are all interlinked , so this is not an option , unless i reset them all !!!!
My only thought is to set up a complicated series of lookups (probably vlookups in excel to reset the numbers) . Im hoping there is an easier way to reinstate the Autonumber on the ID field ?
Many Thanks for help in advance

Hi,
New to this forum so be gentle! I'm also recently self taught on Access 2003 and developed a fairly substantial database for my company to track projects. My terminology may be off but hopefully youcan follow.
I have a number of queries created by copying existing queries and tweaking them. I was attempting to fine tune one of these by removing tables that had no bearing on the query. I was surprised to find that the number of records returned changed when I did this. I tried this with a number of queries and it seems to be common, on my database at least.
The tables removed had no fields selected for the query and had reltionships to only 1 of the remaining tables so it shouldn't have made any difference? In ever instance, the returned record set was a smaller nukber than before the unused table was removed.
Any ideas.

Hi All,
I was doing a project for school where I had to make a text field that would only accept the options Client Type(RET - Retail, SER - Service, DIN - Dining)
I thought I did it right by having a line with the field name as "Client Type" and the input as "text" with a field size of "3". and the description I put was "Client Type(RET - Retail, SER - Service, DIN - Dining)". But it doesnt work. I saved and everything. It will let me enter anything I want as long as it doesnt exceed 3 chars. I want it to ONLY accept RET, SER, or DIN and I want it to format it so its in CAPS.
Thanks,
-- Steven

My end goal is to display an image for every row on a report and/or form.I reviewed the various options for that, and finally decided the best thing to do would be to put the images in a separate folder in my PC, and put the path for the image in a column in the main(primary) table. In my form or report, I put an Image Frame, and put the ImagePath column in the Control Source. All is well and good.
However, I realize the inherent problem with having the full path in every single row, since I could move the image folder and I'd be hosed. So, I created an Environment Variables table, and I have a column called ImageFolder. Then I changed the name of the column in the primary table to ImageName instead of ImagePath. My hope was to be able to concatenate ImagePath and ImageName as the Control Source on the form and report.
I couldn't figure out a way to do that, since they are in two different tables, with no direct relationship between the tables. For the report, I created a workaround by creating a query of all the fields, including a field which concatenated the path and the ImageName. But since I use the form/ sub form to update the records, that wouldn't work for the form. My next attempt was to try to add an ImagePath back again to the primary record, but to have it default to the value that's in the EnvironmentalVariables table.

Hi everyone and many thanks in advance.
I have configured my Access 2007 DB/app to hide the default ribbons and Options settings so that end-users cannot change the config or perform tasks that would jeopardize the integrity of the data. One of the other requirements on this project is to allow the end-user to launch the Spell Check feature.
It was simple enough to launch Spell Check from a button on a form. The problem lies in that the Spell Check feature has an "Options" button that serves as a point of entry to the Access Options that I'm trying to prevent the user from seeing.
Can anyone tell me how to hide or disable the Options button in Spell Check? I fear that this is not possible and I will have to choose between Spell Check and ensuring data integrity.
Many thanks,
Dominick:confused:

I have reinstalled Access 2010 due to a computer malfunction. I had customized my Dictionary with about 2000 abbreviations for medical specific words: gast for Gastroenterology for instance. Saves tons of typing. I have never been able to save my dictionary just in case something like this happens. And, It's happened before. I may have saved(unsure) once, but it was years ago on Access XP-2003, somewhere in that time frame and was never able to find it if I did. So I am reentering all these words again. It would sure be nice to be able to add them by Anything! but going File/Options/ Proofing/ Auto Correct Options and then entering my shortcuts. that's 4 steps each time. It would seem to me that if you can add the Auto-Correct icon in Word to the Word ribbon, Access should be able to do this. There is no icon i can find in Customize Ribbons/ All Commands. My Word Dictionary does not -never has- synced with Access' Dictionary.

I currently write (very long) reports for work, which have a lot of standard text in them - but the standard text varies according to the client's history.
I want to create a report-writing application for myself, composed of series of yes/no/maybe buttons
and depending on whether I click yes/no/maybe in each section, a different segment of text is inserted into the report.
Ideally the application would be able to insert, or create, formatted text - such as headings, bullet point lists etc - I would need to be able to export this report into Word
I started out by making a table, with each section being a different field, and the various paragraph options as different cells in the field, but I am stuck at present on the basic functionality of "click button , insert text"...

Good afternoon!
I have a database that tracks the withdraws and returns of shared tools.
The withdraw form has a check box on it that is checked to show removed when the item is ordered (this keeps that item from showing up in inventory searches). When the item is returned, that check box is unchecked, showing that the item can be withdrawn again.
When a person withdraws an item their supervisors name is also logged so that we know who to chase down when the item doesn't come back.
I have a query that is supposed to show what items are still outstanding based on a date range (I got the prompt for date range to work..yea me). However, the query shows every time that the item was borrowed.
Example...
I borrow a hammer and my supervisor is Bob. I return the hammer. It does not show as still withdrawn in my query.
The next I borrow the same hammer and again my supervisor is Bob. I return the hammer. It does not show as still withdrawn in my query.
The day after I borrow the same hammer and my supervisor is Joe. I return the hammer. It does not show as still withdrawn in my query.
Some other day I borrow the same hammer and my supervisor is Joe. I do not return the hammer. The two times I borrowed the hammer with my supervisor as Bob show up as well as the other time that I borrwed it with my supervisor as Joe shows up as well as the one that shows I still have it.
. One of the criteria in the query is essentially only show the items that have the check box checked (criteria=true). But that apparently does nothing, or (more than likely), I am doing something wrong.
This is the SQL:
SELECT tblOrder.OrderDate, tblOrder.Supervisor, tblEmployee.EmployeeFirst, tblEmployee.EmployeeLast, tblItemSpecifics.Description, tblItemSpecifics.Serial_Number
FROM (tblEmployee INNER JOIN tblOrder ON tblEmployee.GlobalID = tblOrder.GID) INNER JOIN (tblItemSpecifics INNER JOIN tblOrderInfo ON tblItemSpecifics.Serial_Number = tblOrderInfo.Serial_Number) ON tblOrder.OrderNumber = tblOrderInfo.Order_Number
GROUP BY tblItemSpecifics.Removed, tblOrder.OrderDate, tblOrder.Supervisor, tblEmployee.EmployeeFirst, tblEmployee.EmployeeLast, tblItemSpecifics.Description, tblItemSpecifics.Serial_Number
HAVING (((tblItemSpecifics.Removed)=True));

I have created a member data base form in Access2010.
That has been populated with 366 member records
I have two text box fields that are currently free type fields, Member Type & Member Status.
What is the best way I can change these to show only the relevant options:
i.e. Member Type ( Full, Family, Pensioner, Life. )
Member status ( Current, Lapsed, Deceased)
I have tried to right click the field but the "change to" option is greyed out & not available.
I have also tried to insert a combo box or list box to show these options. The "use control wizard" option has been highlighted but when I drag either a combo box or list box into the form. the wizard does not activate.
