I have a staff database in my office which holds, amongst other things a list of staff holiday taken. Presently the staff have no access to view holidays because they will also be able to view other employees details. What I need to do is enable members of staff to see their own holiday, but no others and Im really not sure how to go about it.
I have a workgroup in place; so each user has their own login/password.
Hi, I would like to know how to do the following scenario in Access 2000.
Imagine I have a table, which has two fields X and Y. User can only enter either field X or Y, but not both. How to check the above case while user is real-time keying in the fields of the table?
I have a database in Access 2010 where I've created a navigation form, and I want a regular user opening the database to enter a password and only have access to that form, and not the actual tables or the navigation pane. They should only be able to view, add, edit, and delete data through the forms I've prepared, and I don't want them to be able to get to the tables themselves unless they have an admin password. I tried looking up how to do something like this, and I tried splitting the database, but it seemed like I was still able to go right to the tables and edit them from the navigation pane even in the front-end, and if I removed the navigation pane links to the tables from the front-end, the forms I made wouldn't be able to display anything from them anymore, and that's not what I want either.
So, I want one password to give access only to my navigation form and nothing else, and then a second password to grant access to everything else.
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
I have a User Main Menu as seen below with the command buttons for New Work Log Entry and Edit Work Log Entry. The New Work Log entry opens a blank Work Log as shown below. The Work Log form's record source is tblWorkLog. The user will fill out all the fields except the End Page and Total Worked Pages. The user will then exit out of the database. When ready to enter the total worked pages the user log back in to the db and will click on the Edit Work Log Entry.
This is supposed to open up the last entry the current user was working on so that he or she can enter the End Page and Total Worked Pages
Currently it is opening up the last entry of the table even if it was a different user's.
How can I change this? I need it where it opens up the last record for that person. There are going to be 50 users so I can't have it open up to the last record of the table.
My query is how to restrict a user when he logs in......say for example, if he is a guest user he will not be able to change the setting neither he will be able to see the design mode..i am using access 2003
I was wondering how difficult it would be to do the following:
1. A user opens up a form. 2. The user uses a combo box to select his/her name. 3. There is a date combo box on the form and by default, it is set to today's date. So when the user selects his/her name, the records for today are displayed. Changing the date will show only the records for the date shown. 4. The user will have the ability to add and delete records specific to the criteria chosen in the text boxes. Adding new records will only add records for the date chosen in the combo box. E.g. if he/she adds a record for today, it will only be seen when today's date is selected.
Will a subform have to be used for something like this? Or could it be done with one form using filters?
Any thoughts and/or approaches on this would be greatly appreciated.
I have two fields on a form. One of the fields has to be entered first in order for the other field to be filled. How can I restrict the user to enter a value in filed #2 before filling the filed #1?
I have built a Travel database and what I'm trying to accomplish is sending the form. For instance, If I fill out the form with the travel information, expenses, destination, etc. at the bottom I specify a manager who needs to approve my request. I have two command buttons one to save the record and the other to submit. What I would like to happen is that when the person filling out the form clicks the submit button an email generates to the manager they've selected with a link of that specific form in the message body. Then when the manager receives the link they go in open the form approve it and then when the manager clicks the submit button I would like it to send the form to our financial personnel.
I need to be able to restrict users enter a value in the text box (on Form B) called "FTE Assigned" if Dsum of a field called "FTE Allocated" in another form A is less than what is going to be sum of FTE Assigned after the value is entered.
Both these forms are used by users to enter data in the 2 separate tables which are linked together through a join.
Master table - having FTE Allocated values and secondary table having FTE Assigned values.
Basically a message box would do if Dsum (of FTE used) is coming out higher than FTE allocated.
I have a database that I want to install on a client's pc as a demo only. I want to restrict the number of records he can enter to 3. Is this possible in access? I will appreciate any help. Thx!
Hello, My "customer" form is based on sigle table. I have to restrict no of customers only 5 customers. can anybody help me ? This is required for distributing a database.
This seem to be simple for single criteria but i am not able to do it multiple. I want to restrict user to customer list they r able to see in form combo box drop down list.
users are in employee TBL employee group criteria is in tbl_Groups which contains value Admin,Read Only, manager etc employee r grouped through tbl_AssignUsersToGroups. customer r grouped in customerType TBL. i.e class1, class2 etc created EmployeesClassTypeRestriction TBL to store restrictions for employees
Restrictions criteria:
1-employee can view only specific class which includes all customers in that class 2- employee can view only specif customers in a class only. 3-employee can view only specif customers in a ANY class. 4- No criteria No restrictions and can view all customers in all classes( For Admin )
Tried to used Tempvar criteria in customer combo box qry but it works for above point 1 only.
And sadly i am saying hello with a problem. I am a relatively new user, and i have a amateur(i think) problem.
Doing a booking system, and working in VBA I want to check if certain records exist by date. My "bookings" table has 'roomname' and 'date' and 'timeslot' as fields.
My query is: strSQL = "SELECT * FROM bookings WHERE (((bookings.room)=" & roomName & ") AND ((bookings.date)=#" & dateStr & "#));"
I need to get all those records, and be able do certain checks on them, but I dont know how to execute that in VBA, so i check the records to see which time slots have been booked.
In pseudocode: If(bookings.date == #xxx# AND bookings.timeslot == xx) then 'some sort of action'
In short how do i filter specific records using my query and how do i access record information directly in VBA? research suggests recordsets, but not sure how to implement that

For Each Item In offexchfldr.Items.Restrict("[SenderName] = '" & frmfm & "'") ' Select Items that match Sender Name on form If Item.TaskSubject = subid Then Item.Categories = frmcat ' Update category from form to outlook Item.Save End If Next
This script checks every item in the outlook inbox where the item.SenderName = my database sendername
This works every time except for when the sendername has quotes or single quotes in their name. So i am trying to utlize the replace method on the item sendername before trying to find the items in the inbox but its not working.
Below is my attempt that does not work.
For Each Item In offexchfldr.Items.Restrict("Replace([SenderName],',"") = '" & frmfm & "'") ' Select Items that match Sender Name on form
How do I restrict access to the database while still being able to add a new hyperlink? I tried deselecting the "display navigation pane" option. But when I do this I am unable to add/edit a hyperlink in a form - when I right-click the only option I get is "add to favorites" rather than "edit", etc.
