Retrieve Blank Form Upon Record Entry
Jul 12, 2013
I have code that is executed with the click of a button to enter a new response using 2 fields to differentiate the records: a combobox "cboSrvID" and a textbox "RspnsName". I have a different set of questions for each value in the cboSrvID. Upon selecting my button the record is saved correctly although I would like it to open the blank form associated on the subform "sfrmSurveyResponses" when pushed. I have tried some DoCmd.FindRecord and DoCmd. GoTo functions to try and retrieve the last acLast RspnsID inputted. So far I have had no luck.
Below is the code for the onClick action of my button.
Code:
Private Sub cmdEnterResults_Click()
DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, acSaveRecord, , acMenuVer70
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.OpenQuery "qappNewResponses"
Me![sfrmResponses].Requery
End Sub

I have searched the forum and asked some of my colleagues about this and I do not seem to be getting anywhere. :(
What I need is to be able to use a (blank, ie showing no current records) form to enter data into a new record.
I have Tables A and B in a 1-to-many relationship and I need to be able to bring up a blank form which has:
1. a combo box, allowing me to select the relevant record from the parent (table A), and ...
2. blank fields (from the child - table B) to fill in with new data.
I can set this up using a standard setup, where all records are shown, but this is confusing to a dumb user, who really only wants to see relevant boxes for them to fill in without the distractions of data in fields they are not concerned with or with other records they do not want to know about.
Can anyone help? :)

I have a form that allows users to search the database for records based on there criteria. The form allows the user to search, through combo boxes, by variables. The first is MAT, the second is Relocation Area. The search works fine when the user selects options form the combo boxes. However sometimes it is neccesary to leave the location field blank and only search by MAT. When the location combo box is left blank no records are found. Is there anyway around this. The SQL code for the query is below:
SELECT [Extract Data].[ID], [Extract Data].AREA, [Extract Data].[MAT], [Extract Data].[Relocation Area 1], [Extract Data].[Relocation Area 2], [Extract Data].[Relocation Area 3], [Extract Data].[Grade Score]
FROM [Extract Data]
WHERE ((([Extract Data].[MAT])>forms![Data Search]!SearchMAT) And (([Extract Data].[Relocation Area 1])=Forms![Data Search]!SearchArea)) Or ((([Extract Data].[MAT])>Forms![Data Search]!SearchMAT) And (([Extract Data].[Relocation Area 2])=Forms![Data Search]!SearchArea)) Or ((([Extract Data].[MAT])>>Forms![Data Search]!SearchMAT) And (([Extract Data].[Relocation Area 3])=Forms![Data Search]!SearchArea));
Any help would be much appreciated

Can I look up and verify data on a "second" form based on a selected record from first (still open) form.
I am trying to allow users to select a User Name from a combo box list and then open "Change Password" form when they select "Change Password" for that selected user name.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to associate and verify the data tied to the user name selected on the previous (Login) form ( I am trying to validate the old password tied to that selected record).
I have the first login form created, and it's working just fine. I also have the change password form created (and it's displaying the user name selected from the first form using:
Code:
Private Sub Form_Load()
With Forms![frmLogin]![cboUserName]
Me.txtPwdChgUserID = .Column(2, .ListIndex)
End With
EndSub
I also have the code written to validate and confirm old password, new password and validate new password (when the save button is clicked). I have yet to update the password with the new password (still trying to figure that out).
Attached zip file has screen shots of the two forms.

I have a form with a drop down of employee names and a tabbed subform.
I have the form and subform set up to open on a new record and, when the employee name is selected to fill the subform with that employee's data.
It is a split db with the be on the network server and everyone has their own copy of the fe. When I open the front end the combo box is blank but the first page on the tabbed subform shows data. If I close it and reopen it, sometimes its blank and other times it still shows data.
What else do I need to do to ensure that it is a blank record?
Also, I am using the MouseHook.dll and included it in my .exe (zip) file to all of my users, instructing it to download to the same location as the .mdb file (C:/Training Database). Will this work or does the MouseHook.dll need to be somewhere else?
Thanks,
Toni

i have a subform as a continuous form, and at the bottom, there is the normal blank record (created automatically), to enter a new record. Is it possible to attach a piece of code to a field but which will be available only to the field of this blank record, rather than being available for the particular field of all the records in this continuous form ?
Basically i want that if the focus is on this blank record, and i will hit the tab key i want to move the focus to a control, on the main form, that's why i want it specifically, when only this blank record at the end has the focus.
Thank you for any suggestions.

I have a form that is used to both Enter & Edit records. There is a "search" button to aid in finding records.
I have been asked to have the form open to a blank record instead of the first record in the table.
Is there a way to do this without setting the "DataEntry" property to true, as this basiclly disables the "search" button.
Thanks

HELP
When the user double clicks on the icon, the form automatically appears on the screen. That's good. But record number 1 is there. I want a blank record there so they can enter their data. This can't be difficult, but I can't figure it out.

I have a statistical program and the user constantly use the form to check calculations and get out without saving a record. In order to allow this with out writing to the table I used unbound fields and an accept and close command buttons.
This worked well until I added a subform to one of the forms. Now, if I just open that form and then click the close button, I get a blank record in the table associated to the main form. Is there a way to stop this?

Hi,
I have a form which is based on a table.
I was wondering if it is possible that when the form is opened a blank record could be displayed rather than the first entry in the table. In other words, it would be like opening a form and clicking the "Add Record" button, a blank record would be displayed and data entry could take place.
Any thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I have created a form that searches through one of my tables, via a query, it then automatically creates a report from that query.
I want to add an option into the combo box's that is blank.
Currently if you wanted to choose by 'fault category' but accidently click on 'failure analysis', it will take the top value of the combo as the entry, you can't then blank 'failure analysis'.
Each combo box gets its information from an independent table.
The only think I figured out what adding the refresh button which just closes then reopens the form so all the fields go blank.

I have a lot of fields that I want to make required entry only if one of the check boxes I have is blank. If the check box is blank then I don't want any entries to be required.
For example, I have a form that needs to be filled out only if a machine is running, if the machine is not running then only certain fields need to be filled out and the user will select the check box labeled "Machine not running".
BTW, I'm very new to Access and have no experience with implementing code, other than with excel.

I have the following module in my database to allow for multiple alarms.
It all works great, except before showing the actual alarm record called, the form first pops up showing the first record in its record source.
I.e. it flashes up showing the first record in the table, then changes to the 'correct' record.
I would just like to change it so it either doesn't show until the record is loaded, or it shows blank to begin with.
Here's the module...
Code:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Public clnPopUpAlarm As New Collection 'Instances of frmPopUpAlarm
[Code].....

I have created a navigation form with quick access to the forms and reports I use most often. The Navigation Form (which I named Control Panel) automatically lands on the Tutor_Information Form on a current record. However, I would like for it to open to a blank form instead while retaining the ability to access the current records. Individually, when opening the Tutor_Information Form from the Navigation Panel, it opens to a blank record.
I used a 2 step macro
1. OpenForm
2. GoToRecord - New.
How can I make it do the same thing when landing on the Navigation Form (Control Panel)? I am using Access 2013.

I have a form with a drop down that links to a table where a user can select or type a record, If they type a record that isn't in the table, the form goes completely blank.
Is there a afterupdate event I can do so that if the record doesn't exist, then a msg prompts and the form isn't completely blank?

I have a main form where the user chooses a BoxID. There is a subform on this main form that has a relationship between BoxID on the main form and subform. The users are entering data in the subform and when they have entered 10 lines of info I have a message that tells them to start a new box (I could not work out how to do it any other way as I lack VB skills). The user closes the form or clicks add new record to create a new box. If I view the previous record there should only be 10 lines of information in the subform but there are 11 as it takes the blank line as a new record....

I have a switchboard which runs a google style search query to find people based on their first name, surname, date of birth or NI number on clicking the search button. It uses the following criteria in the query Like "*" & [Forms]![SearchF]![Firstname] & "*" for each of the above fields.
This works perfectly until someone inputs a record that doesn't have anything in one of the fields. ie, full name and DoB, but no NI number. When a record is entered in this way, the table stores the record but the search query cannot find it.

When entering information into a blank form, I would like to be able to continue entering information to another additional blank form after my last entry. Is there a way to continue to a blank form after entering information into the previous blank form? I would just like to continue without having to close the entire form and then reopening another form.

I want my users to see a blank page, but have one field populated. is this possible?
1) blank data entry page, but with a populated field? When a CU Name is selected,I want the (Enter Note) tab to go to a data entry or last page or new page.I have tried putting it to data entry form, but the CU Number will not populate.

I've got a data entry form bound to one table. The form has four buttons:
- Clear Fields
- Cancel
- Save and exit
- Save and add another (which should save the user input to the subform/table, clear the input fields, and allow the user to add another record)
I can't quite seem to get the "Save and add another" button to work. When I put some information in the input fields and click the button, it saves it to the subform/table perfectly, but when I try to do it again, it just edits the last record (the one just created).
How can I get that button to place the information from the input fields in a new record every time?
The _Click event for the button looks like this:
Code:
If Len(Me.field1 & Me.field2 & Me.field3) > 0 Then
Me.Refresh
btnClear_Click
DoCmd.Save
End If

I want to be able to pre-fill records with information based on a form every day for each client. This needs to display in a datasheet view showing all clients for each location.
Each day the subform needs to show the expected results of that day's activity with clients if all default conditions are met. (i.e. client receives a call that day based on expected conditions calculated in a form for that day).
