Run Time Error Updating Record -- HELP ! Please....

May 11, 2005

I have an orders Form with a subform for products. In the subform the user selects each product by first selecting the product category from a combo box, which filters the query for the second combo where they selects the product. Once this is done, I need the record to up date, but Access gives a run time error 3058: Index or primary cannt contain a null value.

In this case I belive the key field is the product_id form my 'order_detail_table' where this is a shared key.

I've been beating this to death (it's killing me!!) for a couple of weeks now and got nowhere. Maybe someone out there can have a look and see what my obvious mistake is ... (I've attached a cut down version of db with just tables, query and subform)

Thx.

Modules & VBA :: Run-time Error 3021 While Updating Existing Record In DAO Recordset

Jun 16, 2014

I have a linked table to a DB2 database. this table contains key-pair values and has about 140k records.

I use a Sub to update the value of a specific record.

The sub starts by opening the needed DAO recordset
Then it uses the rs.Findfirst method
It checks if rs.Nomatch is not true (so the records exists!)
Then it starts updating the record with
rs.edit
rs!value1 = myvalue1,
rs!value2 = myvalue 2
rs.Update
There is where I get the '3021 No current record' error

I use the same sub on the same table to update to different parts. One part works the other gives me the error.

I have checked for typos.

Updating Record (3251 Error)

Aug 17, 2005

Hi, I've tried everything to get this to work with access. I can get it to work with SQL but unfortunately in this case I can't use SQL. Problem is that when I try and update the record, I get an error saying that the update method is not supported or that the lock is incorrect. It's a 3251 error.

Here's the code I'm using:

Dim dbConn2 As ADODB.Connection
Dim dbRst2 As ADODB.Recordset

Set dbConn2 = New ADODB.Connection
dbConn2.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source= R:myAccessDB.mdb"

Set dbRst2 = New ADODB.Recordset

dbRst2.CursorLocation = adUseClient
dbRst2.CursorType = adOpenDynamic
dbRst2.LockType = adLockOptimistic

Set dbRst2 = dbConn2.Execute("Select ROAD_ID FROM GIS_MSLINK_ROADID WHERE MSLINK" & " = " & UserForm2.slsn_textbox1.Value)

dbRst2.Fields("ROAD_ID").Value = UserForm2.slsn_textbox2.Value

dbRst2.Close
dbConn2.Close

Set dbRst2 = Nothing
Set dbConn2 = Nothing

Cannot Save Record At Time Error

Jan 4, 2012

We have a database stored on a network drive used by a number of people across the organization over a Windows XP Network. I have an strange issue where some users get the error attached when trying to amend a record. However other users are able to amend the very same records. All the relevant user/windows permissions are identical. There is no security/permissions settings on the database for it to behave in this manner. The record seems to lock itself the moment you try to edit it.

Updating More Than One Table At A Time

Sep 1, 2004

My problem: I need to create an invoice ( or reciept) for a movie rental company. I have two tables that need to be updated in order for my select query to find recent activity.
the select query:
SELECT TRANSACTION.TRANS_NUM, CLERK.CLERK_FIRST_NAME, CLERK.CLERK_LAST_NAME, CUSTOMER.[CUSTOMER _FirstName], CUSTOMER.[CUSTOMER_ LastName], VIDEO.MOVIE_TITLE
FROM VIDEO INNER JOIN ((CUSTOMER INNER JOIN (CLERK INNER JOIN [TRANSACTION] ON CLERK.CLERK_ID = TRANSACTION.CLERK_ID) ON CUSTOMER.CUST_ID = TRANSACTION.CUST_ID) INNER JOIN INVOICE ON TRANSACTION.TRANS_NUM = INVOICE.TRANS_NUM) ON VIDEO.MOVIE_ID = INVOICE.MOVIE_ID
WHERE (((TRANSACTION.TRANS_NUM)=[Transaction Number]));

all tables are valid. My problem is: as it stands I have to update the invoice and transaction table individually, then run the query. If I update only one of those two tables (like transaction for instance), the query won't pick up anything, so I know these two tables are the ones I need to update together. I'd like a form to update the information in one place for both tables, then run the query based on 'transaction number', then print a report based on that data. I didn't write this SQL, and I'm not very fluent in it, but I'm thinking I need another join somewhere. That's just a guess though.

Error With Updating Combo Box

Sep 7, 2006

Hi,

I have a form with various fields, some of which are normal data entry fields, others dynamically updating combo boxes.

My first field is a date field which defaults to today's date, the field following this is a growing combo box which requires some narrative to be entered. I have set up this combo box so as when data is entered into the combo box, the combo box will store it, allowing that entry to be used again. I achieve this with the Got Focus property Me.Refresh.

An error occurs when the user wishes to change the date from the default to another date. When I tab to the narrative field, Access informs me that the error occurs with the Me.Refresh property of the narrative field. I want to keep this property to allow me to update the combo box entries but I can't keep allowing this error to occur.

Does anyone know how I could solve this problem/get around it?

Thanks

KV Error's On Updating Serial Numbers

Nov 28, 2005

Hi,
I have a table that uses SerialNo as primary key. From time to time (its a long story...) I need to go in and update the SerialNo by adding x to it. Here's the problem: lets say the table has SerialNo's 1,2,3,4,5, and I try to add 1. I get 4 KV error's because of course, 2,3,4,5 already exist in the table. (So I would end up with 1,2,3,4,6 instead of 2,3,4,5,6.)

I really thought that Access should be smart enough to figure out that there really won't be any key violations after the updates are done, but I guess not.

So, what's the easiest way to deal with this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Queries :: (Enter Parameter Value) Error When Updating SharePoint Table / List

Jun 24, 2015

I have a list (table) that I've created in sharepoint 2010.I link to the sharepoint table with Access 2010 to update mass amounts of items at once. Some of the queries have no problem updating the sharepoint items, but other queries require me to "Enter Paramater Value."

In this particular queries; I'm trying to populate field A with dates from field B, when field A is null.

---------------------
UPDATE Table 1 SET Table.[FieldA] = [FieldB]
WHERE (((Table 1.[FieldA]) Is Null));
--------------------

When I run the above, I receive the "Enter Parameter Value" input box.All records have Field B populated (it's actually the created date.)

The goal is for field A to be populated with the values in Field B, without the query asking for parameters.

Note; I can go in each individual record and update them via access, one at a time. But it's the running of the update query that failing.

Edit: Removed spaces in table and field names.

If ctl.ControlType = acCheckBox Then
If ctl = True Then
intScore = intScore + ctl.Tag
End If

Me.Points = intScore + Nz(Me.extra_points)

which should and does take the tag element of a check box and add or subtract from intScore.

However upon making the form tabular it doesn't work...

Run Time Error '13'

Nov 16, 2006

Dear All:

Code:

Private Sub Combo134_AfterUpdate()
' Find the record that matches the control.
Dim rs As Object

Set rs = Me.Recordset.Clone
rs.FindFirst "[STUDENT_ID] = '" & Me![Combo134] & "'"
Me.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark

If Me!MAJOR_CD = "616" Or "614" Or "176" Or "613" Or "F16" Or "612" Or "611" Or "650" Then
MsgBox "MUST COMPLETE ENGINEERING SURVEY BEFORE RECEIVING DIPLOMA", vbOKOnly, "DIPLOMA PICK-UP"
End If

End Sub

I am using Access 2000 with a search feature to find students by entering an ID_Number. It finds the person in the database and it is supposed to show a pop-up message if the person in the database has either one of MAJOR_CD on their records. It returns this error:Run Time Error '13': Type Mismatch.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Many thanks,

Dion

Mysterious Run-time Error

Jan 10, 2006

I have a simple note section on my form (data type set to memo). This is where my staff enters any notes when they speak to a student. For some reason, on a handful of records (3-5 of 3,000 records) a run-time error occurs when the user attempts to edit or add anything to the notes.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening? :confused:

Run-time Error '2467':

Feb 2, 2006

I have an application which I did in 2003 version and then converted it for 2002 version.

Everything works fine in 2003 but when I open in Access XP 2002 version then I get the following error.

Run-time error '2467':
The expression you entered refers to an object that is closed or doesn't exist.

I debuged the application and found the following cause.

I have two forms 'ManageCustomers' and 'AvailableIDs'. AvailableIDs is as subform of ManageCustomers and set to unbound.

Now in VBA of ManageCustomers I am doing the following:
Form_AvailableIDs.RecordSource = someSource

This statement is producing the above described error. It works fine in Access 2003 but in 2002 this error occures.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Run-time Error 2046

Oct 3, 2006

I've been using this database now for a good few years without many problems but now that I upgraded from 2000 to 2003 It's been playing up on me :confused:

The problem only occurs on my PC & not anyone elses, so I don't think it's a database problem but maybe something on my machine. I have not upgraded any other PC's yet. Only mine as a test.

The database is split & shared on our sever with each user having a copy of the front end on their PC

I even copied a working front end from another PC to mine but it still fails.

I've installed/removed access 2000 & 2003 a couple of times now but nothing seems to help.:confused:

Oh...I have checked the references
the only difference I see is that 2000 has Microsoft Access 9 object library & 2003 has Microsoft Access 11 object library

Run Time Error 7: Out Of Memory

Apr 11, 2007

Im building a new database using Access 2003 SP2 on windows XP SP2 with 1 GB RAM.

When i try to execute the following line of VBA code I get an "out of memory" error:

Form_Confirmation.txtDept = cboDept.Text

Before this line of code I don't query any data or open any DAO connections, Im only checking the entered values in various text boxes and combo boxes on a form. I have also tried rebooting my computer and it still gets stuck at the same line.

What i basically want to do is just move data entered into text boxes on a shipping order form i created and present that data on another form to confirm the entered data. The error occurs when i try to move data from one form to another. The database is still only 1MB with only 5 tables, each with only a few records in them just for testing.

Do i need to install a service pack or download something to fix this error?

Run Time Error 2107

Apr 7, 2008

I get the subject run time error when I try to past a record. The error reads:

"The value you entered doesn't meet the validation rule defined for the field or control."

Then it takes me here in the VBA:

Private Sub cboEmployee_AfterUpdate()
Me.RecordSource = "qryHours"
Me.Refresh
End Sub

More info:
The form I am using is a continuous form. The record source for the form is "qryHours". The combo box "cboEmployee" is a drop down they use to select their name, which updates the form with the hours they have logged into the system.

Because the projects they work on are the same from week to week they would like to copy and past records, making keeping track of their time less time intensive.

Any ideas?

Run-time Error '3035'

Aug 3, 2006

Hi!

Short Introduction.
Table 'People' - the table contains info about people. two of the fields are 'PersonalEmail' and 'ReferrerEmail'. It means, each person has it's referrer. Referrer is one of the existing persons in the table.
Queries.
* I have some queries that calculate statistics for persons - No problem.
* I have queries that find 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation for defined person from table 'People' (it means i chose in form any person and want to see, what his 1st generation - where he is the referrer, 2nd generation - where his 1st generation is referrer and so on...) and combine this data with the person statistics, that calculated in the queries i've described above. - No problem.
* I'm trying to calculate total statistics for generations described above - query. I succeed to do it only for first 2 generations and get the error: Run-time error '3035' and the message is: System Resource Was Exceeded (it's my translation :) ), when i'm trying to run the 3 generation query.

Could you explain me what happened?

Group By Time Error

Jun 21, 2007

I am attempting to set up a query which will perform aggregate functions on records from two fields (Speed, Volume) and group them by a time field (SensorTime). This should essentially result in several months of data being combined into a succint 24-hr time period, divided into 288 five-minute intervals.

The problem is that Access will group some of the time values together, but not others. After some detective work I discovered that many of the times that APPEAR to be equal are actually different values when carried out to the 15th decimal point. I learned that this is a result of rounding error within Excel, from whence I originally imported the data.

My question is: can I apply a ROUND function to times in the original table, thereby solving the problem in all the resulting queries (and if so, how)? Or will I need to round the time values in each individual query (this would take some time)? Or is there a better way to equalize these time values that I'm not aware of? I know Excel has a "Precision as displayed" option but I couldn't find anything similar in Access.

Eagerly awaiting advice!

-Bratlien
