I have the database and the Data page, but how do I add a search button to the data page to search the database by a certain field? Any help would be appreciated. I would be happy to send you the files if you give me a contact.
I haven't used access before and have been set the task to create a data of photos. The table is called 'Find a Photo' and contains 6 catergories of various information including river, site and date. I would like to create a search/command button by which i can type the river, site and date into seperate text boxes and search all of them at the same time.I don't know how to connect a command button to command button and not sure if any macros/queries are needed. Hope all this aint to hard to do.

I understand that there are filter options, but i need to define just one field, for one record.
The nature of this database is to store info on batches we produce, therefor it's important i can search via a batch number.
I’m having problems trying to construct a database for my company. They need the database to enter information about certain insurance policies that our company has. We have a table setup and ready to go. I need to allow multiple users to add records to the database so I want to setup a Data Access Page to accomplish this. However, there’s a problem I’m still stuck on.
In the Data Access Page, I need the ability to search and display a record designated by the primary key field (policy number). I found code to do this, however when I click the button, input a known policy number at the prompt, and click ok, it displays Error: 3265 the item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal. i have created a form that has data in a field as a referance, i want to use that ref to open a page or PDF file to that referance ,
The idea is that the form is the data input for hard copy documents, i will scan the documents and store them on a hard drive i then want to open the documents as word, or PDF files from the form to the ref of the field in that form
I have a form that has a subform on it. The main form shows a category of furniture and has custom navigation buttons and a search text box for asset numbers and command button that runs the search. The subform shows the asset numbers associated with that furniture category, sometimes there is only one asset number, in other cases there could be 60. There is a scroll bar to scroll through the asset numbers when there are too many to see in the initial window.
The buttons all work as they should except when I search for an asset number that is part of a category that has too many asset numbers to show in the main window. When this happens the "previous" and "next" navigation buttons do not take you to the previous or next record. All of the other buttons on the form work though - you can go to the first, or the last record, and you can search for a new asset.This is the code for the search:

I've been able to navigate a lot on my own, but there is one issue I cannot seem to resolve. I have 1 form and 1 table. I have the form set up so that you can enter data, and then press a button, and it will "save" and refresh the form for a new entry. However, I want to be able to pull that entry back up in the form, and fill out additional fields later on.The form is set to data entry = yes because I do want the form to open up as brand new each time.
To sum up my question. I want a text box and search button at the top of my form. When you type an ID number in the text box, and then press search, I want access to populate my form with the information in my data table associated with that ID number.
If I type in the number 1234 and hit search. I want my form to autopopulate with the data in the row for ID number 1234 (all the fields I have already populated). So by searching 1234, the name, phone, background info, etc that is populated in the row will appear.
I have a data access page needs a filter by a dropdownlist, the dropdownlist used is a html control and I use javascript to filter the data programmaticlly in the onchanged event of the control.

My problem is, when this statement runs, the page refreshes. But I don't need the page refreshes, it set the dropdownlist text to the default text, not the value user select. The browser is IE7.
why the code below is not functioning properly. When I type in an acronym in the textbox, it keeps saying there is an error "Run-time error '3345': Unkown or invalid field reference 'ABO'." I do have ABO in the field.

The red highlighted line is where the debugger leads me to. Something with identifying the field? I would like to enable the search procedure to search throughout the entire records rather than just a specific field. How may I write such a line or two?

I have a form with drop down boxes that list 3 related fields and I have a search button that will requery based on the the input from these boxes. These boxes are all prepopulated with the data and I want to be able to select something from Box1 and then based off Box1 change whats populated in Box2 and Box3. Any idea's???
I already have a query setup like this to requery a query I make: ( I have a button that initiates the requery based off what input is given) Box1:
Problem with this is that is does not requery correctly and it only filters on one of the criteria ( Field1) and spits out all records for the other two?
So I figured since I already populate the drop downs with the records why not just change the contents of the drop downs? If anyone can give me some insight it would be much appreciated?
I have a database that uses four forms and each form has it's own table and each form has it's own search button to find a specific record within that table. I would like to use one search button that will look at all four tables and bring up the correct record when the request number is entered. Can I link all the tables to perform this or is code required? Can someone send me in the right direction for how to do this? Give me an example of code if it's required? I am trying to create an application whose purpose is to maintain a database of customer names and addresses. This is contained in a table called tblCustomers.
I have create a from whose purpose is supposed to be to search within the table by zip code and return them to the user via a report. The form is called frmZipLookup and contains a text box called 'zip' and a button called 'GetReport.' 'zip' is where the user inputs the desired zip code, 'getreport' is the button that is supposed to bring up the search results.
Now, at first I created a report called rptCustomers based on the tblCustomers, and I had the button bring up this report, however I was not sure how to limit the report to only the zip code entered on the form.
I created a query called qryZipLookup. I put tblCustomers in this query and dragged down the * field and the zip code field from the table.
I would like to use a sql statement to make this work, but so far none of the statements I have written have produced any results at all.
How can I create a button which will search within the table by the zip code field?
Hi there people, i have created a query that searches through different fields within the database, and on its own works fine, enter some or no data and it will return what you have entered. The problem is i have created a form with text and combi boxes on that i can enter the query parameters into in one place, but i can not get the search button to use this data and filter the query? the query is a subform on the main search form and is refreshed when the search button is pressed but with no filters defined by the text/ combi boxes. can anyone help please?
I have a form within a form and am trying to create a txt box for me to input the information i want from a main form and the search button to display the data in the sub form. I have a combo box which work fine but i don't like it to me its not looking professional.

I havent used access before and need a easy way to seach through 1300 records i have created in a form. Each record has 6 criteria, some with drop down options.
