Hi, I'm trying to run a query through a form, that takes several parameters and then checks to see if any rooms are booked at a certain time and date, that satisfy these parameters.
On the form there is :
Room - combo box
Time - text box
Date - text box
Computers - check box
Data projectos - check box
OHPs - check box
Desks - check box
I have this so far with the query. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to complete this successfully?
I have a search form that uses a query to show results of a search, but everytime I press search everything comes up even though I have entered search parameters, even though my search requeries every time and the search used to work before I added new records today. Also when I press the query alone on the navigation pane it asks me for the parameters and then it actually works but it won't when I use my form.
I have a Search Query based on a Form. It does not retrieve any columns from the table if any column is empty. Why? I thought the & "*" would find all records.
SELECT DISTINCT LITE.OWNER, LITE.LAMP_SUFF, LITE.LAMP_NUMBER, LITE.TOWN_CODE, LITE.ACCT_NO, LITE.STR_NAME, LITE.STR_DESC, LITE.WATTS_LITE, LITE.LUMENS FROM LITE WHERE (((LITE.OWNER) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![owner] & "*") AND ((LITE.LAMP_SUFF) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![lamp_suff] & "*") AND ((LITE.LAMP_NUMBER) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![lampno] & "*") AND ((LITE.TOWN_CODE) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![town] & "*") AND ((LITE.ACCT_NO) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![accountno] & "*") AND ((LITE.STR_NAME) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![strname] & "*") AND ((LITE.STR_DESC) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![location] & "*") AND ((LITE.WATTS_LITE) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![watts] & "*") AND ((LITE.LUMENS) Like [Forms]![frm_search]![lumens] & "*"));
i have a search form with a list box. it is based on a query. it works fine for a different project but in this project i need to search for either a perfect match for an ID, or a 'like' match for description, or a like match for the customer.
I have a form with a listbox on, the listbox uses a query to populate it, which returns a list of client names. The idea is, when I enter the clients name in a text box, the list is narrowed, through use of the query.
This works fine, and always has - very pleased with it, the problem comes when I decide I want to be able to search on the account number as well - which it always throws errors about.
I am using the following query (posting the sql, hope that is OK)
SELECT tblSafeKeep_Clients.SafeKeepClientID, tblSafeKeep_Clients.Title, tblSafeKeep_Clients.Initials, tblSafeKeep_Clients.Surname, Format(tblSafeKeep_Clients.DesignationNumber,"000000") AS Expr1 FROM tblSafeKeep_Clients WHERE (((tblSafeKeep_Clients.Surname) Like "*" & [Forms]![frmSafeKeep_SelectClient]![txtSearchText] & "*")) OR (((tblSafeKeep_Clients.DesignationNumber)=[Forms]![frmSafeKeep_SelectClient]![txtSearchText]));
The problem is because I am only using ONE text box, but the surname is (obviously) text, and the account number is (obviously!) a number. SO - it throws a wobbler about it being too complex to evaluate when I try to search for a surname, trying to search for an account number works just fine.
having trouble using a text box on a form to set the search criteria for a particular field within a query.
Ideally i would like to enter the criteria in a textr box then click a button which sets the criteria and opens the query results in a report,
I have designed the query but cant which works if you go into the design and enter the criteria. the problem lies with getting the text box on teh form to set teh criteria.
If i use the expression builder to set the criteria to the same value of the "text" within the "text box" on said form the following happens,
If i open the query itself it opens a small window and displays the "expression" that i entered in the criteia box, above the data entry. the query does work this way but dont understand why the expression is displayed??? The text box on the form also becomes locked, not allowing data to be entered.
I have tried to link the query direct to the text box. also tried creating a table which has data entered via form then linking the query criteria to a field in the table.
Could some one point me in the right direction please
I have built a search form to feed information to a query. The form uses combo boxes tied to table values, and all have wild cards built into them so if the user leaves the combo box they get all the records. I also have to text boxes representing start date and end date. I would like to allow the user to leave these blank and get all there as well. I have been looking through my one Access book, as well as searched all over the internet, but I cant seem to find the way to do this. My filter criteria for the text based combo boxes are like this:
Code: Like "*" & [Forms]![ReportDesignF]![Company] & "*"
My filter criteria for the Start and End Dates looks like this:
Code: Between [Forms]![ReportDesignF]![StartDate] And [Forms]![ReportDesignF]![EndDate]+#11:59:59 PM#
In this case of the user leaves the date values blank, the query returns nothing. I would like to return all dates if that is the case. I am assuming it is my lack of knowledge of wild cards and how they work with date values.
I have made a database for work and is fully functional, but theres one thing I want to add but cant get my head around how to do it.
I have created a Form called 'Filtered Search', on the form it has multiple combo boxes for 'Auditors' 'Area' 'Status' and 2 text boxes for date range.
I want to be able to set what filters I want, and for the query to ignore any fields with no information selected/inputted (i.e. I want to see all records raised by "Mr Smith" (Auditor) that are still 'Active' (Status) in all areas at any time).
Names of items;
Table = 'Incidents' Form = 'Filtered Search' Report = 'Filtered Report' Auditor = 'Combo7' Status = 'Combo156' Area = 'Combo5' Date Range From = 'Text161' Date Range To = 'Text163'
Hi, I am a complete idiot with VB/SQL/*anything for that matter*
Made an unbound form to search and retrieve records from a query (parameter query) (for property listings)
I've got the following fields in my "Search_Form"
1) Project (combo box pulls data from projects table) 2) Size (from - to) 3) Rate (from - to) 4) Date (from - to) 5) Price (from - to)
I've set variables for each field .... VAR_sizeFROM....... VAR_sizeTO etc.
Now here's my problem.
1) How do use VB to send the user inputs from my "Search_Form" to "Search_Query". And is it possible for either of the search fields to be blank in the form?
2)How can I do the same for a report?
Please help, I've been stuck with this for some time..
I am having some difficulty putting togather a small database (attached).
Basically I want to be able to search for mutiple words and get the results
There are 3 main columns in the main table
1) Shop 2) Part Number 3) Part Type
Problem 1:I have created a lookup table (with check boxes) for ComboBoxes in a form but I do not know how to connect it so that when I click on the comobo box it gives me the all different (Shop numbers/part number/Part types) to select from.
Problem 2:Once I have made my selection I want to search and run query to show me the results. I know that once multiple items are selected in a combo box they are separated by commas/space, so the search must take that in account.
Other nice to have 1) If Shop 1 is selected then only the parts which were sold from shop 1 to appear in the Part number Box & visavera & same goes for Part type.
2) Ability to do a wildcard search so if I Enter "A" in part number I can see all the resealts
I have a form based on a query. I'd like to add a search box to the top to look up values and then populate the rest of the form. I can't do it with the combo box wizard because the relevant (third) option doesn't show up, I assume that's because the form is based on a query not a table.
i need to create a system that can search data using keyword.so i want to create search button that i will create it at form. currently i have 1 table and in that table i have 10 fields which are project_name, doc_ref_no, doc_title, volume, book_no, author, doc_status, box_barcode, filling_location, doc_availability.
i have create 2 forms, one form for user to add new record and another one is to search record. the user can search by enter project name, doc title, volume and box barcode. for project name and volume, i use combo box and for doc title and box barcode i'm using text box.
i want to create search function that can detect from user keyword and even user did not fill in all the form, the system still can search the record.
I have a query linked to some combo/txt boxes on a form so the user defines which categories he/she is looking for then presses button and query comes up with relevant results. This works fine if the user inputs information that is actually there, but if they leave it blank it goes all wrong.
The statements I have in the query are as follows:
[Forms]![frmStockControlSigned]![comboSupplier] [Forms]![frmStockControlSigned]![txtPurchaseOrder] etc.
I thought the solution may be along the lines of this but it does not work: =if([Forms]![frmStockControlSigned]![txtDate]=Null,[Forms]![frmStockControlSigned]![txtDate],"*")
basically i want to make it so the user does not have to enter criteria into evey box, thus if every search box is left blank it would show all records "*"
Right what im after sounds complicated but its quite simple.
I have a client database, in this database each client has 3 skill fields, i also have a form with a listbox and an unbound textboxes that are linked to the query so when the textbox is typed in the listbox updates.
Now ive sorted out the problem of not all fields showing it some of them are blank now the problem is.
When input text into one of the boxes the listupdates, now if theres text in two boxes. and theres data in one of each that matches it will show neither, because the query is looking for data that matches in both fields, now i need partial matches so it will give results of data in both fields.
not understanding fully what i mean?
i have zipped my db, if you open the db then open the form 'MainListRecTrades2nd' and fill in data in both primary and secondary trades that matches from the list you will see.

The solution i was thinking of would to have 1 textbox that searches all the fields and displays data from any of the fields in the list
I am attempting my first access database which tracks blood components in our medical facility. When a component is issued to a patient there is a button to push which links to a report that runs a query. The user must enter the unique key for the component at a promt, which ensures the report generated will be for that component only. My question is if there is a way to cpture and use that key automatically when pressing the button. If I need to clarify something, please let me know--I may not have the Access developer lingo down yet...
I have a search combo box to search for a field on my form. But it just goes to that particular record. The combo box is for client id and it has more than one record. How can I have it return just the records pertaining to the client id choosen in the combo box.
I created a search form. It has 6 unbound text boxes and 2 combo boxes in the header. Users can select values from the combo boxes and/or enter names in the other text boxes. These values all go into a filter on my Main table and the filtered results show up in the detail section. That used to work fine.
Now, I've been trying to convert the filter into a query and show the query results in the detail section instead. (Why? Because of the ever-changing business requirements, of course!)
For some reason, the detail section went blank. All white. When I change the Data Entry property to No, it fixes that.
However, the text boxes for entering the search criteria will not accept any values anymore. It's like they are disabled.
When I change Data Entry property to Yes, I can enter text into the text boxes again. But the detail section blanks out again.
I am trying to create a query that takes values from a search form and provides records. I was having issues with getting results when some boxes on the form were left blank. I found a solution to that and it worked with a small number of fields. However when I make the full form query (about 8-10 fields) and run it says the query is too complex. I wrote the sql as I could not get designer to do what I wanted. Attached is the sql that works and that which is "too complex".
I'm trying to figure out, how to make seach form with one text field, that will accept OR statements. I have one table with fields name, category, and description. Is there any chance to make search like this: User will put "part of the string" OR "part of the string2". Result will be the list of the records that include these parts of the strings in any of the given above fields (name, category, description) I hope i'm clear enough
I have a bound form which is from tblEmployee, I'd like to have a dataset below (like a splitform but not a split as they have limits) so when i search in the box it gives me say all the smiths - i select for example david smith and it displays his information in the form objects above so they can be edited?
I've built a PostgreSQL database for some ecology data and am trying to use MS Access 2010 to make a front-end for it.
I've created a form to display site data; it includes such fields as site ID, site name, county, state, landscape, etc. (There are more, but if I can get the idea down with a couple of these, I should be good to handle the rest). One can click through the form and see 14 pages of site details, which is fine because there are 14 sites.
What I want to do now is make a search form in which one can enter values for site ID, site name, county, etc, and somehow get the pages of the display form that match those values. It's not terribly important to me how that output looks - whether it's a list of matches that allows for clicking on a match and showing just one page of the display form, or whether it's a filtered subset of the display form pages that one still clicks through to view them all.
if there is code to write, where do I type it? Do I start my search form by making a form with the search fields as values, or is there some other way? How do I make those search fields into search boxes rather than display boxes?
I have a form with two textboxes called: txtAptDep, txtAptArr.
On their right side there are two buttons (btn1, btn2) to open a form called frmAirportSearch. It allows to choose (from a listbox) the airport to be filled in those two textboxes.
Now, if I search for an airport pressing btn1, I want the airport to be returned into txtAptDep, while if I open the form by btn2, the airport choosen must be returned in the second textbox.
creating a searching form and to show the results inside the form! It's like a Library type searching. u want to search for some type of monument or so and it shows the results, all the info, photos and that!
I am designing a db for a dental clinic. I created 3 tables as follows:
1.T_Patients (P_Code(PK) and other fields) 2.T_Diagnosis (P_Code(Fk), ToothRecId (PK) and 32 text fields for 32 tooth named (UR1 to UR8, UL1- UL8 for Upper left / right Arch and LR1 to LR8, LL1 to LL8 for Lower left / right Arch) 3.T_Pmts (P_Code (FK), PmtRecId(PK) and other fields
I created one main form based on T_Patients tbl and similarly another 2 forms from other 2 tables. In the main form I placed 1 sub-form and 2nd sub-form. Bothe the sub-forms are Master / Child relationship on form over P_Code field in the main form.
Single character length has used for all the 32 text fields in table T_Diagnosis. So only one single B, C, D, F, M could be entered.
Normally we search patient’s profile by patient’s code or by name that displays in the main form. But the client needs to search patient’s record by tooth criteria.
There may many tooth fields in the first sub-form that are null and only some of them with any one of the B, C, D, F, M character. Bcz there is very rare chances of damaging all 32 tooth of the patient.
Now my clients want to search based on the data which are B, C, D, F, M characters. Means once he types C (stands for Cavity) in a search text box then it should bring all the sub-form records that hold value C in any of the 32 fields.
1.How can I do this when the search based on SUB-FORM and not over the main form? 2.The entered criteria value might by in other field also. Like say if entered C then this value may be in any of the 32 fields. So how it would bring all records?
I am confused how to do it. I attached a pic of my form for your ready ref.
I would really appreciate if somebody could help me.
* This code works to search frmMember for criteria found in tblMember:
Private Sub cmdSearch_Click() If Len(cboSearchField) = 0 Or IsNull(cboSearchField) = True Then MsgBox "You must select a field to search." ElseIf Len(txtSearchString) = 0 Or IsNull(txtSearchString) = True Then MsgBox "You must enter a search string."
[Code] ....
* But this next code which I have copied and Pasted to frmEventInput, then renamed the frm and tbl, retrieves the same criteria as the above (tblMember) instead of the tblEventInfo...
