I have a table with about 3800 records and about 150 fields. It also has 4 tables with related data that each have only one field. I am going to create a query to base my from from. Should I just take the star * and get all the fields for each table or should i manually specify them. There are only about 5 fields out of the 150 that I dont need and I need to see the rest.
I have written code to write a query with parameters set from selections made in a multiselect list box on a form.
I now want to add a check box for possible fields to include in the query and put these on the bottom of my form to allow users to select which fields they want to be displayed in the query result.
I want to create form with 10 checkbox, each checkbox is linked to a field "name, Address, TelephoneNumber, BuissinessName" I would like to know if it is possible for the user to check the box and then the field will show in query. if only name is check then only name will show in the query.
I have tried using [Forms]![Formname]![CheckboxName] as criteria but this didn't work it when I had more then one checkbox and when the one check box was not checked nothing showed in the forms.
I'm not sure how to search on this, even in the advanced search. If this has been answered, could you point me in the right direction?
I have a main form AddNewCompany (the infamous tab control that now works - thanks to your combined efforts). On it I have a command button that pops up a form of continuous forms with all the companies in the table (the query calls the CompanyID and CompanyName fields only). I have attached an image of the interface.
This means the user can see if the company already exists and doesn't enter it again. (I'm sure there are more effecient ways of doing this, but this is simple and it works. I also know key fields should be autonumbers instead of text, but I have reasons for doing it this way).
What I would like to be able to do is click on the CompanyID field and have the companies information show up in the main form.
I have a main form that has a tab control on it. The main form is called frm_AddNewCompanyContacts. It is opened in edit mode. To see if a company exists I use a command button to call a popup form with a list of all companies' IDs and names. I then want the user to be able to click on a commad button on the popup form to take the main form to that record. After an intial post, and subsequent search, I found the appropriate code. This is what I am using for the onclick event of the command button on the popup form:
Private Sub cmdGoToCompany_Click() Dim rst As Recordset Set rst = Forms![frm_AddNewCompanyContacts].RecordsetClone rst.FindFirst "[CompanyID]='" & Me![CompanyID] & "'" If rst.NoMatch = False Then Forms![frm_AddNewCompanyContacts].Bookmark = rst.Bookmark End If
End Sub
When I click on the command button I get an error message:
"The expression On Click you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Microsoft Office Access was communication with OLE server or ActiveX Control (I don't have an ActiveX Control).
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Even Procedure]. *There may have ben an error evaluating the function, event or macro."
Hello everyone, I have a query that runs from the main form when the command button is clicked. It displays the results in datasheet view. I want the user to double click a specific record and jump to that specific record in the main form. How do I do this? Sorry, if this is a dumb question. Please help, my boss is breathing down my neck. The main form is called Contracts. Each record has a unique ID.
I am stuck trying to figure out this problem. I have a main form "frm_tirelog_600" which has 4 combo boxes "cboleg", "cbocar", "cbopos", "cboserial" on it. The first 3 combo boxes are used as criteria on 1 of 3 subforms that I have. The fourth combo box "cboserial" is used for the criteria in a query on another subform that I have called "frm_mount_600_subform", which is independant from the main form, I hope I have explained that clearly enough. What I need to be able to do is have the subform fill in 3 of the fields on it "leg", "car", "pos" with the value from the 3 combo boxes on my main form. I can get it to show in the fields but not write to the table. I have searched the forum and have not been able to locate anything that would work and really need any assistance with this. Im not real strong in the coding department which is where I beleive this could be done.
I have attached a copy of my DB which I hope will better explain it. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have a form linked to a subform by an activity field, Both have a UID field also. I want to store the UID from the main form in each record in the subform. How do I link the two? I've done it before but cannot remember how and have been trying now for AGES! Any help would be much appreciated :)
I have one main form with 3 tabulated sub forms. My main form consists of two fields. When the user clicks tab 2 (subform 2) or tab 3 (subform 3) the main fields should hide
I tried to achieve this by using the on click event at the tabbed forms. I referenced the two main fields and used the visible property followed by a form requery. It didn't work.
I'm trying to sum up the hours of a sub-form on the main form. I've followed the instructions in Access Help so far. I've created a text box in the footer of the sub form with the following control source:
=Sum([Mon])
which should sum up all the hours in HoursMon fileds.
Then I've created a text box on the main form with the following code in the Control Source
=[frmTshtProj Subform]!SumMon
But it doesn't work. I get a #Name? appear in the box instead of a total. Any ideas?
This is an employee timekeeping database. I have a main form "frmTEMain", with a tab subform named "frmGridsub" with a tab named "Grid" on the lower half. On the tab page is the "frmGridsub" a continuous form that looks like a datasheet, many horizontal rows of data. The subform works correctly with several combo boxes that auto populate. There are many different employees listed in the Grid subform. "Employee" is the name used for the field that holds the unique ID number in the tables that feed the subform. The subform populates another table "dbo_BCRC."
When I click on a row in the subform I want fields to update on the Main Form with Employee, LastName, FirstName, that come from the table that was populated when data was entered into the subform. As the person clicks on the various rows in the subform, the main form fields need to synch with the row.
Do I use "Got Focus" event? Do I need to create another subform and place it on the top half of the Main Form?
I have set certain fields on my main form to be required to protect from accidnetal skipping which has occured in past. However, in middle of form, there are a group of checkboxes, which opens their correndsponding popup forms for more details. Right now, I get an error if it try to pop up a form because not all required fields are filled in.How do I make Access suspend the requirments whenever the checkboxes are checked and additional info are being inputed?Edit= tried setting it as dialog boxes, but to no avail.
I have built a form that holds details of training records. What I want is when a drop down is selected in the main form, that it will populate some of the fields in the subform. I have this working at the moment, that for example, when a certain course is selected, that their modules will appear in the subform. Where my problem arises is that I have a relationship between two tables that I want to appear on the subform, so that details can be filled in on the subform against the list of modules that automatically appear.
I've made a form with list boxes on, the user's selections from which are taken as parameters for a query, created by VBA code.
I want to add a final list box to the form from which the user can select which of the available fields they want to see in the query output (i.e. has the same effect as checking/unchecking the "Show" checkbox for each field on the standard query design grid).
I have written the following code to try and do this, but it isn't working. I'm very new to VBA and wonder if anyone can help me out by showing me what's wrong?
'Build Field List If Me!lstFieldList.ItemsSelected.Count > 0 Then For Each varItem In Me!lstFieldList.ItemsSelected strFieldList = strFieldList & "[" & Me!lstFieldList.ItemData(varItem) & "], " Next varItem strFieldList = Left(strCriteria, Len(strCriteria) - 2) Else strFieldList = "'*'" End If
Running the above gives an error, and the section under "'Create Query String" is highlighted in debug mode so I guess the error must lie there? Either that, or the earlier part where strFieldList is being create is generating something which strSQL cannot interpret.
I have a database with a Main Menu Form, containing a Button that loads my main data entry form. When the Button is Clicked portions of the data entry form that is loading shows through the Main Form Background (e.g. portions of the navigation bars, and portions of the boarder on the form that is loading.)
Is there a way to select a query field based on conditions? There is a table at work that I need to use for my reporting in which the field names are the months of the year. Since my report is monthly for that specific month only, I have to change my field in the query every single month. I would like to be able to put in some type of code that will automatically select the proper month field.
Hi, I need help in creating a parameterized query.
I need to show only certain fields depending on the value of the parameters. For example, I have a table with fields: ID, Name, Phone Number, Address, DOB. The parameter can only be value of A, B or C. If the user input A as the parameter in the query, only field ID, and Name will be shown If the user input B as the parameter in the query, field ID, Name and Phone Number will be shown. etc.
Is there any way to do this, rather than to separate the query into 3 queries for each of the parameters? Thank you.
I have a subform which makes a change to a field on the main form. When focus is returned to the main form, the BeforeUpdate and AfterUpdate events fire. Why? I thought from the form's perspective, the subform is just another control.
BTW, I get the same behavior if I modify the field from within the Exit event of the subform control.
In either case, the main form's Dirty event is NOT triggered.
Firstly, I'm an ex-fulltime access developer who has found himself doing access work again 6 years later; I can't actually believe how much I've forgotten :s
Anyway, I've done a search and havn't found anything that can help me so wondered if anyone could give some advice.
I have an access form with 3 combo boxes and a checkbox next to each of them. these are accessed using a query with 3 iif statements in it stating; (iif checkbox is null, "*", combo_box_value). the whole query looks like this
SELECT Customers.* FROM Customers WHERE (((Customers.Partner)=IIf(Forms!frm_rpt_main!check _partner Is Null,"*",Forms!frm_rpt_main!partner)) AND ((Customers.[Type Business])=IIf(Forms!frm_rpt_main!check_type Is Null,"*",Forms!frm_rpt_main!type)) AND ((Customers.[Year End Month])=IIf(Forms!frm_rpt_main!check_month Is Null,"*",Forms!frm_rpt_main!month)));
However, the query only seems to want to pull data from all 3 combo boxes
My issue is that if a checkbox is not ticked, I want the values to be ignored for all 3 combo's.
I've attached a copy of the mdb file as my description probably doesnt make any sense, the specific query is "qry_select_month_partner_type_wname_frm_rpt"
I have two tables linked together with one-one relationship with primary key. The form has been created using a select query using these two tables. total fields at present is 253(table1=25 fields, Table2=228 fields Total = 253 fields)
Now my problem is I have to add 20 fields more to the above. so the total fields now is 273 fields but it is not accepting and giving the error as "Too many keys defined 3190".
I am trying to create a select query on "ApprovedDate" where no approval is recorded. IsNull returns an expected type mismatch. Any ideas? Regards:confused:
I am fairly new to Access and I would like to create a form to allow users to create their own query. I would like to allow users to select multiple fields (perhaps with checkboxes?) from all possible fields in a table to return either all data from that field or narrow their search by inputting certain criteria or choosing from a drop down into a text box. Is this possible in Access and any detailed specifics on how to achieve this?
I have a main form with 5 fields (I'd like to be able to use any number of them) that I want to use to run a query against that is contained in a subform. What is the best way to go about this?
I have created a 1 to many database. One employee table with personal details and then tables reflecting costs like, flights, accommodation, visa costs etc.I then created a query(total costs) to add up the total of those tables and then a subform that I inserted in the main form that just display the total over cost.
When I click, new record, everything goes blank which is perfect for me to input a new record but the total of the 1st record( i only have one record at the moment) remains the same.
I am working on a warehouse database and i have run into a small problem. I am using access 2010 and 2007 depending on location.
I have attached a picture of my database relation ship so you can see where i am coming from. What I am trying to do is make a main form called products and use that as the sours of the information that my queries look for and then have linked pages to my main form showing the results of that.
Example of the above would be as follows
Product on main form lets say tennis ball red then on my link forms show stock plus location and quantity
On another linked form product on main form and orders for that product and qty
