Select Current Record In Datasheet And Show In Main Form?

Hello everyone,
I have a query that runs from the main form when the command button is clicked. It displays the results in datasheet view. I want the user to double click a specific record and jump to that specific record in the main form. How do I do this? Sorry, if this is a dumb question. Please help, my boss is breathing down my neck. :eek: The main form is called Contracts. Each record has a unique ID.

The situation is i have two forms, looking at the same table, but the main table shows more records, I would like to select a record in the datasheet subform and have the main form flick through to the corresponding record.

I've got a main form with two lists boxes. I want to show the visible columns in my subform (which is a datasheet) in one listbox and show the hidden columns in the other. Also I want to allow the user to hide / show columns using right or left arrow buttons between the list boxes. My subform is bound to a stored procedure using ADO.

Updating Main Form When Deleting Record From Subform Datasheet

Hi, I have a problem I don't know how to solve it. I have a subform in datasheet view, linked to the main form. There is a running total on the main form based on a dsum on a field of the subform.
When I delete a row on the subform datasheet, the main form calculation is not automatically updated. I had to create a "update" button to do the refresh.
Is there a "on record delete" event available for a datasheet sub form?

I have a navigation tab with 6 sections, of the 6, 5 of them are self-made split view with a form view on top and datasheet on bottom and upon adding records through a command button on form view I would like the datasheets to update.

On other forms it would (I believe) update to the bottom of the datasheet, now on the ones I've been banging my head against it either replaces the top record or doesn't show up unless I switch tabs and switch back. From my searches I assume this is in need of a requery...

Forms :: Main Form With 2 Subforms Fails To Open Current Record

I have a main form "frmDriverNoticeRecord" with 2 subforms, "frmSubDriverNotice" and "frmSubVehicleRecord"..The main form uses "IncidentID" as the PK. Each form stores data in its own table. The tables are related via IncidentID and there is a 1-many relationship between tblIncident (main) and tblDN (sub) and tblVehicle (sub).

I have a form "frmIncidentLog" displaying records in a table view with a few fields for quick reference and to allow selection of a single record for detailed viewing. I created a command button with the intent to open the "frmDriverNoticeRecord" at the current record. The main form and child link fields appear to be linked correctly; i.e. IncidentID on all three. If I open the form manually it opens and I can use it and search and filter as I want. If I try to open it via the command button It opens a small window asking for the IncidenID, when I enter theIncidentID number, it opens the form to the first record every time.Here is the code:

I have VBA code for a Print Preview button on the main form that previews the current record in a separate Report using this code:

I use this Print Preview code on a Button in the Form Header. The Main form lists head of household information. I also have a tabbed control with three tabs that have SubForms for Address, Children and Contact details. The problem I have is that if any of the subforms are left blank I get a Run-Time Error '3021': No Current Record. If I Debug (press the button), it takes me straight to this line:

highlighted in Yellow.Anyone on my database must have an address, should have contact details and could have children. If any one of these is blank then the print preview will not work.I would like to know how to stop this error happening for blank records in my subforms.

Use Popup Form To Select A Record On Main Form

I'm not sure how to search on this, even in the advanced search. If this has been answered, could you point me in the right direction?

I have a main form AddNewCompany (the infamous tab control that now works - thanks to your combined efforts). On it I have a command button that pops up a form of continuous forms with all the companies in the table (the query calls the CompanyID and CompanyName fields only). I have attached an image of the interface.

This means the user can see if the company already exists and doesn't enter it again. (I'm sure there are more effecient ways of doing this, but this is simple and it works. I also know key fields should be autonumbers instead of text, but I have reasons for doing it this way).

What I would like to be able to do is click on the CompanyID field and have the companies information show up in the main form.

Use Popup Form To Select A Record On The Main Form

I have a main form that has a tab control on it. The main form is called frm_AddNewCompanyContacts. It is opened in edit mode. To see if a company exists I use a command button to call a popup form with a list of all companies' IDs and names. I then want the user to be able to click on a commad button on the popup form to take the main form to that record. After an intial post, and subsequent search, I found the appropriate code. This is what I am using for the onclick event of the command button on the popup form:

How To Show Most Current Record Only?

I am creating a query based on two tables: 1) tblClient (only one primary key "ClientID") and 2) tblContactDate (with two primary keys "ClientID" and "ContactDate").

Each client may have more than one contact date.

In the query, I only want the records from the tblContactDate showing for the MOST RECENT contact date of the client only; however, right now the query is producing more than one record for those clients with more than one contact date.

Not sure if I need add some special code to the "criteria" area in the Design View, or somewhere else. Your help is appreciated. :confused:

Forms :: Show Only Most Current Record?

i've designed a rental database (which seems to do what i want) - it's not perfect....

But i can't figure out how to accomplish this.

If i have a tenant, who has previously had a lease agreement on one of my properties, but then moves out, and then moves into one of my new properties, i can't seem to see how to get access to display just the new lease details.

I've attached a blank copy of the DB with some sample data to illustrate this.

you will see that test tenant has two leases, one expired lease, and one active lease, but on the main form it just shows the expired (original lease)....

Select Record From List Box To Make Current

Hi. First of all, this is my first post, so tell me if I'm being stupid.

I have a simple form, 'BuildingID', which contains a list box and two buttons. The list box lists a field from the records in the table 'BuildingID'. The two buttons are 'Add Building' and 'Delete Building'. The 'Add Building' button works fine, but I cant figure out how to make the other one work.

I want to be able to single click one of the records in the list box, then hit the 'Delete Building' button to delete the entire record. So I'm guessing I have to somehow make the record that I click on in the list box current when I click on it, then have a standard delete record button.

If anyone can help I would be very greatful. :)

General :: Shortcut Key To Select Current Record

I cannot remember (or find) a simple thing like the shortcut key for selecting the current record I am editing.

I have a form (or sub-form, or table even) set as a continuous form. I want to delete a record. I select the "record selector" on the LHS by left clicking on the grey box. I press [Delete]. No problemo.

I do not want my users to see the "record selector" grey box on LHS of my continuous form. I switch off record selectors. Now I am in edit mode, editing data in a field of my record. I decide I want to delete that record by using the [Delete] button. What is the shortcut key for selecting the record so that I can then press [Delete] do this, given that there is no "grey box record selector" to click on?

Same could apply in direct table view. No clicking on grey record selector box allowed.

Report Filter To Show Only Current Record

Help needed again please

I have managed to link a report to a form where you can double click on the surname and the report opens automatically BUT I want the report to only show the data from the record that I have double clicked - at teh moment the report is coming up with thousands of pages - one for each record.

Can anyone help me with this - I think it's probably something simple but I can't work it out on my own :eek:

i have list box which lists all active records. raw source is based from Main Query which lists all active records from current user. on click even of list box i have macro that goes on record selected in list box, which is working fine.on current event of main form function is called. Main Query order by id Desc, list box order by is Asc problem is when i click on last field in List Box which takes me to record, On Current event does not trigger on main form. if i use Record Selector on main form to go to that same record,On Current triggers.

I'm working With Access 2002, and have a form with 2-subforms. SubForm-1 is a datasheet which shows a list of records. SubForm-2 shows a list of records in a different table, which are linked to the record selected in SubForm-1. The question is how can I Highlite the entire row in Subform-1 when I click on any field in the row. Is there a way to do this?

This is my first thread in this forum..Hope to get best from this site ..well i m facing a problem..i have a main form and a subform (which is in datasheet view) . Now i have a button called "close_form" in main form on whose click event i have writen this code :

1. If i run this form directly from Access and there are no changes i do in the form and click this button then it gets hang after showing error "run time error 2046 ; the command or action undo is not available now " "press End or Debug or help"

2. As i have created a Custom menu, if i run this form from that menu then it does not show any error. But it runs fine for the first time but nothing happens on clicking this button the second time i open the same form ( in same session).
What to do ?? Please help ..

I have a form that when a user fills out the information and select a submit button. It brings up that record in reports in print preview for them to print. The issue i am having when the user enter the information, the report does not show any data until i refresh it. I tried include me.refresh,etc. No luck. I attached the code to make things simpler.

Reports :: Show Data For Current Year With A Record Count

I have a report that I am trying to show data for the current year, but with a record count.

So, for example: I have 3-OVI, 3-Conduct Unbecoming, and 3-Did not transport for the current year.

When I run my report, it will show the above data for the current year, but in this format;

OVI-1
OVI-1
OVI-1
Conduct Unbecoming-1

and so on.

What I would like is;

OVI-3
Conduct Unbecoming-3
Did not transport-3
Total-9

If I take out the date code for the current year in my query, then I get the desired results but I get all data.

If I leave the date code in, then I get the data for the current year but I get the first example above.

Show Current Record Value From Table In Combobox In Addition To Query Results

I have a table, with a related value in another table. E.g. A Items table with a batch value from another table.

I have a form to enter how many of these items has been used and from which batch number they belong.

The batch number is from a dropdown, and batches can be finished(exhausted) and marked such in the table so they no more show in the dropdown.

All this works fine, until, I go back to a entry which was from a batch that has been finished. The combobox is empty although the (Already finished) batch number is mentioned in the table. This is perfectly normal as my query for the combobox is :

What I want is to show the current batch number as well. I tried to make this query get the current value, but wasn't successful. I tried to make a calculated field based on the dropdown and show its value.

Is there any way I can show the batch number in the datasheet? I have to use a datasheet and not a form, because there will be many sub records for the main form, and having a form will be very uneasy.

Select All Query Fields For Main Form?

I have a table with about 3800 records and about 150 fields. It also has 4 tables with related data that each have only one field. I am going to create a query to base my from from. Should I just take the star * and get all the fields for each table or should i manually specify them. There are only about 5 fields out of the 150 that I dont need and I need to see the rest.

Subform Total To Show On Main Form

I have a subform that accounts and adds all the expenses for a certain project (for example, total is $27,000). I would like to know how to duplicate the final cost in the subform and show it on an unbound textbox of that linked main form (the unbound textbox in the main form shows $27,000 also).
