Forms :: How To Populate Subform Fields When Drop Down Selected In Main Form

Mar 12, 2013

I have built a form that holds details of training records. What I want is when a drop down is selected in the main form, that it will populate some of the fields in the subform. I have this working at the moment, that for example, when a certain course is selected, that their modules will appear in the subform. Where my problem arises is that I have a relationship between two tables that I want to appear on the subform, so that details can be filled in on the subform against the list of modules that automatically appear.

Modules & VBA :: Drop Down Select From Another Table

Jul 7, 2015

I had 3 drop down filters that worked when the word being filtered was written in the table. I have since then linked them to new tables to be more database-y. The problem I have found (a couple weeks later too) is that my drop downs broke.

It makes sense why, they are now 1,2,3,4 instead of words but how do I make this work now that it isn't in the current table?

Code:
Private Sub cboMDS_AfterUpdate()
Dim myPlane As String
If Me.cboMDS = 0 Then
myPlane = "Select * from Baseline"

[Code] ....

Forms :: Drop Down Select Control Box - Scrolling Through Records In Table

Aug 14, 2013

I have a fairly large table with approx 15k records. I have a form where I have a drop down/select control box that displays all of these records showing a few of the fields. I select one of these records to create a new record as it places one of the fields into the new record. The problem is that there are so many records that it takes a lot of scrolling to get through all the records.

Once I scroll through all the records, the next time I scroll, it is very fast and shows all the records in one scrolling. However, when I get off the form and then go back it starts over with all the records having to scroll through etc.. What I want to be able to do is have all these records loaded so that they can be scrolled through quickly the first time I open up the form.

General :: Search Fields From Table B And Populate Into Table A

Jul 23, 2013

I have a table called BID with the following fields

bidder, seller, iid, starttime, bidtime, and bidprice

bidder is an id number that is reference to uid of table USER

the USER table have the following fields,

uid, uname, city, and state

I created a BID form for the user to enter data into the BID table. What I am trying to do but is having trouble with is have the user search for their name that may already be store in the uname field in the user table, and what ever they choose base on their search, the uid of this uname gets store into the bidder field of the bid table.

I still have a second step where the user in the bid form can search the iid but shows the itemname from the item table, and the value of seller, iid, and starttime from the auction table gets populated into the bid table.

iid from the auction table is reference to the itemtype and the following fields exist in the itemtype table.

iid, itemname, description

Forms :: DLookup - Using Two Fields (number And Drop Down Text) To Query Table For Data

May 29, 2015

DLookup function. (this is for a stamp collection database).

On my form ("InventoryInput") I have a text box called "Catalog" for a numeric entry and a text combo box for selecting a "Country" in drop down list.

I want to query a table called "CatNameList" to get the "StampName" of the item (based on the entries of Catalog and Country) and populate that name in the text box. The fields in this table are called "StampName", "CatNumb" & "CName" respectively.

I have successfully placed the following expression in the control source of that textbox and able to populate the StampName I need based solely on the catalog number alone.

That express is :
=DLookUp("StampName", "CatNameList", "CatNumb = Form![Catalog]")

So it will populate the "StampName" data to match the "Catalog" number entry just fine.

However, I need to add a second layer to incorporate the Country.

Example : There is a catalog "1" for "USA", and a catalog "1" for "Canada" but both have different "StampName".

I have been attempting to get that second piece added with no success. Here is the expression I have been trying to get to work :

=DLookUp("StampName", "CatNameList", "[CatNumb] = " & [Catalog] & " And CName = '" & [Country] & "'")

Right now, the text box is just blank with the above expression. I thought it may be because there was no match found, but I have triple checked to ensure I have the spelling correct on the country name in both places.

Basically, I just need the dlookup to take the "catalog" and "country" off the form and match it to the "CatNameList" table fields of "CatNumb" and "CName" to give me "StampName" field back on the form.

DLookup - Using Two Form Fields (Number And Drop Down Text) To Query Table For Data

May 29, 2015

Having problems getting dlookup to work in the control source field of a text box.

My form has fields : Catalog # (numeric value) and Country (drop down text selection).

I would like to query a table CatNameList for a name (text) if the catalog # and country find a match on the table.
My field names on the CatNameList table are : Name, Number (to validate against the Catalog # entered on the form) and CName (to validate against the Country drop down on the form).

I am successfully able to populate the name from the CatNameList table on my form using lookup of the catalog # using this :

=DLookUp("Name","CatNameList","Number = Form![Catalog #]")

However, I will eventually have several catalog numbers that will be identical in the table CatNameList, thus why the country is important as the second criteria to be added into the dlookup.

I have tried for a few hours unsuccessfully to add the second portion to my dlookup.

This is what I have currently (not working) that I have been playing with, I'm sure I'm missing a quote mark, & or something simple.

=DLookUp("Name", "CatNameList", "Number = Form![Catalog #] And CName = ‘”& Form![Country] & ”’”)

General :: Use Fields In Query Based Subform To Populate A Table

May 29, 2015

I have a main screen that has a tabbed form in it. Each of those tabs has a sub-form in it that displays information and allows some information to be updated.

In one tab I have a query based sub-form that returns information related to the project. This information cannot be manipulated or changed as it comes out of a company managed database. I would like the analysts to be able to add more granular information to a new table by inputting information in a dropdown field for one of the new table fields, but utilizing two of the existing sub-forms fields as identifiers in the new table.

Forms :: Auto Populate Fields And Save Data To Table

Dec 16, 2013

In my UpdateForm I have 3 fields. PartNumber, Description and SerialNumber. I use 2 tables for these. My MainTable and PartsList Table.

In my PartsList table I have the list of PartNumber in Column (0) and Description in column (1).

In my MainTable I have 4 fields: TransactionID (autoNumber), PartNumber(text), Description(text) and SerialNumber (text).

Now, In my UpdateForm I want the user to just select the PartNumber with a combo box (that also show the "Description" (I created this using the combo box wizard)). But I want to auto populate the field in my "Description" text box every time the user will enter new record and will also update my MainTable with all the values they entered in my UpdateForm.

I tried this codes in the after update of PartNumber combo box (properties):

Description = Partnumber.Column(1)

I tried also:

me.Description.value=me.PartNumber.column(1)

both codes unsuccessful.

Populate Table With Input From Form With Combo Box (multiple Fields)

Feb 21, 2011

I am using Access 2007 and have reviewed many blogs and looked at the Northwind db to try to solve this problem. I would like to create a form that functions in the same manner as the "Order Details" form in the Northwind db. Specifically, I want to create a form that will allow me to input a value and have the form get data from another table and populate the table I need populated.

I would like to populate a table "Outside", field names are Key, Name, term, Value, Date.

The table that contains the data is named "CV" and the filed names are Key, Name.

In the form, I would like to enter a value for Key into a combo box, and have it put the value for Key and for Name into the form, and allow me to enter whatever I want to in the Term, Value and Date field. When I tab out, I would like all this data to be in the table "Outside.

Forms :: Populate Field With Drop Down List

Oct 25, 2013

Is there a function that will populate a field with drop down menu based on two criteria?I want the the fields with first and last name to populate with drop down lists based on the employee code I have inputted in the form and job title from a query.

Path: looks at employee code from form > looks at specific job title from query > pulls out all first names in one field and all last names in another field with the same job title in drop down list from query

Employee Code: 100

Returns all employees' first names in first field with same job title:

Prince
Tina
Greg

Returns all employees' last names in second field of form with same job title:

Fey
William
Jones

Here's what the query looks like in datasheet view:

Code:
Location # First Name Last Name Job Title Employee Code
1 John Smith Technician 100
2 Jane Doe Manager 100
2 Greg Jones Engineer 100
1 Prince William Engineer 100
1 Tina Fey Engineer 100

I've been trying to get dlookup to work, but no luck. Here's one of my formula:

Code:
=DLookUp("[Last Name]", "[Employees tb]", _ "[Employee Code] = Form![Employee Code]" & "[Employees tb]", _ " [Manager]"
SELECT EmployeeCodeONLY.[Employee Code] FROM EmployeeCodeOnly;
SELECT [Employees tb].[First Name] FROM [Employees tb] WHERE ((([Employees tb].[First NAME])=[Forms]![Form1]![Employee Code]));

The first is linked to a separate table that only contains employee codes because query I am working with has duplicates due to multiple records.The second is trying to link both the table and query together to populate only first name.how to include the second criteria, job title, to refine it more.

Forms :: Drop Down To Populate Data To Subform

Dec 15, 2013

I have:

Tables: Customer and Orders

Relationship: Customer ID is the primary key in Customer and is a foreign key in order table.

I need to create a Form with contains all the customer info from the customer table, as a drop down list. Once the customer is selected, all their orders should appear in a subform. At the minute I can get a form to work which shows all the orders but you have to go to the next record so see the order. For example it will say John smith and one order. The next record will be John smith again and their second order in the sub from.

I have used access in the past and I am fine with creating everything apart from the drop down. I am just a bit lost with the structure.

Queries :: Populate Form Fields With Records From A Table Bound To Recordsource

Feb 5, 2014

I would like to populate form fields with records from a table/query so that they are bound to the recordsource and the record to be displayed can be selected from a combobox. I am hoping that in this way, any changes made are propagated to the original table.

I have created a combobox from which the primary key can be selected and added all the fields from the table appearing on this form as values.

In my Change event for the combobox I have this code:

Private Sub cboID_Change()
Me.RecordSource = "SELECT b01_Participants.*FROM b01_Participants WHERE (((b01_Participants.ParticipantID)= " & cboID.Column(1) & "));"
Me.Refresh
End Sub

However, I receive an 3075 error when this code runs which seems to relate to my syntax or an extra ")".

Select Fields Of Table To Use When Printing Mailing Labels

Jan 2, 2008

I have a table that contains a lot of different information regarding to mailing.

There are columns for Name, Address, Address2, Address 3, City, State, Zip, Country, Base Name, etc.

Some units will only required parts of the above information. I'm using the Name as an identifier in the DB only and Address is the beginning of content that I want to use.

My issue stems out of the fact that the City, State, and Country are not always required but the Base Name, may be used in lieu of the City.

I was looking at making checkboxes next to each of the columns on the form on the field and then using those checkboxes somehow to create a report for Mailing Labels.

I'm just not sure how to set this up.

General :: Select Item Number From Drop Down Box To Create A Report

Jun 27, 2012

I'm currently working on fixing an older 97 database that I've updated to 2010. I have just populated the Drop down box with about three fields. Ideally what I want to do is after having selected the item number from the drop down box I then hit the button that creates a report with the information about that item number.

At the moment...If the box is blank it reports all the item numbers, however if i fill the box(select an item) it returns nothing i.e the report is blank.

I've looked at the query that builds the report, there are only three fields that populate the. location, part number and description. from a tbl called MainDetails

the only other thing:
If([Forms]![frmReports]![FLoc] Is Null,[FUNCTIONAL LOCATION] Is Not Null,[FUNCTIONAL LOCATION] Like [Forms]![frmReports]![FLoc])
it has a criteria of <>False
*FLoc is the drop down box *functional location is the location field.
I believe all the above does is populate the report if Floc is empty.

What can I put to make the report generate what ever I pick in the drop down box 'FLoc' source the three fields from the 'MainDetails table'.
