The timetracker that I am building stores the history of the task in multiple rows. Here's a simplified view.
Task ID | Assignor ID | Assignee ID | Description | Status
1 | 5 | 10 | I could not make this change. Please try at your end | assigned
1 | 10 | 2 | I made this change. Please check it. | resolved
1 | 2 | 10 | Please make a few modifications. | assigned
1 | 10 | 2 | Done. | resolved
1 | 10 | 10 | Cool. You're in for a raise! | closed
If i want to select task histories of tasks which are not closed, i.e. the status in the last record is not set to closed, how would i go about doing it? As of now I am doing this through code, where I cycle through the recordset and skip displaying the rows if the task has been closed. But I'm sure there's an easier way of doing this.
I am at my Login Screen, I want it to return to the Login Screen if you select "NO" and Close the DB if "YES"
Here is my current code:
Private Sub Form_Close() If MsgBox("Would you like to EXIT the Database?", vbYesNo, "Quiting Database") = vbYes Then Application.Quit Else ??? End If End Sub
Hi, we use access for localisation in our application. The business object which accessess the access uses DAO connectivity and we often land to "Too many client tasks" problem.
is it wise to change the DAO to ADO? if so the above problem will go off? what are the chances that the problem still persists?
is that access has any limits on the number of connections? like 64, 255? or is that ADO/DAO has any limitaions on the number of concurrent connections to access DB?
I am just starting to use Access and have set up many simple forms, datasheets, reports, summaries, etc. I have not worked with macros, etc. and need help for this project. I have set up a task table
F1 - DateOfCall - date - now() F2 - Client - text F3 - DateCompleted - date F4 - DueDate - date F5 - problemDescription - memo F6 - Resolution - memo
I need to run a query and/or report every week summarizing what has been done the past week. Would also like to view previous weeks. I need help. How do I go about doing this.
I am still confuse after reading threads on producing running sum on queries. help!
This query is to produce a time line graph of Progress Tasks with 3 main categories - New, Completed and Outstanding. So I got months on the x-axis and count on the Y-axis.
sample data. say we look back for jobs in the month in feburary Date Added; Date Completed ; category 11/1 ; NIL ; Outstanding 11/1 ; 1/3 ; Outstanding 11/1 ; 14/2 ; Completed 1/2 ; NIL ; Outstanding 1/2 ; 1/3 ; New and Outstanding 1/2 ; 14/2 ; New and Completed
so the total count of the categories for Feburary New = 2 ,Completed= 2, Outstanding=4
I'm creating a fairly basic case management system in Access 2007 and i'm wanting a way of populating a set of tasks when a case is created...
e.g.
I have a case table, which contains basic information about the case, case manager, ID, date created etc.
I've also got a task table with a list of tasks
When i create a new case I want it to pull in the list of tasks from the task table, the tasks are static so i wouldnt want them to update the task table but update progress on the tasks against the case.
Do i need another table for like casetasks where it populates the blank tasks and then they're updated with an ID linked back to the Case.
I would like to make an action list based on tasks. I try to make a query that does the following things:
-Taken.Priority=1 -show maxium 5 tasks sorted on make date(taken.ingevoerd) -OR with a total duration of maxium 480 minutes (Taken.[Geschatte duur (min))
The last one is to hard for me to make. For example if the duration of 4 tasks is 420 minutes, the fifth task (100 min) should not be shown, because the criteria of maximum amout of minutes is reached. This is what I have made so far:
SELECT DISTINCT TOP 5 Taken.ID, Taken.Omschrijving, Taken.Ingevoerd, Taken.Deadline, Taken.Priority, Taken.[Geschatte duur (min)] FROM Taken GROUP BY Taken.ID, Taken.Omschrijving, Taken.Ingevoerd, Taken.Deadline, Taken.Priority, Taken.[Geschatte duur (min)] HAVING (((Taken.Priority)=1)) ORDER BY Taken.Ingevoerd DESC;
I have a query, i need to get dsum of total task given to an employee.
I have grouped task_description and select count and it is now showing each employee as 1 which is correct.. i ma looking to get dsum based on this task count but with a criteria that i want to see these tasks sum month a have a month field which i get from assigned date the month field is showing like this december-2013.
Based on this i want to calculate dsum as first to see task count which i mentioned earlier, then employee id which is in query as ID and then month.. this sum will calculate monthly tasks given to each employee.
I have been searching the web for a solution to this problem. I have created a scheduled task on Windows 7 to automatically run a macro from a command line, however, it seems to only run when the user is logged onto the machine. Is there a way to run Access without the interactive logon? I would rather not leave the machine logged in with this account, but if that is the only solution, so be it.
I need the ability to assign employees to a different task in each of four different timeslots on a daily basis. What I would like to do is as I assign an employee to a task in timeframe 1, I would like for them to become unavailable to assign to another task in the same timeframe.
For Example: Three employees to assign to three tasks at the 8 AM to 10 AM time slot.
Employee Task Time Assigned
Emp 1, Emp 2, Emp 3 Task 1 8 AM to 10 AM Emp 2-Task 1
Emp 1, Emp 3 Task 2 8 AM to 10 AM Emp 3-Task 2
Emp1 Task 3 8 AM to 10 AM Emp1-Task 3
It would be nice to set this up in a form where my person doing the scheduling can assign an individual to a task and that individual name disappears from the combo boxes, list boxes, or is "greyed-out" in a listing of employees available for the time period for the remaining assignments.
I'm working on a scheduling system for my fathers company that automates some redundant tasks. Most importantly the system manages the order of processes on different parts (ie, part "tubes" may be cut, then drilled, then welded, then shipped).
I'm trying to create a form that allows for the editing and viewing of all the parts and the processes for each part for a specific work Order. Ideally the information that applies to all the parts (Work order Number, due date etc) would appear at the top of the form with all of the processes to appear beneath (Separated into groups - all the parts to be welded shown together). My problem with using sub forms for this was that I need all the records to be shown without scrolling. Is there a way to dynamically change the size of each Subform to match the required size, or is there a better feature to use?
I want to count the number of tasks by department by week. I need the time so my date the task was added is formated as a date/time.
I created a query and added the department (twice so that I can group and count), and transaction date. I clicked on totals and added the count function under the department. I added this criteria to the task date: between [start date] and [end date].
Problem is that it's grouping by day and each one is different because all times are different. How do I group these by day and not time?
I have a report based on a query that has data for many dates. At the moment I have put a specific date in the criteria of the query so that I could build the report format. So it now displays all the data for the date i have in the criteria section. I will need to run this report several times per week so the specified date (and corresponding data in the report) will need to be changed to a new date when I open the report i.e. when I open my report I want to show data in the report only for a specified date.
Can I create a date parameter box open up when I open the report? Can I create a form with a button that when I click will open the report displaying data for that date? What would be the best way?I also need to display the specified date on the report.
Problem: Visual Basic run-time error 7792: You can't open a subform when it is also open in Design view.
I have a subform with properties for SourceObject, LinkMasterFields, LinkChildFields changing according to objects and events in the master form.
The subform was bound to a query before which meant that the subform load event was happening as soon as the master form is loaded. I needed to restrict the subform loading until a certain point so I removed the SourceObject property for the masterform's subform. The subform on the master form is now Unbound.
(This is because I'm now running some code on the FormLoad event for the subform which needs to be restricted until the LinkMasterFields and LinkChild Fields properties have been assigned correctly otherwise it takes ages to load.)
Now I'm getting the above error. Obviously, i do not have the subform open anywhere in design view. No Visual Basic windows are open. I've closed the db, closed access, reopened it and clicked on nothing except the masterform. The error occurs when I raise the event in the master form which assigns the sourceobject property to the subform, i.e.
Me.sfmQryAllOV.SourceObject = "sfmQryAllOV"
Can anyone help me? I've googled this but finding no answers.
I have a small problem which I feel I should be able to solve but the hours of trying are proving me wrong!
From a choice of 16 events, competitors can enter as many as they like providing they are eligible. For each event they receive performance marks which are duly stored in a table. Some compete in 1 event others in 5 or 6. (I do not have a control showing ‘number of events entered’ and have tried several options, all unsuccessful, to create a ‘count’ of events entered. Is there a way?) My main problem is, from each individuals’ records, how do I select only the highest 3 marks from the classes each individual entered.
I have a table with customer details, probs over 3000 customer, and i need a method of selecting the customer in a form by their surname. Currently i have a combo box, but as you can imagine, this is not practical with so many records. anyone think of any other way to do it?
I have a query that gives an out put of 'worst offenders'. these offenders are in order of on field ascending (number of entries made per week) and another field descending (total sales). It is by the combination of the sorting of these fields that we have an ordered list of offenders.
For my report i want to only see the top 10 records of this sorted list.
so for this selection i simply want to select the [B]first 10 records [B]of the ordered list. I cant make a selection by any one particular field(as explained above)
i have looked into the 'select top' functions and 'dfirst', but I dont think they'll work for me.
Can anyone tell me why sometimes when i'm using access all of a sudden when i click in cells, control boxes etc that i select everything and i cant position the mouse with a string of text with selecting all of it.
hey guys, im having one last problem with a report im making. just want to thank boblarson, Rich and Dennisk for all the help they have given me upto now, i have added to your reputation guys, thanks!
My problem is as follows:
I have a form for my products and a subform for the suppliers, each product can have many suppliers.
I need to have a report of products to send out to customers, so i created a check box to "tick" if i want to include it in the report. So far so good, however, the report shows each product several times for each supplier :(
can anyone tell me how to select only the supplier with the lowest supplier price for each product
I am currently trying to create a query that will allow me to do the following:
Prompt the user with a pop up box, asking:
Please enter start date Please enter end date
It will then select everything from my table between those two dates (this works), and then it will ignore all those items that have a time after 7am or before 7pm (this works), but I need it to also select all entries that fall on a saturday or sunday. Now because my raw data comes in the form of (australian dates): 7/09/2005 9:39:10 AM, I am using an update query to split the field into two fields: DateFrom and TimeFrom (both are date/time fields). I then need to create another field called Day, which takes the data in DateFrom and converts the date to dddd (using Format(Date()) i assume), giving me a field with the day name in it, ie: Sunday.
I can then use that to differentiate between weekdays and weekends.... as I use MySQL and PHP more often than I do access, I have no idea how to do this.
So in short:
How do I (this is what i think i need):
Select * from tblData WHERE Day!=Sunday OR Saturday AND TimeFrom > 7:00pm OR TimeFrom < 7:00am
Select * from tblData WHERE Day=Sunday OR Saturday
Both of those selections, will of course need to be performed within my date constraits specified by the user.
I have a small problem in query selection. I have a query that selects values based on a criteria. [value from a combobox]. The problem is that i need to select all the rows if the value of the combobox is empty.
I am working on a query to select the most current value for a given record based on dates. The record has an associated cost for a given year say 2000. For years 2001 to 2006 there is no cost. I want to use the cost in 2000 for the most current cost even though my date criteria specifies say 2002. Can this be done within the select query?
I would like a command button to print records from a select query displaying dates for the past 2 days but not for todays date. e.g. today is the 29th, I want to print records for the 27th & 28th.
Data is being recorded hourly and kept for 2 months so there will be new and old data that I don't want printed.
I am building a database to evaluate football team performance. I have a table with results (tblResults) where a team will have records in either the Home Team or Away Team fields depending on the fixture.
I want to include a "Team Form" calculation that selects the last 6 games for each team (both home & away) and allocates points to calculate a recent form stat for comparison with the opposition.
I have tried using the TOP VALUES option in a query, but I can't seem to get it to extract the top 6 in descending date order for every team.
I have a table holding the number of each task planned each month, with a field for the name of the task and a field for each month stretching of for a number of years, and would like to be able to open a form or run a query on the present months field and the following six months without having to have a seperate form or query for each starting month.
any help or a point in the right direction would be apreciated.
