I'm working on a form that when opened has a pop up filter that asks you to enter "1, 2, 3, 4 or 5". These numbers have to be equal to an actual word within the form. For example, on the form we have a box called "business unit". One of the options in "business unit" is "Human Resources".
I want to set 1 = to Human Resources so that way in the filter box all a person has to type is 1, and all of HR's records will pop up. The reason for this is we are trying to eliminate typing as much as possible.
I have a main form and a subform. The main form displays the information as combo box = column.2 (in other words it shows the actual word not recorded y/n checkbox = obviously shows which is checked
However the subform shows
combobox = 1 or 2 etc the recordid y/n check box 1 for yes 2 for no
How do I get the subform to display the words instead of numbers? (can live with the Y/N)
have basically the same issue with a split form (combo only) shows words and datasheet view shows corresponding record id number
tried using =[coffeetype].[column.2] on both the subform and split form datasheet but doesn't work.
I'm trying to pull fields from a table into a form - and have had other problems with this.....
What is textual information in one table. ie. the table I am trying to acces from a drop down will only appear as numbers instead of the text entry in the original - I have triend the bound colums but these are correct?
I've had this problem at a couple of points - it seems to be formatting the forms as numbers and pulling in the record numbers rather than the textual information. The bound colums are pointed at the textual entries but I can not change the formatting in the forms etc to text rather than number... In the drop down it shows the text entries but will not allow them to be saved when updated?
I have a membership database. A number of members go by their middle names or a nickname rather than their first name. I need to keep track of their real full names, but I want the new-record default of the preferred name field to equal the contents of the first name field. How do I set this in the table design? The table already has 1400 records, and it would be quite a job to manually copy each first name to the preferred name field, a job I would rather avoid.
I have some data I need to clean. It is in an address field the majority of the data is fine but there are some records with words that have been spelt with numbers:
I have a form that have textbox that calculate total and then i want to convert numbers to words. Iv got the code with function currencytotext but when i set the code source of another textbox to:
=currencytotext([inv_total])
I have an error. I saw this on internet but i think bcz I am using access 2013 may be the syntax is different a bit.
I am using access 2007 i need to know that i have a field as combined sum of apx cost with the name =sum([apx cost]) in the report section, i need the value coming in this box to be converted in text as pak ruppees.
I have two text boxes and I'm wondering how I can filter my records of my table (through my query), between two numbers on my form. So for example lets call the two text boxes Num1 and Num2, the logical process is:
Code: IF Num1 or Num2 IS empty THEN filter records with "*" ELSE IF Num1 and Num2 contain a number THEN filter records between those two numbers
SQL, Me.Filter, BETWEEN in criteria. How I can accomplish this.
I am attempting to split out a descriptive field so that each words which may exist in that particular field will be split out into seperate fields ... for example, if the violation field is populated with a four worded description of 'Assualt on Police Officer' I would like to somehow strip out the words so that 'Assualt' and 'on' and 'Police' and 'Officer' are all in seperate fields. I am not sure if this can be done using a simple query in access ... if anyone can offer any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm having a little difficulty setting up a combo box to filter another combo box. I've actually got one working but the second one is giving me all sorts of errors. On the attached database, there's a form called frmAddNewRecord. At the top of the form there's a combo box which allows you to select a name and another combo box beside it which acts as a filter so only names from a certain section are shown (working fine).
The subform which is attached to this form and contains the training details, has another combo box which allows you to select a job...I've tried to add a combo box beside this to filter it but I can't get it to work.
I'm trying to set a filter with a command button. I've tried to do it like the examples I've read on numerous sites, but I can't seem to get the filter set. The code that seems most like the examples to me is:
Me.Filter = "[chkPaid] = 0" Me.FilterOn = True
When I run this I get a box telling me to enter a parameter value for chkPaid. chkPaid is definitely the correct name for the checkbox control on the form. I've tried many variations with and without the square brackets, but as long as I have [chkPaid] inside of quotes I get the Enter Parameter box. If I leave the quotes off I get no parameter value request, but it doesn't set the filter either.
I am trying to set a filter on a form with VBA using variables and having no success at all. The code I tried last, which seemed to be "close, but no cigar", was:
sLastSource and sBiller are global variables. When I debug this code the sFilterValue is exactly what I would plug in manually and the Me.Filter shows up as "[Field Name] = Filter Value". But it crashes on Me.Filter = sFilterValue. I have tried all sorts of combinations but nothing I've tried works. What is the proper syntax for using variables as filters?
I am currently working on a Database to automatize some process.
The User can import a CSV (Text) File via a DialogBox, which gets imported into a Table. After this, the content has to be filtered, setting conditions on 4 different rows. The new Table gets exported into a new CSV (It has to be CSV, since it later gets imported into SAP)
How can I set a Filter on a dynamically created Table (using VBA)?
Best case would be to save the filter into my Import spec, but Access doesn't seem to have this option (?)
I have a report which is opened using a DoCmd.OpenReport. There's a criteria string which filters the main report - this works fine.
There's now a requirement to place a summary subform at the beginning of the report, in the report header. I need that summary to use the same criteria string as the main report.
For the main report's OnLoad I put : Me!Expenditure_By_Type_Subreport.Report.Filter = Me.Filter
But I get the error message:
Error 2101. The setting you entered isn't valid for this property.
I tried it the other way round as well - in the OnOpen of the subreport I tried : Me.Filter = Me.Parent.Filter
And it gives the same error.
When I just a manual Filter change such as : Me.Filter = "Project_ID Is Not Null"
I have a report, on a control tab, on a main form.
On the form are two buttons: one to show all items, and one to filter them based on a boolean field called showitem.
The buttons work with the code below.
What I want to do but cannot seem to figure out is to have the report default to no filter.
The bound query has no criteria.
I'm trying to set the filter property via the on open or on load event and even if I isolate the report, cannot seem to reach it.
Code: Private Sub b_hide_items_Click() Me.Profile_Timeline_wNotes_subreport.Report.Filter = "timeline.showItem <> 1" Me.Profile_Timeline_wNotes_subreport.Report.FilterOn = True Me.Profile_Timeline_wNotes_subreport.Requery End Sub
Private Sub b_show_all_Click() Me.Profile_Timeline_wNotes_subreport.Report.Filter = "timeline.showItem = 0" Me.Profile_Timeline_wNotes_subreport.Report.FilterOn = False Me.Profile_Timeline_wNotes_subreport.Requery End Sub
i have a combobox which i want to use on a touch screen using touch buttons in ms access 2010
i set the combobox ime sentence mode to phrase predict, allow autcorrect to yes, row source type to value list and typed some words that i want in the row source eg. "kitchen"
i've set the on click event of my buttons a,b,c,d..... as following Me.Combo56 = Me.Combo56 & "A" for button a and so on.
the problem is that when i press the first letter of the word lets say "k" for the "kitchen" on my onscreen keypad the combo can not predict the word.
I'm still using Access 2003 to manage our membership database, is it possible to lock a field(member's name) if the membership is equal to withdrawal or terminated? Possible to use "on click"?
I now want to update one field (what I type into it is irrelevant) but if this field is updated, it means quite a few others become Not Applicable and I would like that to be populated once I updated this one field. After Update is what I am looking for.I know it is simple (but will mean entering each field name) but it would save me truckloads of time.
I am having some difficulty putting togather a small database (attached).
Basically I want to be able to search for mutiple words and get the results
There are 3 main columns in the main table
1) Shop 2) Part Number 3) Part Type
Problem 1:I have created a lookup table (with check boxes) for ComboBoxes in a form but I do not know how to connect it so that when I click on the comobo box it gives me the all different (Shop numbers/part number/Part types) to select from.
Problem 2:Once I have made my selection I want to search and run query to show me the results. I know that once multiple items are selected in a combo box they are separated by commas/space, so the search must take that in account.
Other nice to have 1) If Shop 1 is selected then only the parts which were sold from shop 1 to appear in the Part number Box & visavera & same goes for Part type.
2) Ability to do a wildcard search so if I Enter "A" in part number I can see all the resealts
A have an OrderDetail form where I add the articles to a specific order. My articles can be ordered with 4 different attributes and one of them cost more than the others. If they want the article that cost more, I would like access to add a new record with some information.
also: 4 different attributes to my articles. (A, B, C, D) if ArticleAttribute = A then Null if ArticleAttribute = B then Null if ArticleAttribute = C then Null if ArticleAttribute = D then add NewRecord with ArticleId = X
I have a few fields that are the same across a couple of forms and sub-forms (each form/sub-form being represented by a different table). I would like for data entry into one field to ensure that the data is autofilled into the other. ie if I type 'ENG' into field 1 on form 1, it will autofill the equivalent field in sub-form 2 as 'ENG' so that I do not have to type the same thing twice. These entries are not unique or in any order as it is variable depending on the entry and so they can't be linked as primary keys and foreign keys. So how would I do this? I would like to avoid VBA is possible.
