I have created a form from a table and only the startup screen when I hit the button I want the form to display a clear entry so that I can create a new contact each time - at the moment when i hit the button it shows the first record and im in danger of changing it (im having to hit the create record button) Help!
After reading many of the posts here, I decided that one of the problems with the tables in the db I was working on was in the primary keys. I had used the same field name as the primary key in all of my tables. This was RecipID, which was a user entered textbox with an example in a label beside it showing the format to use.
After reading stuff here, I decided this wasn't a good idea. So I changed RecipId to be an autonumber in the parent table (Household_Info) and a long integer foreign key in the children. Also, I added some fields to the parent table to identify the head of household (lastname, firstname)
I already had a continuous form made with a subform and a pop-up form associated with it based on my previous tables. Reran the query underlying the form, and the new fields showed up in the field list box for the form. The fields are all still present in design view, but I get a totally blank form in form view. I checked the forms recordsource and made sure that it was set to the new query.
Can anyone give me an idea about what I'm overlooking? Do I have to recreate the form?
(Sorry if this is a repeat of a question someone has already addressed, but I couldn't turn up any relevant threads after several hours of searching.)
I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.
Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?
Hi, i have my form open in design view and it includes quite a few fields on a tab. But when i go to open it in form view, the form is just grey and nothing appears on it. Never seen this before, can anybody help?
I'm a novice Access user and I've been put in charge of changing this. The database is on a shared device. I copied a working frontend (access file) to another machine and used the link table manager tool to find the new database. Now when I open the table view mode I can see the table data, but when I open the form, it doesn't show the data at all and it only lists 1 record. I know this sounds like a really stupid question, but is there one more step or am I in insert mode?
My form was working fine but when I added an extra tab it started showing as completely blank in design view. When I deleted the tab I had added I still was left with the same problem!
I've attached an image of the form properties. I want to use the form to enter data so it needs to show even if there are no records.
I had read that it could be if there is no data but typing data in the tables hasn't worked either.
My title is a little confusing, i have a form with a subform, what I want it to do is this say i have 10 records, 3 of which are missing any data in the subform... then when i show the form it only shows 7 records. This way all records have data in both the main form and the subform... is this possible?
Very suddenly today, when I'd done seemingly nothing, all of the records from my form that I'd built from a blank form disappeared, with the exception of the first record. When I try to just close everything down, nothing changes. When I put in a new record to the form, however, it's saved in the table. But when I save and close, the form goes back to only having the first record! This is very annoying, for easily perceivable reasons. I even tried creating the form from scratch, to see if it's some residual SQL update code acting funny, and nothing changed! It seems to work if I select a table and just create a form, though. It doesn't even work when it's a splitform and whatnot.
I have attached a student database that I created using the student database template in Access and have added additional tables, queries, etc. to fit our needs. One of the issues I'm having is users who are not very computer literate don't always remember if they have entered the right dates for attendance.
I had the idea of creating a "sample" student for each corresponding cycle with 100% attendance so they can compare what they have entered to what they "should" have entered. The reports are based on a query, so I know I can have the sample student show up with the correct information there. However, in the STUDENT DETAILS FORM, there is a pre-made code for the student's names to appear in the drop down and when you forward to the next record.
Can I have that altered to only show the ACTIVE students? This way the termed students would also not be a part of this drop down. I should still be able to go into the table itself and put in the sample student information when I create a new cycle, correct?
I would like my table to show the result of a calculations (or a formula). I surmise that you can not have a column cell calculate data, however if I can do this in the Form View and on a Report - can it just SHOW on the Table so I do not have to keep switching back and forth to see the information.
I am new to Access and think the forum will be a big help to me. Thanks
I have a form with a query as rowsource. When I open the form in data sheet view form header is not showing(Though it is visible in form view). Is it possible to show the form header in datasheet view?
I've recently decided to move a database that had all its information on 1 table and divided it into multiple tables.
Attached is the relationship as well as the form.
The issue I have is that when I click the form, it only shows a blank record with none of previous records.
Data entry is already set to NO. I'm wondering if it's an issue with my relationships, tblStudioDescription is the parent table and the others are child tables so I linked them with the ID and set referential integrity.
When entering information into a blank form, I would like to be able to continue entering information to another additional blank form after my last entry. Is there a way to continue to a blank form after entering information into the previous blank form? I would just like to continue without having to close the entire form and then reopening another form.
Below is the code for my query. The columns are by week. One column is a GrandTotal of all the weeks that are displayed. The other columns are by week and show the total number of problems by week. My issue is as follows. Some weeks there are no problems leaving the column blank. I would like to show 0 if there were no problems for any particular week. Does anyone know how I can accomplish that?
PARAMETERS [Forms]![Queries_ReportsFRM]![StartDateTxt] DateTime, [Forms]![Queries_ReportsFRM]![EndDateTxt] DateTime, [Forms]![Queries_ReportsFRM].[FaultCategory] Text ( 255 ), [Forms]![Queries_ReportsFRM].[SystemGroupProblem] Text ( 255 ); TRANSFORM Sum([Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].Totals) AS SumOfTotals1 SELECT [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].SystemGroup, [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].FaultCategory, [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].Problem, Sum([Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].Totals) AS GrandTotal FROM [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK] GROUP BY [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].SystemGroup, [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].FaultCategory, [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].Problem PIVOT [Trends-1-3TON-WEEK].YearMonthWeek;
Hi guys, I have a query that displays records that fall between 2 dates (using 2 input text fields). How can I make it dispaly all records if the user just leaves the dates blank?
I've searched through some forums and found that I can make this happen by using IS NOT NULL. But when I tried putting it in the OR row in my date field (and all other places), the result is that the query displays all records that have a date value regardless of my other filters.
Can anyone point me in the right direction where I should actually place the IS NOT NULL? I attached my Query view for easier understanding.
I have a report based on a query. Sometimes some of the fields on the report are blank because the information is not available. Is there a way to not show the blank fields on the report and to move the next field up into the space?
I have tried using Is Not Null on the query criteria but if any one field is null it doesn't show any of the others on the report.
I have currently got it so that the height is set to 0 and can shrink = yes and this seems to work but the field is still there (although hidden) - I would rather it was removed completely if it is blank as I am hoping eventually to make the output for each field show on a PowerPoint presentation and I don't want blank slides which I think this solution might do??
I am creating a query which uses 2 unbound text boxes to populate a Between function for 2 date fields. If I fill in the dates, it returns the corresponding data. If I leave them blank, however, it returns no records. Is there an easy way to tweak the query to return all records if left blank?
I decided to link Excel files and all is running fine except when I run a query on the file I get about 1,041 blank rows before my data is displayed in the query's datasheet view or any report based upon this query... the data seems good but why the leading blank rows? The data in the linked Excel sheet does not look like this and another Excel file's query looks fine and they seem set up identically!
I have a PivotTable that I am trying to put together that will give me the following:
Types of Payments - Left Accounts Where Payments came from - Top Amount of Payments - Data
I want it to look like a spreadsheet where it will show me all the Types of Payments even though I don't have any data in there. Almost like an Excel Spreadsheet but I want it in Access. I was able to get the Columns to show up even though I had some blanks but now I need the Rows to show up.
I am trying to find out how to view the field names for variables while in datasheet view in Access. Or, alternatively, I would like to know how to toggle between datasheet and design view for a particular variable. Basically, I have a huge database and I need to be able to find the field name for a variable that I have identified in datasheet view, but right now all I know to do is go into design view and guess which field name it is, click on it, see if the caption matches what I see in datasheet view, and keep doing this until I find the match. I did not create this database which is why I am not familiar enough to know what goes with what.
I have an ordinary table with 20 fields and in the design view the primary field is shown as an auto-number, but it doesn't appear in the datasheet view.
I have a report which gets it's records from a table which has OLE Object data type being a "file.jpg". can I get the image to show in the report print view and also print it with the report?
