I used a macro to record the date and time the current record was modified and show that information on a form - the information on how I did that is here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/a...0345351033.aspx
That works wonderfully, however I would like to add to this the user that modified the record.
Is there a macro code for this??
I tried setting the Item to read [UserModified] and the Expression to be User() however that did not work.
I'm a novice Access user and I've been put in charge of changing this. The database is on a shared device. I copied a working frontend (access file) to another machine and used the link table manager tool to find the new database. Now when I open the table view mode I can see the table data, but when I open the form, it doesn't show the data at all and it only lists 1 record. I know this sounds like a really stupid question, but is there one more step or am I in insert mode?
I have a Form which I have linked correctly to a subform. The Text boxes are showing in the Design view but are not when one switches to the Form View. Labels for Fields are visible in the Form View. Have even created a new subform and that will also not display the Text Boxes.
i am currently developing a database what i need to do is to restrict user to view selected record and change them. i have build a login form in which i have two areas as a user name in combobox and a password text box. i have another form in which i have a combo box named area what i need to do is to limit the area combo based on the selection of the user login form previously. for example if a user select LAS VEGAS in user combo and enters its password after clicking the button login the another form appears in which thier respective stores and sales are saved, their is a combo box named area in which i want to limit it by LAS VEGAS i mean it would only show LAS VEGAS in drop down based on the previous selection in login form.
I have a form which is opened with a filter from another form. For some reason it views the form in form view, although it was set up as datasheet view. I even went to the form properties and the default was datasheet and i made it not to allow other views. This still didnt solve it. I want it to be in datasheet view because i want to show multiple records at the same time.
If u kno how i could resolve this please offer ur help
I modified some reports in my music library database to have the composer first name and last name appear as one field. I'm not sure what is wrong with them, and request another pair of eyes look at them to see if the error(s) can be found. Please bare with me, this is my first post to this forum so I'm not sure if I am following the rules correctly, yet I have posted to the Java area before. I'm not sure what I should include for help, since when I try to include my database in *.zip format, it is saying it is too big to send. Any ideas on what I should send?

The code excutes OK, however the top left corner of the form shows a square based on the forms background grid. See attachment.
How do I get rid of this? When the form opens then there is no such box showing.
In a table I have three fields 1. City - which is a combo box linked to a query, 2. State - a text box, 3. postal Code - a text box
When i put them on a form I use the info selected in the City box to populate the info in the State and Postcal Code boxes.
The Control source for the city is SELECT tblPostcodes.ID, tblPostcodes.Pcode, tblPostcodes.Locality, tblPostcodes.State FROM tblPostcodes;
Then on the form i put the control source of the state box as =City.column(1) and Postal code as =City.column(3)
This works fine on the form- and the information is retained - but the datasheet view of the table does not record either the State or the Postcode data that was entered. Is this because I put the control source on the form and the table is not recognising it? if this is the case how do enter it from the table?? really confused...
I have a mainform. When I click on a command button, it opens up another form. That form is designed to be as a continuous form, yet it does not display the header. The header is present in the form view. I have attached the screenprints to show the header in my form and the corresponding properties window.
I have a table called NewTransactions_tbl that I have been using for some time. I am trying to add a new field called CustomerProjectNumber. It's not being displayed when I look at the table view. I've attached an image showing the settings for the field. I am probably missing something obvious.
My form was working fine but when I added an extra tab it started showing as completely blank in design view. When I deleted the tab I had added I still was left with the same problem!

I had read that it could be if there is no data but typing data in the tables hasn't worked either.
I got a form called "Make quote". In this form a user can select a product from a line of fields. This "line" contains: article code, product, price and quantity the customer requests.
Each single quote can contain a very different amount of products. Some quotes just have 1 product, other quotes have 25 products.
I'm looking for a way to let the user add as many "lines" as necessary for the quote. BUT I don't want him to need to go into design view.
I'm thinking of maybe adding a button to the form which does this, but I'm not sure how.
I am new to access and I recently encountered a double click issue
My form loads perfectly on double click event but it shows the first record instead of selected record.
My search is based on a PersonID but each PersonID has different WorkID that I wish to display on double click but it always shows the first WorkID instead of my selected record
I have tried changing the filters in the form properties but it still doesn't work for me.

I need to able to quickly find which the last records that have been modified. I have an invisible field "txtModified" on the main form and selecting when changes where made to the record on the main form is easy using a qry on that field. The problem I face is that the form with all details of a particular item contains 2 subforms. Changes to data on each of these subforms doesn't effect the time/date on the main form. However, each of the subforms is also time stamped upon change.The qry to select the last records changed therefore needs to look at 3 fields and select records with the latest date in any of the 3 "Modified" fields. How do I do that? I suppose I'll have to put an expression in the qry?Thanks for your advice.Walter
In my access database I am using a form and at times a record may need to be updated multiple times. Is there a way to track and count how many times a record has been modified? I already track the last modified date and time.I searched and was not able to locate what I am trying to do, and maybe my search term was not exactly correct.
I have a subform that is filtered by a textbox on the main form. Is there any way I can add a timestamp to a record on the subform when a user changes anything on that record?
I've tried the Macro that is listed on Microsoft's website regarding timestamps, but I had serious issues implementing that to a subform.
How do I set up a field so that when the record has been modified, the field is automatically filled in (or replaced) with a date? In other words if I open up my member's detail form, and go to Sally Smith and edit her information on 11 July 15, that date is saved into a field called last modified and then updated every time I go into her file and edit & save it.
I have a main form that displays records with a couple of sub forms and it also has a button to open another form which is based on the same table main table but different sub forms.
All I am trying to do is open the second main form by clicking the command button and to automatically display the same main record as shown on the first form before clicking the button.
I have another question about ACCESS forms. With VBA, I want to change the record showing when I open a form. I see there is a member "CurrentRecord" so I tried in the class module
Me.CurrentRecord = 2
I compiles but gives runtime error that is write-protected and cannot be changed. In the ACCESS help I read you could do it but HOW?
What should I do ( I am using ACCESS 97 ) ?!

Is it possible to open a form so that it shows the new record fields only? I want to create a form that only allows the user to enter data and not view any of the records in the table the form is linked to.
I am currently working on a database and I'm using a form to view the records. A standard Access behavior is to show an empty record (new record) as the last one. is there a way to disable this "feature". I would like my form to display only the records, which are really filled with data and not show the blank one at the end??
I have a database which has one main form linked to a table which has 325 records in it. The problem is when you open the form it says there are only 324 records :confused: I have gone through the table comparing the records with the form records, I found what I thought was the 'missing' record. But when I did a find on the form I managed to retrieve the record. Can anyone help as I'm a bit baffled.
i want to open a report but only showing the result of one record in a sub form,
i have a field that is on all rows of the subform,[click to run] and what i want the user to be able to do is double click on this field and it will open the report with only the record information for that row displayed.
I applied conditional formatting to a subform in a form and it works fine. The screen dispaly is showing the highlights but the print privew does not. It does not matter which printer I select.
I am trying to open a form in design mode and add controls, this i have done. I am doing this all in a class, and am having trouble saving the modified form.
