Is there a way to make the shutter bar be closed on database open?
I already have an autoexec macro to take people to a main menu, but would like to ensure the shutter bar is closed for aesthetics and to keep people away from clicking on something.

Is there any way to make a form open up when every thing else is closed.
Can I make a macro that will check if everything else is closed and then open the startup form again?
Is anything like this possible?

I have built a database and setup my Queeries and Reports and setup my securities. What I want to do is make the Form open from a short cut. I can create the short cut with the security privilages but after the proper name and password is entered I want it to open straight into the Form. How do I get my database to do this?

The opened date field is controlled by a textbox elsewhere on the form, but the date closed is controlled by the vbCalendar control. What I am trying to do in coding is to evaluate whether or not the closed date is before the open date. If the date closed is before the date open I would like a message box to open that prevents the user from moving forward and reminding them that the date closed is earlier than the date open. Is it possible with the vbCalendar option being able to change its focus continually.

The database window opens and THEN the Switchboard opens (on top of the database window). There are some who I wish not to see the database navigation window). Also, is it possible to OPEN the switchboard again when a Form is closed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI linked table rawdata from a database called competitor from a ODBC Database. I run a query with to make a table with a criteria where it retrieves roughly 10 columns with 719,000 rows. And it gives me this error.
(Cannot open database". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
I asked the creator of the database and they said the database grows automatically and it was created with the same Access version as i am using to run the query.
Also when I do a RUN without creating a table and just selecting and displaying the data it does not give me any issues.

I'm working on a small database for a small team of support workers with a
client base of 60 clients at anyone time, although the turnover is quite
substantial.
I have done some searches on archiving records but am concerned that once
archived a record would be difficult to re-integrate in to the live database,
particularly if there have been changes to it?
I have considered that I may be just as well slapping a big label over every
record that has a date in the [CloseDate] field and if a closed case is
re-opened, the closed date is removed and the label disappears.
I'm still open to being convinced that the archiving is the way to go, but
in the mean time I hope someone will be able to help with the expression
needed in the form on_current procedure to make the label visible. If it was
just a tick box I'd be flying by now, but I can't get my head around getting
a populated [CloseDate] field to initiate the CloseRecordLabel.

I have a database and I need it so once the database file is launched the Database window & tool bars are hidden so people cannot see them. Along with that once the operator clicks on "Exit" on the main menu I would want it to close the database but display all of the Windows / Tool Bars again.

The next thing is once I click the X or the button to close the form I want Microsoft Access to appear again as in everything to show itself again.
Can I make the default value of a field be something in another field in another table. I tried to enter into the default value the following but, it does not find the field.
[tablename].[fieldname] I also tried it [fieldname].[tablename].
Is there a way to make only part of the text in Default Value to be Bold or Italics? That would be cool so I dont half to make boxes throughout my paragraph for only bold text! :cool:

I've tried turning off 'Allow additions' for the form, but that turns off the 'New Record' button, so that's not right Perhaps it's me but the default way in which the navigation buttons work is strange. I would have thought the next button would only go next and wouldn't do new.
I'm having trouble with a Form and getting a text box entry box (Date entry) default to the date entered on the last record, which is linked to a table.
The only way I can get it to work is to type the date into the Text Box's Default property, for example, #11/13/13".
How to get the correct syntax or code into the Default property of the Text Box to make this work? I only want the entry to change versus the previous record/entry if the User changes / enters a new date.
I think my issue is that when the user opens my form a record gets created. Thus default value will not work. what happens is; the user fills out form 1 goes to form 2 and on form 2 i want a check box default value to be true...but its always false.
the checkbox in question is adequite staff. the user gets the question, "was there adequate staff" if there was the "adequate staff box" would be true. what i have tried is i created a "dummy" checkbox (checkbox299) entitle no. and labled adequite staff checkbox as yes. on the form2 open insert the following

I like to open a report as a pivot chart from my query. How to open a report by making the default view of report as pivot chart?.
I am able to manually create a pivot chart by clicking pivot chart view from the sql view in a report. Then I pull in the required columns to the x axis and y axis and a graph is generated. I do not know how to save it and open the report by default in pivot chart view every time I click a button.
With XP photo linked in Access would open from Access in my default photo viewer. With Win 7 they only open in EI.
How do I fix Access in Win 7 so the links open in my default photo viewer like they did in XP?

i have a control on the form that opens.. and i am simply trying to assign a default value to that control..
it is a textbox.. for my jobtype field (text datatype)..
is there any particular reason why i cannot assign a default value to a control if it has been placed on a form that has been opened using a form filter?

I have a Front End Database and a Back End Database.
Certain tables in the BE are linked to the FE.
Once or twice a day I need to run Make Table Queries in the FE, but I am unable to do so if someone else has the BE open.

Is there any setting that I can use that will make a form always open to a new entry?
I don't want people to be able to edit the form.
On the form I have created a New form button and a Save and clear button, but i would prefer it to be that when they open the form its always a new entry and when they hit save it just save and clears and comes back to a new entry form.

i've been working on a sample database today that someone has written some vb code into, which enables the database to merge with some dialler software. basically it's just a hang up and dial button on a form for surveying people.
i've done ok extracting the code for the dial and hangup buttons, referencing the external file and getting my test database to interface with the dialler but it currently allows multiple users to edit the same record, which i need to stop it doing.
the guy that's done the coding says he's more of a vb programmer and not much use in access (he's definitely better than me!) but i should be able to insert some code that will skip to the next record if the record is being worked on with someone else.
i think the piece of code that i need is
Forms("Form1").RecordLocks = 2
the only problem is i don't know what else to type with it or where in the code to insert it.

I'm building a make-table query for which if the result is null (no record correspond to the set of criterias), a default message like "there was no activity during the period" would appear in the table (not a message box...I need the message in the output table). The best I could think of is an IIF function but it doesn't seem to work... Is there any way to do this without using VBA?

I have tried to change the default database with the tools options general tab. I type in the change and it sticks as long as I do not get out of Access. However, once I do get out it goes back to the old default selection. How can I make this stick??
