Access Report Header And Sorting
Aug 18, 2015I am working on a access report for financial analysis.I created a form with a drop down list to select cost center from tables, so the report will only show the data from the selected cost center. My questions are:
1. I want the chosen cost center automatically shown at the Header of the report, as selected from the form;
2. The data was grouped in a particular sequence, such as: Revenue, Compensation, MM&S and Other Expense, not simply ascending or descending
3. There are some category data I do not want to show, for example, other expense, how can I hide it?

I basically want it not to cascade but do the exact same thing as it does inside its own header. (We need to dramatically cut down the page amount as a delivery schedule is printed out daily and could do with the page count around 10 rather than 50 ).

Ordering/Sorting Data In Form

I have a simple 2-table database. the 'parent' table is tblProducts, and the 'child' table is tblDocuments. (one [products] to many [docouments] relationship)
My data entry is done using a 'documents' subform inside a 'products' parent form. The data entry works fine, except i would really like it if my products and documents would be listed in alphabetical order in their respective form/subform {makes it easier on the user, and saves me needing a find record button}. At the moment they seem to be ordered by the time in which they were added to the table. I guess Access is using the primary Key as the 'order by' parameter.
The thing that is infuriating me is that i have gone into my two tables and told access to sort the data by Product Name, and Document name in the respective tables. I can verify that this has worked by going to data view; lo and behold the data are listed in the order i specified.
Further I have gone into my form and sub form properties, into the Data...Order By property and have keyed in the name of the field i want to sort by (product name in the parent form, and document name in the sub form).
I have tried all combinations and permutations of the above processes but nothing seems to work.
It seems i am missing one crucial piece to the puzzle, as i haven't had much luck finding a solution on groups.google or anything else (maybe im using the wrong search terms). I am having this problem with all of my databases, so any help would be appreciated.

Sorting Form By Filtered Data
Mar 14, 2006I have a button that opens a second form and shows filtered data based on the selection of a ComboBox from the initial form. That all works nicely, I now wish to sort the Data in the new form by [POID].
The code I'm using looks like this;

Sorting A Table, Apply The Sorting To A Form

I've created a database which contains information about stores. I want to have the forms automaticly sorted by the department number.
I've tried to sort the table by department, but when I try to add a department, the sorting doesn't seem to affect the form at all.
Lets say I have department 1,2,3,6,7,8 in the form, and I add department 4, it will be the last post in the form. I want it to be the fourth, and so on..

Select Data From Double Clicking
Dec 29, 2006Hi all, I have a query to recall all the events related to a certain employee by running a query and inserting the staff number, I then have a form showing the details of all employees; what I need is to add a button on the form that runs the mentioned query without having to insert the staff number again as the form is already showing that employee.

Sep 19, 2007I am new to access and all of this and trying to create a database to record livestock (budgerigars) I have put in the reletive informnation for 2 generations but would like to beable to click on a record in forms view and for the grandparents to be automatically inserted. Something like a family tree.
Also I would like to be able to double click on a entry which shows as a parent in a form view, and for the database to go directly to that entry and bring it up onto the form.
I hope someone can help and that I'm making so sense
(anyone know a good book that would help me understand all of this)

Nov 25, 2014I have a Mainform [FrmReconcileMain] and it contains a Subform [FrmReconcilesub]
What I'm trying to is, on the Main form type in a statement date in textbox [TxtStatementDate].
I have a checkbox on my subform [ReconciledYN], along with a textbox [TxtReconcileDateSub]. when I click the checkbox, it simply pulls the date from the mainform and populates the date in the subform.
I've even tried experimenting on a simple form (with no subform) to see whats going on, but still I can't get it to work, even on a simple event such as this...

Form Scrolls Down When Clicking From Tab To Tab

I have a form that has several tabs and in one of the tabs, the subform is very long. When I click from tab to tab, the main form scrolls down and the list of tabs disappears. So, when I am done with entering the subform, I have to scroll up the page to see the tabs in order to click on the next tab. I am hoping if someone has an idea how to stop the main form from scroll down each time I click on a tab.
Copying Data Without The Header Row

Does anybody know a away of copying access data into other applications without the header row. An example being if you copy access data into excel it includes the header row in the spreadsheet. I often have to copy access data into industrial application software but usually paste into excel first (to get rid of the header rows) then from excel into the application. I would like to eliminate this step if I could but not sure how to copy without the header row.

Hide Fields In Main Form By Clicking Sub Form
Apr 11, 2005I have one main form with 3 tabulated sub forms.
My main form consists of two fields.
When the user clicks tab 2 (subform 2) or tab 3 (subform 3) the main fields should hide
I tried to achieve this by using the on click event at the tabbed forms. I referenced the two main fields and used the visible property followed by a form requery. It didn't work.

I am having a problem in my one form where I have to click on the "go to next record arrow" twice before it displays the next record. (even on the "create new record" it requires 2 clicks)
All other forms I have display the next record for only a single click on the arrow.
Is there something unique in the properties of the form in question that needs to be changed so that a single click displays the next record?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nov 4, 2014I use a Frm1 which updates my Tbl1. By clicking on this Bt1 of the Frm1 the record is duplicated on purpose having enabled and disabled fields. While Frm1 shows the duplicated record (so it is open) I can change it and save it as needed. However the Frm1 loads having an enabled Cbo1 which normally allows the regular user to pick any value A,B,C or D.
What I would like to have is a line code under the Bt1 click event able to set the value "D" on the duplicated record only. I can not write it under the load form event because I need value "D" set on the combo only when I click the Bt1. Regular user still should be able to select between A,B,C or D when he loads the Frm1 to input a new record.
I tried Me.cbo1="D", also tried Me.cbo1.column(1)="D" under the Bt1 click event and both of them failed. What have I done wrong? How can I get it done?
Forms :: Main Form Locked After Clicking On Subform?
Dec 25, 2013I have a Main Form which is essentially the based on my child table called tblTaskHistory. The Main Form has a subForm which is based on the parent table called tblTasks. I am using SQL queries to feed the combo box recordsource that is located on the Main Form. The After Update for the combo box populates the subForm which allows the users to look at details of a task before he/she "accepts" it. The problem is that when he/she clicks on the subForm to view the details of the task the Main Form locks up. The user, after interacting with the subForm, cannot make an edit on Main Form now. The user has to close the Main Form and then reopen it to perform the "accept" action. The form works absolutely as intended - that is if the user doesn't click on the subForm - however once he/she clicks on the subForm the Main Form locks up.

Apr 1, 2014I have a program that has a "GC" Button that I click on which takes me to a General Contractor Form. It works perfectly unless the Firm has an apostrophe in it's name. For example "D'Agostino". (refer to attached DAgostino1.jpg). When I click on the GC button, I get the attached Syntax error, (Syntax on DAgostiono.jpg).
The third attachment (GC Firm Button Code.jpg) shows the VBC for this button.

Dec 11, 2013I'm currently building a database in Access 2013. I've used Access many years ago, and not really in anger since maybe 2003, so I've been re-learning quite a lot. Here's an overview of my scenario, and issue:
The main purpose of my database is to allow engineers to log various bits of information when building, servicing and testing manufactured products for offshore exploration. Because some of the engineering team aren't so great with data entry etc, I've decided that, rather than deleting data, I'm going to use a 'deleted' flag: user clicks what he considers to be a delete button, but in reality an update query will simply update the flag and, because the form is built on a query which includes a 'where deleted = 0' filter, it'll no longer be shown. This will allow us more control over the data and will also allow me to check that everything is running okay.
My main forms include a number of subforms, including one which includes a second tier of nested form: Pin Maps for (electrical) Connectors.
What I need to achieve is fairly straightforward: as the user navigates around the form, I'd like a 'delete' button which is specific to that subform to become visible and for any other 'delete' buttons to become hidden. Once tested, the buttons would be 'stacked' in the same position at the top of the main form, so the user just thinks they're deleting the relevant record in the sub, or main, form.

I need to assign various codes to specific lines...
for example i may need to assign A101 to lines A,B & C but not line D
i was thinking i should make a third table and link the 3 together...should i do this..?
also i think that this could be a huge task as i have over 25 machines and over 700 codes the combinations are huge, what is the best way for me to overcome this problem ?

Oct 31, 2014I am working on a web database with a form which is bound to an underlying web table where the submissions occur.My challenge is that the fields on the form get submitted to the table even before the submit button is clicked regardless of whether the form was completely filled.
My request is that I want the form to only submit to the submission table only when the submit button is clicked.When I searched on the net, the only solutions I got are VBA written code but my web database cannot use VBA code.
