Spell Check Provides A Gateway To Access Options Settings?
Apr 10, 2008
Hi everyone and many thanks in advance.
I have configured my Access 2007 DB/app to hide the default ribbons and Options settings so that end-users cannot change the config or perform tasks that would jeopardize the integrity of the data. One of the other requirements on this project is to allow the end-user to launch the Spell Check feature.
It was simple enough to launch Spell Check from a button on a form. The problem lies in that the Spell Check feature has an "Options" button that serves as a point of entry to the Access Options that I'm trying to prevent the user from seeing.
Can anyone tell me how to hide or disable the Options button in Spell Check? I fear that this is not possible and I will have to choose between Spell Check and ensuring data integrity.
I have a Access 2010 database running in runtime. What options do I have for spell check? I can bind to a 2010 Word spell check (if it is installed), but could I do a late bind to utilise any other office spell check? Tried to use a .net spell checker dll and get access to call out the text and get returned the errors? Not sure what options I have really...
Hi I have sendkey "{f7}" on loss focus. this works great as a spell check but then I get the mesage box that spell check is complete. How do I stop this box from occuring?
When distributing a program using 2010 runtime, I find that the spell check doesn't work. Is there a spell-check .dll or is there anyway I can get a spell checker?I have several memo fields with long report-type data entry which is being keyed by mutants. Spell checking is essential to get an intelligible report.
We need to enter the string INCL as a data value in one of our tables. When we try to exit the field, Access keeps changing it to INCLUDE. This occurs whether the value is entered via a form or directly in the table. I assume it is doing some type of autocorrect based on th spelling. There is no VBA code associated with this field.
How do you make the spell checker not cycle through all your records when you run it? As it is right now, when a user tries to spell check their entry into the summary block of my form it automatically starts with the first record in the database and goes from there.
I have a subform in datasheet view. I would like to put a button on the mainfor that checks all the subform records for spelling mistakes. Is this possible?
I am trying to make a checkbox with different graphics since the checkbox can not be resized. I thought I could stack images on top of each other and toggle between showing and hiding based on if the checkbox was checked. This actually works, but I wanted to hide my checkbox, so I hid it behind my images. This didn't work. So I brought it to the front and made it invisible. This didn't work either. What can I do? The checkbox is linked to the table, but I want the graphics to show thumbs up or down and not see the checkbox.
I'm new to my job and ms access and not very savvy in the latter. There are fixes for my problem on the internet, but I really don't understand them.
I'm used to dd-mm-yyyy format and it's tough for me to think in mm-dd-yyyy in, for example, MS outlook. If I change my regional settings, of course, outlook and access follow suit. The access database is shared and we print out records as cover sheets for our files. Thus, it's not an option to have me on dd-mm and others on mm-dd. Is there a way for me to enter mm-dd in when using the database but have dd-mm standard for every other aspect?
If you can help, which I would appreciate immensely, please pretend that I don't know what I'm doing.
But they do not work, there are still messages when deleting a record from an endless form by pressing "delete". I don't want to add a button. Docmd. Setwarning false in every form!
Thought I best ask this question BEFORE I run into trouble.
If I were to set my database to hide the database window and all menus on startup so that users can only do what I want them to do and not edit anything. How do I go about reversing this if I needed to edit something as I would not be able to see any of the regular menus?
It would be good if the solution involved some sort of admin password rather than a sneaky short cut that a user may accidently stumble across.
I have a table in access database which contains a text field 'EDate' that stores Date value in format (12-Apr-2013). Now I want to run a sql query on that field. User will give an input date. The sql query needs to fetch me all the records from access database whose Edate is less than or equal to the user input date.
I am using DateValue function to convert my text filed Edate into date. My query is something like this:
select * from table_name where DateValue(EDate)<='user_input_date'
I am able to perform above task if the system language settings are 'English'. But if system language settings are different say Turkish, then the query fails.
I searched a lot on web and found that DateTime function compares test data with the system date time format and gives the result. Thus it fails with different language settings.
I was doing a project for school where I had to make a text field that would only accept the options Client Type(RET - Retail, SER - Service, DIN - Dining)
I thought I did it right by having a line with the field name as "Client Type" and the input as "text" with a field size of "3". and the description I put was "Client Type(RET - Retail, SER - Service, DIN - Dining)". But it doesnt work. I saved and everything. It will let me enter anything I want as long as it doesnt exceed 3 chars. I want it to ONLY accept RET, SER, or DIN and I want it to format it so its in CAPS.
My end goal is to display an image for every row on a report and/or form.I reviewed the various options for that, and finally decided the best thing to do would be to put the images in a separate folder in my PC, and put the path for the image in a column in the main(primary) table. In my form or report, I put an Image Frame, and put the ImagePath column in the Control Source. All is well and good.
However, I realize the inherent problem with having the full path in every single row, since I could move the image folder and I'd be hosed. So, I created an Environment Variables table, and I have a column called ImageFolder. Then I changed the name of the column in the primary table to ImageName instead of ImagePath. My hope was to be able to concatenate ImagePath and ImageName as the Control Source on the form and report.
I couldn't figure out a way to do that, since they are in two different tables, with no direct relationship between the tables. For the report, I created a workaround by creating a query of all the fields, including a field which concatenated the path and the ImageName. But since I use the form/ sub form to update the records, that wouldn't work for the form. My next attempt was to try to add an ImagePath back again to the primary record, but to have it default to the value that's in the EnvironmentalVariables table.
Is there any way to restore menus/editibility when they have been removed using ACCESS OPTIONS > CURRENT DATABASE then uncheck 'allow full menus'? Database was created in Access 2007. I always keep a back up of the pre-menu-disable state of my databases, but this is someone elses for which I can't find a backup.
I have reinstalled Access 2010 due to a computer malfunction. I had customized my Dictionary with about 2000 abbreviations for medical specific words: gast for Gastroenterology for instance. Saves tons of typing. I have never been able to save my dictionary just in case something like this happens. And, It's happened before. I may have saved(unsure) once, but it was years ago on Access XP-2003, somewhere in that time frame and was never able to find it if I did. So I am reentering all these words again. It would sure be nice to be able to add them by Anything! but going File/Options/ Proofing/ Auto Correct Options and then entering my shortcuts. that's 4 steps each time. It would seem to me that if you can add the Auto-Correct icon in Word to the Word ribbon, Access should be able to do this. There is no icon i can find in Customize Ribbons/ All Commands. My Word Dictionary does not -never has- synced with Access' Dictionary.
I currently write (very long) reports for work, which have a lot of standard text in them - but the standard text varies according to the client's history.
I want to create a report-writing application for myself, composed of series of yes/no/maybe buttons and depending on whether I click yes/no/maybe in each section, a different segment of text is inserted into the report.
Ideally the application would be able to insert, or create, formatted text - such as headings, bullet point lists etc - I would need to be able to export this report into Word
I started out by making a table, with each section being a different field, and the various paragraph options as different cells in the field, but I am stuck at present on the basic functionality of "click button , insert text"...
I'm in need a of a check-in/check-out application for my company. We have about 550-600 employees at any given time and our turnover is about 20-30% per year. Our check-in/check-out process requires our employees to personally visit between 30-40 areas in our company (personnel, safety, credentials, parking, insurance, etc) within the first month of employment. This is currently done manually and is a huge drain on labor, especially when check-in sheets are lost, misplaced or, in some cases, forged.
I'm looking to build a database that would be intranet based, password secure (by check-in area) that would allow the new employee to present at a particular check-in, check-out site, complete that portion of the check-in/out process and then allow the person responsible for the check-in/out to enter the status into the database. At any point in the process, I would want to know the status of the person checking in/out (how long they've been checking in/out and what portion of the process have they completed).
Hi firstly I want to say I am not a programmer or anything like that, I know enough about Access to get me by with simple things but after that i get a little stuck so please dont baffle me with loads of technical coding terms :D
Ok..I have a database with a form where the users enter a subject and description. I have a spell checker running on these 2 fields which works fine up to a certain point. If the users goes in, adds a new record, tabs off the field, the spell checker runs, etc then it works fine. If the user then creates a new record and it picks up a spelling mistake in the new record it jumps back to the previous record that was created and spell checks that again.
If you close the form and open it again before creating the second record it is fine. Could anyone possible shed any light on the situation? Below is the code that I am using (found it on the internet somewhere)
Private Sub Description_AfterUpdate() 'If the textbox contains data run the 'Spell Checker after data is entered. If Len(Me!Description & "") > 0 Then DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSpelling Else Exit Sub End If
End Sub
Private Sub Description_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
End Sub
Private Sub Subject_AfterUpdate() 'If the textbox contains data run the 'Spell Checker after data is entered. If Len(Me!Subject & "") > 0 Then DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSpelling Else Exit Sub End If End Sub
