Hi all,
I have a form that i use for data input, I have limited all of the menu's how ever the print option is still available. This leads to muppet users printing out the form and using it.
There is a print button on the form that prints a report out that lays out the form into a useable item.
So the question is... How can I stop people being able to print out the form?
I have created a from containing names and address. On This form I have a checkbox called "MailLetter" and a command button called "Sendletter".
I place a check in the box corresponding to specific people, then using a command button a letter is printed to ONLY THOSE WHO ARE CHECKED.
The letter is a Word document that resides on the desktop.
Here is the code behind a command button to print. Not sure if it is correct:
Private Sub Command2600_Click() Dim WordObj Set WordObj = CreateObject("Word.Application") WordObj.Visible = True WordObj.documents.Open "C:Documents and SettingsUserDesktopLetter.doc" End Sub
I assume this can be done through some sort of mail merge?
I am building a database for running a shoot. I want to be able to add Firers, Beaters and Picker Ups to each day. All of those people are held in a [Contacts] form and have a checkbox to designate them as Shooters, Beaters or Picker Ups or a combination of them
I have a form where I can create the shoot date and timings etc. Now I want to add people to the form.
My idea is to have a seperate form with a list of all the Shoot Dates, on the same form will be three more lists showing Shoot Date and ID, List of all Guns, List of All Beaters, List of all Picker Ups in the Database.
You would then select the shoot date from the first list which would highlight, then go each of the other three lists and select a checkbox next to each person that you wanted to attend that day.
I know what I want to do but dont know how to do it!
How important is it to add people's names into a database using two fields ?..ie: [FirstName] and [LastName]. Would it be ok to put their full name into one field if you also had a unique Identity Number for each person in the same table ?
I have an access form that displays some data about customers and their booking for flight. so lets say if there is a group of five people that made a booking for a certain flight, i have to assign ticket numbers to them and store it in some table.
Now i can display the number of people in a group for a certain flight in a subform, i want to have another textbox in front of their names so i can type in the ticket numbers. So i went to design view and added another textbox, but the problem is if the subform in displaying 5 rows (for 5 customers) when i type in a ticket number for one customer, all the following rows gets and displays the same ticket number. How can i type something and let it not be repeated infollowing rows.
I have a form I need to sort based on criteria in a persons record. We sell certain products. And we need the ability to only show the people who have a product. For example, we sell EPLI and WCF. I want to be able to pick a drop down list and it only shows and goes through the EPLI people. How do you do this?
I attached my database can you take a look on how to do this?
I need to enter workload counts for 10 people, and it is done on a monthly basis. So I have a table of Months (Jan-Dec), a table of names, and a joined table with the months, names and a field for the workload counts.
I would like to make a form where I could select the month and all the names show up so I could go and enter the counts for everyone at the same time. I've attached a diagram to show what it would look like
I need to create a simple database where I have a list of people, a list of groups and all I want to do is select which people belong to specific groups.
All I need is to create a form where I have a list of my people and a tick box next to the groups to show who belongs to which group.
I have created a form based on a query that prompts the user to enter a persons name. Once entered, the persons data appears on the form and some other related data appears in a subform. However, I have found a problem that occurs when a name is entered that doesnt exist on the database... the form opens completely blank!! even text and graphics disappear!
Everytime I change the picture of an image, a duplicate is made. I can see this in the "Insert Image" menu. It this moment, I have over 6000 duplicates which slow my form down alot. I know that you can delete these duplicates by accessing the system tables, but is there a way to stop this automatic duplication? An example is a button that makes an arrow change direction. Every time you click the button, a duplicate of the picture gets saved.
I have a database that lists all the books I have read. The Table "Books" holds "AuthorId' "Title" etc. I have another table that is called "Whats Next To Read" which I store the next book that I will read from that author. It also uses "AuthorId" and "Title" etc. In the form, how can I look to see if the title put in for that author in "Whats Next" does not have the same title already in "Books" table. I can use Dcount to find the title but it could be same title different author. I need same title with same author.
This is what I have so far.
If DCount("Title", "Books", "Title = '" & forms!Whatsnexttoread!Title & "' > 0 Then Msgbox "Title is already in books.", vbInformation End If
I have created some control buttons using the built in functions of Access2007 and then using the script supplied here modified the control.
So far the controls can add new record, save record, exit form, open next form and close existing form, open previous form and close existing form.
My next question is when the user reaches the end of the form fields how do I stop the form from automatically starting a new record?
For example, I use the TAB key to move from field to field and when I tab out of the last field the form goes straight to the next empty record.
I want this to be a deliberate action performed by clicking the Add New Record button and not an accident of a key press.
The other thing is, how do I get the form to open with blank/empty fields and not at the first populated record? Some of the data is updated frequently so the records need to be able to be edited but I need to prevent accidental editing of the existing records.
I am using Access 2013. I have a form with 2 subforms, each time the form is opened, the first record on both subforms are selected. Is there a way to turn off the record selector so no records are selected when the form opens?
I created a command button from using the wizard so when I click to delete the record the button is for, a window pops up asking if I am sure I want to delete the record. Is there a way to not have the button pop up?
Here is the code:
Private Sub cmdCompleted_Click() On Error GoTo Err_cmdCompleted_Click DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSelectRecord DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdDeleteRecord
I have an order form that auto-populates details from the customer table into adderss and contact controls. But I don't want it to auto-populate when the underlying order table already has data in the related fields. Here is the code I use on Load form event...
====== Private Sub Form_Load() 'Use this version if the ID is a number Dim x As Variant Dim strControl As String Dim lngID As Long 'If parameters exist, use them If Len(Me.OpenArgs) > 0 Then
I have some code (see below) that checks if the start date text box is blank or greater than the end date, and if so, generates a message box and sets the focus back to the start date textbox. There are command buttons on the form that open queries based on the date fields. This all works fine.
However, if the user changes his mind and closes the form without filling in the date field, the message box "Please enter a start date" pops up repeatedly. How do I specify that a text box is required UNLESS the user is closing the form?
Code: Private Sub txt_startdate_LostFocus() If ((IsNull(txt_startdate) Or (txt_startdate) = " ")) Then MsgBox "Please enter a start date.", vbOKOnly
I am building a student register for a school for disabled children. There is a screen listing all students, one showing detailed student data chosen by #=IIf(IsNull([ID]),"(New)","Open")# clicking on "Open", one listing all the guardians, choosing a guardian by #=IIf(IsNull([ID]),"(New)","Open")# clicking on "Open", to diaplay Guardian details.
From the student list, I select and view student details, including a pointer to their guardian details. After selecting the first student details, and then viewing their guardian data, any subsequent student details and guardian details updates the prior guardian data with the next guardian's data.
How can I prevent the successive guardian details from updating the prior guardian table when it is exited? I view the guardian details using ADO recordsets populating a form. When I exit, it updates the previous record.
I have a form in which user will enter few values but I need users to enter the comment in relevant text box too only if they have any non zero value.
I have attached an example for reference....where red encircled portion is for values and blue is for relevant comments. If value is non zero then user should be enforced to enter the comment too......system should not allow user to move forward or backward until there is some comment.
How do you prevent access from adding a new record when u input data in the current record or tab to the next field? My database is set up to open with a form where the user picks his name and then a week ending date once that is complete u open a new form where the name and date auto populate along with other fields to fill out such as job charge, charge type , times charged for each day of the week. But I don't want access to create a new record everytime the person inputs or tabs..... .
I was having trouble just setting each report with a particular print method - for some reason they just kept forgetting their individual settings and resorting to default on the machine.
This meant reports were printing on the wrong paper, or the wrong size paper, the wrong orientation and some times refusing to print if it couldn't find the paper (which is useful in runtime as it doesn't display error messages)
So I used Reports(rpt).printer properties (I forgot where I found this) to hard code the printer properties into each print command... this meant I had to use another function to insert the variables.
So all I had to do was say:
Code: PrintMe("Invoice","InvoiceID",iID)
and a report would print to exactly how I wanted... but it's just too slow!
See attached for full code, I have a niggling feeling it may be the function: PrinterOK, to make sure the printer exists or not.
Code: Function PrinterOK(sPrinterName As String) As Boolean Dim MyPrinter As Printer PrinterOK = False For Each MyPrinter In Printers If MyPrinter.DeviceName = sPrinterName Then PrinterOK = True Exit Function End If Next End Function
I know it's the printing code, because if I stop the printing and just preview then it shows up almost instantly.
Not sure if this one is possible but here goes........
I have Acrobat Distiller 5.0 installed. Having set the default printer to this I can now print single forms (Screen dumps)straight to PDF using the command.
DoCmd.PrintOut me.currentview
What I would like to do, is on a click of a button, instead of just sending the one form to PDF which results in one PDF document, I would like to send several at once, resulting in still one PDF document but this time for it to contain all the screen dumps one after the other. (Each from a seperate form)
I'll explian why I'm trying this incase someone can think of an alternative. I have a Tabbed Form (Contains a dozen tabs) of which each tab contains a number of sub forms. Each subform is a query which produces a large amount of performance data from a main table.
I need to be able to present this data as a single report in written format.
As far as I'm aware, a report is not possible due to the number of queries / subforms being used (Unless someone can tell me how to pull the data from several continuous forms tied to different queries over to a report)
I tried using a single form containing all the data to print over to PDF but ran out of room before I hit for sixth tab.
Ideally, what I would like to do is send each of the tabs to a single PDF document. Failing that, I can set up a number of single forms and send them instead.
Any suggestions, either with the PDF or an alternative way
I am trying to print one record displayed in a form. I also need to print one record in another form at different times. I have one form working fine. It prints out the displayed record in my report just fine by clicking the Print_report button.
I copied the report and renamed it. in this form the print button is named Print_Requested. When I open this form and click the Print_Requested button, it prints out everything except for the data.
Edit: The reason I made a duplicate report is because it was doing the same thing when I tried to print the same report from different forms. One report is all I need, but I need to be able to print it from different forms.
Here is my code: -----------------------------
Private Sub Print_report_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Print_report_Click
