Anytime i open the database and my startup form is automatically loaded, the properties box gets loaded too :mad:! which after a while can be slightly annoying. How do i stop this? Any suggestions?

I've searched MSFT, this forum and Googled it with no success. My first post, I hope this is correct section.
Sometime in past few days Access Documenter will only display object name regardless of what properties are selected in the Options menu. Selections always default to back to "Nothing" after trying viewing. It is not related to any specific.MDB file. Have tried with more than 12.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Access and Office. Did not correct the problem.
When using Documenter (located on another computer on the network) for the same database(s) it works fine. So it is machine specific. Running XP with all current updates and Office 2003 with SP2.
Any help or suggestions willl be greatly appreciated.

I want to refer to an objects properties in form: ie...
set a textbox's default value = textbox.name (me.name?)
How do I set this in the form's default value (...without using VBA).
I have a standard form but i would like it so that when a user clicks on the button from the main menu to open the form it changes the default view which i have set to data entry and change it to not data entry. Also another button to change its record source to a different query. Rather than make lots of different forms that have the same thing but for just different purposes.
I hope that makes sense?

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?
The charity that I work at has many volunteers.
When they enter data they use the tab key for movement to each field.
Can I have the Tab Key STOP on the current record and not proceed to a new record?
I have a table that holds the SQL texts for ca. 1000 Select queries (mostly minor variants that are used to programmatically swap out RowSource strings for combo boxes). I'd like to have a quick and easy way to open/review/modify these queries.
One strategy would be to display the SQL strings in a field on a Datasheet form, then use an onClick event on a text box linked to the SQL-holding field (or perhaps an onClick event tied to an unbound text box on the form) to open the associated query. That would allow me to view the SQL of the query that I want to open, allow me to quickly scroll through the list of stored SQL texts, and give me options for sorting or limiting the SQL-texts displayed in the datasheet form.
But, I can't seem to get the onClick event to work. The problem seems to be that I can't figure out how to pass the SQL string contained in the field to a function that will use that string to open the query .
Hi, I would like to change the properties of either the column heads in a combo-box or the column names for tables. I don't think there's any way to adjust the column head properties, and I'm doubtful there's a way to change the column caption properties.
Some of my column titles are long, and I'd like to be able to word wrap them essentially. Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks.
I have a 2003 .mdb file and the associated Workgroup Information File which normally resides on a network in a folder V:V-Base-DatabaseDATA. I have the Workgroup Information File.
The database is unsupported and we need to migrate the data to a new web based database.
When I try to open the database with the shift key down I get the following message :
You do not have the necessary permission to use the V:V-Base-DatabaseDATAV-Basebe.mdb object.
What is the best way to access the data and do I need to do this on the server instead of a local drive off site?
Running 2007. In 2003, to make a shortcut for an object, all I had to do is right click and place the short cut where i wanted.
I can't seem to find anyway to do it in 2007
Anybody have any clues?

I am using Access 2003(11.6355.6360) SPI
When I attempt to create a new DB - by performing Blank Database I immediately get a message 'Object Library not registered'.
If I 'OK' that box and try to create a table, I can do so - create Table in design view.
When I then try to Import external data - an excel file I get the message 'ActiveX component Can't create object'.
I have looked ob various sites for help and forum information regarding these errors but have found nothing conclusive, with specidfic regard to Access 2003.
The version has been loaded on my machine about 1 year as part pf Office Professional but this is the first time I have attempted to run Access itself.
Does any forum member have any ideas as to how this problem could be resolved.

I am currently building a database for the company I work for that is fairly similar to the Northwind Database; however it is made from scratch so hopefully some of the common problems with that database won't find their way into mine.My problem is that when I go to my Orders form, I pick a customer from the main form, which creates a record on the Orders table. When I then go to the subform to choose a product/line item, I get the error in my title ("The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'OrdersT.") as soon as a product is chosen from the drop down list.

Then it also gives me the same one on another table.
I think it has something to do with the link master/child fields. I've tried all kinds of relationships with the three tables and can't figure it out.

This happens when I start entering data in the field "productname" of a subform.
So I'm assuming something in the form or in the code of the form is referring to ClientID. but I've checked it, and there is nothing referring to it anymore. Well, at least as far as I'm aware of.
This afternoon access crashed without any error, it just closed. Upon reopening the DB again, all my work of the past one and a half week was gone. Normally I always backup the data, but these past days I didn't due to christmas and still working a lot too. So I forgot.
I did some redesigning in the process this evening, deleting and adding some fields and code.
I can't get rid of this error. Can anyone help? Or point me in the right direction?
Also the DB is 3.5MB in size. While it is completely empty. And I can't imagine that some empty tables, queries, forms and a bit of code can be so much. But that's for a later time to worry about I guess, unless one of you says: this and that, maybe that works... Otherwise, I would really be very glad already if the error disappears....

An ideas?
Whenever I use a look up field to enter values, I get the ID number displayed instead of the value (name). How do I rectify this error.

I have a order system which allows customers to place items on. When an item is selected and a quantity has been entered and add button is selected, this adds the item into a listbox with all the details.
Each item that is selected a quantity is selected, this would then work out a total price and this total would be displayd within the list box too.
i want to add all the totals up for that order and have it displayed within a text box.
for example:
product ID, Name, quantiy, item price, totalcost
P0001 Top 5 1.00 5.00
P0002 Top 4 2.00 8.00
P0003 Top 3 1.00 3.00
i then have a text box where i want to display the overall total for these items within. hope this helps. im really stuck on this one!!!

I have a querie that calculates the average of two sets of times taken from a calculated figure in a table.
My problem is that the returned value seen when the querie is ran needs to be of a clock format. Eg 0.75 needs to read as 0:45
I have attached a Database to help, as i am unable to do this.

I have a combo with two columns and the row source set up as a query which returns two columns.
When I click the drop-down arrow for the combo box, I get exactly what I expect.
What I want to do is initialize the combo box so that the "default" selection is displayed in the "text" or "value" section of the box. I also want to be able to update this when the user makes a selection.
I have no problems when using a list box with something like:
listbox.value = <Some Index in the listbox>
With the combo box, I've tried:
combobox.text = xxx
combobox.value = xxx
combobox.column = xxx
combobox.itemdata = xxx
combobox.listindex = xxx
The value property sort of works -- It displays the data from the first column right justified in the "text" section of the combo box. I need to have both columns displayed the way they are when the combobox is dropped down.
Any thoughts?

I am trying to choose an entry from a COmbo Box which ahas a Lookuop underlying in it. I then want to display the additonal four entries in the form it self. The data is already created and displayed in a query. The primary key gets displayed but thte other data cannot be displayed. Is there any way I can display the other details eg: Firstname, Surname Age in the same form but under different fieldnames. I am not sure how to do this.
I could retype it all in but that is uneconomical. Any ideas? Please help.

New to Access - I have a database which currently has 200 records. When I run a query or report it's the 150th Record which comes up first. I do get all the information but would like to know how I set it up that it's the 1st record which is taken first and then so on.....
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I view data in linked tables in MS Access containing foreign characters (umlauts, accents, etc), the foreign characters are not being displayed properly. It is not a font or Access setting because I am using a separate similar database (also containing linked tables) where the foreign characters are being properly displayed.
Is there a setting I'm missing in the linking of the tables? Not sure where else to check.
I have successfully used an Expr code in my query to get the calculated result that I need. My problem is I can't seem to display the results on a form. I get the error "Name?"
When I try to find the query on data control which I used, it does nothing but shows me the fields from my table. How can I get a query expr column to display in my form?
the name of the query is "together" and the column's name is "everyone"

They are linked as they both have Weld ID.I want query to show any ATWeld ID that doesnt match a Weld ID in [Results].I can't use SQL as my database is on the web compatible platform. I attempted to do this using InStr([Results]![Weld ID]) in my Weld ID ATWelding criteria on a query but as I am using the web version an error message saying the expression is not compatible with the web is being displayed. I can run the query in my web database?
