I have a subform that accounts and adds all the expenses for a certain project (for example, total is $27,000). I would like to know how to duplicate the final cost in the subform and show it on an unbound textbox of that linked main form (the unbound textbox in the main form shows $27,000 also).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a time sheet that enables my workers to fill out separate work orders and the hours from those Work orders are auto transferred to a sub form within their daily time sheet. I have gotten all this done and I have the total hours transferring to the main form but I need to use that transferred number in a new sum on the main form. I know that this cannot be easily done just by using the expression builder.

This way all records have data in both the main form and the subform... is this possible?

The situation is i have two forms, looking at the same table, but the main table shows more records, I would like to select a record in the datasheet subform and have the main form flick through to the corresponding record.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently building a database in Access 2013. I've used Access many years ago, and not really in anger since maybe 2003, so I've been re-learning quite a lot. Here's an overview of my scenario, and issue:
The main purpose of my database is to allow engineers to log various bits of information when building, servicing and testing manufactured products for offshore exploration. Because some of the engineering team aren't so great with data entry etc, I've decided that, rather than deleting data, I'm going to use a 'deleted' flag: user clicks what he considers to be a delete button, but in reality an update query will simply update the flag and, because the form is built on a query which includes a 'where deleted = 0' filter, it'll no longer be shown. This will allow us more control over the data and will also allow me to check that everything is running okay.
My main forms include a number of subforms, including one which includes a second tier of nested form: Pin Maps for (electrical) Connectors.
What I need to achieve is fairly straightforward: as the user navigates around the form, I'd like a 'delete' button which is specific to that subform to become visible and for any other 'delete' buttons to become hidden. Once tested, the buttons would be 'stacked' in the same position at the top of the main form, so the user just thinks they're deleting the relevant record in the sub, or main, form.
I have a pretty simple form that includes subform. Subform's table is linked to main form's table with parent/child relation. Connecting fields are main table's ID field and corresponding field in child table. Subform is in datasheet view. This is pretty basic stuff so there should not be any problems, but every time I apply a quick filter in main form it causes data in subform become invisible. There is single row in subform, but all it's fields are empty.

I have a subform which makes a change to a field on the main form. When focus is returned to the main form, the BeforeUpdate and AfterUpdate events fire. Why? I thought from the form's perspective, the subform is just another control.
BTW, I get the same behavior if I modify the field from within the Exit event of the subform control.
In either case, the main form's Dirty event is NOT triggered.

I'm trying to sum up the hours of a sub-form on the main form. I've followed the instructions in Access Help so far. I've created a text box in the footer of the sub form with the following control source:
=Sum([Mon])
which should sum up all the hours in HoursMon fileds.
Then I've created a text box on the main form with the following code in the Control Source
=[frmTshtProj Subform]!SumMon
But it doesn't work. I get a #Name? appear in the box instead of a total. Any ideas?

I'm coming up with Run-Time error 2450 Microsoft Access cannot find the referenced form 'tblitemlist subform'.
I have an access form (Customer) along with a sub-form (Work_done). On sub-form I have Running sum of Amount in Text box-1. I want that Total of Running sum be replaced with Main form's tables field total_amount. Is it possible that we can replace an amount of control of sub-form into main form's field?

I found that if I do a refresh it works when changing the data but not when entering a new line of data in subform1. I tried some code in the after update field of on subform1, but cannot seem to get anything to work.
Me.[subform2].Form.Requery
Does not work. It errors and says it cannot recognize subform2 as a field. I have tried a field name on subform2 but I still got the same error.

I have a query that runs from the main form when the command button is clicked. It displays the results in datasheet view. I want the user to double click a specific record and jump to that specific record in the main form. How do I do this? Sorry, if this is a dumb question. Please help, my boss is breathing down my neck. :eek: The main form is called Contracts. Each record has a unique ID.

I want to return a value from a separate query and have that show up in a field on my main form. The field name from the query is "Six Month Date" and the query name is "DT6Monthqry". I want to return the value displayed in the"Six Month Date" from the query, matching the CustomerID in the query result to the CustomerID that is being displayed on the main form. The CustomerID is a text field.This is the code I placed in the Control Source property for the field I want to be displayed on the main form:
=DLookUp("[Six Month Date]","DT6Monthqry","CustomerID=" & [CustomerID])
The result of this displays a flashing "Error" in the field, even when I go to a Customer that I know has a result in the "DT6Monthqry".
I have a report that tracks scores for our employees. From the report, you can click a button to add a new score in a form or edit an existing score(frmscoretracker). On this form there are two subforms, in a tabbed control to track additional information about the score; what areas were marked down(Trends), and was it a failing score(AutoFail).
When this form opens I have it programmed to only show the subform if there is data in it. The goal being, if I am adding a new score and there is no existing trends or Autofails for this new record, neither subforms will show - I will add an after update even to show either trends or autofail depending on the score recorded. Also, if someone chooses to edit the score, whatever subform with data, will show as well.
When someone clicks to add a new score, opening this main form to a new record, both of the tabs show. However, if the form opens to an existing record, the appropriate tab shows. Here is the code

Both tabs are set as not visible in the default settings. Is there something in this code that is triggering then to be visible when there is no record in the main form?

ok..i create Main Form that contain 2 (material and workmanship) subforms. subfrom i create using wizard from query
then i use =Sum([TotalAmount]) at subform footer to calculate total price from selected part (i create workshop's part management system) n it works fine..for both subform..
but another prob here..
at Main Form that contain material n workmanship subform. i want to calculate Grand Price, where it from TotalAmount from each subform..
i create 2 dummy control (to hold TotalAmount from each subform,coz i think its hard to make sum for 2 TotalAmount), 1 for material n 1 for workmanship..
then i want to sum 2 dummy control into Grand Price box...
but when i use =MaterialSubform.[Form]!TotalAmount at dummy's ControlSource it failed.. show #name?..

Lets say I have Form A and Subform A with the parent-child relationship established that works well. Subform A has a Text box control that is getting display when I include the subform in Form A.
Now, I decided I dont want to include subform A in the Form A. Is there a way for me to show the contents of that Text box control in Form A without attaching the subform in the main form (Form A)?
I read somewhere that to refer a control on a subform, I have to use the code - Forms!mainform!subform.form!control. But this would be in VBA. What is the equivalent of this in a Control Source in the main form?
If I have not explained myself correctly, please do let me know.
To summarize, my question is without including the subform, I want to reference the values of the subform in the mainform. (I have some design necessity for this requirement) Is there a way for this?

I've a form that has 2 subforms - which subform is used is dependant on the selection of a combo box in the main form. After much time spend trying to set this up I am happy to report that this section works fine.
My problem is that when I have completed the subform I am not able to continue tabbing through the rest of the form.

everytime i try to tab from my subform, it creates a new record for that subform. Also, about the subform, the control that links the main form and sub form is unique.
I have now set my Cycle property on my subforms and forms to Current Record. How can I tab from the subform to the main form and vice versa?
