Subform Is Populated Based On Form Data?

** Additional Note: Could I possibly just have a field in my main form that pulls data from another table? Warning: bad with code**

I'm not sure I'm looking at this correctly and have tried to figure it out (For about two weeks now). I really hope someone can help with this.

I have to add a "Multiplier" to my form. I have tried this numerous ways but it's not working properly.

What I need is to have a main form with a subform only displaying the relevant field (that being if this month/year and location match up between both the subform table and the main form that is displayed, then show this value in the subform on the main form). With this multiplier displayed, another field in the main form is then multiplied by this value.

Is this the right way to do this or no? I'm open to basically anything. It's just that the 'multiplier' changes from month to month and rather then have people manually enter in the multiplier to the main form for every day of the month, I'd rather a field be automatically populated and therefore the other field automatically multiplying by this.

Is this possible??

Forms :: Values Populated From A Subform To A Main Form Not Saving To Table?

I am having a problem with calculated fields that are populated on the main form from the subform not saving to the table the main form is linked to.

I created a Purchase Order table that has information on what emplyee created the record, reason for order, customer information if its ordered for a customer, creation date, eta date and notes while the Purchase Order details table is for information on the supplier, product item number, product name, quantity and cost. they are linked by the Purchase Order number which is the primary key in the Purchase order table. it all looked good so i made the form with the Purchase Order Detail as the subform, i got the form all working great and how i wanted it but then i decided i wanted the supplier name and the subtotal of the cost in the main form populated or calculated by the values in the subform.

I copied the fields i wanted populated in the main form to the subform footer and added the calculation for the subtotal then added the formula to the source code on those fields in the main form so the values would populate. it all worked great on the form and the values populated as they were supposed to so i saved the record and went to look at the tables and i found that while the values in the calculated fields that I populated from the subform showed up in the form they didnt save to the table while the non calculated fields saved fine. i did some experimenting and found that if i delete the code and put the data source back to the table in the form and just type something in the text box it would save to the table but not if i had the code in and let it populate.

an example of one of the codes i used to populate the data in the main form is:

=[frmNewPurchaseOrderDetails subform2].[Form]![txtsubfrmSupplierID]

did i mess up in the code or did i do something to the relationship between the form and the table?

Populate Form And Subform With Data Based On Search ..

Hi,

I have a form with a subform, Both of them are based on a query.the form

displays a productid and its details ,and the subform has matching

productnames for that productid.

Now i have a search on the main form wherein the user enters ( search

for) the productid, once they click search button, the form should show

that particular prod id and details and subform loaded accordingly with

that productid matches...seems simple but how do i code this in VBA??

Basically populating the form and subform with data based on search..

i am using ODBC coonxn with backend oracle tables..

any help would be highly appreciated!

Display Data On Subform Based On Comboboxes In Main Form?

Hello, I'm trying to use information based on items selected in a combobox in the main form. Once the user selects the desired info in the comboboxes on the main form, I want the subform to display the data that matches the search criteria in the main form. For instance, if I select a job number, I want everything that matches that job number to be displayed the subform (along with the corresponding job name, version, etc.). I also want to get more specific in a search where I could select a job number, job name, and job version from the comboboxes in the main form to where all the data that matches the search criteria in the main form will be displayed in the subform.

Attached is what I have so far. The form I'm trying to perform this in is the SearchByResults form and the subform is the qryk95 form. I'm trying to populate this using the K95-Template table. I performed a query (qryk95) to select only the fields I want to display in my subform. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a form with a subform in a navigation menu. Something like:

Navigation Form
NavigationSubform
ParentForm (header data and some unbound calculation fields)
Subform (Multiple lines tied to query)

I have some fields in the ParentForm (i.e PF1, PF2) that would effect the values on the Subform (i.e. SF1, SF2). Also, there are some user editable values on the subform that will calculate the remaining fields on the subform (still using data from parentform).

My calculations work fine for the changes made on the subform. However I need to be able to calculate all the children lines on the subform when the form loads or a change is made to certain fields on the parentform. My On_Current event only wants to recalculate the first line.

Parent Form
PF1=10
PF2=3
Subform QTY ADJ SF1 SF2
Line 1 5 .05 10.6 112.89
Line 2 8 .14 10.38 105.15
...
Line N
SF1=PF1+(PF2/QTY)
SF2=SF1*(SF1+ADJ)

So if PF1 or PF2 were changed then all the lines is subform would recalc SF1 and SF2. If changes were made to QTY or ADJ, then that line would recalc SF1 and SF2.

I have a form that request the User to enter a Parcel ID number (99-9a-99-99aaa-aaa-aaaa). The sub form asks for the subdivision number, block number, and lot number. The subdivision number, block number and lot number are normally part of the Parcel ID number but sometimes they can be different. I want the sub form to fill in the Subdivision number, block number, and lot number as a default but allow the user to change the value if needed. currently the sub form will only show what is entered into the table itself if a change is made on the main form the sub form does not reflect the change.

I have an AfterUpdate event where I want a list box to be populated based on three different criteria based on a table in my database

1. Complete = False AND
2. Supplier on form = supplier in table AND
3. Status in table = "SUPPLIER_RFQ FOLLOW-UP" OR "SUPPLIER_RE-RFQ TO OTHER SUPPLIER"

I have a form, combo box selection, when i make a selection, all the info is good on all my tabs, which holds the subform.My issue is, on one of the subform, it's a data entry form, where I want it to be on a new record page. instead it list all records. I want my users to see a blank page, but have one field populated. is this possible?

1) blank data entry page, but with a populated field?When a CU Name is selected,I want the (Enter Note) tab to go to a data entry or last page or new page.I have tried putting it to data entry form, but the CU Number will not populate.

I have an unbound combobox on a form that is used to filter the records of a subform based on who they have been assigned to. The combo box is based off of a query to the personnel table and utilizes a UNION querry to add the option "**ALL**" with a id number "111111" as the first option in the combo box.

In other words: the combo box has a list of names to choose from and the word "ALL" at the top as the first selection. The idea is that when "**ALL**" is selected, the subform should display all records regardless of who they have been assigned to. I'm trying to accomplish this with VBA. I've started developing the code to try to impliment this, however currently when "**ALL**" is selected, I'm getting a datatype missmatch that seems to be caused by my use of recordset.

I have a combo box that pulls account name data from tblAcctInfo. the combo box has an OnChange event which updates a textbox, txtAcctAddr.

when i have a new account that i would like to be listed in the combo box, i use a form, frmAcctAdd, to add a record to tblAcctInfo.

what i would like to do, is:
1) when i type a new value in the combo box that isn't in the list, have that string value pre-populate in the frmAcctAdd.
2) when i have added the new account info into frmAcctAdd and then saved the record, i would like the new value to pre-populate in the combo box, with the txtAcctAddr textbox also updated via the OnChange event (or maybe a different event is more appropriate?).

I have created a long version of this which requires a lot more user interaction (1-user typing in a new value into the combo box, 2-user RE-typing the SAME value into a data entry form, frmAcctAdd, 3-user saving the new record, 4-user re-clicking the combo box and selecting the newly added value) but i am trying to streamline the data entry with auto-populated fields.

I have a number of tables in my database, and they're linked in with a form. I'd like to have a field in a form that's populated automatically based on what's inputted in a different field.For example, I've got one table with names and descriptions on widgets (name in column A, description in column B).

Widget 1 This widget is blue
Widget 2 This widget is green
Widget 3 This widget is yellow

When I'm in my form, I want when I select Widget 1 to have the corresponding text (This widget is blue) appear in a field below.

Exit A Half Populated Form Without Saving Record

Hi could someone point me in the right direction for this one,

I have a series of linked tabbed Forms. One of the Forms is mostly populated by Combo boxes which all work fine. My problem occurs when you go to add a new record and populate the form with the combo boxes but decide for some reason not to save the record but exit the form using the Close form command button or by using the close button at the top of the Form. Access seems to Save the record anyway. I have placed an Undo Cmd on the form to clear all text boxes which works fine but it does not stop a user from closing or exiting a Form by another means and stop them saving that incomplete record.

I would be grateful for any thoughts on how to solve this problem.

How To Stop A Form From Closing If Some Essential Fields Are Not Populated

I tried putting the following code in the form unload procedure, but although it does generate the correct message, it doesnt stop the form from closing.

If the above condition holds, I want the user to click on the stop button before they close down the form. I'm guessing that the form is already commited to closing before the unload event? :o

The combo box has 2 columns, supplier and supplier ID.the supplier name stores the supplier in its own text box.When you select the supplier, the supplierID appears in another text box.I need to store this supplier ID.The control source is =[suppliername].[column](1) When I look up the table, the supplier is captured in the supplier name but the supplierID is not captured in the supplier ID field.

Change Subform Based On Form Selection

Greetings! This forum has been most helpful to a rusty Access user.

I'm creating a student group score entry form, having problems with creating the form I want. Say for example we have the following:
1. Three groups: A,B, and C.
2. Group A has 5 students, Group B has 3, and Group C has 20.

I want a form where I can select group A, and a list of the students will populate and enable me to enter scores for all of them on the same page. This will save time not having to re-enter the information for so many students. If anyone has a clue of what I'm talking about or is willing to lend me aid, I would appreciate it.

Open Subform Based On Form With Combo Box

I have a main form (FRMProspects) with a combo box (ComboCoName) that has a query as it's record source to sort the records displayed in it. It is bound by the CustID (autonumber), but displays the CompanyName.

What I want to do is open a sub form FRMNotes, based on the Company name that is selected in the ComboCoName. So for Company XY, I want to click on the Notes command button to open up all the notes for that company only (filtered). FRMNotes is based on a different table, but TBLProspects and TBLNotes are linked by CustID (one to many).

What code do I need for this? I am treading water with VBA!

Filter Form Based On Subform Criteria

I need to open my form with a filter attached that is based on criteria already existing in the subform. I've tried putting the following code in the OnOpen event of my main form :

Basically I want to open my main form (Campaign Form) and only show records where the "Communication Response" is 2,4,10 or 11(a variable on my subform "Campaign - Last Contact Status subform"). Which in itself is a problem because I can't seem to code all of these variables- it will only accept one.

When I run the above code I am getting asked to enter a parameter value for "Campaign - Last Contact Status". I'm not too sure where this is picking this up from or how to fix it. I've even tried to run this based on the underlying query of "Campaign - Last Contact Status subform" with the same results.

Can someone help me? All I want to do is open the form based on the criteria I specify which is contained in a field in the subform. It doesn't sound that hard but it seems to be getting the better of me!

I have a form (frmSearch), based on (I think) John Big Bootys code. On it, a search box, which filters results as you type. Works great.

Instead of presenting the search results in a listbox, I wanted it in a subform (sfmSearchresults). Also works great.

Problem was this: I wanted a button on this form, to open another form based on [CustID]. For a listbox, I could use columns(0), but not for a subform. After much trying I got this to work:

The part that I don't understand is the Item(5). The subform is based on a query (qrySearch), from tblCustomers. tblCustomers fields is as follows:

Item(0) in strWhere would return Adress1 as [CustID].
Item (1) = Newspaper1, Item(2) = Newspaper2, Item(3) = FirstName, Item(4)=LastName, and (finally) Item(5)=CustID.

I don't get the logic. With listboxes, I could just count columns for columns().

Have attached my database. It's just a test database, with 4 people. The final database will have about 1200 people, and many more fields. Its .accdb (Access 2013). I tried converting to Access 2002-2003, but couldn't get it to work.

Access Form Auto Populated Fields With Linked Tables

I am really new to Access 2010 as I normally use SQL so im sure this is a very basic question. I have a form where I have linked some sql tables to a table in access so the data gets stored in SQL. The form consists of many fields the basic fields are Policy ID, Name, Office, Month, Dept etc. At the moment users have to fill this in using comboboxes and text boxes but I want to change this so when the user puts in the Policy ID all the other fields are populated ie in the office field it would have a sql query of or something that looksup the office from the policy id that is entered:

SELECT [Office] FROM DBO.DQ
WHERE [Policy_ID]='what is entered into the Policy ID field' and so on.

Also not sure if this works but as I have now linked the tables to SQL does this mean that when a user fills in the information into the form it will then update the SQL table or is this another issue?

Subform Based On Selection Combobox In Main Form

Hello.
I am trying to make an invoice sheet in Access 2000.
My program consists a Order Sheet (frmOrder2), Delivery (frmDelivery) Sheet and a Invoice Sheet (frmInvoice).
All three are linked by DoNo.
The DoNo is made by frmOrder2.

I have a form that is called frmInvoice and a subform called subInvoice.

What I basically want to do is, to get the subform (subInvoice) to show records depending on the selection in the combobox DoNo in the main form.

subInvoice should show the Items, UnitPrice, Amount, TotalPrice, Remarks. These Items should show the records of frmOrder2.

I am kind of confused and totally lost, because I have no clue how to start!
And I am quite a beginner so, bear with me! Thank you!

Filter Master Form Based On Subform Criteria

I have a check box within one of the sub-forms called "softwareInstall" if yes the box would be checked. I want to filter all customers within my main form with a check box in my main form to turn on and show all customer who has this box check within the subform SoftwareInstall=True.

Find Record In Main Form Based On Selection In Subform

Can someone tell me how I migh find a record in a main form based a a selection in my subform?

I have a Main form called frm_ProductionSchedule.

It contains three subforms:
frm_ProductionSchedule_subform
frm_ProductionSchedule2_subform
frm_ProductionSchedule3_subform


I would like to be able to select a record within any of the subforms and have the main form display it. The main form is linked to a SQL server Table. The subform are based on queries. The unique PK field is a date field called record_date.

I should add that the Link Child/Master fields are blank for all Subforms. Each Subform is linked to a query and displays data for a particular machine (1,2 or 3) AND is updated based on a combo selection of the Production week. The queries for one subform would look something like this:

So I have a search form that I created that has also a subform (a continous form, that has a query as its source) where my records are listed. I started on making a Between dates filter where i would be able to pick dates and get the results of records that are in that range.

I put two text boxes in which I set format to Short Date so that I get the button to select the date from a calendar for each text box. Then I made a button that is only for this and added a Clickon code so that it filters my subform over the recordsource of the form. The problem is is that i get an error and it doesn't filter.
