Sum In Footer Of Continuous Form In ADP

Aug 16, 2006

I apologise if this question has been answered elsewhere but I have tried looking and can't find anything that helps.
I'm in the process of upsizing an access database to an adp front end and a sql server back end. One of the forms in my original database was a continuous form with some calculated text boxes in the form footer. One for example had the formula
=Sum(IIf([field1]="valueA",1,0))
which worked quite happilly.

I've now changed my forms recordsource to a stored procedure which works fine, however none of the calculated text boxes in the footer of the form work. I have read that complex expressions might not work in adp's and that I should use CASE instead of IIF, which I've done. I've taken the iif part of the formula and added a calculated field to my underlying query so all I need to do in the calculated text box is an =sum([aField]) but I still get a #Error.
Even if I do a =count(1) or something really simple like that I still get #Error.

Can anyone see where I'm going wrong?

General :: Sum (column) In Footer On Continuous Form Not Updating?

May 19, 2014

My form is setup with Continuous view, with data feeding from a table. The structure is straighforward (excel style). AgentID, workHrs, holidayPaid, holidayUnpaid, sickHrs etc. The structure is not normalized, and I know the risk. This is basically only for human interpretation, not really a structure that will cause instability or patched up working of the DB.

I have the continuous form view, so it can be viewed in one single display, I have placed a Totals at the footer, which is populated by nothing but a simple = Sum(columnName). This works great in most of the computers, except one. My boss's computer. Which is where it actually needs to work. I am baffled, because I have tested it on almost every single computer in my office, everyone's work. Just his computer is playing up. I am unable to pin point the problem. The status bar keeps going "Calculating..." but even after giving it a solid 5 minute it does not seem to work !

Form Footer Like Report Footer

Aug 25, 2006

I have some reports which lay my data out perfectly. For example,Report headerPage headerDetailsPage footerReport footerNow, I'd like to have exactly the same layout on some forms but with various buttons, etc. for manipulating data. The only problem is that when I put something on the form footer, it appears at the bottom of the viewable screen area no matter whether the detail area should overrun or not ?Is this due to form size or something else?Ideally I'd like to have it appear right at the bottom of the form and allow the user to scroll down the form to see the footer.

A Continuous Form And Continuous Subform, Possible?

Aug 9, 2005

What I am trying to do is put a subform within a subform. The trouble is I want both forms to be continuous forms.

when I put the subform within a subform, access comes up with the following message:

************************************************** ********************
A form with a subform object cannot have its DefaultView set to Continuous forms.

You tried to add a subform to a form in design view.
MSAcess will reset the property to Single Form.
************************************************** *********************

which it does my higher level form becomes a form only showing single records at a time whilst the subform is a continuous form.

does anyone know of a way around this?

what about Access2003 does it allow this?

help much appreciated.

Form Footer Calculation Error

Sep 6, 2005

I have a simple tabular form with the following:

cboItem_Name
txtItem_Cost
txtQuantity
txtExtended_Price

The AfterUpdate for txtQuantity = Me!txtExtended_Price = Me!txtItem_Cost*Me!txtQuantity, which puts the extended price in the control.

In the FOOTER of the form, I have txtSub_Total. It's Control Source is:
=SUM([txtExtended_Price]).

As far as I can tell from reading, when placed in the form footer and used in 'continuous form' layout, this ought to give me the total cost of ordered items.

Instead, I am getting #error. Can anyone help me with this?

The footer is not extending all the way in Form View. I've tried fitting to grid, resizing it manually, and a couple of other things.

There has to be a quick fix for this right?.. Forgot to blur out other Logo.

Sum Function At Footer Of Form Rounding Issue

Jan 14, 2008

I am having a small problem when using the Sum function on the footer of my form. I am using the following:

=Sum([UnitQty]*[UnitCost])
UnitCost is a currency and UnitQty is a number

This is working except for one senario. Sometimes the quantity is a decimal. For instance, 27.75 X 0.5 = 13.875. It appears that when the sum is totaling this, it does not round up to 13.88 like I need it to. I also tried the following with no luck:

=Sum([UnitQty]*Round([UnitCost],2))

Any ideas?

How can I do this?

Reports :: Footer To Bottom Of Page Or Page Footer To Last Page Only

Oct 23, 2014

I am trying to create an invoice report. I want to add all the costs from the detail section in my footer. I have accomplished this in either the Report footer and/or the page footer, but the problem is that the report footer doesn't go to the bottom of the page, and the page footer doesn't go to just the last page. I have tested a bunch of suggestions that don't seem to work.

1. Print page footer with Report header = NO - only works if your report is two pages or more.

2. Private Sub PageFooterSection_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)
If Page = Pages Then
Me.[TextBoxName].Visible = True
Else
Me.[TextBoxName].Visible = False
End If
End Sub

The Page functions worked, but it did not change the results from page to page. If it was a two page report, then the if statement is false and the text box was not visible on page 1, but it also was not visible on page 2.

Forms :: Use Buttons On A Form To Change Sort Order On A Continuous Form

Jul 23, 2013

I want to use buttons on a form to change the sort order on a continuous form. In the buttons click event I am using a public function (named Sort_1) to change the sort order. The first element of the event call is the name of a generic query (named Sort_1_Query1) and the query field to sort (LAST_NAME OR FRIST_NAME, depending on the button.)This is the Click Statement.

=Sort_1("Sort_1_Query1","LAST_NAME")

This is the Public Function
Public Function Sort_1(SortName As String, FieldName1 As String)
DoCmd.ApplyFilter SortName, FieldName1 & "between 'A' and 'Z'"
End Function

I think the problem is in the use of quotation marks or trying to pass the query field name to the Do Command or the use of an ampersand.

Forms :: Continuous Form With Command Button On Each Record To Open Another Form

Jul 30, 2014

I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.

At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.

continuous form: "04 - GASTOS_BUSQUEDA"
id field on continuous form: "Gastid"

pop-up (details) form: "GASTOS_EDITAR"
id on pop-up (details) form: "editar_id"

This is what I have tried on the "click" properties of the "details" button field (called "btn_editgs"):

1)
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", acNormal, , "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid

2)
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , "[editar_id]=" & Me.Gastid

3)
stLinkCriteria = "[editar_id]=" & Me![Gastid]
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , stLinkCriteria

4)
Private Sub btn_editgs_Click()
On Error GoTo btn_editgs_Click_Err
Dim strWhere As String
strWhere = "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid
DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , strWhere
btn_editgs_Click_Exit:
Exit Sub
btn_editgs_Click_Err:
MsgBox Error$
Resume btn_editgs_Click_Exit
End Sub

Continuous Form Problem: All The Form Records Are Affected

Aug 17, 2007

I have a continuous form bound to a recordset that has the following fields:

- Ignore: Boolean
- OverTime: Boolean
- AnnualLeave:Boolean
-ExtraValue: Double

The Ignore, OverTime, AnnualLeave fields are bound to a I, O, A checkboxes respectively in this continuous form. The ExtraValue bound to a EV textbox in this form.

What I want is that when the user check O or A checkboxes, the EV textbox is enabled only for this form record NOT all the form records, when the user check I checkbox, the EV textbox is disabled only for this from record, NOT all the form records.

The problem is that whenver the user check, all the form records EV text box is affected by this action.

Is there any way to achieve this?

What I face is that for example if I enter the "Na" value in the A textbox, all the cells of the A textbox are converted to pink. What I want is only the cell in the edited record, not all.

Continuous Form Lookups

Aug 18, 2005

I have a subform in continuous mode which has a list of people. I have created an unbound field which has a dlookup into a telephone number table.

What I want to happen is for each person in the list to have their telephone number displayed (not recorded - just displayed) on the form alongside their name. On a single form this works fine, but on a continuous form it displays the same phone number on all the rows (presumably the first person in the lists number).

Can anybody advise how I can get the dlookup working for each record in the continous form.

Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Pictures And Continuous Form

Apr 19, 2007

Thanks for reading another one...

I am building an application for my marketing dept. that will track their mailouts. So far I can handle it; however, they want a thumbnail displayed of each piece of creative. I can do this if they only wanted to see one record at a time, but they want all records w/in a certain date range and the pic that goes with it. I am currently storing the path to the image so not to gorge my db to explosion.

pic campaign_name start end mail_out #_pieces
pic campaign_name start end mail_out #_pieces
pic campaign_name start end mail_out #_pieces
pic campaign_name start end mail_out #_pieces

where pic is the thumbnail. I have built it with a continuous form so I can display all the records but I am up to change if needed.
I have read other posts and they all deal with single forms and the onCurrent event is not really working for me.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Continuous Form And Tickboxes

Hi All - It must be the early hour or something, my brain is dead.

I have a continuous form of Pharmacy items that belong to a specific customer. At the end of each row I have a TickBox.

I have a button that prints a report on the form and when it prints the report I want the TickBoxes to then be ticked automatically. When I put the code

Me.Tickbox = -1

it just ticks the first item and not all the tickboxes.

How can I get it to do the rest? (I have searched but found nothing yet of help)
