Switchboard Doesn't Open
Oct 11, 2004I know stupid question. When I open my database I want the switchboard to open automatically, but it doesn't. What do I do to fix this?

May 27, 2014I have developed a project in Access 2003 and it works absolutely fine. There is a switchboard form too and that works fine as well. But now in our company we are moving all the projects developed in 2003 to 2010. And so I have noticed the switchboard form doesn't work in Access 2010 the way it works in 2003. The Switchboard form doesn't display all the options in 2010.

Nov 28, 2004i'm creating a database which has several switchboards. i have several tables, each saved in the same format with the table name representing the date of the report, for example table 1 is saved as 100204(Oct 2, 2004), and table 2 is 100904, so on and so forth. I have a text box which a user needs to enter the date of the report they want to look at and i need to be able to open the desired table by date entered. I've had a couple of vb classes but haven't used it in a while. can anyone help? thx in advance.

Apr 8, 2013I have a main form that opens on an autoexec macro.When ever i open up the database the form opens but for some reason it always opens a little way down the page so that you cant see the top and have to scroll back up to the top.
This is rather annoying because i have a tab control and it means you cant click the tabs until you move it back up.

Mar 27, 2013We work with Access 2003 and on like 5 out of the 30 machines this problem occurs. When you open a form it sometimes does not open to the foreground, when u alt-tab out of it and go back or just press the windows key en then back on access it seems to refresh the page and showing the one that you have opened.
The weird thing about this is that it seems completely random at which forms and at what time it happens. I have encountered this problem on my own machine maybe 2-3 times in 3 months. The 2 other machines encounter this problem daily.
I have noticed that when I changed the Windows scheme to Classic view the problem occurred a lot less then before. We first thought it had something to do with the speed, but since we moved our database to SQL Server and our application runs very smoothly this problem was still there.
Switchboard To Open New Blank Form...
May 30, 2006Just curious. I'm trying to set up a switchboard to guide users to the right place in my database. I would like to have one button on the switchboard to open a standard form with all the infomation in it already. and then I would like to have a button to open a form that is blank and then adds to the previous form I mentioned.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mar 15, 2013I would like to have the Switchboard I created open when the database is selected. I used Tools/Startup to set this up. It works to a point. The database window opens and THEN the Switchboard opens (on top of the database window). There are some who I wish not to see the database navigation window). Also, is it possible to OPEN the switchboard again when a Form is closed?

I have a combo box on my switchboard that looks up field txtOfficer in a query and then want it to open up a new form containing only those records relating to the officer name selectedtxtOfficer
The rowsource for the combo is:
SELECT DISTINCTROW [qryMain].[txtName] FROM [qryMain];
and the on click event is:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmFiltered", , , "[txtName] = " & Me.cmbOfficer.Column(0), acFormEdit
When I select a name from the combo I get a parameter box and have to type in the name to open up the filtered records form. How can I get rid of it so the selection is one seamless process? :confused:

I've done a search of the forums, the results of which have more-or-less caused me to understand (roughly) what the problem might be and how to locate the code which is causing it. Sadly, I am a bit of a Visual Basic virgin, and I am reluctant to wade right in because if I screw up this database I'll have decimated my company's advertising and marketing strategy (mailouts!).
I was trying to make a command button on a switchboard (which I have done before, but not recently) -- and was taking a bit of a trial-and-error approach. I wanted the button to result in the previewing of a set of mailing labels (which the user would susbsequently print after reviewing). One of my first attempts resulted in the button automatically printing, so I "cut" it, and several close-but-no-cigar attempts follwed, all of which I used the "cut" command to dispose of. The last attempt I made resulted in the following message:
"The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Ambiguous name detected: Bulletin_Board_labels_Click.
-The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure].
-There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro."
I "cut" the button I had just created and thought that might fix it. It didn't. I still got the above message whenever I tried to open either this switchboard or the main switchboard. I tried closing down Access and restarting it. Same message, same problem.
Below is the code from the switchboard in question -- the last few entries are the relevant ones: anything to do with "bulletin board" is stuff I was working on. As far as I can tell there are currently no duplicate queries, reports, macros, etc, named "Bulletin Board Labels" (theres is one query named "Bulletin Board Query", and one report named "Bulletin Board Mailout labels", and that's it.)

Please help me resolve this problem?

Linking From Switchboard To Switchboard On Two Or More Databases
Nov 21, 2006I am working on a database that will be an addition to an existing one on the company server. However, to make the overall layout not so complex and allow room for other additions in the future, I'd like to keep the databases separate. This will also ensure more efficiency, integrity and troubleshooting overall.
I have the original database with the name of "Cell MFG Screen" that contains a switchboard. I am now creating a db to keep track of manufacturing waste (which will also be on the same server when completed). That switchboard is called "Cell Waste Weight". Again, I want to keep these db's separated from one another as well being able to add future dbs. Now, what my plan is to make up a one db that consists of only a switchboard that will be used as the main switchboard to be able to navigate to other dbs that are located on the server.
Does anyone know how this is done?

Oct 5, 2006i am trying to run an append query in SQL which appends a calculated value into another table 50 times incrementing the day by one day each time. When I run it it asks me for the parameter [NewDay] each time. It is obviuosly not picking up the variable.

I know the problem is with the group by clause. In MySQL it just works using "group by p.bts_int_id. I learnt in access i have to include all non-aggregated fields in the group by clause, and that's what I've done!! WHY!!Please help me!!!

I don't get any result back. If I changed it likt the following:
tblparameters.ccnf = 'ExpTijd1' , in the query, I get one record back.
So my conclusion the query is right but the Like doesn't work in these circumstances?

I am designing an application for an assignment for college, all seems to be going ok except that I have to teach myself access from a book. When I update a record on a form and go to another page it works fine, but if I attempt the same action ( for example creating an appointment then moving to a new form to confirm they have arrived) a second time I am getting an error which tells me I can't save the record. I think it is to do with updating the recordset when the new form is opened. I have an update record button on the form (created by the wizard) but it wont update on the second attempt. Could someone please tell me the code to update a recordset on the formload procedure. Ive tried me.recordset.refresh and me.recordset.requery but I still can't solve the error. Please help I've got to hand this assignment in in 2 weeks. thanks in advance

My Code Doesn't Do What I Want It To Do

ListBox Just Doesn't Cut It

I have a table with approximately 700 records. This table consists of a location field. I want a user to be able to select a location from this table via a form. Listboxes and Combo Boxes hold 255 rows. Plus, what user would want to use one of those to search through to find the location they are looking for. Any body have any ideas on a better way to do this? They have to stick to the list, otherwise I would just have a text box for them to type in.

Sep 21, 2014I have a report based on a query that has data for many dates. At the moment I have put a specific date in the criteria of the query so that I could build the report format. So it now displays all the data for the date i have in the criteria section. I will need to run this report several times per week so the specified date (and corresponding data in the report) will need to be changed to a new date when I open the report i.e. when I open my report I want to show data in the report only for a specified date.
Can I create a date parameter box open up when I open the report? Can I create a form with a button that when I click will open the report displaying data for that date? What would be the best way?I also need to display the specified date on the report.
Join Doesn't See Duplicates
Nov 21, 2006I have two table with the same key field. However, in one table it is a text field while the other is a number.
I created a query from the table with the numeric key and converted it to text using the str() function. When the query is run, the values appear, left justified as if they are text.
However, when I create another query using the first query and the other table, I get no records out even though there are matching key field values in both tables (there are no leading zero problems).
What can I do to join these two tables?

I've used this in the past, but now it wont work. I'm stumped.
Left(Trim([IMIE_MSISDN_IMSI]![IMEI]),8)
Now when I try the records remain unchanged, i.e. 13 characters.
Any ideas?
Copied MDW Doesn't Work
Jun 14, 2007Hi! I'm relatively new to Access (2003) . I had to modify a shared network app so I copied it off and renamed it, made my mods and everything is fine. I then went to another app that connects to the original app to obtain data for display and synchronization, modified the call to open the new app including the new mdw. When it hits the new mdw, it can't open it because it says it's being used exclusively or the workgroup file is missing. It's not being used exclusively and it doesn't appear to be missing. The network path is correct. If I use the mdw from the original source app, it works fine. Please advise! :(

My problem is with my database for my coffee bar, man who made database is still, and I don't have somebody to repair my database unfourtanetly :(
I formatted my C:, cause I installed new OS Windows XP PR SP2, and everything is deleted, but I save this .mdb file, but I don't have instalation CD for this program, cause man who installed me this database didn't give me instalation file :(!
And I saved this .mdb file, and now I try to run this POS.mdb,I can open "POS KASA" in english POS CASH, and I see articles - (ARTIKLI), and value of them it account values of them, just program doesn't count for me like before "sume" or "total" of EX. one count, for example coca cola 2.5 KM, fanta 2.5 KM = 5 KM, and now he doesn't count sume - total in program total is "UKUPNO", if somebody to know to repair this, or something another what is importing to work this database like before, please help me, database is on bosnian, if you need translating just ask me, cause I don't know to edit this file, and to have access to change words :(!
