Right slightly complicated (in my eyes) and I have not found anything in previous threads to help but here goes:
I have a main form (FRM_SUMMARYREVIEW) that has an unbound subform field on it (subfrmmaster).
When FRM_SUMMARYREVIEW is first opened subfrmmaster has its sourceobject set to a form called FRM_OPENSUMMARY.
This subform lists all my open escalations, in a continuous forms format and has a field in it called "escalationid" and when I click this field "subfrmmaster" changes it's sourceobject to another form called FRM_MAINDATA and should display the data relevant to the escalationid I have just selected.
In the past I used to click on "escalationid" and it opened up FRM_MAINDATA as a new form, using the following code:
However how can I get the subfrmmaster sourceobject to change and display the relevant escalation detail ?
My other option is to have two subforms on the main form, one with "FRM_OPENSUMMARY" the other with "FRM_MAINDATA", as "FRM_OPENSUMMARY" has a list of escalations displayed, in a continuous forms format could I set it so as I arrow down the list, the data in FRM_MAINDATA displays the highlighted escalation in "FRM_OPENSUMMARY".
how do i make a command button on a bound form change the source object of a subform so that the original subfrm closes and another sub form loads in its place? Basically I want to toggle between subfrms.
right, struggling here. Basically I have continuous form listing all the standard letters sent out when I double click on a letter, I need to to run a query for me. and in the query I am first clearing the mailmerge yes/no field out which works fine and then running the merge to put the yes back in the current record so the query looks like this
Its an update query with update to yes for mailmerge and under the standard letter ID i have the criteria [Me].[OpenArgs]
is this completely wrong tried the [Forms!][frmFullStudentReport].[standardletterID] but it kept popping the box up asking for the number.
On the form I have the standardletterID and its hidden but there.
it's easy to set up a form with a combobox that will list all records and moves the user to the selected record. But I can't figure out how to just show a selection of the records in this combobox, instead of all records.
So, to use the example used in most online tutorials: a drop down menu shows you all the names in a customer database. However, I'd like to have instead a dropdown menu with an overview of all surnames in the database and that I move to the first record with the selected surname.
My table has a yes/no field and about 10 records. I have created a form for the user to select which of the records he wishes to use - the records are displayed in a continuous form with a check box for the yes/no field. The user is to select one record by checking the check box in the record.
I know this should be obvious, but I can't see it. How can I make it so the user can only select one of the records (when he clicks on one, that one is yes and the others revert to no?
Can someone tell me how I migh find a record in a main form based a a selection in my subform?
I have a Main form called frm_ProductionSchedule.
It contains three subforms: frm_ProductionSchedule_subform frm_ProductionSchedule2_subform frm_ProductionSchedule3_subform
I would like to be able to select a record within any of the subforms and have the main form display it. The main form is linked to a SQL server Table. The subform are based on queries. The unique PK field is a date field called record_date.
I should add that the Link Child/Master fields are blank for all Subforms. Each Subform is linked to a query and displays data for a particular machine (1,2 or 3) AND is updated based on a combo selection of the Production week. The queries for one subform would look something like this:
Is there a way to duplicate, triplicate, a record based on an option group selection. i.e.
Form Field: Option group Value = 1 Value = 2 Value = 3 Field 2: Field 3: Field 4: and so on.
Basically if value 1 is selected, then I fill out the rest of the fields hit enter and go to a new record. But if value 2 or 3 is selected, I fill out the the fields, hit enter. The information is recorded said number of times based on the selection in the option group. Ideally I would have2 or 3 of the same record in the db, with different Primary keys of course.
I'm making a database that so I can log calibration information about equipment every year.I have 2 tables:
The Equipment details table The Calibration record table
ID Number is shared between the 2 tables so a calibration record can be linked to its' details.
For Example (simplified sample data):

What I want is a button on a form that creates a new blank record in my Calibration record table with the ID number already entered based on what record I selected in a combo box linked to my equipment table. I really don't know where to start.
You know how there's MoveFirst, MoveLast, MoveNext, and MovePrevious to go to a recordset and make changes? Well, I just want to make changes to one recordset, and that would be the one I would be currently working on. That way I don't have to run the program for every single record everytime I want to modify one thing for one record. Is there something like a MoveCurrentRecord? Thanks =)
My form has a listbox (lstHeatTreatments - Multi-Select disabled) that displays Heat Treatment descriptions and an unbound textbox (txtHTDetails) that I would like to have display the corresponding memo field when a description is selected from the listbox.

I'm having trouble with with my form (frmViewCust). What I am attempting to do is create a form which shows a list of customers (from a query) and has a section with the customers details (from tblCustomers). I need it so when a certain customer from the list is selected, their details will be shown in the customer details section.
The best i could do was have the list and details as sub forms (fsubListCust an frmCustDetails). I made frmViewCust to show records from the same query as fsubListCust and create the textbox CustomerID. I successfully made it for when the CustomerID is shown, fsubCustDetails shows correctly corrisponding with the same CustomerID made. How can i make it so when a record is selected from fsubListCust, the subform will change to the same record for frmViewCust.
Alternativly I made it so the list was a list box instead of the sub form, however I still encouter the same problems. I can't make it so the record (shown in the navigational button) is changed to be the same as the record selected in the listbox.
I have a form called "Customer Details", on that form i have child forms, including one that has a schedule on.. so far everything seems fine, am able to get it to pull data correctly to the correct fields.. etc
I'm using 1 main table for all of this called "Cases"
Now the problem is, when i i click a button to print (this works so far), it opens another form and then fills in all the textbox's, however this is where i've got the problem, as it always seems to pull the data from the first record, not the record that i'm currently on..
so for example, if in the customer details, someone looks up "joe Blogs" using the navigation search and then wants to print it, by hitting the print button .. it should open another form, fill in the boxs and print "Joe Blogs", however it's always doing "Joe adams" - 1st Record
I have a form with a field within it called ID number, another table contains the ID number with a person's name next to it. I was wondering how I can make it so that in the form, when the ID number is entered, the name of the person also shows next to it and does so automatically for each different record. I am pretty sure that a subform is needed however it doesn't seem to work for me so I must be doing it wrong. How would I do this?
I have a main form with several subforms within it. These subforms are navigation tabs. In the footer of the main form I have a textbox that I want to hide unless the 2nd tab is selected.
Details:
3 Tabs, 1 subnavigation subform, 3 tab indexes(0,1,2) tab index 1 the textbox on the main form(parent) should be visible. tab index 0 and 2 the textbox should be hidden.
I was thinking I could do something like when tab index 1 is onFocus then textbox = visible and vice versa on the other tab indexes?
I have an application that enters candidates in, who apply for a job.
I found that I can enter a candidate in, and if I dont enter at least an address type or phone type ( giving that candidate an address record, albiet a blank one (just a type of address) and a phone record) then the candidate wont have a sub record for addres or phone at all.
This is hurting my reports. They are set to pull the primary address and phone only, as we dont need to have 2-3 contact information for a candidate on a report This is how I found out that I had blank address and phone for some test records. I need to be able to check when a person does a number of things, that at least the combos for phone type and address type have been chosen as something. This will ensure that they have a primary address and phone, as I have code that takes care of all that. I tried putting the following code in the form's before update, but since it is calling to a subform, the minute I tab TO the address combo, I get the message. The form is updating before I get the chance to skip the field.
Here is the lay out. A user can enter in candidate, their address, phone, application and activities. Address, phone, applications and activities are all sub reports on a tab control. The user should be able to move freely within any record, and only be bothered when they try to leave, if important information is still empty. I dont want to control how they enter ('you must enter this first!' lol) just that they do enter it in the end.
What I want to do is check when the user is leaving a record.(closing form, going to another record, clicking the search button that opens another form etc) if either combo is empty (no primary contact info) then it gives the message and goes back to the combo that is empty.

If I can't figure this out, I am thinking of making a new address type and phone type. Call it "none chosen" and then make that a default selection. Then one would always be chosen...I think. I would like to avoid that though.
I'm creating a database for work, and one of my forms currently has 8 subforms on it. For each individual account there can be one, none, or many of any combination of these subforms that will have information on them. I need the form to be able to show all of them, as someone else will be inputting all the information when the database is complete, but to make it easier I have set it up with checkboxes so that when a checkbox is checked, a subform shows, if not checked it doesn't show. I have very limited skills with VBA, so that in itself was an accomplishment for me.
My questions is: is there anyway in access to do it so that if a subform doesn't show, all the ones beneath it that do show will get bumped up so that it is easier to read/input data?

I have created a form with 3 subforms on. i was just wondering is it possible to display/ hide these subforms based on a Yes/No field in the form. as the subforms would only be valid if the field is ticked as yes.
I have a form that contains a list box with 11 separate options. Within this list is the option named "None". My desire is to have a message box displayed when any option is selected other than "None". I have searched various threads, however I have been unsucessful nailing down my issue. Is there a way to take a form, select the fields that you want to display on a template(I created the template)? Then the fields that aren't selected grey/disable them? In other words. We perform several tests, ie. test 2006.01 and 2006.02 etc. Each test is based on 1 table. So instead of having to go in each time a new test is needed, can I create a form that has selectable fields(checkboxes), and once I say ok it opens the "new" template it will have the fields that need to be on that test then grey out the ones that aren't going to be used this time around? Sort of new to this....
I am learning Access fairly quick, but still a newbie and stuck on an autofill problem. I have read everything I could find and it seems there may be code involved, which I'm not sure about.
The problem seems simple enough: I want to populate field "Rate" in the table "Services" based on the selection from a dropdown menu referencing ClientID in the Clients table. Specifically, my form uses a drop down menu to select ClientID for the Client table to associate with fields in the Project table and I have imbedded another form at the bottom which contains fields from the Services table including the Rate field I want autofilled based on the ClientID selection. I have a subform on which I log the times spent on any particular project.
I have another subform on which I want to select a month and use this to select all the instances on which work was done on any given project for a particular month. I would prefer to use a pop up calender to select the month (i.e. by slecting the last day of the month in question)
