I have a databse which uses a query and a form to filter records from 1 table into a report. It works well, however the way in which it works currently means i would need around 15 forms as there are (going to be) around 15 tables.
What I would like to do is add a combo box at the very top of the form to select the source table for the other combo boxes on the form (hope this makes sense!!).

I have a table called Auction, it has three fields, seller, iid, and start_time.
I made a combo box on a forum and in the I have a query,
My question is, I have a few combo box, can I have a user select a seller, but it will automatically populate in the same row, the iid and start_time for this seller?
How do I do this, I can't have separate combo box and have user select for each seller, iid and start time because it wouldn't match it to that seller on the same row.
I have database of roughly 15000 records. The records have a unique number and the majority of searches etc work OK. The problem is with a form used to display record details with various sub forms embedded on the form. Scrolling through displays the correct details. Trying to use a combo box to determine the record selected does not work correctly. The combo box is made up of 4 columns of "NAME", "COUNTRY", "ROLE" and "UNIQUE NUMBER" Typing in the combo box auto fills in the NAME until the correct one is found. If the name is unique it opens on the form correctly. But if the name is not unique it does not always open the correct record. Is there any way of being able to use the NAME to search through the combo box entries but use their unique number to determine the record selected. A further problem arises as there are apostrophes in the NAME as well
I have a form with a combo box named 'Venue'. The combo box values comes from a Table with a list of about 200 countries. As of now a user is able to select only one country. However, I want users to be able to select more than one country.
I have a form that allows the user to select a record in a combo box. When this selection is made I want a 2nd form to open and give the user a place to enter additional info about that item selected. I have the forms working correctly but now I would really like to add the 2nd form to the first form as a subform but when I try this I get the message"The expressing is typed incorrectly or is too complex to be evaluated..." There are no fields on the first form that link directly to the 2nd form - because the combo box in an unbound combo (the selection in the combo box is what the 2nd form opens base on) I tried to add this as a subform with no parent/child info and I get the message stated.
I was hoping to make the 2nd form not visible until the selection was made in the combo box then make it visible for the info to be entered. Would really like it to be on the same form not as a separate form opening.I believe I just found that the reason for the message. It seems not to be a subform problem but is because the selection in the combo box needs to be made BEFORE the form can open. So now the question is - how can I make this a subform and avoid this error when the main form first opens. I will test the visibility and see if not visible until the selection clears this up.
I have a subform containing a list of Funds and attributes such as Asset Type, Fund Manager, etc.
Currently, I have a textbox, where the the control source is set so that it will be updated with the Asset Type from the subform.
I also have an unbound combo box that contains a list of Asset Types queried from a table via row source, where user can select the Asset Type.
What I would like is when a record is selected from the subform, the Asset Type is selected on the combo box as a default value. User can select another Asset Type if required. How can I do this?
I have a combo box on my form that passes criteria to a simple select query. There are four possible selections to make from the combo box. For some reason, when I select the first option on the list the query runs perfectly. However, if I select the second, third or fourth option from the combo box, the query returns no records, even though I know there are records in my table which should be returned.
I'm wondering is it possible to create a multiple parameter query which will return results even if you leave some of the parameters blank ?. I'm trying to set up a Form which will allow users to select parameters using combo boxes but at the moment you need to fill them all in or you'll get no results...

I have a database I am using to record financial transactions. I have a transaction edit/entry form that uses combo box lists to select the different segments of my 32 digit account numbers. The issue I am running into is that when I enter a value value in the first box/field the form jumps to the very first record.I then can use the navigation buttons to get back to the last record, and all the subsequent boxes/fields work fine without jumping to a different record.
Hi in the attached database there is a form called "with table select".
I want to be able to select any one of the three tables i have in the top combo box. When this is done the bottom 2 combo boxes will display the relevant data if needed (look at the other form "myform" to see the fields that are requseted).
I am trying to use one form to manage multiple unrelated tables that share the same field names (i.e. SKU, Name, Description) . My goal is to utilize a combobox or listbox to choose which table the data is sent to.
Form - record source - select a table that when the user enter a value in the field of the form it gets place into the designated table (select a table). my problem is that I have two fields in the form, one field from the data entry is suppose to go to the train table,and another field the data entry is suppose to go to the station table. if I have the form's record source have a designated table for the data entry.It doesn't have two tables for the data entry.
I have a form that uses a drop down to populate another drop down (field#2). The information in field(#2) is pulled from a table where the condition in the first drop down is matched. In effect the form drills down and offers specific choices based on the original condition.
The form works correctly when first opened. If the selection in the first drop down changes the associated information in the other field does not update to reflect the new value to match. The form has to be closed and re-opened before it works properly.
I have some combo boxes on a form with values that I have typed in directly. I would like the user to click on these and the option selected will dynamically change a resultset. Unfortunately, when I click on the combobox, the optionsare displayed, but clicking on each of the options doesn't do anything... i.e. the option does not become selected.
I have 2 forms (linked). One is plan, the other is plan contacts.
The plan contacts form is a continuous form and will hold a record of all the contacts for that particular plan. To select the contact (from that contacts table) i want to show, company, department, name.
As there will be hundreds of contacts i need to narrow this down for the user. My idea was to do this by using combo boxes. The first one will show a list of all companys, once chosen the second one will show all that companys departments and then finally all that deapartments contacts.
Any ideas? I am assuming this can be done through an SQL query?
Is there any way to have a Multi-Select Combo Box fill a single field in a table? I've been messing with this for some time now and just can't seem to figure it out.
I have a database that use to record the training information, and there are two column that holding 2 date, Training From and Training To.(I use medium date as my Input mask.)
Now i wish to create a combo box to let the user to select by Year and output to a report to print. But how to make the combo box to show just year but not month and day?? eg. I have a training from 10-Dec-06 to 15-Dec-06 and another training from 05-Feb-07 to 10-Feb-07. so now i need a combo box that can show print by year 2006 or 2007 and the output report will showing all the training which trained in year 2006 if i selected 2006, how to make it? any idea?

Within the continous form, if I name the Control Source as ProjectName, and traverse through the records, the value in the combo box changes to the current selected row.
Problem: In the combo box, I do get the dropdown list of projects, when I click on a project - Nothing Happens! The listbox stays open on the item that I clicked on -- does not close-up and put the selected item in the combobox window. I'm stumped...
I have a database of customers, and I'd like to be able to pull up a specific record on a form. Currently the only way I know how to do this is by ID number (the primary key). I'd like to be able to search by their last name and first name (of course we have people with the same last name), so for instance I'd like to be able to input "Smith" and then have a list of all the smiths to choose from. Is there a way to do this? Thank you!
I am very new to Microsoft Access and I needed some help. I added a combo box to a form and I want the value in that combo box to appear in a table. I was wondering if anyone knew the correct code to do this. I would really appreciate some help. Thank You.
I could set the Combobox.Value to one of the values in the combo box and combo box displays that value. But when I try to use Combobox.Value subsequently it does not have any value. I noticed that the value property is populated only when the combox box item is manually selected(highlighted).
