Tables :: Autofill Future Date Based On Another Field
Dec 1, 2014
I am very new to access and I am trying to figure out how to build an expression for one of my fields. I have a field called Order Date, which holds the date of when an order is filled. I then have another field called Fill By Date. This new field I want to be 2 weeks after the Order Date. Is there a way to auto fill this information so that when I enter a date into the Order Date, it will enter the date that is 2 weeks after into the Fill by Date?

I'm trying to get my "IncidentDate" field to autopopulate two other date fields to a few days from the "IncidentDate". The other two date fields are "ContainDueDate" and "RootDueDate". I'm trying to accomplish this on my "Test CAP Form"
I tried using the following in the BeforeUpdate of "ContainDueDate" and received a complier error: expected =
Code : DateAdd(d,2,[IncidentDate])
so I removed the parenthesis and nothing happened
Code : DateAdd d,2,[IncidentDate]
I even tried redoing it in the AfterUpdate of "IncidentDate" and nothing happened either
Code : DateAdd d,2,[ContainDueDate]
I'm not sure if I'm even using the right function to get what I want.

In a date field is it possible for a date that is in the future to be hi-lighted in a different colour.
E.g. todays date is 25/03/14
So anything with todays date or previous would stay in black
24/03/14
25/03/14
but anything from 26/03/14 forward would be in red
26/03/14
Then will change to black when the 26th comes.

I'm currently building my first database for a research project. When we enroll a participant, we need to have an enrollment date/time as well as an activation date/time (and they are not allowed to be the same because, rules). I was able to figure out how to auto-populate the current date/time when we've marked a person as enrolled. What I'm wondering is if it is also possible to auto-populate another field with the date/time, ten minutes in the future?

I want to be able to pre-fill records with information based on a form every day for each client. This needs to display in a datasheet view showing all clients for each location.
Each day the subform needs to show the expected results of that day's activity with clients if all default conditions are met. (i.e. client receives a call that day based on expected conditions calculated in a form for that day).

I have my Assets form and the primary key is the ChargerID, in this form I have an "Add New Job For This Asset" button, which opens up the Jobs form at a new record.
How do I make it so that the ChargerID field is automatically filled with whatever the previous record was instead of being blank.
For example if I have Charger12345 open in the Asset form, I'd like to click the Add New Job button and it automatically have Charger12345 in the ChargerID field of the Jobs form.

I have a review pop up form (frmReview) where a user selects their Name (StaffID), the type of check they are doing (QuailtyType), and the client they want to do it on (clientID). When they press on the 'do review' command button from this form another form opens (frmReviewDetails) which shows the client they selected from the frmReview form as well as a its subform which shows all the sessions that have been entered for this client along with some fields that have not been complted yet regarding review data. I am trying to have it so when they check the 'review check box' in this subform that today date auto populates in the Review date field (this is currently working). I also want it to auto enter the staffID that they selected on the the initial frmReview form.
This is my currunt code:
Private Sub Rev_AfterUpdate()
If Me.Rev = -1 Then
Me.[RevDate] = Now
Else: Me.RevDate = Null
End If
End Sub
I really don't want a staff to have to enter their name each and every time they check the review box. Not all box's are going to be checked, so it needs to be on a record to record basis.

I have a datasheet with 7 columns. Two of the columns I'm working with are listed below.
File # Region #
2DE2-12345 2
3DE2-@@@ 3
In data sheet view I would like the Region # column to autofill based on the first digit of the file #. So, if file # entered = 3DE3-@@@@ then 3 would auto fill in Region Column. (data is entered in data sheet view)
I have used Left ([File #],1) to get value but cant make it auto populate the Region # column......

I have an Access database with several tables and a multitude of subforms which are displayed on a single master form. The subforms are used to facilitate data entry. In several of the tables there are fields which are related and I would like to have some of these fields updated based on the results entered in the related field (i.e. the answer for one field depends on the other).
Field 1Field 2
[facing][DISC_CODE]
un3
up1
dn2
Field 1 is a simply a description of the basic dataset. This field is already set-up on form as a combo box that allows the user to choose one of three options. Field 2 is a code number used by another piece of software to identify a particular symbol. It is a new field being added to the database. There are 200 codes that identify a wide range of symbols for different types of data and I don’t want to have to look them up when I, or my assistants, are doing data entry.
My question is this; is there anyway to have the DISC_CODE value, Field 2, automatically entered in the table when the value for Field 1 is selected in the combo box on the form?

I am new to Access (using Access 2012) and All I am trying to achieve is to autofill the field [Frequency] from Table FullList based on the value of [Frequency] from Table Courses using a DLookup code used to update the FullList form. The code is not updating anything! It is frustrating! Frequency is a number (integer) and while Course is a text. The figures of my Access database are below.

I would like the "DateOfConfirmation" to populate with today's date when "SSurvDiagThisYear" is Confirmed.
The DateRecordCreated is a simple =Date() that populates when the record is entered into the table.
SSurvDiagThis Year is the case outcome - Pending, Probable, or Confirmed. It is possible that the case could be confirmed on the same day it was entered into the table but that is RARE.
I am hoping for the The DateOfConfirmation to capture the date the case is confirmed so that I can gather some duration between the case being opened to confirmed.

I have a table of checking transactions. Some are past, some from today, and some are dated with future dates (such as recurring payments).
Is there a way to set up a query that will exclude transactions that occur after upcoming paydays (1st and 15th) dynamically? For instance, if I have a transaction scheduled for the 2nd of next month (after payday on the 1st) I'd like to be able to separate it from the transactions that are coming out of this payday.
Thanks for your help.

I've two fields to work with:
[Date of Device]
[DischDate]
If i was explaining it, it would be as follows:
If [DischDate] Is in the next month after [Date of Device] then Y else N.
to add for example if the [Date of Device] is April 2015, and the [DischDate] is also April then i'd expect a N answer
to add for example if the [Date of Device] is April 2015, and the [DischDate] is May then i'd expect a Y answer

Hello,
Was wondering if it is possible to create a query or another method that would calculate future dates based on inputted info ?
For example a person inputs on a form a date completed (06/14/07) and then also selects a frequency of when this has to be revisited....monthly, quarterly, semi-annually.
So based on the date completed that the person inputs I'm trying to get the date if they select monthly of 7/14/07 (using above date example).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Any ideas on calculating future dates based on # of working hours. For example... If a task is suppossed to be completed in 32 business hours, when would that be? Considerations include standard working hours M-F, no working hours on weekend. I have to believe that someone has written this before and I don't need to reinvent the wheel. ANy help is much appreciated!

Hi, All...
Can someone tell me how to calculate a future date in a bound field on a form? The form includes "date created", "life expectancy" and "review date" fields, all bound to the same table. I want the "review date" to be calculated by adding the "life expectancy" (number field, in days) to the "date created" field. I found some posts that were similar but none using bound fields.
Thanx so much for you help with this...I've spent quite a lot of time trying to come-up with a solution...to no avail.
Thanx ;<)

I have a form for the user to enter new units which arrive in our warehouse, one field in DOM (Date of manufacture) which cannot be a date in the future obviously but could be todays' date. there is table level input mask to make the date 00/00/0000.i have this code on the form:
Private Sub dom_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If Me.DOM > Date Then
MsgBox "Please enter a Valid DOM", vbInformation, "Check again !!"
Cancel = True
End If
End Sub
which doesn't accept any date whether it's today, last week, last year or in the future!

Hey all,
I'm designing a query that must calculate a future date based on a recorded date. Unfortunately it's not as simple as just using adddate (unless I was using Excel!). Here's my requirements:
Future Date = [StartDate] + 45 business days
I am able to take weekends into account, but haven't been able to figure out how to bring holidays into the equation. I have an existing holidays table that I am using for another query within the database (calculates # of business days between 2 existing dates).
Hope this makes sense... I've been staring at it all day so I may not be thinking clearly anymore.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am building an Access database for a client. It is an employee staffing database. With that being said they would like the ability to automatically populate the "T2PPCD" date field based on what is entered into the "Report Date" field. (Same table)
The date is the Monday after 180 days from the report date.
I already know how to get it to auto fill 180 days from the "Report Date" but I'm not sure how to tell it to give me the Monday after 180 days.

I am trying to find a simple way to determine the work date based on knowing the Start date and how many days ahead I want the date for. These means I need to exclude weekends and holidays.
I tried Pat Hartmans solution located at
[URL]
I discovered that the function in there that is supposed to do this does not account for weekends, only holidays.

I have a database which stores information relating to club members, which I'm in the middle of giving a bit of a facelift and one thing I want to automate is the calculation of the expiry date.
My memberships expire annually at the end of December and the expiry date is set as a default value within the table properties. This has to be manually changed every September (every new member from then pays for 15 months) to the following December.
Is there a formula I can insert in the defaul value field that will return December the current year if todays date is between January and August, and December next year if todays date is between September and December?

I am dabbling in updating an existing database.Currently our staff enter data via a form and I have this set up using the below script to automatically complete the "Due date" field with a date 5 working days ahead of the current date, saving them from having to manually enter this date each time.
Code:
Public Function PlusWorkdays(dteStart As Date, intNumDays As Long) As Date
PlusWorkdays = dteStart
Do While intNumDays > 0
[code].....
This then updates the value on the relevant form object using the default value "PlusWorkdays(Date(),5)" to give a date 5 working days ahead. the problem I face is that due to our business process at 15:30 each day our due date needs to change to 6 working days from todays date rather than 5. I was wondering if there is a simple way I can modify the script to add an extra working day when the local time hits a specified point (15:30 in this case), unfortunately this is a bit outside my abilities currently!

Querying a field for a number of days from today's date but not had a lot of luck finding how to query this from a date in the future.
Currently I have as criteria for the relevant field:
Code:
<[Period Start (dd/mm/yy - less 5 years from financial year end)]
which prompts for a parameter but using this I have to figure out the date 5 years from the future date first and then enter this.
Surely there must be code that allows me to simply enter the date, in the prompt and this then shows me data of 5 years or older equipment!?

I am learning Access fairly quick, but still a newbie and stuck on an autofill problem. I have read everything I could find and it seems there may be code involved, which I'm not sure about.
The problem seems simple enough: I want to populate field "Rate" in the table "Services" based on the selection from a dropdown menu referencing ClientID in the Clients table. Specifically, my form uses a drop down menu to select ClientID for the Client table to associate with fields in the Project table and I have imbedded another form at the bottom which contains fields from the Services table including the Rate field I want autofilled based on the ClientID selection. Here are the tables and fields I'm working with...
...table...
Client
...fields...
ClientID (PK)
Rate
<and more>
...table...
Project
...fields...
ProjectID (PK)
ClientID
<and more>
...table...
Services
...fields...
ServicesID (PK)
ProjectID
Rate
<and more>
Please be easy on me if this is a simple problem. Thanks!!!
