Tables :: Code To Refresh Sharepoint List Links?

I found 2 examples of code to refresh my attached table link to sharepoint lists.

I have a scheduled task open my Access 2010 db and an autoexec macro runs and closes the db.

My problem is my tables disconnect from sharepoint 2010 and the update fails.

I added the code I found to a module and added a line in my macro to run the code. Now I cannot get the code to work.

Am I at least on the right track? I just want to know before I spend many hours getting this code to work.

I think part of my problem is that I have a regular table that I add a txt file to that is not linked to sharepoint so I need to exclude it from the code.

Tables :: Change In Sharepoint List Not Taking Effect?

I am importing data from a sharepoint list on to Access 2007, as linked data where any changes I make on Access is made to the list and vice versa. However, I recently made a change to one of the column types and this change is not being made on Access. I have changed a column type from choice to single line of text but I still see the list of choices when I access the list on Access 2007.

I have refreshed the list by right clicking the linked list and pressing refresh list. The list is set to not cache the list and is not set to work offline so cannot see why the change is not being made. I don't want to mess with the list be removing it and re-adding it as I have multiple queries set up which are being fed in to an excel file I use to create reports from the data. I have no knowledge of VBA, so there is none of that being used on Access.

Code To Link Tables - Overwrite Specific Links

I searched and couldn't find anything on this specific issue.

I'm on the verge of designing a pretty big database and I've run into what may become a bit of a problem. There will probably be several backends in different locations. Should another backend ever be created or if the location for one changes, the user can use a form to refresh the links to the tables on that specific database.

The way I've done this so far is by having a piece of code that checks the tables for a connection string. If the table has a connection string, its a linked table, so the link gets deleted and replaced with the new link. Well this will no long work since there will be several backends and only 1 of them may need its tables relinked and using that code will delete all the table links, including the good ones.

Is there a way to make 'DoCmd.TransferDatabase' overwrite table names instead of giving the duplicate tables a number suffix? I think that doing this would be easier than retrieving the table names from the new backend and comparing them with the linked table names in the frontend so the old links could then be deleted.

Tables :: Date / Time Field In Access 2010 Modified In Sharepoint List

I have a table in my Access 2010 Database with few date/time fields. I have set different formats like Short Time, Medium Time etc. But when I link this table to Sharepoint list, all the date/time fields have been modified to their default format (General Date).

Is there a way we can keep the formats as such even after linked to Sharepoint list? If not, is there a workaround?

Problem With Refresh Links

Hello,

I have a splitted database. I have moved the location of these files to a new directory and when trying to run the refresh links, I get a warning for each table.
Is there a way I can avoid this?
I run the Linked Table manager utility but get always the window "select new location for table....". Considering that my program has a lot of tables, is there a way I can get around this problem? Thank you.

Queries :: Crosstab Query And Cache List Data (sharepoint)

My data is on Sharepoint. I have a simple Crosstab query that works well unless I choose the option "Cache List Data". In that case I get a Type Mismatch error.

Queries :: (Enter Parameter Value) Error When Updating SharePoint Table / List

I have a list (table) that I've created in sharepoint 2010.I link to the sharepoint table with Access 2010 to update mass amounts of items at once. Some of the queries have no problem updating the sharepoint items, but other queries require me to "Enter Paramater Value."

In this particular queries; I'm trying to populate field A with dates from field B, when field A is null.

UPDATE Table 1 SET Table.[FieldA] = [FieldB]
WHERE (((Table 1.[FieldA]) Is Null));
--------------------

When I run the above, I receive the "Enter Parameter Value" input box.All records have Field B populated (it's actually the created date.)

The goal is for field A to be populated with the values in Field B, without the query asking for parameters.

Note; I can go in each individual record and update them via access, one at a time. But it's the running of the update query that failing.

General :: Multi Users Making Synchronous Changes To SharePoint List In Citrix Environment

I currently have the following setup for my database which is working as desired when only being used by one user at a time:

Front end: Access 2010 database in Citrix
Back end: SharePoint List

The problem is that only one user can open the Access Database at a time since this action locks the database for other potential users. The locking occurs due to this link to the back end SharePoint list.

allow multiple users to update the SharePoint list through the access database at the same time?

How Do I Make A List Of Links To My Reports?

I am using 97 and have been running into problems with tutorials from microsoft since they are in 2000 format. Its not a big difference so maybe I just cant figure it out...

Anyways, I wanted to make a list of the reports I had for the user to click on one and have it pop up. Anyone know how I can make this list?

My idea is to somehow create the names in the list box using a query or something and have them be links to the report somehow...

General :: List Of Active Links Populated From A Query

I have a main form (in a single form view) that show a record from a table. I am going to add a sub form (probably a continuous form view) which can show a list of fields (probably a name) from all records from a child table that match condition PrimaryKey = ForeignKey.

What is the best way to make the list of the fields sort of clickable so that I can click on any of them and e.g. open a form with information about a child record? Should I look for hyperlinks in reports, a list box, a continuous sub form with records?

Tables :: Sharepoint Linked Table Uneditable

I'm just starting out to learn SharePoint, which I utterly hate thus far but anyway. So I have successfully linked to the sharepoint list in my DB, but I cannot edit any values for some reason. I can edit them in sharepoint and both systems update, but when I type in ANY box in access I get "Invalid arguement" error.... also note the new record button near the record navigators is greyed out so I can't add a record either.

I noticed that my library user group has URL... set to Read while all others are set to full control... is this the cause or something else?

I have a PATIENT TABLE with PAT_ID Autonumber / Primary Key.I want to set up an Invoice and a Receipt. I know the fields I need. how many tables I should create and how they should be linked PROPERLY.

INVOICE TABLE would contain (field names and data type):
Invoice_ID Autonumber / Primary Key
PAT_ID Number (as the link to the Patient Table)
Invoice_Date Date/Time
Invoice_ Contact Text
Invoice_SentDate Date/Time
Invoice_Paid Date/Time
Invoice_Comments Memo (not to be printed on invoice just info for me)

I'm working with a form someone else created and am adding a delete button. I've managed to add the button and get some code working which will delete a record from a table. The problem I'm having is that after the delete operation occurs all fields in the form, and the corresponding items below the form, show #Deleted in all fields. How can I force a refresh using code?

Refresh After Code Runs On Activate Or On Load

Access 2007, Sql Server 2008 R2. Problem with refresh.

Form 1, (Single Form) Parent Form, contains Property Year Detail data. PK = PropYrDetID. This is a SINGLE FORM

Form 2, (Single Form) Child form, contains land square footage data from multiple records. PK = SPYDID FK = PropYrDetID. This is a SINGLE FORM.

The code below executes every time Form 1 opens, activates or whatever. The reason is that data in Form 2 changes frequently. Thus every time Form 1 opens the end user will see the latest data.

"Form 1" receives a series of values that it obtains from VBA code that runs when it opens or activates.

"Form 2" has the data being summarized in Form 1.

All of the code and queries below run fine and return the correct values from Form 2 to Form 1. My problem is Refresh on Form 1.

I've tried the code in the On Current, On Activate, On Load of Form 1. Mostly the data shows up in Form 1. Other times parts of the data are left out. I have to hit F5 or close and reopen the form, and then the data appears. When I don't see data on Form 1, I check the underlying table and the correct data exists. I don't know how to achieve a 100% refresh success. I have tried me.refresh and different Events all over the place.

All of the code below runs when Form 1 opens. Queries are fine, Equations are fine, Tests run fine. It's the results showing up that I am having the problem with.

I don't think the issue is with the code but with the Refresh. Here it is for your review.

The term "Equations" is the customers. There are 5 equations. Some have a series of tests after the Equation to determine the result.

List Box No Refresh

:confused: I have a listbox which using "Table/Query" RowSourceType lists all records in table of Access 2003. The Add Record button clicked, a new record will be inserted to table, and then requery listbox.
But it's so strange, the record already existed in table, but listbox still doesn't refresh after requery, I have to presss F9 several times to refresh manually. The update record button clicked, the listbox doesn't refresh too, but when I check the value of the row, the value is new value, but ths listbox on screen shows old value. for deleting, has the same problem.

So I'm not sure, if this is a bug of Access, or I missed something have to do. I already tried many way to solve this problem (sleeping, check if updated listbox, etc), all of them aren't work well.

Please give me a help!!!

Add button and ListBox on same Form. Add button captures text fileds and insert a record to database, ListBox just display all the records after click Add/Update/Delete button. Refresh A List Box From Another Form.

Currently I have a Tabular view List (of text boxes) populated from a query.

What I am looking for is a way to refresh the list. I presumed me.refresh, me.requery or me.repaint would work, but it doesn't.

If I open, then close the list it refreshes. So presumably I could close then open form for an update, but that is crude and there must be a way to do it properly?

The user navigates between two windows (client list *name and age*) and (Client info *in depth info and history*) they click on a record in the list and are taken to (client info) whereupon they can edit or add a new record. The records that are updated do so without a hitch, however the new records do not update in the list.

Queries Using Tables W/o Links

I have a query where I am trying to set the where criteria expression using an unlinked table. The unlinked table name is INV DATES. The criteria field is [THE_DATE]. I cannot really link the fields for the two tables since I am using an expression. This design works, but it goes really slow.

Any ideas?

Creating Links In Tables

Hi all.

As i'm still what can be called a "newbie" in MS Access, maybe one of you wizards
can help me out with this.

I'm having a product table in ms access, containing a few columns. The regular stuff (type, ID, ..).
It also contains a column i want to store the links to their documentation to, called "download'.

The fields of that table are loaded into a data access page.

Now the data access page is loaded into the frame of an HTML page. Everything works well, but when it
comes to the download-field, i get no link, but a piece of code instead.

Now these links are relative links (not absolute ones). What i'm searching for (for quiete some time now), is a way to make the links show as normal links.

Is there anyone who could give me a hint or who can help me out with this?

I have a table called "EquipmentRequired" which is populated by 4 append queries,

5000BaseReq, 6000BaseReq, 6000IFBBReq, EquipmentReq which get some of their information by counting fields in another table but all have the same field names.

The queries contain all data that is initially used to append new records to the table and this works fine.Unless some information changes or a record is added then I would like to add a button to a form and call it "update equipment" behind which would run a vba code firstly to delete all the records in "EquipmentRequired" table then run the 4 queries without the warnings and re-populate the table.

Is There A Way To See The Links Between All Tables, Queries, Reports?

I was recently doing a little Spring Cleaning in my database and deleting old tables and queries that were no longer used or had been for experimental purposes. Unfortunately, I unknowingly deleted a query that was being used by a report I still needed and it took me several hours to find and correct the problem.

Not wanting to repeat this mistake, I began searching for a way to display my reports, queries, and tables and all the objects each is linked to. I thought it would be nice, for instance, to have a hard copy list of all my queries that showed where they are derived from and what other objects reference them. Is there a way to do this?

I've tried using the "Relationships" button and working with the Documenter, but I haven't found what I'm looking for. I have also tried a Google search, but, admittedly, I may not be using the proper terminology to get good results.

Relative Links For Linked Tables

Hi,

I'm buliding an access system in which the forms and tables stored in seperate databases as such:

forms: \serverdirmyDatabase.mdb
tables: \serverdirdatamyTables.mdb

myDatabase has a load of linked tables from myTables. Problem; my network drives are mapped differently from the users, so the links do not work for me.

So - does anyone know how I can set up a relative link, so myDatabase looks for datamyTables? i.e. it looks from the source directory rather than checking the whole path back to the root?

Do Links To External Tables Ever Get Dropped?

Once external tables have been linked to a database can the links ever get dropped accidentally.

ie should I test for missing links and recreate them programatically or assume that it will never happen?

It is easy enough to identify links which are present but any code which loops through the tabledefs will only identify links which are present.

I think the best approach, if this is necessary, would be to count the number of external links, compare the answer to what it should be, and refresh all the links if theree is a difference.
