This is my code.

=DLookUp("[ItemDescription]","MasterData","[BarcodeID] = " & [Forms]![frmMasterData]![Barcode])

I have a from called "TakeOn". The from is based on a table, called "tblTakeOn" with fields ID, Barcode, ItemDescription and SerialNumber.

In the form "Take On" is is a combobox named barcode, that looks up the bacode values from a table called "MasterData".

The "MasterData" table has only 3 fields, ID, Barcode and ItemDescription.

I want to in the "TakeOn" Form to, in the ItemDescription Field, display the ItemDescription from the ItemDescription value in the 'MasterData" table.

Access displays a circular reference error message.

SAVE Dlookup Value On Form To TABLE

I have created a frmOrder form that uses autofill fields using dlookup when a company name is selected from the cboCompany combobox.

However!

I noticed that the value that has beed retrieved from dlookup function are not stored in the table (tblOrder).
How can I achieve this?

I have written the code in the control source of the field (in this case: LastName field) in the form like this:

=DLookUp("[LNamePIC]","tblCompany","CompanyID=" & [cboCompany])

The DLookup works fine, just I want the value to be stored in the table. Please help me ! I have been browsing the internet for the whole day and i can't seem to find the right solution!

I have a simple data entry form based on a table. However I have a few fields that I do a lookup in a field on the form from a query, and yes I know I should not have a lookup in the control source however, this is the way that I will be doing it on this occasion.

=DLookUp("[Salary]","[Salary Query]")

How I get the value from this unbound field to enter into the actual field in the table. Do I bring the actual field into the form and hide, and do some sort of after update, as I have tried and it does not work.

I have called the unbound field with lookup "Salary Level Base" and the actual field in the table is "Salary Base".

Reports :: Populate Table With Price From DLookup In Form To Total In Report

I am working with a database that I downloaded and am trying to modify to fit my needs.

This is an inventory database. The products table contains a description and pricing. I want the description and pricing to populate in the Purchase Order form, so I added Dlookup fields in the Purchase Order form. I was happy.

However, the pricing information is not populating to my Inventory Transactions Table from the Purchase Order form by way of this Dlookup feature, and therefore will not show on my report, and in turn does not show in my Total of my Purchase Order report.

As a work around, I tried creating a calculation in the purchase order report, of =[UnitsOrdered]*[Products.UnitPrice], and the pricing totals show fine on my report, but the subtotal doesn't work.

I was unable to upload my file...so a few notes of info...

There are no queries set up in the database for this report.

I had tried a sorting grouping thing (in the Report) by Subtotal, but now can't get rid of it.

When I show the field list for the report, across the top of the window reads:

SELECT DISTINCTROW Employees.*, Products.*, [Inventory Transactions].*, [Purchase ORders].*, Suppliers.*, nz([Inventory Transact

I am trying to attach a couple of images to support my comments.

DLookup - Using Two Form Fields (Number And Drop Down Text) To Query Table For Data

Having problems getting dlookup to work in the control source field of a text box.

My form has fields : Catalog # (numeric value) and Country (drop down text selection).

I would like to query a table CatNameList for a name (text) if the catalog # and country find a match on the table.
My field names on the CatNameList table are : Name, Number (to validate against the Catalog # entered on the form) and CName (to validate against the Country drop down on the form).

I am successfully able to populate the name from the CatNameList table on my form using lookup of the catalog # using this :

=DLookUp("Name","CatNameList","Number = Form![Catalog #]")

However, I will eventually have several catalog numbers that will be identical in the table CatNameList, thus why the country is important as the second criteria to be added into the dlookup.

I have tried for a few hours unsuccessfully to add the second portion to my dlookup.

This is what I have currently (not working) that I have been playing with, I'm sure I'm missing a quote mark, & or something simple.

=DLookUp("Name", "CatNameList", "Number = Form![Catalog #] And CName = ‘”& Form![Country] & ”’”)

Using DLOOKUP With Tables Only

In the attached Word document I have a screen shot showing the fields for the "Membership" table and "Class table." I am working exclusively with tables, no forms.

In the Membership table, I will enter a numeric value in the Class field. In the Tuition field, I want to use a DLOOKUP, which would look to the class column next to it, take that value as a lookup number, then go to the Class table (second screen shot) and locate that lookup number in the ClassID field, find the corresponding value in the Tuition column, then drop that result in the tuition field of the membership table.

Example:

In the Membership table, I enter 7 in the Class field. The tuition field should automatically return $160, because in the Class table, the classID 7 corresponds to a price of $160.

I tried setting up the Tuition field in the membership table as a calculated field, then I entered a DLOOKUP in the expression box and received an error.

Is it possible to do this type of Lookup?

Dlookup (Too Many Tables Open)

I have never some across this before but my database keeps throwing a "Too many tables open error" which has taken me a day to get to the bottom of. I believe that the use of a dlookup in one of the queries not cleaning up after itself.

The issue I have now is that even importing the tables into a new database causes this problem as i guess I'm inheriting the same table id issue.

Does anyone know how to clear the table IDs that the dlookup left open ?

Secondly, could anyone suggest a more robust method of looking up one value from another table. Basically I need to look up the USD to GBP rate (one value) for every record in an other table. I cant use a join (trade ccy->fxrate ccy)as there is properties to link on. Ive tried the elookup function I found on the net but performance is still an issue.

Any help is appreciated

Using Dlookup To Cross Reference Between Two Tables

I'm new to access and need to modify an existing database to get a report I want to create. I'm an Excel user and could accomplish what I want to do in seconds using Excel's Lookup functions, so I'm trying to do the same with Access Dlookup.

I have two tables in my database that tracks components in a hardware product. The first table is just a list of hardware units shipped. The second table is a list of various components (and versions thereof) used in each unit. The two tables are linked by a UNIT_ID field. I need to create a report showing each unit and what the various versions of the components are. My difficulty is that the component table is does not have a dedicated field for each component and each unit can be comprised of a different quantity of components. So the tables look something like this:

UNITS TABLE:
ID Customer
1 Joe
2 Bob
3 Bill

COMPONENTS TABLE:
ID Component Revision
1 Main Board A
1 Blue Board B
2 Main Board B
2 Blue Board B
3 Main Board A
3 Red Board C

I want to produce a report that looks like
ID Customer Main Board Blue Board Red Board
1 Joe A B --
2 Bob B B --
3 Bill A -- C

I setup queries to get revisions of each Board and am trying to compile into the full report, but can't figure it out. Right now I'm trying to use Dlookup to lookup data from one of the queries and insert into a larger table. I can lookup a single value fine, but can't figure out how to get Dlookup to give me the Blue Board & Red Board values for each of the system ID numbers in a master query (which would be a snap in Excel).

Create Table Of Different Columns In Three Tables Join To Form A Master Table?

I have three tables that contain different columns but linked by a primary column call Name. I want to create a table where all these different columns in the three tables join to form a master table which can be updated regularly either through the master table or the smaller tables. The master table also has the primary column as Name.

If I update the master table with records, it should update the respective linked table and vice versa. I also want to link these tables to my SharePoint site.

Note: except the Name column, none of these tables have any other columns in common How do I go about this?

I have three tables: Vehicles; Vehicle Reallocated; and Vehicles Retired. I have a form that runs a query to find all the info in the Vehicles tbl that is not "Retired", not visible in the form. I then have the option to toggle to a Reallocated or Retired form. When i toggle to the reallocated form, i have the like fields in that table (ie Van #, Vin, Make etc) pulling the info from the hidden subform with the vehicle query, so i do not need to fill in repeat data. However, when i add a reallocated date and the new clinic that vehicle is for, i get the record ID for the vehicle reallocated table as expected, but when i save none of the data moved over from the query saves in the record?

How to get all the data on the reallocated form to save?

I have a table called "WorkRequest" consisting of some fields such as WR Number, WR Date, WR Time, WR Requested by and WR Work Requested.Once a work request is completed, I want to open a form called "JobCards" from a table called "JobCards". When I click on the pulldown box for the Job card number, it lists the "WorkRequest.WR Numbers" which is what I want.

My problem is: As soon as I select the WR Number and it displays in the jobcard form in the JobCardNumber field, and I press ENTER or TAB, it must automatically populate the corresponding fields on the JobCard Form. These fields are defined identically in bot the "WorkRequest" and the "JobCard" tables.

I have two tables each containing fields Brand, Form, Area. Table 1 has some other information that needs to be gathered (data entry) and Table 2 is just a reference table for changes to these areas. This reference table has an additional field labeled area point value which is the value I want to "print".

The form is based off of Table 1 and has all of the fields I want the users to input. Stripped down, I have three combo boxes for the user to choose Brand, Form, and Area...I also have an unbound textbox control where I want the area point value to based off of the value of the three aforementioned boxes.. I believe this can be achieved with a lookup but I've never actually used a lookup in a control this complex before...

I'm pretty familiar with getting values from a table via Dlookup. What I want to do is almost the reverse if possible? I'm declaring a variable as follows:

This is from a form.What I'd like to be able to do is go to the table [list], reference the lead ID in the table via the variable then change the field [status] to "INCALL".Can this be done in a similar way to Dlookup?

I am having an issue with DLookup, which, for some reason which I do not understand appears to missing the first record in the table.

What I am trying to do is to extract the e-mail address of all users who have 'Admin' status to the database. In the table ('LogIn') there are 3 users who have 'Admin' status and this is confirmed by the DCount function in the following code. There respective ID values in the table are 1, 49 and 51.

Yet when I run the Loop to get all e-mail addresses it misses ID 1 and just returns records for ID 49 and 51.

I have tried changing other users status to 'Admin' and it finds them but always misses the first record.

Here is the code I am using:-

i have 2 tables.. 1 with bookings and 1 with a BonusPeriod range.

in the Bookings table there is a field called [ServiceDate]

in the bonus table i have a field called [Period] which is text i also have 2 dates, [StartDate] And [EndDate] i need to Dlookup the Bonus table to return the value of the period table based on where the [ServiceDate] falls.

i dont want to use VBA (i really need it to work within a query that inserts it's data into another table)

Normally I retrieve a certain value by Dlookup("myvalue", "mytable",...)

or

strSQL = "SELECT myvalue FROM mytable...;"

Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset(strSQL, 4)

But is there any faster way to retrieve a single value from an SQL-server table, beside doing doing the select by a stored procedure running through a pass through query, then open a recordset

Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("mypassthroughquery")

just to retrieve ONE value?

I could not find something like DLookup("...) for an SQL-Server or in T-SQL.

General :: DLookup - Resetting Sequence Number In A Table?

Occasionally a user of mine needs to reset a sequence number in a table.

A few months ago I made him a simple app that has two text entry boxes and a button. The first text entry box uses a dlookup:

=DLookUp("sSessionNumID","qryGetAPIsessionLastValue")

...the other textbox ties to an update query, which updates the sequence number with the new value supplied by the user. Simple.

Then about a week ago it stopped running the dlookup part - nothing shows in the text box that is to show the current sequence num.

Oddly, if I enter a value in the update text box and press the button to update the sequence number (which still works) -- the previously dormant dlookup textbox now shows the new value - so it works ...it just doesn't want to work on this one workstation unless the update query is run first.

What can this be? The update button merely calls a DoCmd.RunSQL with both an insert (storing old value locally in ms access table) and an update (updating the sql server table's seq number using an ODBC DSN and sql server driver).

It's almost like the dlookup falls asleep now and won't wake up until the update is run...

I would like to make a DLookup that check 2 criteria in two different columns in the same table. The reason to use a DLookup is that I would like to check if two parts already have been linked together. The user therefore selects two values in to different comboboxes (lstLinkPart and lstLinkToPart). In this case the value of the first combobox is column: ComponentPN in tblProductLinkComponent. For the second (lstLinkToPart) column ProductPN, in the same table, has to be checked.

If both values from the comboboxes match the values in both (and only) columns I don't want to continue and made a code to be executed.

I found multiple examples on the internet for using multiple criteria but something similar to what I require.
