Tables :: Duplicate Results In Count Queries?

Feb 18, 2013

I have a table with a field 'FName'. I have run a query to count the number of each Name in this field. However, as well as having a blank field with 9129 results (which was expected) but another with 24 results that appears to be completely blank as well. There are another couple of incidences were results in 'FName' are appearing twice.

how to identify what is causing this duplication?

Queries :: Duplicate Results For Some Of Records In A Query

Dec 3, 2013

Why I am getting duplicate results for some of my records in a query. I have unique values set to Yes. I have also validated that the tables I am using don't have duplicate data. SQL is below.

SELECT DISTINCT [tbl_Rewards Activity Report - By Member Number].[Member Number],
[tbl_Rewards Activity Report - By Member Number].[Last Four],
[tbl_Rewards Activity Report - By Member Number].[BAL ID],
[tbl_Rewards Activity Report - By Member Number].[Primary Name],

Queries :: Count Duplicate ID Numbers

Sep 15, 2013

I have the following code and I am trying to show a COUNT of duplicate ID numbers, so for example

ID ID_COUNT
2000 2
2000 2
2001 1
2002 1
2003 1

Code:

SELECT [DaisyServiceData-Import].*, Companies.CompanyName, Company_vs_Services.[Tariff Code], IIf([ClashForce]=True,"",IIf([ClashOveride]=False And [ClashClear]=False,IIf([DaisyServiceData-ClashExc].[DaisyServiceData-Import].[ID] Is Null,"",1),"")) AS ClashExc, IIf([Sell Price]="","",IIf([SellRateForce]=True,"",IIf([CompanyName] Is Null,"",IIf([SellRateOveride]=False And [SellRateClear]=False,IIf([Total Cost]>[Sell Price]+0.001,1,""))))) AS SellRateExc, IIf([Tariff Code]='1',[T1Rate],

[Code] ...

A GROUP BY query will not work for me as the recordset needs to remain updatable.

Queries :: Select Count Duplicate Values By ID

May 23, 2013

I am using Access 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop. I need a query to provide a list of ID's that have more than one occurrence of IDandDate combined but haven't been successful getting past syntax errors.

Using this table structure as an example:
ID - defined as text field
Date - defined as date/time field
TestValue

This legacy table contains a record for each test. The table should be unique based on the ID and Date combination but was never restricted to that rule. I am converting to a new table but need to identify the duplicate entries so they can be addressed by business folks.

Access 2010 query.

Queries :: Update A Query Based On Results From Another Query Using Count Function

Apr 2, 2013

I run a physical therapy office and patients come in for treatment either 3, 4 or 5 times per week. My database is used to track these frequencies (among other things).

I have 3 queries which count how many patients come in 5, 4 and 3 times/week.

In my main table I have fields called "how many 5's", "how many 4's" and "how many 3's".

I have tried to design an update query which will update those fileds in my main table to reflect the counts in the 3 queries mentioned above.

(I'm not using SQL view, I'm using the query design view)

In the "update to:" row, I use the Build function and locate the count I'm looking for.

Problem: when I run the query I get the error: Operation must use an updateable query.

Queries :: How To Query Two Tables And Compare Results

I have the training records data table, this lists; who, machine and status: "trained" "refresh required" " not trained"

Queries :: Matching Two Tables With Count

Jan 20, 2014

trying to create a query in which I can select a count across two tables with matching postcodes.

Table 1 : Address database with column called 'STRIPCODE' (e.g. ME8, ME9, ME10)
Table 2 : Area Code table; each column has a list of area codes to match to the STRIPCODE column. (e.g. MEDWAY column will have all of the relevant area codes)

I would pretty much want a count of each match as below :

STRIPCODE
MEDWAY 650
BLACKPOOL 563
HULL 352

Have a few hundred areas to match and tired of going through these manually and entering counts!

Queries :: Count Matching Postcode Between Two Tables

Sep 1, 2014

I have two tables, one being an 'Address' file and the other an 'Area' file which is a list columns ranging from 1-400 with groups of district level postcodes. For Example; column 1 will have postcodes such as BN1, BN2, BN3, BN4, BN5 etc. Each column has a separate group of postcodes.

Now, my 'Address' file also has a column within this labelled 'District' in order for me to create a straight join (between column number and District) in a query to count each group individually, but of course, do to this 400 times becomes quite tedious! (to say the least)

I would require the outcome to be as follows :

Area file - Count
1 - 469
2 - 201
3 - 0
4 - 3598
5 - 268
. - 101
. - 8936
. - 563
399 - 287
400 - 41

Queries :: Getting A Text Field Count From Multiple Tables

May 16, 2013

I am working with 4 tables and I am trying to get a count of the email address field in each table grouped by Email Group Name. I tried the dcount function but returned an error because some of the email addresses have an apostrophe in the field. Is there a way to do this in 1 query? This is an example of the result I would like:

EmailGroup/TtlEmailSents/TtlEmailsOpened/TtlEmailsClicked/TtlFormSubmits
AAA 50 30 15 10
BBB 100 75 50 20
CCC 60 25 5 1

Tables:
Emails Sent
Emails Opened
Emails Clicked
Form Submits

Field Names in all tables:
Email Group Name
Email Address

Field I want to count is Email Address for each table, grouped by Email Group Name.

Is there an easy way, in a single query, to list unique company names that exist in 1 or all of the 3 tables?

Queries :: Multiple Tables In Database - Inverting Results Of Select Query

Feb 5, 2015

I have a question where I need to effectively invert the results of a select query.

I have multiple tables in the database, but the 2 I'm looking at are TBL.Trip and TBL.TripDiary

A trip is logged in the trip table, and then an operator logs a diary entry against the trip. One of the options that the operator selects is when they receive an email back from the traveller, this is logged as a diary entry.

I need the query to look at the DIARY_Action field and select all records in the TBL.Trip that DO NOT CONTAIN an entry for Diary Action "4".

I can produce a select query that gives me the results to see all trips that HAVE had a response, with a simple IS LIKE "4" query in the action field.

If I change this to IS NOT LIKE "4", I get the results that I need, but duplication due to the various other "diary" entries in the table".

I simply need the inverse of the IS LIKE query but cannot see how to remove the duplicates?

Duplicate Results In Query

Jun 25, 2007

I am using a database created by someone else, so I don't know if this is a table issue or a query issue. I create my query pulling information from an established table, and I get duplicate results. The database is intended for use as a timecard where all of our employees can record their time and we can track the projects that they are working on. So, what I mean by duplicate results is that we have tasks and subtasks for the time card and for each entry, when I pull it up in the query, it is duplicated for each task. In other words, if there are nine different tasks in the table and the subtask is "robotic testing", it will be repeated with all of the nine tasks. Like I said, I don't know if it is the table that has a problem, or if it is me. I am a super beginner and I don't know much at all about access. Please simplify your answers. Thanks!

HAVING (((tblCustomers.Type)="P") AND ((tblCustomers.InspectionDate)>[Enter starting Date:]))
ORDER BY tblAgentList.AgentID, tblAgentList.AgencyCity, tblAgentList.AgentID;

It list all agents sorting by AgentID, with a line for each order.
I would like to list each agent once with the number of times ordered, and then sort by AgentCity. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance!:D

Delete Duplicate Records And Unite Results

Sep 24, 2013

I know this probably has been asked a 1000 times but I don't seem to be able to edit the uncommented VBA-codes I found online to work on my database.

I already ran a query that shows me the duplicate records of my original table. Now I m looking for a way to

a) delete all duplicate records (not just specific ones by using a criteria) and
b) unite the unique records (result of a)) with the original ones that were not displayed with the "find-duplicates-query" ....

Query With No Results (Zero Count)

Jun 26, 2006

I have created a query to count the number of records that are "Pending" over 3 days and I am putting the results total on a form. This is working fine when there are >0 records found, but my problem I can't seem to figure out is how to get the form to display "0" in "Text5" when NO results were found in the query.

I have tried everything, but all I get is a blank form when NO results were found. I have attached the database so you can see the sample of what I am talking about. Just run the 2 forms to see the difference.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong or how I can get a Zero Count query to show up as 0 in the text field on the form.

Also there are screenprints here (http://listenloudly.com/AccessDB/samples.htm) of both scenerios:

Show Count Query Results On Form

I have a form that I am trying to show in a text box the results of a count query. The query has two fields in which one is a check box. The criteria for the text box field is set to true to list all that are checked. I want the query to show all the records that are true. This works if I run the query, but the result isn't showing in my text box on the form. On the form text box properties in Control source I have =DLookUp("[Run Number]","Control Room Drumctqry"). Run Number is the field that I am counting, Control Room Drumctqry is the query. Any idea as to what I am doing wrong?

Example:
"Column One" and "RepeatCounter" are fields in a query.

Column OneRepeat Counter
Value 11
Value 21
Value 31
Value 12
Value 13
Value 32

I want to create the outcome in the field "Counter" in an Access Query. I am a novice in Access VBA. I found I can do it in Excel with the formula CountIF. I am unable to do it in Access.

I need to count records based on multiple criteria from two different tables. I have two tables (i.e. "tblTasks" and "tblTaskHistory"). I need to know how many tasks have been "reopened", the "reopened" status is located in the "TaskStatus" field in "tblTaskHistory". I need this count against a unique listing of employees which can be found in the "AssignedTo" field in "tblTasks".

Queries :: Using Count And MIN Together To Retrieve Only MIN Record With Count

Aug 16, 2015

I have a table that has 5M+ accounting line entries. Below is an example of one accounting journal in the table.

BUSN_UNIT_IJRNL_DJRNL_ICNCY_CMONY_A
CB0014/07/20140002888269323AUD16797
CB0014/07/20140002888269323AUD-16797
CB0017/07/20140002888269323AUD16797
CB0017/07/20140002888269323AUD-16797

The journal ID above was an accounting entry, debit $16,797 and credit $-16,797. because it was entered as a reversing journal in the system, the table has captured the Journal ID with 2 dates. For my purpose i only want the one date (MIN) date, the total amount of the journal (either the debit or credit amount 16,797) and the total number of lines the journal ID has so in this instance I want the count to be 2 and not 4.

Right now this is what i get

BUSN_UNIT_I JRNL_I CNCY_C SumOfMONY_A CountOfJRNL_I MinOfJRNL_D
CB001 0002888269 AUD 0 4 4/07/2014

This is the output i would like

BUSN_UNIT_I JRNL_I CNCY_C SumofMONY_A CountofJRNL_I MinOfJRNL_D
CB0010002888269323 AUD16797 2 4/07/2014

Im thinking with the total sum because theres debits and credits is there a way to do the absolute value of the journal MONY_A then divide by 2?

current SQL
SELECT [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, Count([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I) AS CountOfJRNL_I, Min([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_D) AS MinOfJRNL_D, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I, Sum([One Year Data Lines].MONY_A) AS SumOfMONY_A
FROM [One Year Data Lines]
GROUP BY [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I
HAVING ((([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I)="0002888269") AND (([One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C)="aud"));
