Tables :: Exporting OLE Objects Fields To A Folder And Save These
Oct 25, 2013
One of my tables has a couple of OLE Object fields. This has embedded Word, Excel, and PDFs. I'd like to know if there is a way to export these to a folder. Ideally, I'd like to save them with the record id and then a dash and then the file.
The fields are Attachment1, Attachment2, and Attachment3
When I view the table for these fields, if it's a word doc all I see is "Microsoft Word Document".
I have a few selected reports on an Access 2007 database that users can run. Is there a way for users to view the report, save as a PDF and automatically save a copy to a shared drive by modules/vba coding as an On Click event procedure?
:o:confused: I'm desperately searching for a way to synchronise different copies of the same access 2003 database i created. I have tried brief case synchronisation, and I have also tried the replication manager that comes with access but they both haven't been much help. My experience with them leads me to believe that they both work best with a LAN or internet connection. I'm seeking a solution that will work without a LAN or internet connection. Something that will copy my tables and other required objects to a folder that i can copy and move to another pc where another copy of the database resides. It should then import the same tables and objects and hence synchronise the copy of the database. I recently saw a visual foxpro database that has the kind of synchronisation solution i'm looking for. I think it works this way;it exports all the tables and necessary objects to a folder that it creates allowing you to copy or move this folder via portable storage device to another computer. It then synchronises by importing the tables and other objects from this folder into the database resident on that computer. I think there might be a way to do this using macro's or VBA but alas my knowledge of these areas of access is very weak. Is there a way to recreate this functionality in access 2003 using VBA code?
This has happened to me several times in the past. I make minor changes to a report and when I go to save it or close it out, it asks, "Do you want to save changes?" Of course I say yes and it just sits there, not closing out the report tab. The only way around it that I have found is to re-write the report, from scratch.
It works however I need a space between the date and the folder. But when I use "", it tells me path doesn't exist. get a space in the name when creating the folder.
What is the correct way to save the values in a listbox column to the fields of a table? I can use rec("field1") = Me.list16.ItemData(Varitem)and that records the bound column to field 1 but how can I save the unbound columns to other fields in the table?
We have a server that we use to run a Microsoft Access application. This application creates folders, subfolders and files on the server.Users are in 4 different offices. Each office has at least 3 computers. Some users also work from home.
Users creates file through word, or scanning a document or by saving an email on their local pc.My problem is that users need to be able to save a file to a specific folder on server.
Many years ago I created a database that has one embedded image for each project.
I am now redoing this db in 2010 format and I want to extract these images and save them in a folder so I can link them to the new db based on the project ID number
The table is [Project main], the unique project ID is [R&D ID#] and the image file is stored in [Item image] as an OLE object. i would like to save them to C:db images
I have a table with an attachment field called email, where a .msg file is stored for each record. Looking for code to save this contents of this field in a folder in my drive.
I am currently working on a main form in Access 2010 which includes quiet a lot of fields, therefore i choose to create parts of it (which are as well optional, as they do not apply to all records) as different forms which i linked to the "mother" form afterwards through a checkbox by using the following code:
Private Sub chkMajor2_Click() Dim strformname As String If Me.chkMajor2 = True Then strformname = "Major 2" DoCmd.OpenForm strformname, acNormal End If
[code]....
to make the next form visible for selection after filling in the current one...something like an "add more.." field actually, which i choose to represent as checkbox.The issue that i encounter is that when i click the "Add New" button in the main form, it doesn't clear also the fields in the linked forms. Is it possible to do that with a VBA code? Or how should i proceed?
The current code that i have for the button is:
Private Sub cmdNew_Click() DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec End Sub
Hi everybody. I got a query that displays object name and object type of access 2000 db. Unfortuenly it dose not display the linked tables objects(linked to tables in acccess 2000 db). could an expert tell me how i can fix this query so it displays linked tables object as well.Thanks
SELECT MsysObjects.Name AS ObjectName, IIf([type]=1 Or [type]=6,"Table","Query") AS ObjectType FROM MsysObjects WHERE (((Left$([Name],1))<>"~") AND ((Left$([Name],4))<>"Msys") AND ((MsysObjects.Type)=1 Or (MsysObjects.Type)=5 Or (MsysObjects.Type)=6) AND ((MsysObjects.Flags)=2097152 Or (MsysObjects.Flags)=128 Or (MsysObjects.Flags)=0 Or (MsysObjects.Flags)=16)) ORDER BY MsysObjects.Name;

I'm trying to automate a process of selecting a set of file/s and move them in a folder. When I click on a button, it should open a current folder that is setup in the code.
Lets say that I have a folder C:documents est, and very time I click on the button, it should open the dialog box with that path so I can select the files from another folder, drag them there and they will be saved in that folder.
This will form part of wider automation that will send an email stating that those file/s where placed in that folder.
I have in the same form where the button is placed, 3 check boxes that needs to be passed to the email as well that one or all the files where placed in the folder.
I'm trying to open a folder based on a BIN nr. This folder could be in a main folder that has diferent subfolder. As there where differnt naming used to create the folderes, one of the things they have always is the BIN nr. It alwasy start with a unique number and maybe I could use it to scan the subfolders and open that one that the BIN nr is equal as in the field BIN.
Now we have serveral 1000th of folders and finding them takes time.
I have an historical database table that contains information relating to soldiers. Additionally I have many photographs, and other documents appertaining to these individual soldiers stored in folders on my PC hard drive and I would like ideally, to be able to have a link from my database to these other items, so that when I open a a soldiers record I am able to click on a link that will take me to a folder containing the photographs, letters and further documents relating to him.
However this is where I am at a loss as to how to proceed, and how I could have this facility, I run Access 2007 by the way.
I have a table with the fields username, password, userlevel, blocked, name.
I want to be able to export the fields username and password to a text file in the format of: USERNAME1|PASSWORD1 USERNAME2|PASSWORD2 USERNAME3|PASSWORD3 USERNAME4|PASSWORD4
Can anybody help me as i am not sure on how to do this! Thanks in advance Aden
I have a few dozen Excel workbooks in a folder, and I'd like to import all sheets in each workbook to Access as linked tables. I have the following macro that creates linked tables from every sheet within a specific workbook, but I'd like to apply this to all workbooks in a folder.
Code: Sub ImportAllSheets() Dim wkb As Excel.Workbook Dim sht As Excel.WorkSheet Dim xl As Excel.Application
I have a query that is displaying exactly the correct results. However, when I export this to a text/tab delimited file (or even and XLS file) it truncates the memo field to 256 characters in the export file. I am sure it has something to do with this memo field being defined in part by a custom function. Below is the query and the function. The field in question is the "Formatting(First(description_text)) AS prod_Description" column. Any thoughts? Note: I know that if I don't perform the "First" on this memo field, during the group by, the query would truncate this to 256 characters becuase it has to be in the Group By clause. But by using the First function, this field does not need to be included in the group by and there for the query does not truncate it (even though the exporting does).
SELECT ProductList.cin_id AS prod_ID, Formatting([desc]) AS prod_Name, "" AS prod_Flag, "" AS prod_OverrideName, "" AS prod_SortName, Formatting(First(description_text)) AS prod_Description, "" AS prod_Bullets, ProductList.mfr AS prod_Mfr, "" AS prod_itemSort, "" AS prod_ProdGroup, "" AS prod_SubprodSequence, "" AS prod_Layout, "" AS prod_BaseProductID, "" AS prod_ItemSubheadAttr, "" AS prod_Keywords, "" AS prod_URL, "" AS prod_Type FROM ProductList GROUP BY ProductList.cin_id, Formatting([desc]), ProductList.mfr HAVING (((ProductList.cin_id)<>''));
I want to export the results of a query to Excel. All of the fields in the query are number fields. But when I export to Excel, the fields are stored as text. In fact I get the error message "number fields stored as text" in Excel. Why this is happening?
I have a form with 4 combo boxes. Box 1 is linked to a unique indexed field of my main table and does not allow duplicates.
Is there a way I can enter selections in the other 3 boxes and save only those 3? (these do not add data, but edit an existing row in the main table)
Experimenting, I found that if I didn't make a selection in Box 1, I could still make selections in the other 3, close (save) the form, and it would make those 3 edits in the table row belonging to the value that was in Box 1.
This is kind of what I want, except that there are many selections in Box 1, and if I select one of them and close (save) the form, I get an error message that a duplicate entry will be made?
Would a possible solution be to have Box 1 on a main form and the other 3 on a subform? If so, how do I set this up? Or is there another way to relate the other 3 boxes to Box 1, and only save the 3.
Private Sub Command150_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Command150_Click Dim stDocName As String stDocName = "ENGINEERING-GRADUATED" DoCmd.RunMacro stDocName Exit_Command150_Click: Exit Sub Err_Command150_Click: MsgBox Err.Description Resume Exit_Command150_Click
End Sub
This is what I am using to export from access to excel. It works great! Many thanks to Mwalts and Colm. How do I go about exporting data to specific fields in excel?
I'm trying to export an access 2000 table to a text file. The table doesn't have a primary key, but one of the fields is indexed (contains duplicates ) and sorted. For some reason, access ignores the table format and exports it not sorted.
I have a Combo Box that contains two fields, the key field (StudentId) and another field (StudentName). As recommended by the Combo Box wizard, I'm hiding the key field so only the StudentName displays in the box. The wizard also allows me to save only one of those fields in my table so I chose the key field (StudentId). Problem is, I need to store both the fields in my table. How do I store the two fields from the Combo Box in my table? I'm new to Access so I don't really know VBA that well.
