I want a field to take its value based on another field's combo.Example;i have a checkbox field called "Loan" "Yes/No" and i have another textbox filed "Status" (which will hold eligibility). I want the Status to read Eligible when the checkbox is No and Non-eligible when its Yes

I'd like to copy checked records from one tale to another after a user presses a button.
Ex.
The table 'Equipment List' has a checkbox column that the user can check off as they scroll through the table on a form. When the user presses a button, after they are completed with all of the checkboxes, each checked record is then copied to 'Equipment Transactions' to keep a record of which pieces of equipment were used for the day.
I would like to work with a field "record number" like: "ABC01-01-2013A1".Standard data types do not allow for this possibility.I would also like the date updated itself automatically and the number incremented A1, A2 until A9 then B1

find a place where I can set the field conversion for linked tables or to make Access to performe the better type conversion (if the field is integer on source table to be integer on linked table as well and so on).
I'm using the OnLoad event of a form I've got as a placeholder to load a report from the onclick event of a button on my continuous form, and loading a chkbox into the code as a string variable. For some reason, when the DB automates the procedure, I get a 'Type mismatch' error appear, but when I step through the code using F8 it works.
when I press F5 after the code has stopped I get the 'Type mismatch' error. The chkbox contains a value of '-1', and I've used debug.print to return the TypeName and VarType values, which were 'String' and '8' (which I took to mean 'String') respectively.
There are other variables being declared in the code, and I commented out the whole lot and put each one back in individually before running the code as a process of elimination, and the checkbox was the one that threw up the error again.
Code:
Dim Prod1stSend as String
Prod1stSend = me.chkProd1stSend
We are using the code to determine whether our clients have been contacted by us before, as this will decide which report is opened. I've tried setting the variable as Boolea and Variant too, and both of those still throw up the same error.
I am creating a table that is a master list of all of my company's product. Each "customer" that we have will always be ordering the same items, but not all of the items that we have available. I need a way to go through the master list and click a yes or no and have that item added to the "customer's list of items on a new table.
I need to create a sublist for each "customer" like individual shopping cats for each customer. These individual lists need to link back to the master list in case of product changes, description changes, and cost changes.
I would like to create a form where the end user can type in a product number, description, or manufacturer number and have that item added to the "customer's" list.
I have a table with about 300,000 records. About ten fairly small fields per record. I am trying to change the length of a text field from 25 to 40 characters, and I get the error message, 'MS Access can't change the data type. There isn't enough disk space or memory'.
I have never seen this message before. I have about 64 Gig of free disk space. What can I do?
I have encountered an issue when I was inserting a string (with newlines about 176 characters) into access table. This field in access has the data type TEXT and it was truncated after the insertion. It is strange because I have three other fields with the same format and no truncation at all. May I know what could be the reason and how/what is the recommend data type for storing long text?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHello to everyone,
I have a colleague who executes a make-table query that reads a txt file. While doind this, he wants to convert two columns (binary format) to checkboxes (Yes/No format). Is there a way to do that?
Thanx in advance
I have 2 tables both linked to SQL Server 1 has policy information and the other has error information both tables are linked with the relationship policy Ref. The error table(table2) has fields Pol ref, Error_Type,error, Comments, response_comments and response_Date.
There are 25 types of error so what I have done is copy all fields from table 2 25 times exlcuding the policy ref and Error_Type but to make them relate to the relevent error I need to setup some VBA code that does an if Error1_checkbox is ticked then make Error_Type ="error1" and Error=1 else if error1_checkbox is unticked then make error_type null(blank).
I am using ACCESS 2010....
I need to import an excel spreadsheet into an existing Access 2003 table. Due to regulations, the spreadsheet cannot be linked.
When I try to import the spreadsheet, I receive a 'Type Conversion Failure' associated with a 'Product ID' field. In the Excel file, this column is populated with two types of values-- either a 9 digit number, or a 9 digit alpha numeric value. The 9 digit numbers import correctly, but the alpha numeric values fail.
Field names/layout in the excel spreadsheet are identical to the Access table, and the field type in the existing Access table is set to 'text.' There is no set Format, or Input Mask.
What I could change with the existing table to make this import work? I'd like to avoid importing a new table, as this would force me to recreate a number of relationships after each import.
Im constructing a form with check boxes next to names. Id like to have the checked names input serially into a single table field like:
IssuedTo
Name1, Name2, Name3
There are 8 possible Names. Is there way to do this without a long complicated If-Else-Then function?
i wanna to insert a new field in the table ... which fill automatically with the date in which i modified the data in this record ...and then i'll insert this field in a report
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to export the Table Design Structure:
1) Field Name
2) Data Type
3) Description
Into a Spreadsheet.
I was able to do this a long time ago, but can't seem to remember. I'm using Access 2000.
Thanks!

I am trying to change the data type of a field in a table from calculated to something else. It gives me the error "this data type cannot be changed once the field has been saved"
Is there any work around to this?
I'm new to programming with Access but am attempting to create a new field in a table with an new date based on existing fields in the table.
The current fields are [Frequency], integer, [Risk], text, [Last Audit Date], date/time, and the new field is [Next Audit Date]. [Frequency] is a calculated field based only on [Risk] and is equal to "5" if [Risk] is "Low" and is "3" is [Risk] is "Medium" or "High", and [Frequency] is blank if [Risk] is (thus far it has never been empty).
What I need the new calculated field to do is return "N/A" (or blank, or anything easily separated really) if [Frequency] is blank, or if [Risk] is "Low" or "Medium". If [Risk] is "High", [Next Audit Date] should be equal to [Last Audit Date] plus 3 years. When I try to save the code, I get this message: "The expression could not be saved because its result type, such as binary or NULL, is not supported by the server."
This is my code now:
IIf(IsNull([Frequency]),"",IIf([Risk]="Low","N/A",IIf([Risk]="Medium","N/A",IIf([Last Audit Date]="N/A","N/A",[Last Audit Date]+Year(3)))))
I have a field in a table that is comprised of mostly numerical data but some records are text.
I want to convert this field to numerical only and make a new field to put the textual data in.
However converting the field will delete the textual data. What is the easiest way to convert the field but save the textual data AND append the textual data to the SAME record that they were in originally in the new field?
I have a table with a field with names set to text data type and i want to change it to number data type but when i do it in design view the data get lost. I want to know if there is a way to convert the data in the field as number type and keep the data in the field.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am creating a database to keep up with the expenses for my art business. I have a table for Vendors with a field (Mileage) for one-way mileage that I enter manually (EX: 11.8 miles). Then I have a calculated field that basically just multiplies the Mileage field times two to get total mileage to and from my house to vendor location. (Total Miles) {The reason I want to do this this way right now is because I didn't keep up with my mileage this year and I am having to look up the distance from my home to each location)
Then I have a "supplies" table where I show the date, the vendor, the item, cost, etc, and I want to add a Total Mileage field based on the calculated Total Miles field in the Vendors table that will automatically populate based on the vendor of each transaction. I just can't remember how to make this work and I know just enough SQL to be dangerous.
I have started work on a database to track the many (several hundred per annum) projects my company undertakes. A 'main' table lists projects, their fees, their key dates, their project numbers, etc. I have created another table for tasks. Each task is assigned to a project (via the project number), and may be 'open' or 'closed'. I have separated the tasks table from the projects table as there may be several different tasks for each project. It is also good to keep a record of the tasks.
I want to prepare a report from the projects table that lists projects IF they have any open tasks.
In my mind, this means 'If a task, with the corresponding project number, is open, put a 'Yes' in the 'Tasks open' field of the Projects table.'
I am using calculated field as a data type in access 2010.
They are working fine.
However, I added a new field and now the final calc won't work.
I have Subtotal adding loads of fields together. Works fine.
Then I have a VATunit field which is a double integer, so enter 20 and my next field is VATTotal calculates the SubTotal + the VATunit by doing (Subtotal/100)*VATunit. This calculation is fine and gives me the correct amount.
The next field is a Total field. Which adds Subtotal and the VATTotal together. Howver, the Total is the same as Subtotal. It is not adding the VATTotal to it?
Within my table if Field 1 has an answer of Self (from drop down), then, I would like Fields 6-12 to auto populate; however, if Field 1 does not have an answer of Self, then leave Fields 6-12 blank.
I am not quite sure how to lay this out. I am using Access 2010.
Access 2010 - In datasheet view, some of my yes/no fields display according to the format set in design view (yes/no, true/false, etc., or -1/0 if no format specified). But a few fields that I have added since originally creating the table show up as check boxes.
I cannot find any discussion of how to force the checkbox display or even figure out where that is specified. This same behavior carries over to DS forms as well.
How can I specify a checkbox display style instead of Yes/No etc?
I have a table "LightDuty" with a field [Email Sent] that is a YES/NO field.
I do not have a checkbox on the main form for the [Email Sent]; instead this field is checked (in the table) when the user sends an email to the receipient. I use the [Email Sent] field as a criteria for my query.
I need to uncheck the checkbox when the user changes the date in a field called [Drs Excuse Exp].
This is what I have tried (in the AfterUpdate event of the Drs Excuse Exp control):
Code:
Dim db as DAO.Database
Dim rs as DAO.Recordset
Set db = CurrentDb
Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("LightDuty")
[Code] .....
I get the runtime error 3265 "Item not found in collection"
