Tables :: How To Get Access To Check For A Condition In A Table
Apr 25, 2014
I'm relatively new to Access 2010.
I want Access to look in one table for a certain condition, and if it is true to autofill text in a different column but I've never done this before.
Specifically, I have a column in a table that is named "Letter Received" and another named "Letter Received Unsigned" which is in date format. I want Access to write "N/A" in the "Letter Received Unsigned" column if there is a date entered in the "Letter Received" column.
I am wondering, is it possible to have a were condition for a button to a table? I want to click the button, close the form I have, and open up my sales table, and have it have a were condition to be like what I have for my form
Code: ="[EventID]=" & [lstShows]
I have that for the form, and it works, I am just not sure if I can use that for a Table. that "code" us being used in a openform macro. If there isnt a way to use a macro, how about VBA code?
I want to Autofill one of the field in my form, by checking specific conditions in my database. Example of which is as below:
1. Date of Maintenance : 2. Loom No. : 3. Component Replaced : 4. Component Type : 5. Latest date for same component replacement :
I want to autofill the Sr. No. 5 in the form itself by checking database, and if Sr. No.2=Sr No.3=Sr. 4, then latest date should be autofill in Sr. No. 5
Say, A component was replaced in a Loom on 01/01/2013 & again after six month same component is replaced on 01/06/2013 so while filling up the form, In sr. no. 5 latest date 01/01/2013 of replacement of same component in same loom should be pulled from data base.
--> check to see if two fields matches e.g (qty=qty_completed)
--> if all records in recordset meets the above condition then run update statement
I want to put this code inside Form_Close. The code that I'm using checks the two fields for the condition and runs the update statement if condition is met. Problem is this a continuous form and I want all records need to meet the condition before it execute update statement.
I have a report base on my table. Here a check box. I wanna show two label text hide/show base on when check is true or false. It will be when report will be open. I have try this but nothing is happened.
Code: If AffecteAc= True Then affected.Visible = True general.Visible = False End If
I have 2 tabels, Docs and People Each table has about 15 check boxes to further specify the doc/user. -in tblDocs which groups of users this document is intended for and -in tblPeople which document the user should be trained in and a tickbox if training has been completed.
e.g. if tblDocs chkA is ticked then all people that have there chkA ticked should be trained in that procedure, if tblDocs chkS and chkE are ticked, all people that have either chkA or chkB in tblPersons ticked must be trained.
What I'm looking for is a query that can can check this on a form.
I know how to set it up so that all values from a form with all details of a person are transferred into a query, but I just cannot work out how I then check the tblDocs for documents that do NOT have the corresponding boxes ticked. In other words, I'd like to see if people have been trained in all documents they should have been trained in.
Background: In my Access FE, I have created a "linked table" to a file on our AS400 database. I know I can check the MSysObjects table for the linked table name, but sometimes the file actually does not exist on the AS400.
The file can be in one of three states.File exists with data.
File exists, but is empty.
File doesn't exist.
Question: What is the best way to determine the status of this linked table (file)?
I've created a database with entries corresponding to different participants in a tasting experiment. All the entries are stored in a single table. The participants are each members of a family, with participants of a family given a family number (increments with family) (see image link below).

I want to be able to check that for either 'Mother' or 'Father' of 'Child1','Child2', etc. within the same family, the location within the sweet, sour, bitter column is the same.
(I'm asssuming five queries will have to be run, one for each of the flavours).
To reiterate, I want to check for example if 'Mother' and 'Child1' within 'Family Number' 3 taste 'Bitter' in the same place (Which they do - 'Middle').
I would like that when the user opens the form and adds a new record the combobox showed the row immediately following the condition defined in the previous record.
For example.
First time that I open the form I select the combobox the condition A. Second time that I open the form the combobox automatically selects the condition B Third time that I open the form then the combobox automatically show me the condition 3
I am designing a project in which there is a form and on that form there is a textbox and Browse button. With browse button you can select a file from the dialog box and that file path will appear in the textbox. This part has been done as below:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() ChooseFile End Sub Sub ChooseFile()
Dim fd As FileDialog Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
[Code] ....
Now the next Part i.e Part2 in which we have to see the references present in Column D of the "Summary" worksheet of the workbook whose path is present in textbox1 and check if they match with any of the references in field "Ref" of the Access table named tblLiterature.
If value in column D matches with Ref field of the Access table then change the status field of the Access table to the corresponding columns A,B,C named as "Withdrawn","Obsolete","Updated". that means if the column A of the corresponding Reference is Y then change the status field to "Withdrawn". If column B is Y then change the status to "Obsolete" and if column C is Y then change the status to "Updated".
Please see attached the workbook as this kind of workbook will be searched against Access table .
Now i want to write VBA code to check sheet name "Summary" in that workbook and check if any of column D value matches with Access table tblmain field "Reference" values. If yes then change the status field of tblmain to "Yes".
In sheet 1, In column A all the Batch numbers are present. So I want to check if each of these is present in Access table named "tblmain". If its present then display its corresponding Policy number in Column B of attached workbook.
i have a database in access 2003 when i open it with access 2003 it shows data in table but when i open same table in access 2007 it shows only header rows , no data
how can i see this data into access 2007 or excel 2007.i want to link these table data with excel 2007 or access 2007 but with above problem i can't do it
See attached the Workbook. I need to check the policy Numbers in Column A of all the sheets in the attached workbook if its present in Access Table. If yes then write the corresponding ScanDate and BatchNo from Access table to columns I and J of all the sheets. I need to write VBA code to perform it.
In the attached workook, only Sheet1 contains the data but in actual there will be data in 5 sheets in the workbook.
I need to make a filter by using Macro in Access 2010..So in "Where Condition" I should put an expression belong to the poth of the fields. I now how to use "Where condition" but only for one field like below :
I want to update a table called tblFinalOrder, that looks like this:
In particular, I want to update each column separately with the number 1 taken from table tblSAP_XWP_SW:
My problem is that Access doesn't properly update the table how I want. I join both tables using an INNER JOIN on the SAP number. In the column AEMenge you see some 1's. So what he should do is writing these 1's into the appropriate column in my tblFinalOrder table. The condition is that the SAP number must already be in my tblSAP_XWP_SW table. If he doesn't find a 1, then skip it.
Here is my code so far. This one should update column "DynaCT". The funny thing is that DynaCT isn't available in my columnlabel column but he writes a 1 anyways (or in this case anohter number, I was playing around with it). This is what I don't understand.
Code: UPDATE tblFinalOrder AS a INNER JOIN tblSAP_XWP_SW AS b ON a.SAPNr = b.sapxwpsw_sapnr SET a.DynaCT = 1 WHERE a.SAPNR IN (SELECT sapxwpsw_sapnr FROM tblSAP_XWP_SW);
I mean, he should only write the 1 into the specific column of table tblFinalOrder, if he finds the SAP number in tblSAP_XWP_SW and if there is a 1 in this line in column AEMenge.
I'm in need a of a check-in/check-out application for my company. We have about 550-600 employees at any given time and our turnover is about 20-30% per year. Our check-in/check-out process requires our employees to personally visit between 30-40 areas in our company (personnel, safety, credentials, parking, insurance, etc) within the first month of employment. This is currently done manually and is a huge drain on labor, especially when check-in sheets are lost, misplaced or, in some cases, forged.
I'm looking to build a database that would be intranet based, password secure (by check-in area) that would allow the new employee to present at a particular check-in, check-out site, complete that portion of the check-in/out process and then allow the person responsible for the check-in/out to enter the status into the database. At any point in the process, I would want to know the status of the person checking in/out (how long they've been checking in/out and what portion of the process have they completed).
I have a macro set to email a form to a person once a condition is met. This works fine but I've discovered that Outlook (2010) has to be open BEFORE this macro is invoked.
I wanted to add a step to the macro before the one that makes it email that basically says to open Outlook.
I have tried the RunApplication macro, but I apparently am not getting the path right. I don't understand what the problem is.
I accidentally dragged Outlook to my desktop and therefore created a shortcut from my Start Menu, but now when I go to Microsoft Office in my Start Menu, Microsoft Outlook isn't one of the options. I can't find the path to where it may reside now.
I am using the path to the shortcut on my desktop.
I have a form that has a listbox and a subform. The listbox lists names of events, start date and end date. The subform bellow reveals names of participants to the event that is clicked in the listbox. Against each participant's name is a button to delete the participant. How can I hide or disable the delete button if the start date of the event is past?
I am pushing some data to Excel from an Access query. When the data is in Excel I reformat the sheet by changing the fonts, applying borders and cell formats - I have got all of this to work fine.
The one thing I am struggling with is applying conditional formats. I am pretty sure it is something to do with incorrectly referencing the applcation/sheet. An extract of what i think to be the key parts of the code are below.
.... Dim ApXL As Object Dim xlWBk As Object Dim xlWSh As Object ...
Set ApXL = CreateObject("Excel.Application") Set xlWBk = ApXL.Workbooks.Add ApXL.Visible = True
create a check on a feild(customer id) of customer table in MS Access , as "Customer ID is of 8 characters, the first 4 are alphabets and the last 4 are digits"
I am very new to Access and Visual Basics. I am trying to write a VBA code to do the following."If any table(s) exists in the current db, drop all the table(s)."
Basically, I am trying to drop all existing tables.
