Tables :: How To Make Table Not To Fill Entire Screen
Nov 11, 2013
No matter how much I maximize or minimize Access (2010) my tables fill the entire screen. This happened once before but I don't recall the fix. It was something very simple. How to make the table not fill the entire screen?
I have a field that contains 12 numbers. I need to replace the middle four numbers with a character so that the entire number is not readable. How do I do that?
Assignment Info: Assignment ID (Primary Key) Assignment Number Criteria Number
Grades: ID (Primary Key) Student ID - Linked to [Student ID] Assignment ID Criteria Number Grade
What I would like to do is be able to link the tables in such a way that for each student entered in the Student Info table, entries are automatically entered into the grades table for each assignment criteria.
For example: Assignment 1 has criteria 1.1, 6.3, 7.2, Assignment 2 has 4.2, 3.3
When John Smith is entered in student info, the grades table is automatically updated with 5 new entries in the form:
John Smith - 1 - 1.1 - Enter Grade John Smith - 1 - 6.3 - Enter Grade John Smith - 1 - 7.2 - Enter Grade John Smith - 2 - 4.2 - Enter Grade John Smith - 2 - 3.3 - Enter Grade
That way I can have a form that automatically shows the possible criteria for each assignment on the sub form for each available student without having to type it in each time.
My problem is I have two tables. One of the tables was made specifically to draw information from to populate the second table. The second table has a combo box that draws information from one of the fields from the first table. What I am hoping to do though is have each selection from the combo box in the second table to draw different information from another field in the first table and use that data to populate another field in the second table.
Simplified: Combo box in Field (1) on table two has multiple selections that I want to autofill the data in Field (2) on table two based upon the selection of the combo box. Data from both fields in table two would come from two different fields from table one.
I have tried to work with the After Update button in the After Events section on the ribbon at the top; however, I am simply lousy with coding. Is there an easier way to do it other than using that option?
See my 2 attachments. I put the Pop-Up property on the form. that worked but still not what I want.
On the HATT attachment do you see how it opens in the middle of the screen? And the other opens at the top right, (and has that tab at the top right that says frmMain)?
how do i made the airwatch open in the middle? like the other screenshot?
i have a user permission table.that consists of PermissionPK, UserFK, CompanyFK. I also want the username to be automatically filled in?So when a user ID is filled in on the table, it also fills in what that UserID's Username should be?As i need both the UserId and Username text for code that looks at the Environ username.
I have a master list of projects, with project reference number, project name, and nature of project.
I have also got a form for individuals to fill in details of project events, with date, time, name, and two or three other fields - also included are project reference and name. I'd like the name field to be auto filled when the user selects the project reference from a combo box; I think? (the list only shows open projects).
I'd did something similar some years ago in Access 2003 (I think) but cannot figure it out in the version I'm currently using 2010.
We have a button running a SQL query via VBA, how can I make it so the results doesn't show up in a table/preview?Also, I know it's for the SQL forum but how can I make a text box to show the results of a query to display it on screen?
I understand right off the bat if you're reaction is "don't duplicate data!!" -- mine would be too (don't fret, I know my normalization).
I've linked a table in my db to my Global Address Book in Outlook 2007 and, upon entering an employee number as a new record, would like to verify that the number entered is listed in the GAL and then pull in the associated name and location info.
The key is that I don't want this info to rely on the GAL going forward. For example, if an employee leaves or is no longer listed in the GAL, I don't want to lose the employee info (past data is needed for audit purposes). Note: I will be creating a report later to show if there are discrepancies between the GAL and my table, but that's another story...
So, what would be the best auto-fill options in Access 2007?
I have what is probably a stupid question but I've been struggling with this one for a while. I have an ordering database which has an Orders table (containing Order ID, Date, Supplier etc) and an Order Line table within which I have a combo box for Product name, supplier, price, VAT rate, Line price etc. At the moment, I have the order line table as a subform within the Order form (run from the Orders table). The problem I'm having is the subtotal and total fields. At the moment these are in the Order Line table as I cannot figure out how to get these in the Orders table. In summary, can I make a calculated field in one table that calculates values from another table (linked by Order ID)?
Hi, I've been working on a database to keep track of employee time off, It consists of the main table, a employee table, and a department table.
I had a form that our admin uses to enter the info for each employee.
They would select the name of the employee from a drop down, and then select the department that employee is in from another drop down. then they would select the days off and reason ect. Then when finished they would hit submit and this would be entered into the main table.
Well they just asked if it would be possible to make it so when they enter the employee's name, that the department would automatically be filled in for the employee.
Is this possible? I'm trying to think of how to do it, but not coming up with anything.
I have a complex series of calculations to perform, and I have found the best way to achieve my end is to create new tables by the Make Table queries.
The trouble is I have many tables to create and the downstream tables refer to the previously created tables; I have recently discovered that queries perform much quicker if they are indexed (duplicates OK). I've looked at my tables created by the MakeTable queries, and they all seem not to be indexed.
All using access 2010. I have a multiuser database that I feel would benefit from splitting into a backend with multiple user frontends. My problem is that there are tables from make table queries processed every two weeks that all users need access to. As far as I know; you can not put a table in the backend that you will delete and remake or a temporary table and link to it in the front end. Is there any other way I would be able to split the database and have temporary tables linked from backend to frontend that I am not aware of? Is there another way to creating temporary tables and tables from make queries? This database has 9 users and counting and really needs to be split. r
I have a replica at work, 1 copy on the network, 1 local.. I need to add a column to the main table, getting "Operation is not supported for this type of object".... I have users that use the database but was given a change to the form/report which requires a column addition. What is the simplest way to get around this??? I'm trying not to get into major problems.
I have two tables with compatible data. Table 1 has 23 records and table 2 has 5 records. I am trying to make a "make Table". But instead of a table with a combined 28 results, I get 115.
How to I combine 2 tables with the same primary key to make one table? I have seen several thigns but none have worked. I seen inner and outer joins. All 4 of my tables have the same primary key. I just want to combine all the tables to make one table. I have a form with subforms but if I can combine all the tables and work off one rather then 4 I will be happier. Every week to 2 weeks I upload new data from excel. How would I after I add the new data combine all tables to one super table?
I am developing a simple database for students to register courses using Microsoft Access 2010. I have 4 tables: Student, Register, Course, and Section (1 Course can have many Sections).
Then, there is a criteria that a student can only take up to 6 courses. Hence, may I know that where and how can I include this constraint? I believe that it should be in the Macro (Before Change) of the table Register...
My relationship is: Student -> Register <- Section <- Course
I have a table that I imported from another database. I used import Access - Link to the table source by creating a linked table. - then downloaded in my database.
I want to use the linked table to create relationships and forms but do not want to even accidently edit it. The table gets updated in the database on a weekly bases and I am hoping it gets updated automatically in my database as well. does it automatically get updated or do i have to set up something?
Also, I want to protect the data in that particular table and either password protect it or make it read only. Can I do that? If so, how?
When the user click the button, then it will give out a popup form to the screen, but I want to make the popup form's height as same as the screen/window/monitor's height, because the popup form's height is larger than the screen's height, and every user's monitor's height is different. So, I have to make it flexiable change of the height of the popup form. How can I check the screen/window height by VBA function? In Excel, it has Application.Height to check. In MS Access Form, I cannot find one for doing that.
I read somewhere that the main difference between JET AND SQL server is that a query rn through JET transfers the whole table across the network to the client machine and then processes it. Whereas, SQL server just transfers the particular record, say if you use a stored procedure. Is this actually true? What about if it's usng a SQL back end? Any links on this subject?
I have one table that will consists of about 1,000 rows. I have another table that consists of product codes that we want to exclude from the report. I know how to include the two tables by joining, but I want to EXCLUDE the 2nd table of product codes. Basically, if any of the product codes listed on table 2 are on table 1, I don't want them to appear. So how can I do an exclude function in a query?
