Tables :: How To Show 3 Values But Display 3rd From Drop Down Box
Nov 20, 2012
I have created a table (data entered/selected via a form) which includes a drop down box, for 'Ethnicity' to pick a value from another table (ie used Lookup wizard to for options from another table).
The row source looks like this:
SELECT [Lookup_Tbl_ethnicity].[Code], [Lookup_Tbl_ethnicity].[Category], [Lookup_Tbl_ethnicity].[Sub-category] FROM Lookup_Tbl_ethnicity ORDER BY [Code];
Setting the ORDER BY [Code] displays the options in the drop down box in the correct sensible order.
The 'Bound Column' is column 3 - Sub-category. I assumed that this would be the 'value' stored, searched and displayed... but the table (and related form) display the Code.
how to change this so that the Sub-category is displayed?
Hi guys, I need urgent help on a simple question. I hope you will be able to help me. I have a table CustomerMaster which stores customer number and name. (Customermaster) I have another table which stores the product details for customer. (customerProduct) I have another table which shall store order details. (CustomerOrders) On the form, the user selects a customernumber, the system then displays the customer name. The user then picks up the product ordered by customer (picked from combo box). On the combobox on recordsource I have given a select query which fetches the records matching the customer selected from table Now I want the Product Price, tax and duty of the product to be displayed for the selected product. Somehow, I have to again make that as a combobox and then select the price (although there is only one record... Can anyone tell me how to do this? Regards K
I'm sorry if this is obvious, but I have asked local professionals and scoured this site for answers before posting...
I have a database that I'm using to store and analyze language samples (basically, the mistakes that students make when trying to speak in another language). For each bit of language, I want to be able to say what domain the mistake belongs to - e.g. the 'clause', 'phrase', or 'word' domain. I have a table containing the five domains. I also have a table for each of these domains, containing the specific types of mistakes relevant to that domain. It is conceivable, but unlikely, that I will ever add to the domain table, but highly likely that I will add types of mistakes in the five related tables.
As I analyze bits of language, I will be appending each analysis (record) to a table as shown in the attached image. So far so good. The part that I cannot fathom, though, is how to display (let alone perform calculations on) this data: While the ErrorDomainID is a foreign key to the ErrorDomain table, the ErrorUnitID could refer to one of five tables, so that an ErrorUnitID of 2, for example, could refer to one thing if the Domain is 1 but quite another if the domain is 1 or 5 or whatever.
I've tried all kinds of coding and SQL workarounds, but I have a feeling I'm just missing something very basic here. If anyone could offer some guidance, I'd be extremely grateful!
Hi *,OK, still new to Access so I apologize in advance if that is a dumb question ;)I have a table "survey" where I wanna store number values (0,25,50,75,100 respectively). The user is supposed to use a form to input the data into the table. For this purpose, he/she is supposed to use a drop down box.So, is it possible that the drop down box does not show the values but instead a verbal description of these values (very important, important, average, etc.)? What I have tried was to create a table with the number values and use this table as data source for the drop down box... it shows the values but for the end user, verbal descriptions would be better...Thanks!Steve
I have a database with a drop down box that lists all of the contacts in the database. When I select someone in that drop down box it goes directly to their record.
What I want to do is be able to display different criteria in the drop down box based on some criteria. So one criterion might be everyone, another criterion might be only people with a certain product.
How would I do this?
I guess I would like something like, one drop down box selects the criteria (show all clients, or show all clients with a certain product), then another drop down box is based on that one which displays that which was select in the first drop down. Then the results in the form would display based on the second drop down.
I have created a Db in MS Access 2010 and under Options > Current Database I have done the following:
- Used drop down to select a form I want to display on opening - Unchecked display navigation pane - Unchecked allow full menus
This works how I want it to, perfectly. I then send it to a client who also has MS Access 2010 and when they open the file the form I have told it to open doesn't open, the navigation bar is displayed (with the form I want to open highlighted) and the full menus show but are locked.
What's going on? Is it some security setting the client has that isn't letting the opening procedure execute properly?
I have created a database that has both English and French forms feeding information into the same table. I'm not concerned if the info stored in the table is stored in French or in English. It all works fine other then the drop down boxes in the forms, here I only seem to be able to either have the English or the French options visible on both the English and the French form. Is there a way to have the English options on the English form and the French options on the French form, both feeding the results into the same field in the table.
I have a field in a Contacts table called Referred By. I also have a separate table called Referred By which contains a numeric ID and a value for each Referrer. When I enter data into the Contacts table, I want the Referred By field to have a down arrow so that I can select the appropriate value. The Referred By table has 2 fields -- ID (AutoNumber) and Referred By (Long Text). There are currently 5 values in the Referred By Table.
OK - I'm a bit of a novice at access and the answer to this may be very simple but any help would be much appreciated.
I have a problem getting a Combo box field in a table to link to another table and input a relevant value in another field of the same table. Here is what I've got:
Table 1 - Client Fields - CLIENT ID, CLIENT NAME
Table 2 - Client Rates (The rates charged to the client for 3 specific items that do not change) Fields - CLIENT ID, SC, LX, SX. (These last three are the codes for the items and the values in the field are the currency values for the items as they are charged to the specific client)
Thanks Table 3 - Job Details Fields - JOB ID (Autonumber for the Job), CLIENT ID (Who the job is for), ITEM (This is a combo box that selects between the items i.e. SC, LX and SX), RATE (I want this to recognise the item chosen in the previous field and display the corresponding rate for that item and for that client - This is my problem!)
I will attach the database as I currnetly have it so that you can see what I'm talking about. As I say - any help is muchly appreciated
In my form's table (tblMain), I've got a lookup field (drop-down list) that lists the primary key field from a different table (tblDiff). tblDiff includes 3 more fields. In my form for tblMain, I want to include 3 more textboxes that get filled up with these 3 fields from tblDiff when the corresponding primary key is selected in the drop-down box.
Hi I have an access database called contact.mdb and I have linked to it just fine and used the records held in it to populate a datagrid and can update and delete records.
I don't understand databases that much but I would like to read the values into a drop down menu which are held in the field 'ID' from a table called 'courses'. I have a feeling it is something to do with data sets but am not too hot on these either. Any pointers or code would be gratefully received.
I have a form (DropDown form) that has 3 drop down fields, you select your values from the drop downs and you would push a command button that runs an event procedure which runs a query (DropDown qry test). The user should have the option of picking any combination of fields to filter by. Or no combination, which would return all values in all fields. So I am basically using the form as parameter's for the query.
The problem I'm having is that my query is returning values for one field AND values for another field. Even if the other values selected are not in the same record. It's not combining the fields together to filter. For example: you pick a Project name and Supplier name, the query will return records that have the project name you selected but it will also return records with the supplier name you selected that have a different project name.
I've attached screen shots of the form and the design view of the query (the screen shot cut off the last column name. It is meant to say "Expr3: [Forms]![DropDown form]![Combo7]").
Using Windows 7, Access 2010
Is there a way to select multiple values from the drop downs?
I'm trying to create a combo box that takes its values from a field in a table, the thing is that this field has duplicates because:
* The table is a qualification look up table * It has 3 fields: QualificationID (autonumber), Qualification(e.g. Bachelor), Programme (e.g. Science) * E.g of duplicate values (this is not a problem as it is necessary) Bachelor of Science, Diploma of Science, Certificate of Science
What I'm trying to do is create 2 single-columned combo boxes that are a parameter for a query and it's working except the combo boxes show duplicated valuesIs there a way to get the query that is the row source for the combo box to eliminate duplicates?
I have an issue with a couple of my combo boxes. When in form mode the drop down menu displays a list of options (taken from my source table), this is fine, but the problem is that it allows the user to select more than one of the options in the form of checkboxes. This is not what I intended.
I've attached to pictures to demonstrate the problem. The first is ComboBoxQuery (the one with the problem) and the second is ComboBoxQueryWorkign (the one without a problem).
I'm not sure why this is happening and I've tried comparing all the properties of both these combo boxes and changing some of them to see if I can eliminate the problem without any joy.
I use a very standard SELECT statement to pull the data for the combo box:
SELECT CountryID, CountryName FROM tblCountryInfo ORDER By CountryName
I was browsing the Northwind database and notice that there is a dropdown in the table (See attached print screen). I've been trying to recreate it but I'm having a hard time.
I'm using Access 2010. I need to calculate a score based on values selected in a table by looking up corresponding values in other tables. I have a "Project" form to create new entries into the Project table (see Table 1). When I create a new project record, I will select values for the Payback and Need fields by selecting options from a list. The Payback list is pointed at Table 2 and the Need list is pointed at Table 3. In the below example, I created the "ABC" project and selected "1 year" for the Payback field and "Repair" for the Need field. Pretty simple.
Now that I have the "ABC" project loaded to my Project table, I'd like to create a report that will show a "score" for this project. The score should be calculated as follows: Payback Impact + Need Impact. In this example, the score should be 30 (Payback Impact of 20 + Need Impact of 10).
I have a form and this form shows some values from one table. One of the fields named as Key. I want to open another form and show the record that has the same value as Key.
I am able to make this with filter but the form opens and when the user navigates the record, it creates a duplicate value in related table.
I want to open form and find specific data to display and then stop at this record.
I would like to show a report's print preview in a sub form. Is there any possible way? I don't want the user to see the datasheet view of the table so I decided to put on a report.
I have searched similar posts to solve this, but havn't been able to make it work yet, so apologies if this sounds like an existing post.
On my form (frmContacts) I have a combo box (LstCompany) that lists companies. The default value is set to "N" (so this is the value when nothing is selected).
I have a query (qryContacts) that retrieves records of People and their Companies from a single table (tblContacts - this table includes the fields 'Person' and 'Company'. Some people have no company). I want this query to:
- When no company is selected in LstCompany: show all people (whether or not they have a company). - When a company is selected in LstCompany: show records for that company.
I have added the following expression to my query: Expr1: IIf(([Forms]![frmContacts]![LstCompany])="N",True,([Forms]![frmContacts]![LstCompany]))
Criteria = True
This works fine for showing all records, but the Expr1 field returns #Error if a Company is selected.
Any idea what I am doing wrong, or what will work?
How do I get the second filter to show all the values and allow me to check which ones I would like to select? I cant seem to recall how to do this. I remember having to do it a while back.
I am trying to build a database in which there is a main table and in this main table there are products and there are types of products eg.
Ringtones - is the Product and Type - True Tone(mp3), category - R&B another eg is Graphic is the product and Wallpaper is the type of graphic Category - friends .
I would like to combine this so when you are in the MAIN products table with "Code" ,"Product" ,"Type" , "Category", "Title", "Artist" and "Price" that the drop down boxes say for instance when you click on "product" and you chose ringtone then in the "type" column there are only the options from the Ringtone type and not also for graphic etc.. is this hectic to do? Hope I have explained it ok...? Thanks ! Really hope some one can help me with this ? Melissa Cape Town SA
I have an access database which import the .csv file but after importing it is creating the tables
"google_ImportErrors"
If i won't delete this, for next time i would open the database it will create the tables and follow the same sequence like stated below and it increase the size of the database so deletion must be required which i do manually.
I have a field in which I wish to post several contacts. The contacts are listed in a table and populate the specific field via a drop down. In this specific field I want to select "mary" "bob" and "fred" (all three to display) however only one is displayed.....
We have a button running a SQL query via VBA, how can I make it so the results doesn't show up in a table/preview?Also, I know it's for the SQL forum but how can I make a text box to show the results of a query to display it on screen?
