Tables :: Pound Sign For Specific Items In Notes Field
Jul 11, 2013
I'm having an issue with pound signs in my table for specific items. I've create a DB that when you click a command button it opens a form and in the form it has a notes field. In the notes field once where i had data is now pound signs.
The DB is setup so when you click another command button to close out, it saves the record. It works 98% of the time but the i'm concern about the other 2% of the time.
My teacher instructs me to make a 'multiple item form' in regards to signing in and signing out of a dentist ( my scenario)...The fields i have are : Appointment ID, dentistID, Appointment time, Appointment Date and customerID..i have created have the multiple item form and i am now displayed with the fields.
I am trying to add a percentage sign (%) after a number I get from a table, thus the number 1,5 should display 1,5% and NOT 150%.
I am using the Format Property of the text field.
I tried #,##% which converted the value to a percentage (1,5 became 150%) Then I tried #,##"%" and #,##\% Access ignored both and changed the value in the property field to #,##% Using the Format function is not an option because it is a bound field which should be editable.
So I currently have a table that tracks medication activity for patients called tblMedRanges. The Fields are the ID, StartMedication, EndMedication, Med ID/Medication Name.
In the End of Medication, some patients are not currently active so they have a set date/time field property. What I have for right now is the default value is set to
Code: =date()
So that when staff adds a new medication it is set to the current date. These patients are supposed to be active, but it doesn't update the default value. I want it to continue to update to the current date every time the database is open.
I have three options that I know of(or think I know of) to update but can't commit to one in particular :
1)I want these individual records in the field to update the current time for today and was considering using some kind of data macro code using before update.
2)The other idea I had was splitting up the field into an EndOfMedication field that would display a value only if their inactive, and an Active field (text, value list active/inactive choices) that would be used in a query to generate the current date as med field. This would take some crafty query work with comparisons later on to generate list of drugs that they were on for each visit.
3) set to text field and convert the field to date field for comparison in queries.
Just switched from Access 2000 to 2010 and now on many forms and reports where dates are displayed, you see ###### instead. I realize that widening the field fixes this but there are a lot of forms and reports in this database to go through and change all of them.Is there a setting somewhere to have the date fields display properly even if the text doesn't completely fit in the box?
In my Access app, I need to be able to retrieve a specific email by date/time, then take the Subject, the Date received and body of that email and save it to a column in a table.how to do this in Access VBA?
I have made a table for prospective clients and want to add a notes section where I can add notes when I call them or they call me with the date. I have a comment section but thats not quite what I want. I would like them to be separated by date.
I would like the "DateOfConfirmation" to populate with today's date when "SSurvDiagThisYear" is Confirmed.
The DateRecordCreated is a simple =Date() that populates when the record is entered into the table.
SSurvDiagThis Year is the case outcome - Pending, Probable, or Confirmed. It is possible that the case could be confirmed on the same day it was entered into the table but that is RARE.
I am hoping for the The DateOfConfirmation to capture the date the case is confirmed so that I can gather some duration between the case being opened to confirmed.
Let's say I have a table sort of like this one: [URL] .... (Table 1)
What I want to do is make another table that references the first table: [URL] ... (Table 2)
I want the cells in the Average field in Table 2 to calculate an average of all the values for records in Table 1 with Color fields that correspond to the Color field in Table 2 (this makes a little more sense if you look at the pictures). I could do this in Excel, but then problems would arise whenever I would add a new entry to the database, or re-alphabetized the data, since Excel math is depends entirely on the positions of cells, and I want these averages to be continually calculated correctly and to change whenever I add related records to the database.
I have the below code behind a form so that a combo box will display a specific list of items based on the data in another combo box on my form.
I have two copies of this same form for two different departments. One of the forms works like a dream. However, when I copy that form, change the name, and update the code as pictured below, the form is asking for a parameter FROM MY ORIGINAL FORM and will not requery the combo box. I can't figure out why...there is no reference to the original form in my VBA as you can see below. I tried deleting the form and re-creating it, I tried deleting the code and re-typing it to no avail.
Private Sub cmboType_AfterUpdate() Me.cmboAction.RowSource = "SELECT tblStatusList.Status FROM tblStatusList WHERE (((tblStatusList.Department)=[forms]![frmInquiryFraud]![cmboType]));" End Sub
I have a database housing insurance policies, agents and groups(schools that have the policies). Currently, we call groups and put a "note" on a policy. This is a very basic database. I created a field called "notes". The callenge I have with this field is that only one note can be contained. Therefore, if we call several times the dates and note information all go to the same field. Any suggestions on setting up some type of table that would allow multiple note fields? how would I link the table to the main information table?or another approach? Any suggestions would be helpful.......

I am trying to pull my information together for printing and also sending attachments. I have a field whose type is set to memo.
I have created 2 select queries, one pulls all of the information together except for the memo field, the other pulls the OrderID and the memo field. I then created a 3rd select query which merges those two back together (This is the only way I have been able to get this to work in the past).
Now, whenever I run the query, the notes field is trashed... All that is displayed is a few strange Chinese characters and that's it.
Someone please help with this, as it is a very big problem. Thanks!
I have a form containing two memo fields - Fld_Note and Fld_History.
What I was aiming for is that when someone enters info into Fld_Note, that either automatically when they leave the form - or when a button is pressed - the text from Fld-Note is copied to Fld_History and date stamped.
Any future notes are also date stamped and appended to the info in Fld_History (ideally most recent first) so that users have an audit trail in Fld_History of what notes have been added and when e.g.
20-05-2014 Contacted group treasurer regarding transfer of funds. 19-15-2014 Application for grant funding approved. 12-05-2014 Grant application received.
I have a query that holds data based on a field. If the field [Device In] is "TimeStation-1" in TblTime for example it holds "AV" in the field [House]. Trouble is some fields are blank and when this is so I want it to pull the last two letters from the [Notes] field. I have attached the database. The query is [QryDeductionsandSleep Ins].
I know how to create new table in Access by linking to Outlook contacts. The problem is, the default NOTES field in the Outlook contact does not show up in the linked Access table. Every Outlook Contact field shows up with the exception of that one field.
I have code which is attached to onclick of a checkbox,
What I want it to do is if the user clicks it and checks it then to add some note to a memo field, if the user clicks it and its already checked then it doesn't add a note to a memo field.
Code: Private Sub Check45_Click() If Check45 = 0 Then Check45 = 1 If Len([Forms]![Customer]!Notes.Value & "") = 0 Then
[Code] ....
But I can't seem to add any other lines which make sense to me that it doesnt add "letter sent" to a memo field if its already checked?
Hello,I have been examining an Access application and it has menus and several menu items under the headings of those menus. (I could call them as well "Application-Specific menus" as they contain shortcuts to the forms inside the application, such as "Offers>>Prepare a sales offer" , "Definitions>>Customers & Locations" , or "Definitions>>Series & Models" and so on...)In View>>Toolbars>>Customize, selecting the checkbox of that menu,I can make those Application-Specific menus appear also in design mode.So far so good, but....if I'm able to make them appear in design mode, I should also be able to "edit" them, right? But I simply can't edit them. For example, I can't seem to pull the menu item "Definitions>>Customers & Locations" and put it under the "Offers" menu. (so that a new item called "Offers>>Customers & Locations" is formed)Well as an Admin, I 'm supposed to do it, as one the users suggested that it be more effective if the menu item "Customers & Locations" stood under the "Offers" menu. So, how can I edit my "Application-specific" menu items? Thanks.
Hello, I have just spent ages doing searches and reading everything I can on locking. But, I have yet to find an answer as to how I can lock a specific field in a specific record.
e.g. Staff enter customer details, then at the end of the day the admin (me) checks it over and presses a big old button that stops them from locking certain fields in the current record only - they must still have access to the unlocked fields of the current record, and it must not lock any other records.
I'm guessing there's some VB code in the form of fieldname.lock = true, but then it locks the field throughout the whole table!
I've been running into this problem in Access. I have records which have more than 255 fields. The easiest solution would have been to get a table with more than 255 fields, but I can't do this, so I've had to split up the tables. The next easiest solution would be if there is a way to link the tables--I have a data field "IntAccNum" identified as the primary key in each table--so that when a new row is formed in one, it is formed in the others. This wouldn't waste space, since any row in the first table would necessarily need a corresponding row in other tables. Is there a way to do this?
If not...
The problem I run into is when I populate a row in the demographic table and then try to fill a corresponding row in another table. I use a command button to for a macro to "OpenForm", and then try to "SetValue" of the appropriate field in the second table. This adds a new row in the second table. This does let me populate the correct row of the second table the first time I try for each row. However, after this initial population, when I switch back and forth between the first and second table, I get an error in access since obviously I can't keep adding a primary key with the same value in the second table.
Do I need to do some sort of query to see if that row exists in the second table already. Or is there some simple solution to what must be a very common situation that I am overlooking?
Hi just started working for a Company and I found they have tons of databases but no structure or standard, so I would like to build a tool that will go thrue a list of databases and get all the table names, the items and type. Is there functions in vba that can get me a list of the tables in the database and the get all the items in the database ?
I have items, but some of them have multiple names for one item. Is there any way to tell Ms access that that item has those other names? I have 5 fields, named "Model" "2nd Model Names" "3rd Model Names" "4th Model Names" and "5th Model Names."
