Tables :: Pull Field From Main Table And Create A New Table With Date Stamp
Nov 4, 2014
I have a make-table query that pulls all the fields from 1 table (MainTable), and creates a new table with a date stamp based apon a form value entered (New Table = MainTableWithDate).
Currently, I setup the query to pull info from the form field like this:
DateField: [Forms]![frmmain]![DateField]
However, when the make-table query is done - all date fields are blank (all other fields are correctly created), and when I look at the new created table (mainTableWIthDate), the typeassigned to the date field is "Binary" (in the form, I've specified LongDate).
I have a slight problem here with a database program I am designing. I have two excel spreadsheets, one created by one department here, and the other created by a second department.
I have the access program importing the relevant fields from both programs into 2 tables. Table 1 is the listing of employees in the company and their info (minus the location where they work). Table 2 is the listing of employees who are in this facility.
I need to prepare a report of all employees in this facility who appear on the other table.
I have a field in each table (both called F1) with the employee names.
Is there a way I can run a report in Access where it pulls all the info I need into a Report as long as the name appears in both tables F1 fields?
Even if I can create another table based on that info, and then just do a full dump to a report from that new table, that would be great.
I am not familiar with VB or SQL really, but I figure something like this would be doable, I just don't know how to go about writing it :
If Table1.F1 == Table2.F1 Then { Append Table1.* INTO NewTable3 }
Something where if the name on F1 in Table1 matches the name on F1 in Table2, it takes all the data from that record and appends it or dumps it brand new into a NewTable3..
I am trying to add a user stamp in a table. I have seen online that perople put a macro (Before Change) in microsoft access 2010 but I dont understand how to use that.
I have seen you are suppose to do something with = Environ("username")
I am wondering if it is possible to automatically create a new field in one table whenever a new record is entered in another table. The name of the field would be the primary key entry of that new record.
I have one table (table 1) in which each record corresponds to a particular mouse with a unique ID number, and each field is the ID number of a particular genetic marker. The table overall shows what genotype (+ or -) a mouse has at each marker.
In the other table (table 2) the primary key of each record is the ID number of a genetic marker, and the fields are several different bits of information about the marker (e.g. what chromosome it's on, its location on the chomosome, etc.)
I would like to have it set up so that if I enter a new genetic marker in table 2 a field named after its marker ID will automatically appear in table 1. Is there a way to do this?
I have a crosstab query that I ONLY need the newest date from the table I'm pulling from reguardless of what it is for. Here is what I have:
TRANSFORM Max([Cust Count].[Active Customers]) AS [MaxOfActive Customers] SELECT [Cust Count].Node, Sum([Cust Count].[Active Customers]) AS [Total Of Active Customers] FROM [Cust Count] WHERE ((([Cust Count].Services) In ("core","data","telephone")) AND (([Cust Count].ASC)="uh") AND (([Cust Count].Date)=#6/12/2005#)) GROUP BY [Cust Count].Node, [Cust Count].Date ORDER BY [Cust Count].Node PIVOT [Cust Count].Services;
I know this is only setup to get items from 6/12/05 but more will be added to the table and I only want the new info for this query. Thank you.
I am brand new to building a database. What I want is a database to store Quote, Job and Invoicing information. We receive quotes first and then they can, but don't always, turn into jobs. We can also receive a job without quoting it. We currently have two spreadsheets. One is for Quotes and the other is for Jobs.
QUOTES INFORMATION Quote # Date Customer Name Part # Part Name Quote Due Date Qty Lead Time Price Unit
JOBS INFORMATION Job # Qty Quote # Customer Name PO# Part # Part Name Est Hours Start Date Due Date Price
As you can see a lot of the information in the Quote spreadsheet is also used in the Job spreadsheet. (Bold represents duplicated items) We currently type the information into each spreadsheet.
Then there are different forms that are filled out for quotes and jobs that contain the information in the spreadsheets. Is there a way that I can have the QUOTE Table automatically populate the JOB Table information?
I've got a query that uses a key from one table to pull back records from another.
My question is...
On the table with the key there is another field that I want to use to pull back data from the same table from above.
A bit more info...
Table one holds colleagues details Table two holds records
Within table one there are 2 different fields that hold different ID's for the same colleague, currently I run two different queries to pull all data - I want to know if I can simply run one query that will return every thing?
I have three tables that contain different columns but linked by a primary column call Name. I want to create a table where all these different columns in the three tables join to form a master table which can be updated regularly either through the master table or the smaller tables. The master table also has the primary column as Name.
If I update the master table with records, it should update the respective linked table and vice versa. I also want to link these tables to my SharePoint site.
Note: except the Name column, none of these tables have any other columns in common How do I go about this?
I am having trouble with our receiving database. This database consists of two tables. One for vendors, which basically contains their vendor ID as well as vendor name and phone # etc. The other table is our receiving data table. When our receiving person receives product in, they log this in the receiving table including info such as date, autonumber for record, vendor etc. The problem is, when the person selects the vendor id, which is set up as a lookup field, we would like to have the vendor name pop up atuomatically within that record. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this isn't happening. The person is using a form to enter all of this data and runs a summary report at the end of the day. Our accounting dept. is requesting this info be added, but I cannot seem to figure it out. Thanks so much for any assistance! Amy (monet1369);)
Within my main table / form I have six status drop down boxes and would like to record with a date and time ever time they are changed and save this data in a second table.
If I cant do this with the six drop downs, can I do it if any change has happened to the recorded.
Having issues with getting auto update of Yes/No field dependant on todays date.
When users open the form the code runs through and checks all entries and updates the records if either of the dates in two separate fields is less than today. The issue I have is when some users are already using this form a second user cannot open it. Error shows other user information as having the form locked and code halts at highlighted spot below. Is there another way of ensuring this field is updated to Yes or No if the date in the field is less than current date.
Code: Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Dim dbs As DAO.Database Set dbs = CurrentDb
I have built a nice database that has a form to enter data which logs in product received, there is a combo box on the same form that is linked through the query builder to auto populate the names from the contacts info table (the receivers of the product received) the contacts info table also contains information that is specific to each name such as locations.
As of now I have created a command button that brings me to the form that shows the information fields I need specific to a name, once I get that I have another command button to bring me back to the main form. How to create an additional list box on the main data entry form so as when the name is entered the new list box or text box (which is best?) will auto populate the information I need on one form instead of going back and forth.
Example:
Requester Name [ auto populate name ] currently linked to contacts info table (working)
(New field) Preferred Location [ need to auto populate location ] from the contacts info table (how do you pull locations specific to a contact name from the same table?
I am trying to create an expression to pull data from 2011 to present date. I need the data for 2011 to only reflect 1/1/11 through 10/7/11 (today's date in 2011). I need the same for 2012 and 2013.
I don't want to have to enter dates each time I run this, therefore, a formula would be preferred rather than hard numbers.
I'm exporting a query from Access to an ASCII text file. It is automatically adding a time stamp (0:00:00) to the end of ALL of my date fields. I would like it if it didn't do this...:D
Since last week I am working on a Database which I will use for my company. To make a long story short, I didn't find any appropiate softwares nor examples on the internet, hence, with my some knowledge in Access, I am trying to make this "to be" useful tool for my self.
Short brief on the project: This is going to be used for a trading company to register: - Suppliers -- Products
- Customers -- Inquiries -- Orders -- Offers
*Relations: - Suppliers can have one or many products - Customers can have one or many Orders / Inquiries / Offers
Problems: (I have tried many different ways, but going nowhere)
1) The "Customers" table have 3 tables (Orders/Inquiries/Offers) linked to it - and all are based on the primary key "CustomerId". --> How can I make a form to enter these data linked?
2) Under "Orders" I want to select supplier from the Supplier table and Product from the Product table -- How?
I know this is a lot of info and probably too vague, but if someone could assist me with a few problems - then I would really really appreciate it and compensate somehow.
I'm trying to create a database at work keep track of projects I'm working on and all the different events that happen during the project.
I want the main table to be customers, which will include the job number (as the primary key) name, address etc. Then I need other tables that have information about the building permit that will include dates city names etc and then another table that would include information on our sales people and so on, there would be maybe 5 tables that all connect back to the customer table.
I have tried this several times and keep running into problems, I'm sure it has something to do with the relationships. I'm missing something. I can create 2 tables and it works fine but once I add a 3rd it wont work.
I'm trying to derive the month in digits from a date/time stamp field. Any month between 10 and 12, I need the first 2 digits but anything <=9 is only 1 digit.
MONTH: IIf(Left([LOAD TO SKU LEVEL DETAIL]![PICK_PLAN_TS],2)="10" Or "11" Or "12", (Left([LOAD TO SKU LEVEL DETAIL]![PICK_PLAN_TS],2),(Left([LOAD TO SKU LEVEL DETAIL]![PICK_PLAN_TS],1))))
My Main Table in my Database is "Quotation", what do i need to do in order to create a new Main Table called "Quotation Tracker" and "Quotation" would now be under "Quotation Tracker"
Okay I had an idea and I thought I might get ffedback as I am relatively new to this. I went through a period a couple of years ago when I used access alot and was becoming familiar with VBA etc but I havent touched it in 2 years so Im pretty rusty.
I am running a study and need to have to create a database that:
a. collects data about participants b. Has a number of questionnaires (5), each of which can be filled out by participants.
THe main table has a number of fields that collects info about the participants the most important of which will be the ParticipantID - an automatically generated number which is my primary key.
In table 2/form 2 I will host questionnaire one. This will be linked to Table 1/Form 1 (Particpant Information) by this tables primary key - also the Participant ID. The relationship will be 1:1. Each participant can only have one Participant ID and will only need to fill out questionnaire one once.
Is it possible that when I add a new participant to the Participant Information table/form I also automatically create a record in Table 2/Form 2 (Questionnaire 1), as well as Table 3/Form3 (Questionnaire 2) and so on so that they have the same ParticipantID...?
I was reading a similar query somewhere else and they said to use the Form_AfterInsert Event command? Is this right (see here http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1687644.php)?
I feel a bit stupid but I am willing to learn and try new things Once I get started I think I will be okay. If you could steer me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
I am creating a database to keep up with the expenses for my art business. I have a table for Vendors with a field (Mileage) for one-way mileage that I enter manually (EX: 11.8 miles). Then I have a calculated field that basically just multiplies the Mileage field times two to get total mileage to and from my house to vendor location. (Total Miles) {The reason I want to do this this way right now is because I didn't keep up with my mileage this year and I am having to look up the distance from my home to each location)
Then I have a "supplies" table where I show the date, the vendor, the item, cost, etc, and I want to add a Total Mileage field based on the calculated Total Miles field in the Vendors table that will automatically populate based on the vendor of each transaction. I just can't remember how to make this work and I know just enough SQL to be dangerous.
I have started work on a database to track the many (several hundred per annum) projects my company undertakes. A 'main' table lists projects, their fees, their key dates, their project numbers, etc. I have created another table for tasks. Each task is assigned to a project (via the project number), and may be 'open' or 'closed'. I have separated the tasks table from the projects table as there may be several different tasks for each project. It is also good to keep a record of the tasks.
I want to prepare a report from the projects table that lists projects IF they have any open tasks.
In my mind, this means 'If a task, with the corresponding project number, is open, put a 'Yes' in the 'Tasks open' field of the Projects table.'
I am trying to create a database for estimating manhours on projects. There is a setup table with two columns: "Project" and "Time Period". The database is supposed to allocate manhours to tasks on projects, which is used in estimating man hour costs and also forecasting labour resource requirements.
For example, say the database is used for "Project X" and "Project Y" projects, with Project X running from Jan to March and Project Y running from Aug to Dec. The setup table would look like this:
PROJECT TIME PERIOD Project X Jan Project X Feb Project X March Project Y Aug Project Y Sept Project Y Oct Project Y Nov Project Y Dec
From this table, I need to automatically create a new table for each unique project that allows man power to be allocated to each time period. Following on with the example, there are two unique projects, so two tables need to be automatically created with column headings as per below:
Project X table: FUNCTION PERSON JAN FEB MARCH
Project Y table: FUNCTION PERSON AUG SEPT OCT NOV DEC
"Function" is a description of a role, for example engineer. "Person" is the individual undertaking that role, for example Bob Jane. Then in each time period a number between 0 and 1 would be entered corresponding to how much time (0 is no time, 1 is full time) that person would be spending on that function for that time period. Then the table would be populated with many functions and people in this manner.
So the number of tables automatically created depends on how many unique projects there are in the "Project" field of the setup table. The number of columns in these tables will be atleast two: "Function" and "Person", plus another column for each time period defined for that project.
Perhaps something can be done with a make-table query, but all I can get that to do is copy data from one table straight into another table.
Policy table: Policy number(key),date and fund(4 possible strings of four letters) Last Price: date, fund, last price Next price: date, fund, next price
What would i have to do to make a table that has a policy number, date, fund, last price and next price?
