Tables :: Time Field Keeps Turning Into Calendar
Jun 9, 2014
We are setting up a table and are trying to get a field to be a "time" field. I've changed the field to "date/time" and have chosen 'short time' in the background but when I open the table it keeps giving me a calendar to choose from then turns it into a time.

I am creating a new system over the course of the year for a chosen organization. I have chosen to do Zumba (dance classes). I have created 3 tables for my system; "Bookings", "Classes", "Client Details".
Now... In the table "Classes", I have got Class ID (eg. HFP), the class type (eg. Zumba Sentao), the Venue (eg. Village Hall), postcode and class dates.
This is where I am stuck, in the fields of Class Dates I want to add a calender which allows me to enter the dates of eg. Zumba Sentao throughout a 2 month period. I want to be able to insert a calender icon/button into the field and then show all the dates over 2 months when this class is on (and then grey out all of the dates that aren't applicable to this class).

Is there anyway to turn off the rounding function in calculated fields - I need to divide a currency amount by a whole number to calculate the number of full coin bags that will be needed (bags contain different totals according to the coin value) - a whole number.
Then the result is used to calculate how much loose coin will remain.
But regardless of the field type and/or the format, the number rounds when I reduce the decimal places to zero. I need the result to be the whole number and to calculate as the whole number.

I have a spreadsheet which contains data exported from another system (which I have no control over). I'm using this spreadsheet as a linked table in my database.
The problem I am having is that I can't guarantee that when the spreadsheet is updated, it will contain the same column headings as it did the last time...
The spreadsheet contains a list of temps, with a summary of info off their submitted timesheets. So the column headings (as well as WorkerName, TimesheetDate, etc) may be "Standard Hour", "Overtime Hour", "Over 12 hrs Hour", "Standard Day", "Overtime Day", etc - for each type there will be a Pay Rate and a number of units (hours or days) claimed. The columns only appear if 'someone' in the spreadsheet has claimed something under that heading this week.
What I need to do is to produce a report which gives a summary by person and week of the number of hours claimed and the total charge. I've done that - that part was easy The part I'm struggling with, is how to take the column headings and turn those into descriptors for each charge type... in otherwords, to go from the sample 'timesheet' below to the sample 'ByType' ?
... when I don't know which columns will be present each week?
At the moment I'm using a union query to pull out the info I need, but if the column headings change then I know it will stop working...
sample of my union query... I currently have 8 different sets of bill rate and charge rate, this just does the first couple...
Code:
SELECT qryTimesheetBaseData.[Time Sheet Start Date], qryTimesheetBaseData.[Time Sheet End Date], qryTimesheetBaseData.[Cost Centre], qryTimesheetBaseData.Worker, "Standard" AS RateType, "Hourly" AS RateCategory, qryTimesheetBaseData.[Bill Rate (ST/Hr)] AS Rate, qryTimesheetBaseData.[Time Sheet Billable Hours (ST/Hr)] AS Billable, qryTimesheetBaseData.[Time sheet Status] AS Status
[Code] ....

I'm trying to turn any period entered into a certain textfield on my form into a comma (to prevent access from turning 1.1 into 11 for example).
I have the on dirty event set to me.fieldname = replace(me.fieldname,".",",").
Everything works fine as long as I use the period key on the numpad. However, when I use the regular period key on the keyboard, it does not convert it.

Hi All,
I know there are several examples of calendar date and time pickers about so I thought I would offer mine up for critique.
No modules, very little code, code used is simple and can be called from subforms as well as forms.
I used these forms in an application where the users find filling in date and times in the correct format difficult with limited keyboard skills.
If it can be improved let me know..... :)

PS I think the contributions Banana has been making to this forum are invaluable.
Keep up the good work.

I created a call logging/work tracking type Database using SharePoint 2007 lists for the backend and Access 2013 front end for about 60 users and it has been running smoothly for around two years .
We use a shared outlook calendar and I want to be able to pull meetings & appointment information into the database from the calendar so I can assign the meetings out to specific people and keep of a record that they where given the request to attend. I was able to use the import outlook folder to create a linked table and it has lots of great information from the calendar apart from the two most important things you need in a calendar Start_time & End_Time . Is there something I'm missing in regards to these two fields? I assume I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure out what, nor did I have much luck with the Search function on here or google.
This is the list of field names it does import(everything apart from the meeting time and is it a recurring appointment)

I am making a calendar form in Access and want it to look like Google Calendar as much as possible. I am wondering if there is a good way to go about setting up the form to allow for multiple appointments scheduled for the same time. Designing the form to be in Week View with half hour blocks has me at 210 text boxes. As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to dynamically add in controls unless you are in design view. However, how many appointments might be scheduled at the same time. I could add in as many text boxes as possible I guess, but that doesn't seem to be very efficient (and the base form is already at 210). Is there anyway to add in controls (such as text box or label) if a new appointment is added at the same time as existing ones?

I am having some difficulties with a Date/Time Field. I am importing a | delimted text file into a table and the Date Field is resulting in a Type Conversion Error. In the raw text file, the Date Field has the following Format (example): 01/03/2013 03:11 PM
My import Spec is as follows:
File Format: Delimited
Field Delimter: |
Language: English
[code]....
The only thing I can think of, is that the mix of Leading Zeros in the Time AND AM/PM is causing a problem. But, I do not see a way to address this with an import spec. The odd thing is that if I import the DateOpened Field as Text, THEN change the DataType to Date/Time AFTER import, then save the table, it recognized/converts the DateOpened Fields correctly.I'd LIKE to get the import spec correct (I have to update twice daily), But, barring that, if I could import as Text then build a Macro that would:
1) import text file(s)
2) change certain fields datatypes to Date/Time
3) Save Table(s)
That would suffice. I could then use VBS (and perhaps windows scheduler) to run the macro when needed.

I am building a database to enter staff phone statistics. As an example my fields would be - Name, Date, Staffed time, Available time, Aux time and then calculated fields to show the percentage of time i.e %Aux, %Available etc.
My problem is the formatting of the times entered as they are duration not time. Say staffed time is entered as 08:00:00 for 8 hours and Aux time 03:57:21. The only format I can see to suit is date time but then Access takes these entries as 8am and 3:57am is there a way to change this to work as duration hh:mm:ss?

I have a table in my Access 2010 Database with few date/time fields. I have set different formats like Short Time, Medium Time etc. But when I link this table to Sharepoint list, all the date/time fields have been modified to their default format (General Date).
Is there a way we can keep the formats as such even after linked to Sharepoint list? If not, is there a workaround?

I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) When the user chooses a time in the combo box, I want the time portion of the text box to be updated with the chosen time in the combo. I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it right.

I've run into some mysterious problem...
I use some bits from both of these calender examples
http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=62606&highlight=calender
I mainly use the double-click version, but I've got two date fields (start and stop date) and use som ideas from the other for that.
When I use it in my form it works almost perfect. The only problem is when I double-click a date in the calender, to get it into the date field, the date won't update in the date field until I click another object in the form.
Why? Any ideas?

I'm using access 2003 with the calendar control 11, this works fine for entering values control whose control source is a date field.
My problem is that now I'm trying to use the calendar to update the value of a unbound textbox and it will not allow me to enter any value other than the default value of the calendar.
I have to update the unbound textbox as I want to use a button later on to update the date field and include a confirmation message before entering to avoid accidental entering.

Hi,
Wonder if someone can help please. I'm quite new to Access so please bear with me.
I have a data field in my database consisting of both a date and time.
I then have a form containing two fields where the user can type a 'To' and 'From' date to extract the records that they are interested in. The query behind this uses the 'Between[Enter The Date] And [Enter The Date]' coding.
The problem is that because the field contains a time it doesn't return any records when I run the query.
Can anyone offer a bit of guidance on how I could ignore the time part of the field perhaps by adapting the above.
Many thanks
Chris

I have a column/field named [DateTaken] which contains test dates and times in the same cell. I am needing to find those with a test time less than 2:30 pm or <14:30pm.
data looks like this:
8/22/13 4:23 PM
1/29/14 12:21 PM
1/28/14 3:27 PM
8/26/13 4:27 PM
[code]....
this is what I have come up with to extract the time component of data set so that I can then later, sort it by the time in a query.
JustTime: TimeValue([YourField])
JustTime: ("hh:mm",([DateTaken])) and or ("hh:mm",[DateTaken])
I get either invalid operator or invalid syntax errors trying both of these.

What I have is a database setup with multiple tables in which different areas of my DC can input information simultaneously into their respective tables. I then have another database linked to it for myself to have a live view of each updated record. I would like to see all the records of each table in 1 single table (possibly just sorted ascending by time). Each table has the same Field headings but may have different qtys of records. As I will then have it linked to an Excel table to VLOOKUP from it.
I have tried Union coding but always get Syntax Error etc.

Is there a good developer tool for turning an access db into a webpage?
Or should I go about it in a completely different way?

We need to enter the string INCL as a data value in one of our tables. When we try to exit the field, Access keeps changing it to INCLUDE. This occurs whether the value is entered via a form or directly in the table. I assume it is doing some type of autocorrect based on th spelling. There is no VBA code associated with this field.
Is there some way to turn this off?

I am doing a project which currently requires me to input a new file we just got. However, the dates on all of them, as in the field containing the dates, displays something like 20030608 instead of June 8, 2003. I was thinking I could just run the file through a looped vb array to go through the information, reformat it, and then dump it into a new column.
