How can i see the most frequently used data in a field?
For example if i have years put in a field, how can i see what is the most frequently used year and also how many times it's used? It will be a plus if i can see all the years in order.
Also if i have one field and in that field i have more than one name, can i find again which is the most frequently used name?
i have a table that holds "course codes" with the corresponding Module title and module codes, and assessment titles and codes that are used in each of the courses, so I have a few records that will go against one course code. I have forms set up with subforms, with the same general details on the top of each as the main details, and each of the subforms giving different information. But, for four of my subforms, I need to pull information from this table with the module title, module codes, assessment title and codes. possible to have these certain columns appear across four subforms, and what is the best way to go about it, I was thinking of using lookups?

Im hoping there is a way of achieving this? Ive tried an append and create table queries which copies the data but still no primary key.
I've created a blank table with the fields i want but cant think how to import the fields from the view into it?
Am i better off loading the view into excel?
I am using Microsoft Access97 database with my visual basic application. At one time many users are connected with it & use it, also the application works for 24 hours & some time one user some time many.
The file size is about 90 MB, so not a small database.
The question is, this database goes corrupt every 2-3 days, then I have to stop all the users & repair the database file.
I want to ask why this damage occurs.
I have a feedback database with 3 tables, one for complaints, compliments and other. They have the standard common fields such as name, address, date received, nature of enquiry, investigating officer etc etc.A person can have more than one record in the complaints table and that same person could also have 1 one more records in the compliments and others table. What I would like to do is to be able to display the data for that same person that appears in the complaints, compliments and others table in a report using a search facility by either name or address. This will therefore display the number of times that this person has made contact together with dates and the reasons.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently been modifying an existing Access 2007 database, everything seems to be working correctly, except that the main table holding most of the data is acting strangely.
If opened in database view, it is completely blank - no column headers, no data. Record count is correct and I can step through/select records, but there's just nothing visible at all.
The data clearly still exists as it can still be viewed in forms / queries / reports.
Only thing I can think of is that I have deleted a bunch of outdated queries & reports and it's possible that one or more of them may be cross-referenced with the table in another query, but still can't see why that should be causing this problem.
I have two tables in Access 2010:
Tbl1 - Abbreviations: with fields (1) "Abbreviation" and (2) "Definition"
Tbl2 - Piping: with multiple fields one of which is "Unit"
In Design View of Tbl2, I'd like to set the "Validation Rule" for the "Unit" field so that it is restricted to values in field 1 of the Abbreviations Table (i.e. one of the listed abbreviations").
I tried variations of "[Tables]![Abbreviations]![Abbreviation]" in the "Validation Rule" portion of the Design View for Tbl2 (Piping) but, couldn't get this to work.
I have a linked table(tblxyz) having property set as ORDER BY ID DESC, ID is autonumber, so my table view gives me latest record on top.
Now I have a subform , where i am calling this Table.....
[Forms]![MainForm]![Sub_DisplayFm].SourceObject = "Table.tblxyz"
This gives me datasheet view of the table inside subform but its not showing sorted data
Interesting thing is it give sorted data view when my table is not linked and is in same access file.
I created a new field as a text box, converted it to Combo box, then the Values are pulled from a query and all that works fine.
I have a form that opens and displays these Fields in a Data Sheet view and the new Combo box doesn't drop down and is flagged as a text box in the property bar but no way to change it??
I need the drop down like the other Category field I have, that works but this one doesn't.

You can see in the Category field, there is a Drop down, but in Category II there is not, even though this is a drop down field. - BUT in this data sheet view it doesn't show it as a drop down.

I have a table called NewTransactions_tbl that I have been using for some time. I am trying to add a new field called CustomerProjectNumber. It's not being displayed when I look at the table view. I've attached an image showing the settings for the field. I am probably missing something obvious.
Any ideas why it is not showing?

i have 4 supplier tables with identical field names but different databases in sql.I want to have them all in one table and only want the information for reference i do not want to edit any of the data.I need to create a new primary key number for the complete table. The data will need to be refreshed as the data comes from MMS Sage looking at company PLsuppliers.
I have tried a linked SQL union view- but this has no primary key.I need to keep the Primary key consistent as the data saved in other tables will use this field.The overall goal is creating a Purchase order system and this list will be my complete supplier list.
Currently trying to build a database for customer management and order placement/tracking. Want to set a couple of rules so that if I for instance click yes of billing and shipping address the same that the database will automatically fill the shipping address with the data I inputted for the billing address in the same table.
The other issue I can see I'll run into is, I want to be able to select one of the company ID's (made up of a three letter abbreviation of the full company name) in the product ordering table and it will automatically fill in the rest of the customer data (phone, email, address etc) data into that form.
I have a field in a table that is comprised of mostly numerical data but some records are text.
I want to convert this field to numerical only and make a new field to put the textual data in.
However converting the field will delete the textual data. What is the easiest way to convert the field but save the textual data AND append the textual data to the SAME record that they were in originally in the new field?

The user wants a report or export query that only shows records that has differences between prior weeks data and the current weeks data. The tables have 12 fields of data in a record per quote number. The user wants a query or report to identify the QuoteNum and any changes between the prior and current records. I am taking over a database someone else created but is no longer here. The tables are linked to an external oracle database. I know the links exist because when I run a query it prompts me for my user name and password. However, the tables look like regular tables. There is no icon showing it's a linked table so I don't know which tables are actually linked and pulling from the Oracle database.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a database containing 3 tables: Book, Member, and Loan. A relationship exists between the 3 tables(the relationship has no problems, I have enabled referential integrity). I created a query named Loan Query which uses all the 3 tables.
In the loan Query, the Member ID field is in Loan Table and the Member Name field is in the Member Table. This allows the database to automatically type the Name when the Member ID is entered into the query retrieving the information from the Member Table. This also works fine. But the problem is that the Name field of the Loan TABLE (not query) remains blank. So i have to keep the required property of that field to no.
All I want to do is for the database to also write the Name in the Loan Table along with the Loan Query. I will also have to apply the same for other fields also.
I am a beginner in Microsoft Access and so whosoever replies, please elaborate the solution.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a table in my DB called, devices. This contains all the information about various devices we have deployed in the field.
These devices are also contained in 2 other separate MySQL DB's.
What I need to do is add 2 additional field to my access table for the DeviceRecno and DeviceID of the same device from the MySQL DB's.
Adding the field is easy, but I cant think of a way to enter the recno and ID from the other DB's without typing them in manually for each one.
The common between them all is the serial number of the device, and I can get a list of serial numbers, recno's and ID in an excel sheet.
like a vlookup in excel to easily populate all the existing records with the recno and id's from the other db's?
When I created the access system there was no intention to link it to the other DB's for any reason, but that has now changed due to a lot of reasons.
